Man, I need to get a villian up to speed on Freedom so I can party with you guys. Any suggestions?

I find speed running things like ITF on my scrapper to be the most fun I've had playing this game over the past year, usually because with the people I run with, I find myself zipping ahead of the team trying to solo the cysts on a def based toon (51s still get me down for now). I also like causing lag with my shield charge when we herd up the towers. After I finished my scrapper's build, there isn't much I like doing "slow" on him.
Now, if I'm running ITF for the sole reason of getting XP for the toon I'm on, I'll mellow out and run at the team's pace. If we want to take out the cysts with the ambush, and everything around it, fine by me. That's just more inf in my coffers.
[/ QUOTE ] I've literally done the ITF 100s of times on Tabby. In my opinion, Speed ITF is kinda like MoSTF. It only works with a little practice, patience and everybody fully paying attention to direction. lol
I find the speed runs only work when everybody is 100% on the same page. You get one person that doesn't keep up, and somebody else tries to go back and save them, or kill the unnecessary ambush.. then half the team ends up staying back, and the other half is moving forward. There usually ends up not being enough support to efficiently speed through anymore, and it turns out you were better off bulldozing the map together.
If everybody runs forward together, the ambush wont continue to follow, and if the tank runs forward and agros the groups inbetween cysts, the squishy teammates can easily make it past. But many times, they are too scared to try, or see the taunt as an opportunity to attack, and when the tank moves on to the grab the agro from the cyst mob, the squishy ends up dying.
With a few regular focused people, we would still end up with 40 minute times, but I can imagine it isn't any fun for the people sitting back getting killed cause they zigged when they should have zagged. lol
With a full team of regulars, all focused on specific goals, that's when you get sub30 times. After playing together several times and learning how each other plays, you end up getting closer and closer to 20 minutes. Players can split up with a designated path to follow on the map so we're saving the girls or killing the cysts twice as fast (for example).
For me, Speed ITF is pretty much a thing of the past. Since ITF isn't as popular as it used to be, It's harder to get an ideal team, so I find it much better to play through the whole mission "as intended" instead. I even ramp it up to invincible sometimes, just for an extra challenge. Then I stick around and clear the final map too.

MB ... you want to teach me your special ITF trick sometime? How about Thursday night? I can bring my fire/kin for that one so we don't have 2 tanks. -
[ QUOTE ]
Glad everyone had fun. Hope everyone that signed up & made it got on a team. If not, it wasn't for lack of trying. We had an awesome team! I forgot to get a screen of the results. Hopefully someone else did.
[/ QUOTE ]Thanks for setting this up Fox. I had a blast. I'm looking forward to doing an ITF again. I think my tank is going to be parked there for the duration ... -
I've read this on the forums myself. That to me makes them fairly valuable as well...

BTW, I did an ITF last night and about filled up my salvage storage. I'm just saying...

depends really.. 8 tickets gets you a random common roll right?
I i have 59< alot of times and if i have room i roll for commons.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't want to sound like more of a dick than I really am (oh yeah, I am one!) but it doesn't really depend at all. The most you can reasonably hope to get for your commons on average is like 50k each. 9 commons (okay let's say 10 just to make the math easy) = 1 bronze roll. If you're making more than 500k per bronze roll on average (and I am), you're throwing money away by rolling common salvage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. However, BC might be thinking the convience factor outweighs the opportunity costs. I can't say I think the same myself but maybe that's his thought process. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've been collecting common salvage from tickets and listing everything at 10k regardless of going rate and making a killing. If people want to waste their infl, I'm not gonna stand in there way. I've been able to fully slot (w/sets) my Fire/Nrg blaster at lvl 35 and will have more then enough to slot my Rad/Ice Fender when the time comes.
Thank You lazy Folks!

10k? That's too low. Add a zero. -
I bought a Posi IO last night for 555 myself...

I am confused on the new drop rate, please someone explain it in stupid terms?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok stupid terms. New drop rate.
You get 1 chance each time you kill somone.
Then you gotta wait 5 min before you get another chance against the same person.
[/ QUOTE ]
I still don't understand
Just kidding, does this allow PvP drops in the Arena or are they no longer dropping there?
[/ QUOTE ]
They are dropping in the Arena as well. -

Personally, I'd save my belittling for people who locked down entire zones for several hours a day.

I am buying [censored] recipes for [censored] inf. I craft them and sell them for [censored] inf... so.... about 7400% profit.
Am I doing good?
And for the life of me... I haven't figured out why you evil market guys/gals haven't come in and stole this gig from me.

Hi FluShots....
Fair enough.... it's greater than 10,000,000 and less than 20,000,000 per transaction. That is as close as I am going to get ya.
I still think this [censored] recipe has some play in it... at least until someone steals it from me.

[/ QUOTE ]
So if I am doing my math right then you are buying a recipie for between 135,135 - 270,270 and selling the crafted IO for $10,135,135 - $20,270,270.
Does your 7400% return include crafting costs, salvage costs and listing/selling fees?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
The salvage is free via tickets and the total crafted cost is less than your high-end number.
edit: is a bit less than your high-end number for recipe cost.
BC
[/ QUOTE ]
So we are ignoring salvage costs but what about crafting costs and listing costs? And from your edit the recipe cost is around $200k and the total sale price of the IO is <$20M, correct?
I'll find this one yet ... (but I won't advertise it. I'll send you a PM...) -
[ QUOTE ]
I'll have to bring Alt for both of these. Also my kid killed my mic so no more vent for me untill i can get to the store that has good mics.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch. Did you bury it or cremate it? -
[ QUOTE ]
Zonal or arena makes no difference, same 5 min timer. Without a major increase to drop rates its pure luck.
[/ QUOTE ]
So the point of your post was to say "Random is Random" then I agree. Each time you have a 1% chance to drop a PVP IO. -
[ QUOTE ]
The change on test fixes nothing. You are still restricted to a timer. One chance at a recipe every 5 minutes. So 10-12 kills per hour vs the 720 per hour the old way. The old way yielded an average of 2 recipes per hour on that 720 kills. So how many do you think will drop on 12 kills per hour without a major drop rate increase?
Its really nice that now the timer does not restart with each kill so it is a true 5 minutes between rep but it does nothing for recipe drops.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I see some errors in your numbers but I think I see your point.
10-12 kills per hour is for only one toon. With the change on test BOTH toons playing will be eligible thus doubling the drops. Also, I find it hard to believe that you were getting 720 kills per hour. That would be a kill every 5 seconds, hell even 72 kills per hour is one every 50 seconds. It is probably more likely that you were averaging about 60 kills per hour. Therefore, 60 chance for drops (old) vs. 20-24 chance for drops (new).
Now, I see your point but still think this is a much better ruleset then we currently have. To me it appears that someone with common sense heard our complaints and thought up a realistic solution.
I agree that I'd prefer to just go back to the pre "bug" version but it appears the developers want to fix something with PVP IO drops... -

you know it's a good sale when you can't collect your inf without bid-parking a bunch so you don't go over the cap.

im just trying to figure out how they drop now...its clear they either took them out of the arena all together or their stil broke
course ya cant get a dev to comment on anything when they break stuff
grats to ya though...im saving mine for iss 16..by that time everything will double what your gettin
[/ QUOTE ]
It is fairly complicated but they do drop in the arena. Once the drop rate is updated with the version currently on the test server then you should see the drops come back. -

Well 7400% of 1 is not worth my time ... so how about posting your GROSS profits? -
So they don't want to generate the salvage and are willing to pay a nice chunk of cash for them ... and this should make me WANT to sell them the salvage at a lower price?! Ummm, what am I Congress now? No thanks, I'll stick to my non-charitable ways...

You could day the ebil part is the deletion of under 500k. In due time, the shortage will make them rise, making them not be worth less than 500k anymore?
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually use several of the sets I've been deleting. It makes me sad that people don't bother slotting full sets if they're not FOTM. OTOH, I get sweet IO's and good set bonuses for essentially the cost of the salvage to craft them since the recipes are like 1k or 10k each. I'll take advantage while I can. MWAHAHA!!

Still's superpower "SCROUNGER" .... "hey you gonna finish that IO?" -
Are Merits doubled during DXP?
