    C4 - The New S4!

Lovely to see yet another PvP Event being organised – GREAT (no matter what the rules are)

I think the rules where are fine, I would be more than happy to use none of the 4 main Travel Power and loose my HO’s so not to give anyone the chance of cheating by duplicating their existing Hamio’s.

The problem is there’s no way you could possibly up hold rules like that, you got to keep these big events simple – I can see it now 4 minutes into a match… “OMG I SAW HIM WITH SS ON!” and so the arguments would begin.

A C4 team consists of either four heroes or four villains of different archetypes. I would like to see 5 (Pentad Rules) might be just me, I don’t think I’ll bother talking about the Subs.

I’m not sure about not allowing Villains and Heroes to mix and match either, as again I like the idea and it sounds very nice on paper but I’m not sure whether there will be a great turn out for the Villains side of the event. They don’t really have the same amount of Arena PvPing going on as Heroes do, I’ve found most Villains made for PvP are indented to compliment a Hero team, not to make an all out Villain Squad. I could be wrong of course, but you may find the Villain Side of C4 could be rather dull solely due to the number of players available to take part. Although with it being cross-server numbers may be fine, still less than Heroes but enough to give a good Villains Tournament – Hopefully this will be the case.

One more thing, I’ve read the CoHmpendium Forums as well and some comments over the event rules are SO mean, just remember they’re only trying to organise a decent PvP Event for all of us to enter. Some rules are pants but their intentions are good none the less. Not saying don’t ask for the rules to be changed, just do it nicely

So it was the powersets not skill that helped you win?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
It’s skilful just to enter the arena up against any decent PvP player or players and not get annihilated. There where other teams with cage in the competition with the same tactic and I didn’t see them winning, which kind of goes to show you must need some sort of skill to make it work. Although the ATs and power choices out weighed the amount of skill needed for us, it’s also in a way skilful to know what ATs and powers you’re going to need to counter what you’re up against; with our team we could counter almost if not anything thrown at us which was out ultimate goal before the event.

There were no other Sonic + Empath teams, which is the key to why you won. Fort enabled you to hit with cage everytime and boosted your defence so you were harder to hit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats exactly my point, there where other teams with cage, expecting to cage 1 player like we did, there was even a Grav/Sonic, having 2 caging moves. We where the ones who made the cage work by using the empath as a combo for the a mez protection on each player so we could drag out the matches and the big +Acc on Fortitude so it would hit, even having a huge slow resistance from AB so the cage would be recharged in time even with a major slow debuff on him, Lingering Rad etc.
  4. Thought that would be ok as long as we don't acutally use 3 in a fight ? A defender Sub every time.

Bad loser nothing, I wasn't even entered in the competition. I stood in as Shaman's partner (and Neo's partner earlier in the evening) after being requested to do so with a hastily-copied-over PvE toon. I then had to fight a 45-minute 5 man domination match (after not being allowed to fight 10 man dom as the other matches had been, because it would have taken too long) where I spent 40 dull minutes in a cage - the 5 minutes I was out of the cage I picked up 3 kills (and both opponents), and I wasn't killed once. Essentially, it took 2 players 45 minutes to pick up 5 kills against 1 player - that's not skillful, it's pitiful (IMO) and I'm glad I9 heralds the end of it.

At the same time I’m happy cage is being nerfed, if it wasn’t though I would use it. If I had a big button on my mouse that said KILL PvP Opponent on it and it worked, I’d use that. Rofl

As for you Psydock you know as well as I do that playing against Bitter and you with that team from Squished and no cage or even a nerfed cage is an instant loose. Maybe we’ll get to fight in the next squished with a different team I think up, you never know maybe I’ll find another power to annoy everyone with and then get it nerfed
  7. WOO! That means I can join!!!!!

Going to Japan on Monday for 2 weeks lol

SU will have a team, pretty sure what it is and will get it up on here soon.

We will use our secret weapon for this one

A dual build system would have persuaded me to at least give PvP more of a try, but it isn't going to get many people to do it. It's really making life easier for PvPers and doing nothing much for PvEers.

I can't see any reason to have more than two builds, it would just be exploitable. The dual build system only works really if the switch between builds happens on entering or leaving a PvP environment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I completely agree that if implemented it would be a must that the 2nd build could only be used in PvP Zones and Arena (anywhere that PvP was possible) or as you said it would be extremely exploitable.

I disagree that it would not increase the number of chaps that would take part in PvP. Players enjoy PvE more than PvP therefore they keep their build made for PvE, and so their not cut out for the fast paced action that goes on in the Arena and PvP Zones. If they could keep their favoured PvE builds and still enter a PvP area of the game with a 2nd build capable of PvP they would almost certainly be happy to give it a whirl every now and them.

Another reason is; if there was actually a part in the game where you had a second build and it was devoted to PvP only, by being functional only in PvP sections of the game, it would most defiantly give players a whole new view over whether its worth trying. Still being optional as it is now, but at the same time tactically, on the Devs part, giving everyone as little bit more of a push. As something that they are expected to have a go at, instead of just a hand full of veteran players making the decision to drop they’re PvE builds and being happy to have alts only really able to take part in the PvP activities in the game. If no one had to make that decision and everyone was able to do both I believe everyone would be more then happy to do it. I find that many people are quite ignorant of PvP and how much fun it can actually be.

You could come back at that comment saying you still wouldn’t take part if you had a 2nd build, but then I could just say maybe that’s cos your build, at the moment, just isn’t cut out of PvP…

  10. I also wanted to add to this post what I think would attract existing players to PvP.

    [ QUOTE ]
The things you list would make things better for PvPers. They would not cause non-PvPers to start PvPing

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the Duel Build or even more than just Duel would be brilliant, that way everyone that was adamant on PvEing as best as their build allows could still join in with PvP with a 2nd build devoted to PvP.

Also I believe that if the use of PvP in the test server could be removed so all these absolutely superb PvPing events, organised by the players could be made on live servers in someway, it would improve PvP for everyone. It would attract people to PvP with seeing how big these events actually get. In order to do this though, the Duel Builds would have to be added, live cross server challenging maybe in Arena only and more respecs for your PvP specific build. (VERY unlikely)
  11. Well isn’t this an interesting post!

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
Again, another PvPer who is incapable of listening to what non-PvPers are saying.

The things you list would make things better for PvPers. They would not cause non-PvPers to start PvPing, and quite frankly, those people, who are clearly a majority, think the devs have wasted enough effort on an aspect of the game which doesn't interest them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you feel that the Devs have wasted effort on PvP? Do you feel it is a waste that PvP exists? Do you feel that the majority defines that everything but PvE is a waste?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The all important, golden forum abbreviation first:

    *IMO*

I don’t feel the Dev’s have wasted time on any aspects of the game, I can say there are parts that for me, that are a waste but justified by seeing the enjoyment they bring to other players; The Veteran System for example.

PvE is CoH, it always was it always will be, every PvPer, BadgeHunter or what ever other titled group of players there are in the game must PvE before they can do anything else. Therefore I would say that PvE is more vital to the game. As Bitter already said:

    [ QUOTE ]
I would say PvE needs looking at a lot more than PvP in CoX. Unless they add ALOT more end game content soon or raise the level cap this game is doomed. There’s no point in adding low level stuff as you out level it in a day or two.
PvP in this game suffers from lack of players. IMO the reason we have lack of players is cause the PvE is to repetitive. End game = roll an alt.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In this thread, you’re dividing PvEers and PvPers it to two categories when everyone is a member of the first. Everyone is a PvEer + anything else they like to do. I my self am a PvEer like everyone else, I’m also a PvPer, BadgeHunter, Hami Raider, SGer and Base Builder, and even a PLer

So really all the minorities make the majority that your talking about, and if you take one minority out of the game, for example RPing, or BadgeHunting or even say PvPing then you’re upsetting a slice of the majority. All these smaller sections revolve around PvE but with out them the PvEing to me, would seem less worth while and I’d have no other aims with a character except dinging 50.

The PvP and everything else, makes up for the lack of end game content and with out it I wouldn’t be playing CoH.

So no PvP is not a waste and nor is any other aspect of CoX.

Omnipotent coming to a Arena near you soon...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This could be anyting, what would you do if it was a little fluffy pink elephant? lol
  13. It's annoying but as you said Max, good in some respects as it removed all the dead SGs and players from the channel. I'm sure it wont take long to rebuild.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I would like the 12v12 as a one off over Easter and the 8v8s as a weekly event tbh. whats every1 else think? As far as Union v defiant goes, Unions best PvPers are spilt between teams *IMO* I would like to have a 8v8 sometime with you guys, Unions best Vs your best.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A big one off 12v12 sounds great Bitter.

I would also love to see more regular PvP events, but I think making it as frequent as weekly will take the shine of it all, also I doubt the organiser wants to loose every one of his Wednesday nights. Maybe we could organised an event a bit further apart like every fortnight, giving everyone a chance to find out about it and arrange teams, builds and tactics.

Every event could have the rules and team sizes changed keeping it new and fresh. Doing this would also force everyone to change their teams, builds and try new things out depending on the team size and rules.

    Just a thought...
  15. Well *IMO* I was very happy with The SUs performance considering we made the team at very short notice, with limited players and alts (Wanting to make an SG only team); and with an average level of about 44, only one Emp and no Blasters. Not to mention, they had never teamed/PvPed together until the first fight on the night.

Not that I'm making excuses, just thought it was worth mentioning.

It looked like great fun, and hopefully I’ll be taking part in the next one.

[EDIT] - And next time maybe the King will join us, hey Jum
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    I'm making bubbles fotm

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I've already done that

    EDIT

Thought I better add something a little more constructive, I've levelled my bubbler to 40 then remade him, he's now level 27! When I join I teams I find that we can start fighting mobs 2 levels high than what they where before I got there. With a Combo of the Leadership Pool and the Bubbles themselves, it all works out rather lovely.

On another note I now have an Empath as well and play both the Bubbler and the Empath in PvP and PvE. I find them equally as useful and for different reasons, I wouldn't say that either is overall better than the other.

PFF, Mez Res, a 50ft Repel and a move that takes an enemy out the game for 30secs which you can keep on constant - all plus sides to the Bubbler that an Empath doesn't have. Obviously an Empath has its pluses as well.

    Power Boost would:

Increase the resistance on both Temp Inv. and FoN

    [/ QUOTE ]
    It does no such thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Correct! My bad.

That aside, still some very valid points.

  18. *Eat plenty of Bananas.
*Drink water - It is a myth Red Bull helps you PvP better.
*Wash your hands before entering any PvP Zone.
*Focus and make wax on, wax off motions with your mouse in your spare time.
*Find a Steven Seagal background image for your PCs Desktop.

Master these five points and no one will match up to your sillz in PvP.
  19. Power Boost would:

Increase the stuns on the NRG attacks
Increase the ToHit on Build Up
    Increase your movement speed
Increase the Defence on PFF (as I assume you aren’t taking Repulsion Field)
Increase the resistance on both Temp Inv. and FoN

Although I take it your making or have made this alt for PvP and “imo” I don't think none of the above will make a great deal of difference. In PvP kills are what count, so I myself would take Inferno.

Stuns will still hit just not last as long, acc is still superb (and with fortitude who needs PB anyway), speed you wont notice and defence has probably hit the cap for a blaster anyway (Although I’ve no idea what the cap is), your HP is low as a blaster so a little extra Resistance wont help all that much. Inferno might get you 3 kills in one click of a button.

    [Edit]
Something I forgot to mention, which is actually quite nice from Power Boosts point of view, is it will increase your Mez Resist on the likes of Acrobatics and CJ if your getting them.

    Freshly Squished

Thanks KS and everyone who turned up!

Some fantastic fights, was on the edge of my seat for most. Good Fighting to all our opponents, I think the toughest was against Psydock and Bitter Ice as we lost one on to them, played. The most annoying was Sweet Chilli and Satanic Flash as you would expect That was 1 hour long!!! (gg lads)

As for caging, yes their annoying but to keep them going constantly and to a high standard for I think 9 fights, all lasting 30 minutes to one hour long. Well done to Burning Embrace (Aftermath) for that.

Looking forward to the next one ppl!

What I meant was that you could craft an Insp or Enh store that'll hold 200, then 300, instead of just 100.

Much in the same way you can craft better Empowerment Stations.

Not that there's bins that will only store a certain type/tier of Enh/Insp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

oh, my bad lol, well both would be nice
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Also where an individual can only carry a max of 20 per salvage item, amount of components carried are not restricted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a limit on components on a character mate, its 99.

If you do decide to use alts as storage, make sure its not one your levelling, if you already have 20 of something you wont be able to pick any new salvage up of that type. Like when you finish a TF with a full enhancement tray...

    [ QUOTE ]
Something like a Tier 2 Inspiration bin, needing some Salvage and costing another 100k would be useful. Same goes for an Enh Rack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would be cool if they made restriction options for the existing storage Items, like what level/tier and kind of Enhancements and Inspirations can be added to the bins by players; salvage, uncommon and rare only for an example or what origen of salvage. This would cover what Extremus was asking for in what I've quoted.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also in i9 we are going to be able to sell salvage or exchange it for invention salvage. This may help you’re storage issue.
  25. The List

Just thought I'd direct your attention to this post as it’s got everything to do with bases, but I just didn't think many of you would bother looking in the "Technical Issues and Bugs" section. I might be wrong I don't know.

Anyways, decided to make a list of all the bugs I'd found to do with bases, add you views, show you care and that we want them fixed. You never know, we might hit lucky and have bug free Bases by i9!

Add any bugs that you know about and I didn't list too

PS. I did send them all in with a /bug in game but I think players influence change and the fixing of bugs through the forums as well.
