Quote:If the stories were better written we'd probably be more willing to let things slide. For example I don't recall anyone complaining about how how nearly every group SG-1 and the Atlantis teams encountered always spoke perfect modern English. On one hand it's similar to Star Trek: Voyager. Stuck far from home, no way back yet, limited number of crew you can burn through as a plot point but on the other hand they have very limited resources compared to Voyager, no control (until recently) over the ship. It reminds me of an animated show because everyone wears the same thing every week.
Maybe next week they find some uniform supplies as well as a shuttle or two on the "other" Destiny. -
Quote:lol, the gilligan's island reference actually helps.

more along the lines of: the environment is what it is, collecting coconuts to fabricate radios is just a touch outside suspension of disbelief, so how could it be engineered from this point in the series forward to lessen the sincere disbelief we all share?
i also suggest that we rename the destiny to 'minnow'.
Actually I was thinking of the movie the Nude Bomb. The original Get Smart movie. -
Quote:Just curious but did you ever consider that since the devs frown on people using respecs to strip characters of enhancements they deliberately set the price just high enough to discourage people from doing that but kept it low enough that it is still affordable to the people that really need one to fix a build? While I know the feeling of wishing I had more slots/respecs to make use of those awesome IOs again, but really, I'd rather not see this done.
Part of the reason for this, is the game economy. It'd drop with something that made it even easier.
I mean, why would I purchase Respecs off the market (and be tempted, but haven't ever done so, to purchase a respec from the in game store for 9.99! >_> If it was 1-2 dollars, I might actually do it though), or I wouldn't need to purchase some of the cheaper IOs from the auction house, because I was able to get ALL my unused IOs off one toon, and thusly don't need to purchase them now.
I say this as someone who's had to respec the same toon multiple times to rip all those IOs from one toon to another.
Just food for thought about their motivations. -

Quote:I read everypost but till now nobody proved me wrong.
We not getting costumes like before, all new costumes sets comes with boosters.
I dont like that, and thats why I complaining.
End of the story.
Denial and revisionist history all in one post. At least the OP isn't an underachiever. -
Quote:Gamestop offered extra perks if you pre-ordered. That promotion is over now. You may find someone with an unused code but you'd have to search for them.So far I haven't bought the new expansion. I am considering doing so.
I understand I can buy a box in a sotre or go to the NCSoft online store. I have vague memories of people saying that if you bought it one way you'd get more perks than if you did the other way...although that may have been pre-ordering. I've looked around and can't find anything clarifying this, but I assume others have blazed this trail before me.
Are there any differences? What's the best way to get the expansion?
Thanks! -
An episode based on physical characteristics? Are we talking about the crew of the Destiny encountering a microscopic organism that eats clothing thus forcing the female crew members to wear seashell bikini's?

Quote:Not according to Necrotech_Master. He has stated down in the suggestions section that he has tested on the live servers and found that if you do one sides respec trial and you have not used the respec you can switch sides and do the other factions trials from the lowest up and get all the badges.Nope. you can't even run the ones on the opposite side to get extra badges (not counting the Hero badge just for the trial). It's 3 per customer.
But again remember you can only get them if the side you started on still says, "Talk to so-and-so to claim this respec." -

Thanks for the info.

Quote:Actually they didn't say that we were lucky. The actual phrase was that that they were being generous when they decided to let us pull 10 enhancements off of a build.i think castle even stated somewhere that we were lucky to even get 10 slots to be able to strip enhances to
so yeah, this isnt prolly ever happening
To MaestroMavius:
The position the devs have taken has nothing to do with game balance, It's simply that respecs aren't intended to be used to strip characters of enhancements. Re4specs are designed to let players tweak their builds and correct poor slotting/power choices they feel they made.
However as the game evolved and they added things like multiple builds they acknowledged that people may need more respecs to make those corrections so they added more ways to get respecs. As it now stands there are more respecs available in the game than anyone ever needs for any one character.
To the OP:
The game has plenty of ways to get more than enough respecs to strip any character of it's enhancements.
Trial Respecs - 3 allowed per character
Vetspecs - 5 allowed per character
Patron Respecs - 1 allowed per character also available to heroes that switch sides and run the patron arcs
SOA Respecs - 1 onlly available to VEATs
Purchased Respecs - Unlimited but they don't stack
Freespecs - Unlimited but they don't stack
Respec Recipes - Unlimited but they don't stack
Holiday Respecs - Unlimited but they don't stack
If you aren't willing to aquire the respecs that have already been made available to you then suck it up and deal with it.
To everyone in general:
Out of curiosity has anyone tried doing all the respec trials on one faction then switching sides and doing the respec trials of the other faction to see if they would be awarded that factions trial respecs?
If that works that would open up 3 more trial respecs for players. -

Quote:Right. All they have is an empty compartment they converted to an infirmary with the scant medical supplies they brought thru the gate, and even if they used the stones to bring in a doctor/surgeon they still don't have the medical equipment a doctor/surgeon would need to patch him up.Or that the writers don't know or don't care how real life works.
Even if they did and got him back to the ship, what could they do? They have no significant medical facilities there.
In fact, really, whatever they have in their backpacks is EXACTLY the same level of care that being on the ship would provide, save perhaps the presence of an actual bed to lie on.
-k
And if they suddenly found the ship's actual medical facilities just in time to save his life I think I'd be even more offended at the bad writing. -
Quote:That's the thing. The fact that he was still conscious after they tried to move the stuff off of him makes me think he wasn't that severely injured. If one or both of his femoral arteries had been injured then he'd have passed out from blood loss and been near death when they lifted the stuff off his legs. It really happens that fast.I still say you try. I mean destiny is a big ship itself. So if i got shot and was bleeding out on the ship would they simply kill me where i was or TRY to get me out and to the infirmery to be treated. And sure i might die on the way, however atleast you try.
Riley wasnt dead, he said at the begining he wasnt in pain then later said he was. But seriously yank him out, sure he might think he is going to die anyway, but again, try. Its just IMO a poorly devised plot. Sure now if you at that moment had no hope of reaching the ship or other medical supplies, i could see it but at that point they had the gate working. Hell i would think the first group through would be some doctors from earth that they had on the ready from using the stones.
If his injuries were severe enough that the pressure of the wreckage was the only thing keeping him from bleeding out, then the only way they could have gotten him back to the ship alive would be if they had a pair of MAST trousers to put on him which would have been inflated in order to keep the pressure on his lower extremities and prevented hemorrhaging until they got him back to the ship. -
You could always buy and use a respec recipe, or a holiday respec by trading in candy canes during the Winter Event.

Quote:Sorry but that's a garbage. If anything the crew would see it as an act of mercy by not letting him suffer a long slow agonizing death..They talked about that, during the conversation between Young and the kid. He said something about "I'd ask you for your weapon, but blah blah blah".
Basically, the kid knew that if he were to ask Young to provide him a means of suicide, it would seriously damage the Colonel's relationship with his crew at that point. -
Quote:The OP is also assuming that the people that file petitions are stupid enough to return fire with their own volley of obscenities when just the opposite is true. What usually happens is they notify the GM's of the filth being spewed at them by the potty mouth and then politely bait them into digging their own graves while asking the GM, "are you seeing what this guy is saying to me?"Talk about a point ZOOMing right over your head. Perhaps now you get some idea of how *I* feel when someone with no concept of stemming the sewer spewing from their mouth thinks it's cool to swear because "hey, I'm eeeeevil!!"
Your opinion is that you should be able to violate the ToS. Great. Do it when I'm not around. It still won't save you from the banhammer because there are plenty of people out there who don't appreciate it, for any reason, least of all because you think you're role-playing.
By the way, I know how to petition, I've been playing MMO's a long time. Just because you have no governor on your actions doesn't mean I don't. If you HAD said "**** **** **** *****", my complaint would be delivered via GM. Hope that clears up that.
Want an example of this? Go check out the Rude Tells thread in this same section. (For some reason my ability to insert link isn't working) There's a post made by GreatRock, Post #4822, where she petitioned a jerk making derogatory comments and obscenities about women and she actually got to watch him get banned by the GM's. -
Also just by changing the SG name and using a different character on the same account it's very unlikely that people will recognize him in passing or if they see a recruiting spam in broadcast. We don't play with our global name list open, and we only see stars if we are looking at the character and actually click on notes to see why we 1 starred someone.
And as I said before these scenarios are going to be rare exceptions. -
Quote:Many of us have multiple accounts. Personally I have had up to 4 at one time. Multiple accounts make running things like personal SG's easier, and a lot of us don't keep those accounts active all the time, so it's very unlikely that those globals will be known to everyone in an SG.Where does the naming thing come into the first one? That guys name should effectively soiled after that so changing the SG name shouldn't do him much good. (Though in cases like that I'd personally love to see him be forced to turn the SG over to the highest rank he kicked =P)
And remind me to not stroll into PI without a supergroup >.>
That being said, it would be very easy for someone that managed to get the SL star to steal the SG (by kicking everyone), transfer leadership to one of his characters on his alternate account, and change the SG name. He can then quit the SG on his original character, and if asked by former SG mates, claim he quit the SG and that whoever got the SL slot after him is the guilty party.
CS/GM's are not going to get involved because we've been told that SL's are the defacto leaders and are the defacto owners of SG's and can do whatever they want. They also won't discuss the result of any petitions that get filed. -
Quote:Well I was thinking of the time our SG leader got in an argument with the members about his behavior and kicked everyone from the SG and kept everything we had contributed for himself.Well, yeah, I suppose there could be the rare occasions of some guild leader going off his rocker and renaming "The Incredibles" to "LolIlikecats" then ragequitting. That would at least (hopefully) be easily reversible by a gm petition unless you had something else in mind.
Another example is that there is a certain infamous SG on Virtue that makes a habit of inviting low level characters to teams in PI then hits them with SG invites and if they don't agree to join the SG they strand them in PI. -
Quote:Not just that, i can kinda buy the idea that when on the wreck that freeing him would kill him by taking the pressure off the wound, but once the gate is working and you can basicy blink and be back on the ship, why not atleast try. Even if they basic med kit wasnt prepared for the problem you now have access to everything and all the supplies, you can go back to the ship and get what you need, come back, free him and try and get him to the ship. You can use the stones to have a real doctor waiting or even come to the planet with you.
Sure its a life threatening injury and he could have died anyway, but i fail to see, after everything else in the series, why this became a "ill kill you quietly" moment other then im sure at some point the truth will come out at some inopprotune moment when Young is trying to inspire confidence in himself with the crew.
Actually it depends on the severity of the injury in his leg. A serious enough injury to the femoral triangle in just one of his legs could result in him dying from blood loss before they could finish extricating him from the wreckage and treat the injury.
And the "I'll kill you quietly" thing could have been easily handled by giving the kid a pistol and letting him finish himself off. My impression was that the kid knew he wasn't going to make it, and the only justification I'd accept for Young to smother him would be if the kid said he couldn't bring himself to commit suicide because of his religion. -
I can easily imagine a few scenarios where it could be a problem, but only because I've seen or been a victim of a few of them. However I think they would be exceptions to the norm rather than something that would happen with any frequency.

Quote:That's why i attempted to put you both into using similar terms in my last post (apparently unsuccessfully heh) which does include both post-pack (wedding) and pre pack era. Since as i maintained, (probably due to the casual language format used), you both are talking past each other's points.
(Hehe, are we also at a "agree to disagree" stage?)
I'm willing to agree to disagree.
While you do have a point it's also true that most of the player base were here when CoV was released and paid for those items, and just as CoV eventually merged with CoH becoming CoX, GR will most likely be merged with CoX in a year or two. When that happens the unique GR costumes will be available to everyone just like the unique CoV costumes are now.Quote:As for the costume "pieces" from CoV, those are negated because they gave access to them to everyone in a later issue (patch?) which was during the pre-pack period (i'm sure...can't recall the date at the moment).
