    Changes to Rage

    [ QUOTE ]
It does indeed seem like they're leaving Rage as it is.

In which case my level 50 is going to be shelved. I tried running missions in tandem with a close friend tonight. It was nothing but mounting frustration, whacking the buttons over and over through that 10 seconds that seems more like 30, till I got fed up and quit after two missions.

The penalty is totally inconsistent with the powerset, both in concept and in power level, as well as being anathema to the very concept of tankers and most importantly being nothing but a source of frustration to the player. And with the Invul/Superstrength combo being the most popular character concept for obvious reasons, this is something that should be avoided at all costs.

Either it changes or I retire my tank, which means my interest in the game drops sharply and I shortly afterwards cancel my subscription. This isn't a threat, they couldn't care less about one subscriber out of their tens of thousands, simply a statement of fact. Invul/SS is the only powerset combo that has kept my interest to level 50, and if that has now been reduced to an exercise if frustration there's not much reason for me to stick around.

It's really sad that the set was crippled in this fashion when there wasn't anything wrong with it to begin with. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" does not apply here, apparently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, it looks like the Developers did not feel that it was working as intended. It could have had to do with Tankers doing awesome damage while basically being immune to everything but psi.

But that could just be me.

I'd much prefer it if Hamidon Origin Enhancements just didn't exist...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Makes two of us.

PvP aside, the game's not balanced for Hami-O's -- and, since they're supposed to be rare, it can't be. Except that they're not rare for some people anymore.

It doesn't look like the designers envisioned people having more than a couple HOs at any one time. Unfortunately, that's not how it turned out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They do fit the bill of making you feel "super powerful" though, that some people had been complaining about.

I wonder if a Tank or Scrapper with full Hami's can solo AVs now?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
So could anyone who's been paying attention to this this stuff tell me what the deal is with Blue King's then, if it's going to continue or its getting dropped?

Because for the first time I just saw something involving the Keldian/Nictus + Council and it was actually interesting what was happening, and it was in Blue King's comic. ...the Council needs a back story more like that in the Actual game here!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I get the feeling that we are seeing the Council "outted" by Apex, War Witch and Horus. So basically, they are the cause for that power grab last issue.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    Black Hole is not broken:

Accuracy is normal at a base of 75%. It does not have an accuracy penalty.
Its endurance cost has been reduced in Expansion 4 to 11.25.
Black Hole is not a Controlling power to be used in every encounter. Like most high level power, it is situational and is very powerful when suddenly faced with more foes than you can handle. It is very potent to remove half of your enemies for 30 seconds when used correctly.
Black hole is a Magnitude based power. That means Enhancements will not increase the duration, but rather the Magnitude. What this translates to is the more Intangibility Enhancements you slot in, the higher rank and level foe you can affect, but the duration is constant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What happened to making it into a Toggle too?

    [ QUOTE ]

I think it is worth pointing out here that I hardly need to have a simulation run to know that the army with 10k troops has a rather large advantage over the army with 5k.

However I do agree that numbers are never the full story and in fact often lie. So while the basics of a double league should are being worked up go ahead and test HOs and NO HO in duels.

I fully believe that certain types of solid teams No HOers could take down a HO team. I am also fairly sure that a fully HOed MA/Regen scrapper will decimate any other non-HO scrapper in a one on one duel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have no delusions about HO's dominating the post 45 game, but in the pre 45 game, it is all but impossible that they will be so dramatically changed or capped that they won't make much of a difference at all.

One other thing... I keep seeing the number 300% when refering to the amount of damage and accuracy on 6 slotted HO attacks. Unless I'm mistaken, the cap kicks in somewhere closer to 200% on PvE... but then again I've been known to be wrong on occasion. If someone knows where there is a listed cap that has been tested or verified, please post a link.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hami-Os are 50% boosts, not 33% like SOs.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I'm just going to quote myself... if you've read this, ignore it.

    [ QUOTE ]
This whole issue reeks of pie (hopefully SOMEBODY knows what I'm talking about). The arena is something people have been looking foreward to since the game was introduced. In the original forums there were people asking for an x-men style ready room to battle it out in (don't sue me, Marvel), this was before the game even went to the live servers... everyone was still on Prime and they were asking for this. And yet... even with something that people have been asking for for over a year (yes, since before I was even in beta)... they find something to complain about. To this I say 'shut up, I like my pie the way it is... it might not have enough cinnamon in it, but it'll do.'

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you want to ignore possible problem, please do go ahead and stick your head in the sand.

Some of us see a real balance issue here.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Maybe its not everyones cup of tea

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've never much enjoyed raids -- all those people make me feel less than important -- a source of a little more damage to be poured on. I do a raid once or twice and I don't want to go back.

I really like 4 - 6 man teams. PvE and PvP. This will get me to 50 quite handily.

But then I'm stuck - I'm not going to farm content I don't enjoy in a game - that's just a stupid waste of my free time.

Tying one whole large area of content (PvP) to another (Raid Farming) means your enjoyment in one suffers if you don't like the other.

So, even though large-team raiding has absolutly nothing to do with what I want from the arena (small-team matches), its still the largest deciding factor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's why I've been suggesting "enhanced" enhancements for the 32+ level crowd. Double SOs and such. That way Hamis are neat, but not about four times or more effective than what you can buy.
  8. This isn't too bad an idea, but at 1 million I could only afford about 16 of these! And I don't think I'm going to be *that* flush with INF.

The only problem with the upcoming changes to Hami that seem to be in the works is that if they do change it to a single drop only, everyone that isn't greif-farming now or farming even two or three is going to require just that *much* more work to be "even" with some people.

And I'm betting that some combinations aren't very common.

Accuracy Debuff and END reducers? Maybe with a Recharge in there too?
  9. {Last person reply}

I really think that the option of "better" enhancements as purchasable is not that broken of an idea.

We get DOs at 12, SOs at 22 and then the Enhancements don't *really* change until the level 35ish Sewer Trial (where you can get 1 Duo/Tri) and then level 50 where you can get Duo/Tri enhancements from Hamidon.

28 levels of basically just *more* SOs, and then really cool uber loot (which I'm a bit against.)

So how about "enhanced" Level 25-30 Single origins. They would be regular SOs except for the fact that they can boost the 50%/33% of Hamis.

Then for the "final" purchasable enhancements you have level 50 Dual Enhanced Single Origins. 50% and 33% and two things they enhance. These would replace/suplement the regular level 50 (and maybe 45) SOs.

The Sewer Trial and Hami Raid would give out Triples only.

I think the difference between Duals and Triples won't be quite as wide. And Maybe you can earn Triples for finishing your story arcs in the 40s.

    [ QUOTE ]
Um, it's major. 200%+ Damage but +100% accuracy +50% END ruducers in *all* attacks will be brutal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So how much testing of this have you done so far? I mean in PvP matches in the arena, on the live servers? You can throw all the numbers and math out you want, but until PvP arena's hit the live servers, it's all speculation at best.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can't see the obvious advantages of having heavily slotted damage plus heavily slotted accuracy and heavily slotted END reducers? In *ONE* power?
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
They'd lose the extra bonus of hte HO, but not the dual-slotting advantage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The amount of advantage that gives is pure speculation at this point and means nothing.

In fact Statesman who is the only one to post in this thread, that has anything like real experance with the system, said that the advantage of HO's when exmp'ed down isn't major.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, it's major. 200%+ Damage but +100% accuracy +50% END ruducers in *all* attacks will be brutal.

And that's only the begining. I'm imagining pets, myself.
  12. {Just replying to the end here.}

Perhaps Hami-o's should be purchasable in the really high end? At least the Dual Hamis?

That would actualy be pretty neat for a "high end" enhancement to look forward to without having to farm them from Hamidon.

Perhaps at 45th level or so, you start dropping Hami-O's. (Hate that name.)

    {The stores should be able to handle it too. I like this idea and I can finally get rid of Stamina. Pets would become very, very cool!}

How are you going to tell if someone has Hamis? They don't show up in your power list, after all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can't. I believe that's where the steroids comparison comes in. We can't tell who uses what so we just assume the worse - and stuff like homerun records don't seem to mean so much.

But I don't understand why you quoted by stupid grapes joke...

I think it was the bottom when I was reading.

I'd like to think Striga as a whole set a new standard. We're going to try to use it as our goal in future zones and in City of Villains...

How about for retrofitting older Task Forces? Bastion is in severe need of fixing, as it is possibly the most boring TF in existence.

    Changes to Rage

    [ QUOTE ]
Why have the Devs gone to such lengths to give SS Tanks a disadvantage that almost cannot be worked around?
To me that seems entirely counter to the concept of a "game" and the Defender in me objects to this more than the Tank.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is easy. The old Rage had basically no drawbacks or they could be fairly easily circumvented by the power gamers, but your non-powergamers were the ones most affected.

Now everyone gets the same drawback that can not be gotten around.
  17. I'm triplely messed up. Picked up Hurdle, but that won't help. Use Superspeed (for Hasten) and *none* of my chosen Teleport powers will work.

At least I get to keep Hasten.

    [ QUOTE ]
If it isn't timed, you can "repeat" the mission as much as you want. The game engine can't tell how many times you "started" the mission. Only how many times you've completed it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If the system carries enough bitfields on a player to track dozens of "how many clockwork gears have you killed" type integers, it can certainly carry a "how many times has this mission been reset" integer. The coding is trivial.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't track that you killed one *particular" wolf, it just tracks numbers. Only specific bagdges (after completing missions, BTW) happen for specific named mobs.

The biggest reason they can't do it another way is disconnects. When you disconnect, all of your mission in play reset (but timed ones keep counting down.)

This really was the only way to keep farming down.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, they just applied the wrong solution. Simpler way to end this (and most other mission cycling) would be to limit a mission to being repeated no more than three times--after that the contact marks it as 'failed' and moves on to the next.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, this is the only way they can do what you are saying here. You get the mission, it *will* end in one hour.

If it isn't timed, you can "repeat" the mission as much as you want. The game engine can't tell how many times you "started" the mission. Only how many times you've completed it.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
There are different missions to farm and herd on. Trust me on that. My kinetics defender just started getting tells for a few of them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Best way to tune a game. Find the points the PLers are using. Tune them. Repeat.

Use the ones "breaking" the system to point out where to fix things. Of course, making sure the fix is better than the break is the tough part.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Herding is just boring. I've been saying "no" to wolf missions for months.

You might as well have that April Fools artifact from D&D that would crush a skeleton for you for XP.
