Wikipedia shows an actor credited for playing Edd Tollett, so I guess he was. It also credits someone as Meryn Trant; was he just in the background somewhere, or did I totally miss him?
  2. OK, so are those Kree? Whedon has repeatedly said that they aren't Skrulls, so could they be Kree?

Someone won that lottery, so less probable things have occurred. There are reports of some people being hit by multiple lightning strikes; a very improbable occurrence as well. I personally don't feel that Apophis will hit us, but it's in the realm of possibility.

    As for government conspiracies:

I personally don't believe that aliens have visited us. However, there have been events that occurred that we didn't know about until after the fact. One example I can think of are the Tuskegee experiments, which went on for 40 years before a whistle-blower brought it to light. So, just to my mindset, the government is willing to cross the line, and is willing to not pass on crucial information that it deems "national security".

Is it possible that extraterrestrials have visited us? Yes. Do I think it likely? No.

And, as for the Mayan Apocalypse: I'm scheduled to work that day. So, either it's gonna suck or it's really gonna suck.

Besides, an infection that makes it victims "set fire" to things....REALLY? Humans do not have an innate ability to set fire to anything.....so, it makes the person go out and hunt for matches/lighter...and then find something that will burn? All while making the person irrationally aggressive?

    Really?

Don't know if it makes it anymore legit but CNN covered it. And a text version.

Are you talking a new Pet AI issue, or the one that's been around since Issue 6?

I enjoy playing any Mastermind set. I obviously have ones I preferred over others, but I play them all. I have 4 level 50 Masterminds, which is the most of any AT for me. If you are indeed referring to the pre-issue 22 AI bug, then it's something you adjust to. I really don't have too much of an issue with my pets, as long as they stay alive.
  7. I rolled a BM/Sonic, and wanted a mythological bent to him. I decided he would be an archaeologist who discovered an ancient set of Pan Pipes. Once he blew on them, he became a satyr, and found he had magical abilities. He is named Sylvanus, which is the Roman equivalent of Pan. His powers all emanate from the magical pipes; he cannot do anything otherwise.
  8. The formation of the horde and its migration was pretty much dead on with how it's described in the comic. One sees/hears/gets distracted by something, and starts moving in a direction. Other zombies notice this, following the lead. Others eventually join, forming larger and larger hordes. They keep moving simply because they are moving; there is no reason to stop.

Was it convenient for the show that a herd happened to be in hearing range of Carl's gunshot? Of course. By its definition, it is a deux ex machina; the Kirkman heard the pleas of his faithful story-writers and granted them this boon. It happens all the time in television and film, and requires a certain suspension of disbelief to enjoy it. You see evidence in this in regards to their ammo, as well as their ability to find just the right item at the right time.

I have to wonder why they didn't start coming after the first shot, the one Shane shot when Rick came at him with the knife. It was a good several minutes in between that and Carl's shot. Then again, with very little noise being made at night in the ZA, it's reasonable to believe that the sound could travel several miles to wherever the zombies happened to be. If they were indeed reacting to the first gunshot, then they could have been a distance away and just took time to get there.
  9. The Tripods trilogy by John Christopher is geared towards YA, so it's not a deep read. I enjoyed them when younger.

The Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson are also good reads, but a little deeper.

The Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton are good reads, but pretty deep and long. There are about 1000 pages each.

If you'll remember the only reason the news helicopter took off from Atlanta in the comic was that they were trying to make a break for somewhere else before it crashed. This sort of implies it was a one-way trip that went horribly wrong. On the other hand we've now seen the TV helicopter twice now and both times it looked very much like a classic cliche 'black' government type helicopter, not a civilian one.

Sure it's always possible that this helicopter (or helicopters) will serve the same purpose the news helicopter did in the comic (which was to get Rick and company involved with the Governor) but then again it's always possible that the TV show is going to take this in another direction.
Didn't know this until I checked into it, but there is a Nuclear Regulatory Commission based in Atlanta, for inspection teams for any plants in the Southeast. As this would be a government facility, I would expect them to have access to government vehicles and the like. Also, in the greater Atlanta area are 3 military bases: Fort Gillem, Fort McPherson, and NAS Atlanta (Navy).

By the way, according to Google maps, Fort Benning, which is near Columbus, Georgia, is only about 110 miles away from Atlanta.

Lots of crashes and graveyards on the roads, and wandering zombies would be everywhere along the route. Basically, it's the exact type of area you'd want to stay 100 miles away from in a zombie apocalypse.
Exactly. Since I lived in the Carolinas, if I were wanting a less populated road that went a long way in both directions, I'd take Route 1 for travel from Georgia to Virginia. Very small rural cities/towns in that area, with no major cities there. Otherwise, you'd have to take small country roads, which can be confusing if you are not from that area.

And since I failed to mention it earlier, Hellz yeah! Michonne! I'm glad that she was not cut from the TV show.

Unless he's changed, Saint Walker is a member of the Blue Lantern Corps. Well, at least he is in the comics. Of course, things have been changed before between comics and TV, so it's always possible.
  14. Well, the ooze was from a company run by aliens, does that count?

Next up for Michael Bay? Strawberry Shortcake. His vision? The president has been kidnapped! Only one person can save him: Samantha Sullivan, code name: Strawberry Shortcake.

Nope, I read it long before the movie ever came out. The movie is nice, popcorn fun; I just try to think of it as a non-named movie, instead of a literary translation. The first time I saw it, though, it bothered me because of the connection to the book.

Y: The Last Man had a similar idea, but it was with astronauts. They eventually had to come back down and see how they would react to the disease. They weren't the main characters; just a subplot.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I knew that the power selections could vary. I wasn't surprised so much by the White Dwarf, just the odd skin.

This would make sense. The double did have the self rez power as well, which is a level 35 choice.

The first one is WAI. My double had Shockwave (Sonic Blast Shockwave, not Claws) and my blaster has NEVER had that power.

    Thanks for the input!
  19. Running the Keith Nance arc on my level 21 Peacebringer tonight, when two odd things occurred when fighting my doppleganger:

    1. My duplicate had White Dwarf (I'm human only). When it switched to White Dwarf, its form changed to that of a Longbow Warden.

    2. My duplicate also used Photon Seekers against me, a level 32 power.

Now, are these WAI? I assume the first one is a bug, but is it a known bug? And do dopplegangers in general have access to powers greater than your current level?
  20. One of my favorites:

The Hollows? Blue Steel was testing out Foot Stomp.
  21. So, in the vein of how it all started:

How would a zombie apocalypse start? We always see an apocalypse after it has gotten going in movies, TV, etc., but how would you imagine a patient zero?

    1. Superbug created by some government gets out. (Think The Stand by Stephen King.)
    2. Virus mutation and/or combination.
    3. 1 & 2

A lot of the older movies used radiation/radioactive materials, an astronomical event (comet, etc.), or supernatural event. However, since we can pretty much rule these kinds of events out, are viruses really the only way this could happen?

Again I'll cite The Animatrix as a perfect example of a way to tell the "origin story" of a franchise without actually involving the main characters in things they would have no way of knowing for themselves.
I agree that it would be nice to know how it all started, but it isn't necessary for the story. In fact, there has already been a precedent of webisodes for more back story, so it's very well possible that we will eventually get more information.

As for my other response, it wasn't aimed towards you; I mostly was saying that Kirkman's quote isn't a be-all, end-all answer for the TV series. Ratings are different beasts between comics and TV; Kirkman has to throw a bone to TV viewers to keep them watching. I'm sure that AMC is putting some pressure on in terms of keeping viewers happy.

As a general rule, TV only watchers are less forgiving and patient than comic book readers. Comic book readers already expect stories to last months to years on end, with only information being given once a month. TV watchers expect answers every week.

Also, the average person wants neat and tidy endings; hence, the proliferation of happy endings in most media formats. Good guys win, bad guys go to jail or are killed, and the hero always gets the girl/guy. Most importantly, we always learn the plot and how to thwart it; I expect the TV series (if it lasts long enough) to give us answers in what happened and how it works. For example, we know more in the TV series from Dr. Jenner than we ever learned in the comic books. Is it important information? Not really, but it is answers, and probably predicts a trend. (I refer to the fact that we see that the brain itself reactivates after death, something never specified in the comic books.)

Myself? I am okay with ambiguous endings, as that's how life sometimes works. I, however, have come to realize that most people aren't like this, and that they would be dissatisfied if the show never gave any answers.
