I know you didn't, but the general consensus or excuse I heard from players who essentially gave them the idea to start this whole market was that they "wanted to support them financially by buying" whatever it was they were selling at the time. To this day people still use that excuse.
-
All of those sale items support the Beast Mastery powerset they released last week. Though kinda wondering why they weren't on sale when the powerset was released... but ah well.
-
I don't really buy the argument that they are hurting for money and thus will take their sweet time making things because of it. If anything, they have proved that they are quite capable of putting things out quickly, it's just the incentive of profit has moved the timetable up.
And I'm not really debating on whether things like this should be charged on the Paragon Market... except for VIPs who already give them money on a monthly basis. -
Well I for one have said since DAY1 that Powersets should be free to VIP players, because of it being a core part of the gaming experience. I mean if I pay a subscription, I should be paying for all parts of the game that has already and will be released. Now if they want to tack on cosmetic items to enhance the gaming experience like costume, pets, emotes and/or add services like more costume slots then THAT is what the Paragon Market should be used for. But there is something inherently wrong about powersets having to be purchasable.

I know BM is strictly for the MM Archtype, however is it wrong of me to also want it as a secondary set for Controllers?! Here me out here... It would not be so wrong to combine Plant Control with BM, which in effect would make for a druidic themed toon?
Nah... couldn't do that... -
On a related note (( since it is on sale this week)) There is something about the German Shepard Pet that kinda bugs me (( and no it's not actually the price!)). In my personal opinion the dog is WAY too large in scale. Typically German Shepards are about as big as your waist, but these dog models are so large they when they are standing they come up to a person's chest. ((They should be Great Danes instead!)) So I really think they need to scale the size of these dog models a little. (( The Shadow Wolf for instance is pretty darned big. ))

You want to give us something for St. Patrick's Day? Put
into the game. I'm sure people would pay 800 points for that! -
800 Points?!

To start, I'd like to summarize how I view the game both from a story standpoint and a from a game play standpoint.
Contact missions should be run Solo or done with 2-3 players. My outlook on this is.. why would a large group of superheroes be taking on something so trivial as a jewelry store heist or a small group of thugs holed up in a warehouse? Story Wise it never made much sense. Somehow playing with a huge team of players to fight through story arcs took away from the uniqueness of running through your hero's own career and somehow lessened the impact of that toon as a whole. In a game progression sense, it gave you so much experience that you never really got to enjoy part of the game ( Until they added Flashbacks in Oro, but even then it feels kinda like I missed out on some stuffs.) No you can't do everything and your not meant to, but at the same time you should be able to do experience some content as you level up. This was especially the case when it came to lower levels. ((So I could never quite understand the rush to make 50 as the game has always been about getting there and not reaching it. But that's another subject entirely.))
Beyond that, I always found TFs to be the place to form teams to take on tougher crimes. Here's a case where, you and a few others need to team because the threat is so large. Story wise it made sense. In the format of game play it was also fun because it didn't really cause you to miss out on game content by leveling your toon too quickly. And Taskforces..... well they were a great way for Supergroup members to team up and play together.
iTrials... they are another thing altogether. I know it was added for endgame content with the intent on allowing players to create massive parties to take on some crazy godlike enemy the way some other MMO's allow you to do. While that might work with something like... oh say WOW for example...(( yeah I mentioned it)) it really doesn't work in this game. For a MMO that's intended for your character to be the center of attention and well "the hero" (( or the Villain)) iTrials just make you feel like your just someone who's there. You don't know what's really going on, you just do what you need to pass and that's really it. So they never really worked for this game.
So here's all these different formats in this game and so I get to the point of this post: There is something that caters to just about everyone here. I realize that my playstyle is vastly different from the next guy, a person for instance who might just enjoy getting on CoF just take on some AVs and level up their toon. That person can do what they want. I can do what I want. And everyone is happy.
That's how it used to be until we started dealing with endgame content.
Now it's either iTrial and fight with a few dozen folks or Solo and fight ridiculously easy enemies. Where's the middle ground? Why can't we level up as Incarnates just as we do during the rest of the game?
If people want to form large groups in DA and fight AVs, why can't they do it? If they want to Solo EBs in DA, why can't they do it? And that's really the question posed to the Devs here. If the option to this was there, players would be happy. And that's really the whole point of this topic. Giving the player a choice in the matter.
So, You know what I really want to know?
Why did we stop using iTaskforces like Tin Mage to continue on with endgame content? I haven't seen anything like that since we started doing iTrials. I sure thought they worked alot better because they were alot less confusing, your group had to depend on each other to have success and the fights were fun and challenging. (( Again some might not agree with this but it's all in the player's outlook. )) Would it have been something else if DA ended with a nice TF at the end? Sure would have... ((Assuming there's not. Haven't played the whole content yet.))
I know the Devs are gonna do what they're gonna do, but well at least it's all here on the table.
Edit: and to SlyGuyMcFly - Grunnerkrig Court. Nice! *thumbsup* -
Y'know, the sad thing is I came here checking the price fully expecting it to be around 400 points. And even though it's way cheaper then that, I have to agree with everyone else that it's still overly expensive.
I'd wait for a sale.... but they don't really put much on sale that often.
Also, I don;t think they really care if we think it's overpriced. They won't change it. -
This is actually the first year it's being done in Talos. With the loss of Galaxy City, we've had to change venues.
Well I hope everyone has fun! -
At the same time, they could have waited a week after the new Issue to release this set and made sure it had no problems. But instead they've made themselves look bad because now it shows they would rather rush things out instead of making sure they give out a quality release. And the reason they do that: $$$$
-
For the record I wasn't blaming anyone. Was just merely making a point that in the process of rushing to release things week after week, some things get missed.
-
They couldn't wait a week or two to release the finished product? Honestly it's all about trying to get something new out on the market week after week. When they're rushed to get things out, stuff gets overlooked. Case in point: They still need to fix the toes on the females dressed in the new strapped heels they released for the Valentine's Day Civilian set.
This is not something to blame the devs for though... it's probably marketing that pushes for release. -
If it's not finished, don't release it. No offense. I;d rather see a high quality finished project then a rushed unfinished one.
That said the pieces look pretty nice. Looks like something I might pick up down the road.
Costume slot is still expensive but that's excusable since it's account wide. -
Never got involved with the discussion on the whole Paragon points issue dates, though it seems like one overly messed up process.
If your up at two in the morning, you should be playing City of Freedom instead of browsing the forums. -
And remember.... your not Golden until your Golden Age.
-
Look at it this way... at least they'd be showing the players that they're making an attempt to listen. Sometimes it seems most of our comments are just unnoticed or ignored, so it might be nice to know that some of our thoughts might be taken into consideration. Again they wouldn't have to follow any of the suggestions we might put out... but at least they will have shown an attempt to listen.
-
I hope you make a Open Discussion topic asking for player feedback about the Paragon Market on these forums. Anywhere you make it though, I'd be grateful for a link.
-
The only real thing I'd like to say is that, yes... most of the items on the market are overly priced. I could find myself using my points for stuff if I didn't have to invest so much in them. Those prices just turn me away.
-
Man why even play the game anymore. Just buy your way to success. Next up: Incarnate Powers on the Market.
-
Rather put my points into a sure thing. No thanks.
-
Quote:Quantity over quality. Bear in mind, it used to be the other way around. Then people started giving them money...
We are getting a _lot_ of broken or poorly thought through costume pack right now. I'm getting very sick of item-x-is-missing-from-category-y just because.
Hey look folks, I get it that the dance stuffs and Pocket D pass might be bonuses, but I don't think it would be asking too much to actually get some new dance emotes instead. For those that don't have those dances yet or the Pass, I would say this is the perfect time to pick up them up. But for those that already have that stuff, we kinda get the short end of the stick on this.
Despite all this.... I still will end up getting this. Because I like civilian clothes and can forsee using them in future RPs. Buy I;d still like to make one observation about them. They so remind me of this:
-
For me, it isn't even about the limited time deal (( though it is completely ludicrous that civilian costume parts are limited time purchases)). What gets me is the fact that in order to "save" points, I need to buy a pack that already has stuff that I have already previously purchased e.g. Dance emotes and VIP Pass. Why are these on here? One party Pack gives me all of these emotes. Why should I have to pay for something I already have? It comes off as greedy.

Most likely there will be no Freedom Phalanx. Statesman is dead, Psyche is in a coma and Manticore is busy helping her get well. If the Phalanx stays then they'd have to make some serious roster changes. The only person to take a leadership role would probably be Positron (( coincidence?)), but maybe they might promote Ms. Liberty.
