Theme/Concept: Essentially it formed as a vanity SG for Flea however it can easily develop into a small mercenary group based around the principle of 'freedom'.

Activity: So far it's just me. Activity is...well...variable. I'm here a fair bit.

And for people saying it doesn't suit the superhero genre?

Well, let's be honest. CoH has a lot of other genres in it. CoT, Wailers, the Mu. All supernatural types. Then you have other references to the supernatural in the different ghosts and spectres available.

And we are of course forgetting one big name who uses blades.

Blade.

Then we can dabble into the fact that Wolverine has used blades in the past. As has Captain Britain. Thor actually uses a damn warhammer which isn't exactly iconic hero in its nature and closer to mythology and fantasy.

It's not the appearance or equipment used by a 'hero' that makes them as such. It's the reasons they fight. This game encourages creativity and allows people to create their own characters.

Uh huh. Tell yourself that. Superheroes ain't exactly a staple genre itself, having a mix of westerns, war stories, fantasy, high adventure, sci fi and horror in it...

Theory- MMs in bodyguard mode with the Presence Pool.
Brutes aren't tanks any more than scrappers are. But finding a MM with the Presence Pool I fear may not be possible.

Eh, I would offer to help but considering that's the equivalent of a mass murderer offering charity shops some assistance....

I would say this- for the spike teams, if they are particularly stalker heavy I'd say go for Cold as one of the support as a definate. Stalkers are squishy. Really, damn squishy and the +HP buff that /Cold corruptors give brings stalkers to at least blaster levels meaning they don't drop in numbers to a large AoE.

Also, as +Regen seems to be a big anchor blueside perhaps a special mention should go to /TA masterminds, who through placing Oil Slicks can create a sort of (damnit, forgot the terminology...wait) beachhead for the Assault Teams, considering Oil Slick is targetable and both Cold and Thermal's odd +recovery, +regen buffs (might be thermal only actually) is AoE and requires a target to use.

And truth be told? You'll probably want Brutes over Stalkers for just about all of the teams any day of the week. Sadly the endgame for CoV is very much a matter of DPS over spike damage and stalkers seriously lack the DPS, even if they're Claws. Ah well, here's to one of the dying breeds of ATs.

Personally, I think its going to come down to what their purpose is. The Vanguard's purpose according to what we've read is to seek out Rikti tech and then keep it out of the hands of individuals who would do bad things with it. That means EVERYBODY trying to get their hands on it..Heroes included.

I see villians doing the most fighting against them, but I also can see heroes coming to odds with them because they're either aliens themselves, non-humans, and/or "We specialize in fighting the Rikti, just stay out of our way rookie". Maybe missions where you run into them raiding a base and you end up having to fight both because their orders are to "Leave no survivors". Yeah, its another "We know best" group, but it doesnt have to take on the constantly sinister and "Wow the heroes are jerks" level that the rest of the game puts off from time to time.

Arachnos also uses Rikti technology, just check out the info on the Arachnos Flier next time you see it in Mercy Island, I'd also assume that their drones are based off it as well.

I actually did have an alt for a while who was that much of an extremist...he hated and I mean hated all non-humans.
