Many of us actually agree with you but brewha will continue to post until the years sub he paid for in advance expires. He told us back then if he could have cancelled his sub when the devs nerfed something he liked he would have but he's stuck with a years paid sub and he won't go away until it runs out.

So until his sub runs out we're stuck with his closemindedness and lack of civility, of course it's entirely possible he has gotten over the hissy-fit he was throwing back then and intends to keep his account active.

Yes I recall one thread where someone was angry that he cancelled his account last December, (he didn't take the time to put anyone he trusted in charge of his SG, he just left without a word to anyone) and when he finally returned 6 months later he found someone who was invited to the SG after he left was now the SL and Customer Service told him there was nothing they could do about it.

NOW you go to Atlas Park and check the exchange rate for BUYING prestige using influence. It's 1 Million in influence to purchase 2000 prestige over or 500 in influence for every 1 prestige.. so that's like saying I donated over 300 million in influence to my base. Is there anyway I personally can use that prestige? Well aside from using the telporters, med bay, and storage items provided inside NO but 600,000 prestige is enough to have built my OWN little base with all the toys so saying it was never mine to begin with and eluding that I have no right to say NO I don't want the base to move from say Freedom to Infinity I like it here is NOT a good idea.

There are small SGs now with basically 4-5 members with a LOT of Alts in the same SG. If those 4-5 players all agree to move an SG fine but as mentioned above there are SGs out there now that have been around a long time and have more than 100 members. Getting 100 people to agree to one new sever would be a nightmare and it doesn't seem very fair to say well 40 people agreed to Infinity, 25 to Virtue, and 20 want to stay here so we move to Infinity. What that means is 40 people got what they wanted or were talked into it and 45 (?) were slighted? Last time I checked 45 was higher than 40 so a MINORITY got to decide the base was moving to a new sever and to which one? And now 45 members that don't like the move at all either pay to transfer their characters or leave the SG and go look for a new one that HOPEFULLY won't decide to do the same thing. And to top it off whi knows how much of that bases prestige was a direct result of those 45 players playing the game in SG mode to help build the base to begin with.

No I can see this idea causing an uproar in game and on the forums and frankly it won't work. If a base Superleader decides he doesn't like the servers his SG is on he is free to buy a transfer and move to a new one but that base belongs to ALL it's members and they have the right to keep it right where it is. Let him go and start all over again if he wants but tranferring his base with him is not fair and I really don't see NC Soft ever agreeing to it.
Don't get me wrong Wendy, I'm not saying there wouldn't be a whole passel of headaches and arguments in SG's with more than 1 player. Each additional player could potentially add to the headaches exponentially.

I was merely pointing out that the way the game mechanics work, a player has no claim to any prestige he/she/it has earned while in SG mode.

    No.

    1. Nothing is preventing you from earning enough inf by playing the game.

    2. Nothing is preventing you from reading and following the instructions of the several market guides that show you how to get everthying you want by following their simple instructions.

    3. Nothing is preventing you from earning and trading in AE tickets.

    4. Nothing is preventing you from earning and trading in merits to get what you want.

Oh and for the record I only use basic IO's, and the most inf I have on any character is 16 million.

Edit: You can even farm candy canes during this winter event and buy the universal travel power recipes and sell them for millions.

Prestige has never belonged to the players. It belongs to the SG.

I'm still really against the whole idea of tangible rewards for MMOs strictly set on time payed. I would much rather have a system where you get tokens ever 3 months or something that can unlock specific items. They could be in-game related or out of game related. You could possibly redeem them for some CoH gear from the store, or maybe a badge. Maybe you could get a certain power or costume. Every three months, you can start a new concept character. With the system they have now, you might have to wait 3 years to start the concept character you would want.

I can see why people want to buy these vet rewards...but they're just going to have to deal with it. Its not going to happen without pissing a lot of people off. In all honesty, it would probably piss off more people than it would please.

Just in case anyone whose keeping score can't tell from my posts (If anyone cares what my take on this issue is), you can throw me in the /no crowd.
While I have never liked the idea of having costume pieces as vet rewards, I understand that at the time they created them they didn't have as many options available to offer us, and it seemed like a good idea for fluff items.

    1. I'd settle for getting that white floor tilw next to the safe reskinned with a top and bottom.

    2. Because copper has more salvage value when you recycle it silly. Steel is cheap, and often is left to rust.

As a vet of CoX coming up on 5 years, I'm going to make my perspective clear to everyone. If a new player is willing to shell out $14.99 x the number of months in vet rewards that they want, it wouldn't bother me in the least Knock yourself out, kid... you've got more money and less patience than I do.
And if that player chooses to pay in advance the vet rewards will unlock every three months just like they did for everyone else.

Which is exactly what Fahx said. The vets have invested TIME and no amount of money can be measured in TIME. None of the arguments presented in this thread address the issue about the amount of Time vets have invested in the game. The whole issue is that some people think they are unique snowflakes that deserve special treatment. They don't want to wait like everyone else did, they want to cut ahead in line.

Definitely don't want to allow purchase of vet rewards. They definitely need to stop doing more vet rewards because its starting to get to the point where there are certain ones that people probably won't be able to get - Due to the game being fairly old.

I kinda feel bad for the people who just found the game a couple months ago because they weren't around for the previous doses of marketing. But, at the end of the day, you will get the rewards eventually.

Making vet rewards one of the top reasons you play games is going to really disappoint you if you are just now starting to get into any game that has been established for a while - that's the main reasons I hate vet rewards in general.
Ya know if they ever came out with a CoX-2 I wouldn't object if they carried over these vet rewards and gave them to everyone that started the new game as purchase goodies, with a fresh new vet reward system for everyone to start on.

    St. Blogfurglomhein
    Shplekenfugheimer
Adramalechsteinenfur - The devs really need to increase the size of the names we can make.

I think the devs fear that because blueside has more inf that they will be buying up all the stuff and setting prices higher than redside can afford.

The question is how long would it take for the influence to balance out between sides. Redside doesn't have the population to compete with the blueside market. So blue will be dominating the supply of items and setting the prices based on their vaster wealth.

I can turn it around and say I don't use Ouro because of my base - which has no level limit to get into, and lets me get to more locations than Ouroboros does. I can start Ouro missions from the crystal inside my base. And for me - it's more true than your "nobody uses bases."

Thanks for responding Ironblade. I think the best route to take is to get a friend to help fill out the rosters with fillers and then add some more to the bases then give them away for Xmas.
