I didn't say Hudson Liek looked signifacantly different Lothic. Nor did I suggest that Hudson would be better in the role as WW.

And I used Hudson's portrayal of Callisto as an example of someone who doesn't look like a super-cut bodybuilder/wrestler successfully playing the role of a hardass heartbreaker and lifetaker.

Pardon me for wanting an actress that can pull off the role of WW (even in photos) rather than some barbie doll that looks like she's going to cosplay.

For me it is not so much about getting to 50 as spending time with friends. However, when you do that, the end result is you end up with a few level 50 charictors. I have four right now. I even have builds planed out for three of them. Almost complete with my main!!! Just a few more hero point to go! I do end up playing her a lot so I would like to get a little salvage on her that I could use for the others. I see her as the big sister looking out for the younger ones. Well you got the right attitude on leveling. Your playing to have fun. As long as you can keep feeling that way you'll do fine. Not only will the levels fly by for you, so will the vet rewards and one day you'll look back and think that you can't believe you've been playing for 7 years.
  3. Okay I have no clue what you are talking about. I asked people here about what the minimum I needed to play ultramode and then decided on a budget and got the best I could get above those minimums while staying within my budget. I think I did pretty good with this set-up.

    Intel Core i7 870 processor (4x2.93Ghz/8mb l3 cache), 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB, 2 TB Hard Drive - 32M Cache - 7200 RPM - 3.0Gb/s

Callisto (Hudson Leick) managed to look hardcore when she wanted as well as soft and pretty.

A really good indie (low budget) alien invasion movie is the 2010 film called Monsters. This isn't going to satisfy everyone's desire to see a widescreen action movie, because it's extremely low budget and is about two people just trying to get back to the US. It has a loose, improvisational feel to it because the actors were encouraged to wing it and the camerawork has a documentary feel to it. It's like a far superior Cloverfield, but it cost less than the catering did on that flick. The invasion in this instance is basically that of invasive species. There's no intelligent intent behind it -- the creatures are just things that grew from a contaminated space probe which crash-landed in Mexico. The special effects are competent and effective but few and far between. (SyFy could learn a lot from this movie, honestly.)

As I was watching it, I was thinking, "This is not too bad for such a micro-budget flick with modest ambitions." Then very near the end there is a hummed tune that lasts less than a second (I timed it) which utterly changes the entire movie and made it suddenly more awesome. It's akin to the split-second shot in Memento which completely changes everything you've seen, and if you aren't paying attention, you'll miss it. After I heard that brief snippet of a song, I went, "No way!" and watched the film's beginning again. Wow.

For all its bombast and money spent, it sounds like Battle: Los Angeles doesn't have that same impact. Loud and pretty can be cool, but clever is far more cool. For me, anyway.

I fear we disagree on this. I thought Battle: Los Angeles was a lot better than Monsters which I felt was painful to watch, and it was ten thousand times better than Skyline.
  6. Thank you, I forgot about Ouro.

Hmm. Some people might view it as exemplaring down tho because they would be lowering their combat levels. I've heard crazier logic on the forums.

Wait she has to be able to act too? Aren't you just the perfectionist. Next you'll be wanting believable fight scenes and decent scripts.

Repair drones can't get underneath a docked shuttle, while a hanger bay could have equipment to lift a shuttle so a drone could perform maintenance.

Yeah I just got my new tower about 2 weeks ago and I couldn't find anything that ran the game for under $700. I settled on spending a thousand and got a decent system. Still using my old monitor which is an Acer widescreen 19 or 21 inches. Too lazy to measure.

The games looks great tho. I've been running Ultramode maxed out.
  12. You guys realize that the whole they want our water thing was just a guess by a scientist trying to explain what he saw happening to a reporter. We never actually see anything from the Aliens perspective that explains the invasion.

Maybe they were draining the oceans because there's something underneath they want to get at and getting rid of the water is the easiest way to get at it. A space ship isn't necessarily going to be able to handle the pressures deep underwater. If that's the case then it makes sense to establish a perimiter around the oceans by attacking everything on the coastlines to prevent interference from the human race. Distract them with a diversionary invasion while they go after the real target by getting rid of the water.

I did have a thought on another solution. Well, my hubby came up with this one so I need to give credit where it is due. Better recipe diversification by associating recipes to a player origins. Say if you receive an accuracy and you are a magic origin you would need a luck charm and spiritual essence to create it. However if you were tech origin you would need a bore sight and computer virus. Science could be human blood sample and brass. These are just ideas. I do NOT mean that there should be a ton of different recipes that should be dropping. Just when a particular player gets the recipe it would adjust to that players origin. I am not sure how difficult that would be for the dev's but I don't mind presenting them with the challenge.

Thank you for your suggestion about AE. I was enjoying the system last night. I am saving up for some orange salvage.

If I may offer another suggestion. Have you considered making a character for a specific zone and turning off his experience? The game doesn't always have to be about getting to level 50.

I have several characters that are based on the idea that they have a city zone they protect so when they get to the right level I turn off exp and only play there. This has the advantage that they are always a source of that level salvage.

Just something else to think about.

Hey, clueless, listen up. Those same builds have been tearing through content without inherent stamina for years. Soloing rikti pylons, GMs and AVs? Soloing TFs? Done long before inherent stamina. Some builds have been very effective without stamina, period. They're certainly not "worsening everyone else's paid-for playtime," and respeccing into inherent stamina has absolutely NO reflection on how good or bad of a player they are.

Now, your post... THAT seems to highlight a bad player, or at least one who's so uptight and has such a bad case of CRI that they're best avoided as they WILL "worsen everyone else's paid-for playtime." (That's you, sunshine.)
    /this.

I wonder if he'll try to figure out what a CRI is. Maybe a clue would help him out . . . Breathe deeply. That should be a dead giveaway.

But subscription revenue has always been what consistently comprises the majority of the sales figure with occassional spikes from box releases and some promos. And depending on what promos are there, it might show up on the sales figure (assuming subs don't fluctuate enough to offset it)

Also, you might want to check that article again...they've updated it to note that the numbers are from 2Q 2009. At that time, CoX sales is about $5,179,637 which makes more sense for 125k subscribers.

Oh, just to have consistent info, that 2Q 2009 sales will also have the AE box 4/8/09, magic booster 4/17/09 and issue 14 4/8/09 and issue 15 6/29/09.
If you check my posts before you and I strted talking I never said I believed the 125k number, I just said we should save and link the article for the next doom thread. I thought it would be fun to throw it up against their depressing claims.

Also I have no reason to think Cambios wasn't telling the truth.

The points I mentioned in our discussion were made because I didn't know if you were taking them into consideration. It's real easy to reduce the math to the simplest formula and not consider contributing factors that might effect/affect (Sorry I get those two confused sometimes) the end result.

I'm pleased to hear that you are making the effort to be accurate, and I'll stop giving you a hard time over it.

The Dad sealed himself up in Shuttle #2 because they didn't have spacesuits at the time.
A few episodes later, they found some suits. With these, they could remove the body and partly fix up #2.

A few eps later, they found a planet that several people wanted to stay at. They were given Shuttle #2. It could enter an atmosphere (once) and fly around a but, but was in too bad a shape to reach space again.

A few eps later, Shuttle #1 crashed; leaving Destiny with no shuttles.

A few eps later, something that looked like #2 materialized in deep space right next to Destiny with the "remain behind" folks aboard it. They all died before the end of the episode. The shuttle was in brand-new, factory-perfect condition. The assumption is that some godlike aliens had built a copy of the shuttle and some short-lived copies of the people for mysterious reasons. Call this Shuttle #3.

This last ep: Rush went through a time-loop. They now have an identical copy of Shuttle #3 that's 12 hours older than the original, and slightly crispy. Call this Shuttle #4.

Did I get that all straight...?

And does anybody else think that they went for this whole "Dock the shuttles on the exterior of the ship" business because the production crew didn't have the budget to build a set for a hangar bay?
Thanks Thug I completely forgot that happened.

While space is at a premium it's also true that a shuttles hull is a lot easier to penetrate by random space debris or micro-meterorites than the hull of a main ship. So a shuttle docked on the outside of a ship that routinely travels thru different solar systems could easily find itself getting it's hull breached by some random unexpected debris that wouldn't scratch the bigger ship.

Unlike now where a new show only gets a quarter of a season then gets pulled for something else. Then the show returns after a 3 month hiatus and if they are lucky the same time slot and hopes to god that anyone remembers to tune back in to watch it again.

Look at what happened to SGU which didn't start getting good until after it was cancelled.

    http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/new..._cyber_mo.html

Or are you actually going to try to claim that no one bought copies of GR when it was on sale for $9.99?

When that sale started I bought 3 copies for friends as christmas gifts to get them to come back to the game, and included copies of the Architect Edition that I got off of Amazon for $5. bucks each because they came with the free booster packs.

GR complete collection was also on sale for $19.95 in November at Direct2Drive.

Those sales really screw up your math.

  21. So your solution to there being less low level salvage is to create a situation where there is less high level salvage? Because every piece of low level salvage that would drop for high level characters means a piece of highlevel salvage won't make it into the game.

    Sorry /unsigned.

Oh and just an FYI exemplaring down is not your only option to get low level salvage. You can also use AE tickets and Merits to get them, and they don't require any exemplaring.
  22. I attribute that to the fact that Vet Rewards weren't added to the game from the start. We didn't get them until just before Issue 9 and the devs didn't have a lot of stuff onhand they could use for vet rewards. Costumes and decorative Base items were about the only things available.
  23. Ya know Sam I almost referred to your posts as an example of someone who isn't a native English speaker, but I figured unless they knew you they wouldn't believe it.

With no extra slots to spend on them, there's not much of interest. For my Elec/Elec Blaster, for instance, there's not much that's very interesting from his primary or secondary. I guess he could pick up Zapp for pulls, or Voltaic Sentinel for kicks. But nothing that matters enough for me to respec immediately. My Inv/SS Tanker is another matter. Inherent Fitness allowed him to take Resist Elements and Resist Energies, along with Laser Beam Eyes because I didn't have anything else I wanted to take and it's a cool power.

Seriously, lighten up. There's a whole world of difference between not taking Dull Pain on your Invuln Tanker and not respeccing from Legacy Fitness into Inherent Fitness.
I'll just /agree with DarkGob here rather than get modsmacked.

I'll just add that while I have characters that are taking advantage of Inherent Fitness I also have characters that don't have any Fitness at all, Legacy or Inherent. And I have no intention of ever respeccing them. They're just fine the way they are.
