This is actually true. A friend of a friend of a friend of someone's second cousin's brother in law's daughter's friend twice removed said on some forum in Kenya that he signed up for CoH US, and was given a Level 50 Freespec for ALL ATs, Epic ATs from the start, and ED/GDN exemption codes, on top of a free key-chain, and I find that disgusting.

I fully support Sorudo's idea of actual melee attacks for melee characters. This whole idea of swords = melee is rubbish. They're not standing right next to you when you swing your sword/hammer/orange at them, so they're short-ranged attacks. Note the 'ranged' part.

Soreudo has the right idea, but the implementation could be even better. Ice spikes (you mean stalegmites?) shooting up from the ground would still count as range...we need a little ice-fist to burst out from the toons' chest and WHAMMO! Cold Hand of Fate.

Seconded. I fail to see how a paid-MMO suddenly becoming F2P means it'd get more subscribers.

1. It'd ring alarm bells in many peoples heads, suggesting that it's not WORTH paying for.
2. People who've paid for the X amount of time they've already played will feel more than a little cheated.

I've been trying to think of a good way to make a post about this since it was first announced. I didn't want to join in on the other thread, because I didn't think I could properly form my thoughts on the matter without cursing a lot of people and factors, most of which I'm not aware of.

Stephen, I'm truly sorry to see you go. Over the past few years, you've changed from "Bridgers boss with the scary eyes oh no I have to e-mail him and he's going to hate me" into someone I respect and genuinely like as a person. I think it's a horrible shame that this whole thing has happened, and each and every person here will be the worse off for it.

Sadly, I can't make it to your leaving drinkathon, due to work commitments, but I honestly wish I were going, to help see you and the others off in style. You'll be sorely missed, and I think you deserve more than a couple of pints for all the time, effort, and energy you've put into this game.

I see your point, but if you had hundred albeit thousands of super villains, chances are many would team up to take out Recluse, or go after Recluse first before dealing with the competition. After all these 'others' have done nothing to you, while Recluse is a very big target.

I call it a tactical error, although I see, given the right conditions it could be a tactical success.

I think either way it could go would be a tactical success. Anyone who would truly be the Destined One wouldn't have a problem climbing their way up to the top, disposing of their competition and then Recluse at the end, guaranteeing the Destined Ones' power and glory. If lesser beings banded together, they'd either lose at the hands of Recluse, or depose him, making it theoretically easier for the true Destined One to pick them off one at a time, and thus guaranteeing his/her success. Even if the Destined One was one of the ones banded together with lesser villains, they'd probably betray the others at a critical moment, letting Recluse finish them off to show his/her loyalty, and then disposing of Recluse when he's a little more End-drained. Of course, if a non Destined One did that, the true Destined One would still have no problems with finishing off the pretender, as they're destined to do so.

Any way you look at it, really, the Destined One will win.
