The blueside arc is pretty good. I'll second (third? twelfth?) what others have said about all the running around - doing this arc, I was flashing back to some of the first arcs and TFs, which is not necessarily a good thing.
Redside, on the other hand, I can't say. As opposed to every other SSA to date, Vigilantes can't do the 2.2 villain arc (I have no villains at the moment). Not sure if that's intentional or a bug... -
I suppose it's too much to hope for that the event badge is called "Candygram", is it?

Quote:But we better build that republic quickly, what with the planet being evacuated and all...And for the record, in order to save Praetoria, we must first destroy it. We must destroy Cole's regime of the PAST to build the Praetorian REPUBLIC of the FUTURE!
Or is that the new Republic of Hami? -
Quote:Beyond the stuff other folks have mentioned, I have a sneaking suspicion that Oroborous may not be usable as a transit hub after The Coming Storm finally hits (i.e. becomes a zone with PvE or something). That's just my speculation - figure we'll have to wait until i20-mumble comes out to see for sure. What was the reason for yet another shortcut thru the universe. (whatever the new name for it is). It was not especially difficult to get anyware with the last change to trains, mission teleporter, oroborus, pocket D, Supergroup teleporters and those silly little known TRAVEL powers.
Just curious what the design desions was for that one. -
Quote:On the other hand, giant metal robotic boots on metal decks do not make for very subtle travel (see "brass band" above).Ping inside the hull, not a radar ping. Literally, the sub is pinging as it decompresses at each atmo (thats why 33 feet).
On the other hand, this is Nemesis, who woudn't know subtlety if it beat him over the head in a subtle fashion while singing the Subtle Song, soooooo... -
Okay, I'd argue that the Weekly Task Force has done a lot to get some of the less-played task forces back into circulation. It would be nice to see something similar with the Incarnate Trials, seeing as a lot of trials aren't being run that much these days.
(I know one of the main arguments has always been "Wwant a particular trial? Run it!" Problem is, some of the more complex trials need knowledge to be able to pull off the tricky parts, and if no one's running it in the first place, it's really hard to GAIN that knowledge)
SOME sort of extra bonus for completing a rotating trial target might help get some of those less frequently run trials (like MoM, TPN, Abandoned Sewer, etc) into a bit more common usage. Variety cannot possibly be a bad thing, no? -

Apologies if this was said earlier in the thread, (I stopped reading around page 12) but I have a sneaking suspicion that Dead Hero Flying is going to be curbstomped by Darrin Wade's boss.
(At the least, I expect the big boss to put in an appearance before the end of arc #7) -
Quote:Well, two weeks this year.Pretty, very very pretty.
I only wonder if not to much manhours is put into it to make it look this good and only for 2 weeks! But I think it will be a nice halloween Event.
Traditionally the previous years Halloween features come out for the current year as well, so I'd imagine we can expect all the new stuff to return in 2012.
... Well, unless the Mayan Apocalypse happens and the world ends. Next year's event might be a bit delayed then... -
Quote:Hey, you think it's bad in Paragon? Imagine what it's like in places that aren't overflowing with heroes! The life expectancy there must be about 26 or so.OK, here's one; why would anybody without superpowers choose to live in Paragon City? I mean, for all the supposed heroes running around, it's got a serious crime problem with muggings on every corner, tens of different groups of organised villains roaming the streets, whole areas of the city cordoned off as hazard zones and at least one alien invasion in progress.

Quote:FWIW, I figured I mentioned that I switched to CoH on the Mac about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Yes, there are crashes and occasional wierdness, but I saw that just as much on the PC before the switch. About the only real downside is it's impossible to run some of the nice add-ons (like that one that tracks your hero data automatically - forget the name) because of the way the Mac client is set up.Hey gang, I was thinking of buying a mac laptop, can they run coh well without all hell breaking loose? Because im not very tech savvy so I wouldnt be able to fix it very well if something crashes. CoH is the only game I really play. Also a laptop or a desktop? If the laptop can run the game as well as the desktop then Id grab that one since I travel alot =) all your advice would be mucho appreciato! thanks =D
Oh, and a high-end Macbook Pro with enough memory will run the game just fine - that's what I'm on. Just make sure you grab a non-Apple mouse to work with it (multiple buttons are a good thing, despite what the guys in Cupertino keep trying to tell us) -
Hope I'm not resurrecting this thread too much, but I just figured I'd mention that VMWare Fusion (with a Windows VM, obviously) runs Mids just fine. Admittedly, it's an EXPENSIVE solution, but still.

It's worth noting that this isn't just limited to leagues over 19 - while that's happened to me the most in BAF and Keyes, it happened to two of us in a Sutter TF on Friday. We were locked out for the current mission, and couldn't rejoin until the next mission started.

I was in Talos with a mostly-full league. Lag wasn't too bad until we heard Miss Liberty's "Go to PI" alert and the whole league made the shift. Shortly after, the lag cannons went full bore in PI (2 full leagues in a zone will do that, I guess) and my group ran back to PI.
Great fun, though Bobcat showed up so many times it became something of a running joke. No Tyrant, though we DID have a zombie invasion hit while we were fighting off the Praetorians. Oh, and then the devs dropped a Rikti invasion on Talos right after the Praetorians left. All we needed was a Rularuu invasion and we would have had the full set... -
I dunno. I think it'd be hilarious if he hung around long term. Think of the comedy potential!
NEWBIE HERO: "Who's that?"
OLD TIMER: "Oh, that's just Bob. Don't mind him"
NEWBIE: Walks up to Bob "Hi Bob!"
BOB: FREEEEEEEEEM! -
Quote:Not unless one of those four have had an operation we don't know about:As for who Anti-Matter's calling... I'm personally guessing either Dark Watcher or Dr. Sheridan, both of whom have cropped up on Praetorian Earth. Though it'd really be funny if Anti-Matter calls either Positron or Synapse!

Quote:Am I the only one who gets lagged out of using Inspirations? Most of the time I've seen a player with a full try fall over, the damage was spiked so much there was no time to click them anyway. Especially on incarnate trials, where massive damage spikes can blindside players from any unseen angle at any time.
Me: <click green>
Game: I'm sorry, did you want something?
Me: <click green>
Game: LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Quote:Not to pile on, but you might be surprised. I'm on Liberty as well, and based on my Supergroup, there's still a good number of levelers running around. Many of these folks have Incarnates, but are building alts for variety. Heck, a bunch of my SG SSK *down* to run some missions with new lowbies now and then (since we want the new folks to learn to use their powers rather than just get PLd)Actually there's quite a bit for me to do. I just have to do it by myself because as I said earlier, the leveling population on Liberty has taken a significant hit due to most people grinding Incarnate trials. And before you say it, no I won't go to Freedom or Virtue. Liberty is my home and it's where I'm staying. And it's not exactly that low pop anyway (medium load every single night is not a low pop server imho). It's just the population it has is rather....focused right now, shall we say?

Quote:Oh, I understand the intent. Heck, I agree with the intent. Problem is that as designed, a queue team will be minimum size with no guarantee that the leader knows what they're doing. Based on what I saw last night, after a few disaster runs like the one I mentioned, EVERYONE on my server just started using channels to form Leagues. No need for advance planning.I think the queue was intended to give mostly solo/casual players a way to get into the trials without having to plan things too far in advance.
Example: Me.
My schedule is pretty insane these days, so I never know when I'll get a chance to play. If I manage to snag an hour on a weeknight it's nice to know I can stand a decent chance of getting in on a trial if that's what I feel like doing. And with the way it works, I can get in the queue and do stuff around the house that needs done while I'm waiting (as long as I stay in the vicinity of the computer to see when it starts at least).
(As to how to fix it? Good question. Raise the minimums? Start a timer when the minimum is reached, and only start the trial once the max is reached or the timer expires? Automatically broadcast something on a channel when a trial is getting ready to start? Just some ideas...)
