rather than having nice shiny boxes in nice shiny stands in major game shops for the casual walk past buyer to go "oooooo that looks fun" the way I did.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are still failing to grasp that they could print as many nice shiny boxes as they want but there is nothing they can do to make retailers put them on the shelves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I agree, but they also can't stock what they can't GET. Anyway, if they're insistent on the digital download method, then they should at least be talking to the people at Steam as a distribution channel. At least then more people would become aware of the game!

    [u]Kitty gone stray?[u]

From one of our photographers I have received some dashing news about the hero Tiger White.

We all know she is happily married to the Mistress of Gravity, but this photo shows this bouncy Tiger may be straying towards something totally different!
The two of them were seen at Hotel Geneva in Atlas Park.
Does Tiger White have a second life we don't know of?
Who is that man...and what else is she hiding?

(( Sorry I'm a bit late on this, been busy. ))

    Email received from: tiger.white@unityvigil.com
    Subject: BlaBlaBla Article

    Dear Sirs,

It has come to my attention that you are printing baseless lies regarding myself and my private life in your online publication, BlaBlaBla!, and I am contacting you to demand an immediate withdrawal of the article attached (link enclosed), and a public apology.

As is publicly known, I do not consort with males of ANY kind beyond basic friendship, and the picture in the attached article is a clear forgery. The model you used couldn't even get the hairstyle right, and there's no way I'd be seen alive OR dead in that outfit.

I will give you 48 hours to comply with my demand, before I begin legal proceedings for defamation of character.

    Sincerely

    Ellie Stoneberg

Another thing that only the yanks get, just like actual contact from the Devs, closed Beta invites, etc...
(Yeah, we're getting closed betas now, but for the first time ever since launch woop de doo )

    [/ QUOTE ]

We've had closed beta invites since at least I6 - they just gave access to the US servers for the beta period so you could access the US test server.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correction, we've had ONE incidence of EU players being invited to the EU beta, though those players did access the US server. That's not what's going to happen this time, as part of the test is the cross-continental transfer of arcs.
  5. Good point about the 5th anniversary date. Hmm... Timing is REALLY tight, isn't it?

I have strong doubts about i15 coming out on the anniversary date... By now, we'd have heard some concrete details about it if so... They've probably just got some kind of game event in mind for that instead, and save i15 for around June time, when CO is due to launch.
  6. 12th?!? But they're not even in open beta yet, let alone our CLOSED beta not having started yet! There's just no way it'll be March 12th, there's not enough time. April 12th, maybe... But March? That's next week!

    EDIT: beaten by everyone!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'd have thought you'd be used to that by now...
  9. Not really... The majority of people running MA missions are likely to be running them more for story than reward...

    MA Question

    [ QUOTE ]
You can, the save menu is visible in the screenshots.

Critters are saved as .critter files.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Absolutely awesome!

So, that's a costume repository, a critter repository... What else?
  11. FloatingFatMan

    MA Question

    [ QUOTE ]
Just had a thought as well, with the nice "save cossie" feature and the MA coming up it might be nice to have a respository of peoples fav cossies for others to download and use in the MA for their arcs.

Of course half the fun of CoH is messing around the cossie editor but if one was happy for people to use their mains or alts 'fairly' (ie not saying things like "I'm a stupid-head" as their AV dialog) it could be useful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To expand on that, I'm hoping that the custom critter creator lets us save the entire critter spec (it would make sense to allow this!). Then we could set up a "Critter Repository" for custom mobs we create that others might want to use! Hell, people could make entire custom villain/hero groups for others to populate their missions with!

Plus a MA architect channel sounds like a good idea as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're WAY behind the times there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What's the channel called?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, not at my PC at home right now to check, but IIRC, it's called Mission Architect... Ask Mumsie!

  14. I think you just flag them as co-op.

What interests me more is destructible objects!
  15. [ QUOTE ]

And you've to get there in a manner like old school Hollows mission runs, darting between wandering mobs, hoping they don't notice you. Not my defination of "easy walking"

More recent mission arcs in CoH like Faultine and the RWZ tend to be more self contained (with the exception of that stupid Cimmoria mission where I was sent to Founders to get beaten up by Ghost Widow, although the Ouro portal got me there fairly quickly).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Plus, a lone hero can take on 3 or 4 even con minions without a problem... What exactly is going to happen to you if you try THAT in WoW, in the lower levels at least?

A trip to the cemetery is what, followed by another long walk...
  16. [ QUOTE ]

You mean the game where almost* all the quests you get in a given area are within easy walking distance from the quest giver? That game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You neglected to mention that, unless you actually know the map in WoW fairly well, you could spend half an hour even finding where the quest location IS without plugins like QuestHelper!
  17. [ QUOTE ]
No, my gripe is with contacts that send you to nearly EVERY zone in Paragon, especially those ones that are complete swines to get to. Such as Creys, faultline (NEEDS a monorail line!) amongst others.
    Horribly planned, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh, Creys takes 30 seconds to get too from Bricktown, and is a Hazard zone anyway, so no monorail.
Faultline has the Pocket D entrance, and there's a monorail station in Skyway right next to the Faultline entrance, how is that inconvenient?

Mind you, I do agree about the contacts sending you all over the sodding place...

Anway, I hope you don't play WoW... You REALLY wouldn't like getting around in THAT game!
  18. Same here. Union server only though.

EDIT: Never mind... It's decided to start working again.

    New Retail Box

    [ QUOTE ]

Yes I know...but what your talking about is adding a code to an EU account that already exists , I'm talking about a brand new player. Will they get the CohUpdater.EU.exe or the CohUpdater.US.exe

    [/ QUOTE ]

But that's exactly what it IS going to be. A code to apply to an existing account, or an updater which will download the game for you, either EU or US depending on what you choose, exactly as it is now.
  20. Yeah.. I think you guys are getting a WEE BIT too explicit now...

    New Retail Box

    [ QUOTE ]
But anyway what I said still stands even if it will be a download client for the EU....which version will it be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What would be the point? It'll download exactly the same way the game does now... No ISO image or anything like that; just a small updater that then downloads the rest of the game. You can already pay extra for the booster packs, so the Architect Edition download will be no different to doing something like buying the Mac Edition, really...

I'd have bought a physical box, as I really really want updated discs, but a download only? Waste of money, as I'm not really interested in the magic booster pack, none of my chars are magic.

    New Retail Box

    [ QUOTE ]
Hey guys n gals...look I see a new box being shipped out as a good thing, EVE online our about to try this too....a game that is about as old as COX...also just as well known. The EVE playerbase see a new retail box as a good thing, it can only expand there payerbase and fun.

So i think the COX playerbase should see the retail box in the same light.

I am interested to find out which version of the client is coming to the EU shores though...EU or US...that would be very interesting to know don't you think?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please, read the thread. The new retail box is US only. We're not getting it, period.

    [ QUOTE ]

WoW still sells, this dont, thats the difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because NC has failed to aggressively market the game, that's why.

    [ QUOTE ]

Sadly i got to agree with you there.

This lot missed the advertising boat years ago, i think advertising it now a waste of money for the return they are going to get.

They should have grabbed the customers while they had a monopoly on the super hero game market.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree that they missed the FIRST advertising boat years ago, but now, with competition not far away, NOW is a perfect opportunity to tell people about a superhero MMO that's ALREADY on the market. They don't HAVE to wait ages for something that's not out yet, they can be a hero NOW.

It's not often a game has a second window of opportunity, but CoH is getting one, and NC West aren't jumping on it... again...
