  1. Everything.

On Virtue, before the PDP and Pocket D, the place RPers used to gather was Galaxy Park. Galaxy City was where the RPers would start, you could get lowbie teams with people playing IC, and then head to the park for RP with others. A lot of my high-level character spent time "cleaning" the park so that lowbie RPers could get there without fear.

Atlas was so noisy, so crowded, so annoying, so full of constant SEWER TEAM FORMING! - I started one character there and then never again. I have started every one of my character that wasn't a villain or a Praetorian in Galaxy City, and BAB is my favorite trainer. I make sure I train every 50 with him, just like (almost) every level 2 trained with him.

Galaxy is one of the nicest zones in the game, and the one I knew best for years, back when leveling was hard and I ended up with LOTS of lowbies and only a few characters straggling over the 30s hump. I'm going to miss that place
  2. I'm not asking what it is, I do not want to know.

I'm just wondering if there's a new one out, or what? I haven't seen this many people on Virtue crying for AE groups and PLing since the Incarnate system first was announced and the monkey sploit was active so people were shooting to 50 in a hurry to take part in that. (Haha, I say unto them! You got to 50 to just grind THAT instead of AE! Haha!)

The most relevant point to this topic based on the video Sam posted the link to, is DON'T SELL POWER, and I agree with that. Ninja/Beast run, even the Sands/Axe Staff/Wand powers (though they should be the extremely rare outlier in my opinion) are okay as far as I'm concerned. They're just one thing, and useful enough to make them attractive. Selling powersets, on the other hand... I'm very uneasy about.
I don't think that DON'T SELL POWER refers to things like classes or powersets. You can complete the game in just as much, or more, ease and comfort as a scrapper or brute of any stripe. If you don't have Titanic Weapons available to you, it in no way shifts the balance of power. Having TM won't help you beat the game, or other players.

I think what they're talking about is something that I've seen in the game about Singular Jewelry - which I bought a lifetime for, so I'm still there occasionally, mostly PvPing. There are potions, power boosts, speed boost, damage boosts, etc in their store. Only one side in PvP has access to the store - the other side does not. Therefore, the things they are selling in the store DRASTICALLY change the balance of PvP in that game, because they are literally selling power over other players in the store.

Powersets in CoX would only be equivalent if they were locking up the really powerful, easy-to-solo sets - say, Scrappers and Brutes - and only allowing free players to run on Defenders and Blasters (yes, I know Defenders are godly powerful, but low levels without defenses or attack slotting are very hard and you are very squishy if you don't know what you're doing!) Locking up specific powersets should be fine as long as those powersets are not arguably more powerful than what's already available.

Also, I want to say I've been a paying customer for 7 years and, aside from unlocking my alpha slot, I take no part whatsoever in the Incarnate content. I hate the implementation and have no interest in raiding in this game, so I don't. And yet, I find plenty of fun and interesting things to occupy my time, as I have for the years previous. I don't think locking people out of the Incarnate system is really a big deal.

Yes, the exact same server I've been on for... seven years now. What does that have to do with anything? I'm not afraid of the freebies, I have no intention of xferring to the VIP server whether or not Virtue because one. This is about logistics and lag.

Maybe the devs could make Virtue and Freedom Premium servers so existing communities would remain intact.
Now THAT is an awesome idea!
  5. *sighs*

Again, people, read the dang OP. I'm not afraid of the freebies, and I'm not trying to be elitist or snotty.

People WILL choose the most crowded servers to play on when they start a new game, almost without fail. Freedom and Virtue are ALREADY under heavy load and contain most of the game's population.

I just think that spreading the new influx of players to servers that NEED more players, instead of two that are already stuff to the gills, would be a GOOD thing.
  6. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not posting this because I fear the freebies, and I'm not posting this because I don't feel like moving my characters to the Freem server, or whatnot.

I'm posting this because, every night, Freedom and Virtue have three red bubbles through most of the evening.

It seems to me that driving traffic to the other servers would be a lot more beneficial to the game than bogging down the two most already-populated servers with a lot more people. Because, and you can check the forums of just about any game, F2P or not, the first post most new people make is "what server has the most people, so I can play there?"

Those servers already have issues dealing with the lag (not all the time, certainly) and places like WW, train stations, RWZ and Oro are already crowded and lagtastic.

I know that the devs have repeatedly said they value and are going to be protective of the interests of people who are already playing and paying (and have been) - why not preserve the interests of what is probably your largest chunk of customers by preserving those two servers? It would keep the "culture" of both servers intact, prevent them from becoming completely overloaded every night, and would have the added benefit of helping the population grow on some of the smaller servers.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, I did. The corset still does the weird boob-clipping and the back and sides are out of whack. The only thing that seems to fix it is to wear the jacket over it :-/
  8. Seriously, I have a whole character I can't even play right now without wincing because ALL her costumes use that corset. Please, can we get an update and a hotfix? Pretty pretty please?

    BUT - it's a narrow niche appeal.
Just like those enormous titanic weapons, right??

NOTE: I don't believe we're getting this in I21. It was more just that the possibility was even discussed.
I would seriously kill for APP/Pool customization. Or even the ability to turn the effects OFF. The pink scribbles all over my darkblue/black themed Mind/Storm controller from the Psi APP armor makes me scream. Not to mention TURNING OFF HASTEN FX!

Take the three attacks, repurpose the Hell on Earth animation as an attack, add a utility power and that's 5 powers. Maybe another whip power (a PBAoE spin perhaps), and the last three maybe being easier to animate blasts (or some oddball power).
And that's why I have a petless Demon MM. Hate the huge noisy gross pets, LOVE that attack set.

    Yup, I do!

I originally decided that there was no one more likely to be wanted on teams than a healer (right?? I know, I know...) so I rolled Trillium, an Emp/Dark version of a very loved Amber Diceless character. She was the original "all heals all buffs no attacks" healer, I'm ashamed to say. She certainly couldn't solo, but my buddy had an NRG blaster and we duoed, making it almost to 40, back in the day when leveling was hard and getting a level a day was godly fast, LOL. Then my buddy got a job, stopped playing much, re-joined the game with his girlfriend, and Trillium sort of got shelved.

I made friends with a guy in an SG I'd joined on an alt, rolled a Dark/Dark defender to duo with him, and woke up to the truth of debuffs > heals. We rocked her to 50, so she was my first, and I respecced Trillium based on what I'd learned from Eidolon, so that her attacks were 6 slotted AND she was still an awesome healer/buffer and could solo.

BTW, the friend I met and duoed Eidolon with has been my best buddy and gaming partner for the past almost 7 years now He was 15 when we met and he's out of college now, and we've played 5 MMOs together... but we still keep coming back here

I still play Trillium - several versions of her, in fact. The defender and widow versions are both 50, and her scrapper version is 38 now
  15. I hate to be so broad, but I played through every single arc in Praetoria (several characters, froze xp in every zone, etc) and THAT was some damn good stuff. I really really enjoyed it.

The Protean arc in Talos, I'll throw another vote on that pile too. My poor double!

The arc where you find out where Crey's Paragon Protectors come from... the first time I played that one through, my poor character's head almost exploded!

But previously, we have been allowed to choose our own teammates and how many of them we want to tool around with, with relative impunity. Even the TF/SF - very few of them require a full team.

I prefer to hang out with the 3-4 people I play regularly with. Previously to the incarnate system, this was plenty. We could solo when we wanted to, get together and run missions together when we want a glorious cascade of destruction of many mans, and even invite PuG people to fill out our teams when we were adventurous or wanted to do a TF that required more folks.

OTOH, the Trials are a complete departure from this. You're pretty much forced to play with a load of strangers, there's not much socializing getting done, and the small group/solo play is such a long path to advancement that it basically doesn't exist.

I, like many others, really loved the shard system, and enjoyed it immensely. I could run a TF/SF and snag a whole component, or just rampage around on missions and get shards to turn into components. It was pretty much the perfect system. Why they decided to "fix" this to FORCE people to do the League thing is beyond me.

The problem really is that CoX has, from the ground up, pretty much offered ALL options for advancement to its players. You want to solo all the way up? That's cool. Want to team all the way up? You can do that. Want to sit in AE and never leave one building while you get to 50? We got that. Want to do TFs every single day until you hit 50? That's available. Story arcs or random scanners, teaming or not teaming, there has ALWAYS been an EQUALLY VIABLE WAY to get where you're going.

Now, there isn't. THAT is the problem.

    1. Can you think of any concepts that make sense with conventional Weapon sets, but don't make sense with Titanic weapons?

    2. Do you have any weapon characters? If so (assuming the set contains all classes of weapons), which ones are you leaving as is, and which ones are you remaking into Titanic weapons? Why?

    3. Has hearing about Titanic Weapons given you any new ideas? Has it given you a new spin on old ideas?
    1. Yes.

    2. Yes.

    3. No.

I've got quite a few weapons characters, but sorry to say, I hate the idea of the whole "giant weapon-small person" thing. I hated it in WoW and I wouldn't go creating any on purpose. I like my weapons characters to have weapons that make sense with their bodies.

    Yeah, I feel the same.

EVERY character of mine for the last 7 years has gone to GC instead of AP. I loathe AP, and GC is where the RPers would always gather and hang out. It's so much quieter, and of course, it had Back Alley Brawler.

Where is BAB going to stand now? They'd better not be writing him out! I NEED to train my 50th level with BAB every time!!
  22. Is anyone else having this problem?

I play in a regular small group and we're all having trouble with our team window not updating. This can be a real pain because everyone's healthbar is empty with the zone name or "mission map" to the side, as if people are still loading into the zone/mission, long into the mission. That means we don't know when people need heals, etc. Sometimes it comes back right away, sometimes it's gone the whole mission.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    No, you actually don't.

This argument is always frustrating to me. Not everyone's character is a mask-and-cape superhero. For some characters, it's their daily job and there's no secret identity involved. Some characters are just magical beings who are out doing good. Some characters are undercover Resistance or Loyalist characters, signing up as "Heroes" in order to spy on the works in Primal Earth. Some characters are villains and don't need a super-hero moniker.

Whatever the case, it is absolutely false to say that you HAVE to have <Adjective> <Noun> Silver-Age superhero names. You can run a random string of syllables together and be a djinn whose master ordered her out to fight crime so he can stay home and watch TV. It's up to you who your character is.
