What's the hurry?
I've seen a thread by you before about something similar. Farming is the fastest, Flipping at WW is the easiest if you have a large float. Remember .. speculate to accumulate.
RV pillboxes is for prestige really.
What do you call "fast" ?

Nope since there are still sets SS isnt good against...
There are still sets nightwidows or forts arent good against like rad or /rad, forts can detoggle the /rad debuffs, nightwidows cant.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL !
Wrong. My ill/rad didn't lose an arena match till I13 ( no tourneys, but some matches against some good players ).
I13 comes along and 8-0 loss to the fortunata. Got my butt handed to me by a NW in RV soon into I13 too.
Rad sucks now.
Fahie
ps .. thanks rooks -
Well done all!
Gj... and a very quick time!
I'm sensing another record we're going to have to try and beat
Fahie -
Lol .. gamete beating me to it now.
We really need an X4 champion to contribute to this thread so that Moghedien actually believes us

Every At is strong against certain sets and weak against others....

You just described I12 pvp not I13
Fahie -
Ok, lets put this in perspective.
Myself, and a good SG friend used to PVP a lot. Pre I13 I could wipe the floor with them with my ill/rad most of the time, do well with my spines/sr ( my two *specced* pvp toons ) and either win or lose with the blasters and other ancillaries.
Since I13, *nothing* can touch the fort. Best I got was 3-5 with the scrapper.
I'm not a pvp newbie ( nor the best in the world ) .. but I know enough that when I am getting my [censored] handed to me on a consistent basis regardless of my AT then it's overpowered. Certainly baring in mind that we are of roughly equal skill.
And yes .. doh .. I do have aim and build up.
Read the threads, acknowledge the godness of forts in I13, relax and take a deep breath

rent beat me to it
Seriously, play a good fort ( not me) and see what the difference is. Their godmode is that they are Forts.
Fahie -
Well .. for starters, purpling out a toon for PVP now is pointless due to DR.
Secondly, a team of 4+ forts, regardless of buff stackage will wipe the floor with any other same-seized team of equally skilled "non-forts".
Blasters aren't even close any more, and if you've beaten a lot of forts with a blaster, they weren't played very well.
My fire/* and elec/nrg ( yes, that's elec/nrg, it *did* rock ) can't hold a candle to a well played fort 1v1 now.
Only thing close to a fort blue side is ice/ss .. or, as I understand it, possibly sonic/em now due to -RES ( haven't played one )

Its beyond me how the devs can give the highest damg class with randged attacks meele class resists, thats stupid.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's simple. They've given them worse than melee class damage now

Isn't that kinda how the veteran base items work anyway? :S
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but that's not paid for ( except in time )
Eg. The NcSoft won't make any money out of it because hardly anyone will buy it. People will always know someone who has the pack, and get them to change their base, circumventing having to buy the pack.
If the above was provided free of charge as a SG badge or something, then very /signed.
Fahie -
Was liking this idea, until I worked out the loophole.
Lets say you pay 9.99 for a full theme pack.
you then hire yourself out to fledgling SG's for influence and design their base for them.
What happens when you leave the SG? Do the textures vanish?
/unsigned purely on that I'm afraid. Nice idea though.
Fahie -
Or do a respec trial, which is quicker than a lot of TF's anyways.
Fahie -
Sighs,
I think you're missing my point.
This is a security feature to help prevent "own fault" problems like little brother timmy.
Removing it removes said additional layer of account security. If you disregard "fault" for a moment here and simply ask "does this feature make your account more secure at little or no extra inconvenience?".
The answer being yes means it should stay in.
I can see it's going to degenerate into "is this the right room for an argument?" soon, so I'll try and make this my last word on the subject
Fahie -
[ QUOTE ]
I call letting your brother screw up your account your own fault.
Where did I say that someone hacking in is your own fault?
[/ QUOTE ]
who said anything about hacking?
The original point was that this was a security feature.
You stated that it shouldn't be there, because if that happens it's your own fault.
My point is that if you are going to request removal of security features based on "it's your own fault", then I'm glad you don't work for an online bank.
Do you 100% of the time lock your pc when you go grab a coffee?
Most people don't.
This feature just means that if someone gets in front of your pc, they CANNOT delete you characters.
Unless of course you leave the screen on the character select

[ QUOTE ]
Not sure it's down to "hacking in" more due to, you log back to character select and decide it's a good time to make a coffee, whilst you are downstairs little brother timmy pops along and deletes all your alts.
So /unsigned from me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is entirely your own fault if you let that happen. I'm sorry but if Devs have implemented this system for cases like this it should be removed immediately.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hang on ...
The devs should remove a security feature, because anyone who falls foul of, its "their own fault" ?
I'm glad you don't work for an online bank!

inspirations in a duel suck hard
[/ QUOTE ]
It always amused me I12 PVP when people complained about their opponent using inspirations. They were usually the ones who complained that I wouldn't stand toe-to-toe with their brute when I was playing a blaster.
i.e. "I want you to play by my rules, so that I can win"
Inspirations are an INTEGRAL part of the game. Saying that they shouldn't be used in PVP implies that the player isn't confident in their build, confident in their playing ability, or both.

[ QUOTE ]
This suggests that there's an optimal team size somewhere between 2 and 8.
I wonder if anyone's tried any experiments about this.
[/ QUOTE ]
For out fast level 50 run, we went for a team of six.

an kin/ele/dark defender is also a bad thing too handle
without recovery and endurance all opponents will be down soon
[/ QUOTE ]
Except that the endurance drain aspect is nerfed so much in PVP that it is virtually pointless.

As others have said, you just have to decide which method you enjoy most. If the answer is "none of them" then just forget the purples. They're not that important.
[/ QUOTE ]
This really.
Although I have plenty time and apportunity to farm I hardly ever do it because it's just not fun in any shape or form. I also don't bother with purple sets because to me they just aren't worth the price you pay for them. For the 300+ million you pay for a purple damage set you can practicly kit out your whole character with "cheap" sets and have no noticable difference in performance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Whilst I agree in general that purples can make *little* difference for a lot of cases, I must take umbrage at "no noticable difference in performance".
Purples can make an important power perma. Purples can also give huge benefits with procs ( contagious confusion on confuse for example )
Moreover, they allow you to not worry about slotting up to 99% accuracy on some powers, as your global bonus is already big enough to counter that. This saves slots on some builds where slots are at a premium.
I noticed a huge difference on my ill/rad once 4 sets were in there.
But anyways, not the topic ... so yes, don't worry about purples until you actually need them is my best advice. Don't just think of them as "phat lewt"

[ QUOTE ]
What makes Fire / Kin so good? is it simply imps and fulcrum shift? That sounds boring and OP if it is. I at least want to have some fun with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol
Imps + FS is the mainstay of the build, whilst hasten, transferrence, cinders and FF are required too.
There are plenty of guides around that explain *why* fire/kin is so good.
Might sound overpowered, but nerfing either set means that other combinations with it are nerfed too.
As for fun, farming isn't generally considered fun.
If you are hoping to get a farm build that you really enjoy playing on the same map over, and over, and over again then I would recommend re-evaluating
Fahie -
yes, but you get two weeks grace after it tells you you need to pay. It then resets to 4 weeks once you pay it
So you can cycle it on a 6 week charge basis if you are sneaky
Fahie -
Biased here, but Ill/Rad is the best IMHO
You can solo anything ( including GM's ) with a decent build, and the defining power kicks in nice and early at 16 with Phantom Army.
Can be slow-going sometimes, but worth it in the higher levels.
Fahie -
fire/kin without question post 38
followed by spines/dark scrapper.
