Boston Software - BroadSword / Super Reflexes / Body
cheers! -
only pvp's a little bit on my fire tank in sirens and vs 2 dominators and 2 masterminds CJ was being overpowered, burn was very very useful here.
also what is amusing is mastermnd pets will just stand in the burn patch without running away -
super speed i find fun on my superstrength tanker, zap in and footstomp before they know whats hit them.
vertical movment is covered by hurdle and any flying mobs are brought to earth with hurl, he ran from 40ish to 50 with just this config and it worked ok - surprisingly in pvp it worked ok too, by the time hurl animation had finished suppression was off and i could basically throw a rock and catch the baddy as they land with a KO Blow.
Sirens destruction area was traumatic for chasing though -
Here Gonkehs latest build, i think i have assault, stun and whirling hands in the wrong places with each other, if i respecced again this would be the way i put it to though
Notes:
This is a hovering/flying tank, she rarely touches the floor.
fireball is the 2nd group taunt
She doesnt cap anything as far as i can tellbut i didnt find that she needed it.
She does not herd
the swift slotting is for fly mods
some of the attack enhances are wrong i think, it dont look quite rightbut its a guesstimate anyway

i found on a human/dwarf ws and then on tri form that stamina was useful, i also found that there are enough powers you can drop to make it fit - its slots i found difficult to get to fit.
but as mentioned, Stygian circle should be taken before stamina - its got a bigger return however needs a dead guy, which sometimes with a human shade is a bit problematic as they are fairly low damage contrasted to a nova formed WS.
note: i am primarily a human warshade even with the 3 form version -
i'd recommend 2 phase build.
pre 35 build for fast, short, low damage hits, conserving as much endurance as possible.
post 35 go for heavy hitting, aoe heavy build
as a contrasted view to maelwys, i tried a respec with aid self and tough and found i just didnt need it, it broke the flow of the character, it made her clunky feeling to play, in the end i skipped those and went for a flight only build, the lack of tough and aid meant i could take more secondary and support powers.
having had a build with total focus, then with energy transfer and finally without total focus i found that TF was just too slow, you would actually lose gauntlet control in teh time to pull the move off, so i dropped it - plus its a massive endurance hog.
if you want i can post a guestimate at the current build of my inv/ene tank, its the best build i've managed to get for her so far after 3 respecs at 50. -
i think you're in the endurance sapping ploom from PD
having that tp certainly would be useful, 3 missions and maybe a run thru the start of striga to open the wedding band and warwolve temp power would be worth considering, that shoudl see us to 22 anyway. -
i can see it as the stereo typical thing stone tanks do. however mostly its also associated with a 'im best center o fthe team' attitude that turns people off stone tanks and other tanks to a lesser degreee.
yes its good to inform people whats happening but almost all of the stone tanks i've ever seen come bundled with a im that invincible everyone listen to me and do what i say or im gonna have a go or whinge because i cant play how i want to play.
most evident when the team actually doesnt need a stones gathering of mobs to do the job.
my experiences of teaming with bad attitude stone tanks has turned me off making one (and thus ruining my goal of having one of each type) and also turned me off teaming with them either.
it really doesnt help that i've seen an increasing amount of stone tanks playing just awful - the reason they made stoners? well its because the died all the time on their blaster aint it, so they made stone because they are invincible... -
looks good
im personally not that much of a fan of nuke type powers, i'd have swapped the quasar for unchain, it doesnt drain your end, drop your toggles and is pretty close to the same power level if i recall correct. however it does require full slotting so its pretty costly.
one of the things i used unchain for was to add an additional layer of disorient, so you have grvitic emination to slap the minions and LT's move in with inky aspect to continue the sutun and stack on bosses, mire then melee hold a minion, blast death then unchain him and fluff extract, the unchain will hit the things you missed with all the others plus stacking on any boss so you can have everything stunned and then topped up with inky.
with haste and full slotting you can use it every other group or every third group (if i rememebr right that is).
it was certainly great fun
i am curious as to why aid other is in there though -
i really enjoyed that eves play, i know it broke the mould of the team but it did work a hell of a lot better with some different skills in play.
we didnt take it any further last nite as we were down to 4 on a 6/7 man mission so we bottled it
looking forward to next week! -
one of the reasons i went human / dwarf was because of the form changing and toggle applications which delayed changing all the time... i went with the idea that shifting form with 1 form would help me get used to the form changing, like a training effort in getting used to form shifting. i'd seen too many bad khelds to dare be one myself
it worked, now that the character is tri form they shift much better and most of the time dont bother to retoggle all human toggles, just one or two. -
i went 1-50 as human dwarf then respecced to triform at 50... the triform is way more damaging however i do find the human form most rewarding and certainly very fun.
1-20 was painful, but as its a human form it always is till stamina...
however the surprise power for me to make the human form a front running attack character was gravitic emanation, with that you can daze almost whole groups at once, its ace... i took it at 30 after unchained essence and inky aspect (it works in conjunction with inky), but it could be brought forward, you may find yourself getting into trouble with bosses though.
right up till the 40s the dwarf was pretty much unslotted and was used as an emergency button, once the human side was slotted up 'enough' the dwarf got slotted up from 40-50. -
a TA defender (/me waves to annah) in our SG has bugged this loads, tests have shown that its even down to what area of an city map your in.. it works fine in one area of bricks, go over the 'border' to the next area of bricks and it doesnt light.
maybe a map blackzone list needs to be made, wetzones i suppose -
will check when i get home and see if ours is working. wasnt last time i checked though.

Double xp weekends dont come round often and we've done the tfs all before, with xp petering out in the 30s so you wont be able to take a new to all im seeing less and less point it.
it becomes an exercise in speed of tf rather than a real decent goal for characters in range, certainly i have way many more characters i'd like to spend double xp on than being shoehorned into bringing exemp in so that we have a chance of succeeding fast.
thinking of the actual logistics of it, even looking at psy's sub 24 plan for it i've come to the realisation that i actually dont want to do this... the shards was different because they so rarely get done, but these ones have been done so many times on good and bad teams i really dont feel the urge to play them again.
So, Im sorry to have signed up and pulled out, but i just can not see myself dedicating time to this and still wanting to even play the game at the end of it.
And after discussing with Psy I know she feels the same way. -
also, make sure that the same person isnt lead for all the tfs, each tf should have a different lead, so that people get a break, and also it may be beneficial to avoid having a lead with no travel power or just flight...
17 would be better start due to better enhances, if you're not getting xp in the first tf may as well make sure you're using the best enhances to go with it. -
cool, htat sounds like theres enough time to go to the pub, perfect cure for a cold...
i think Tim is almost 20 now, maybe a couple bubs off but pretty close fo'sure -
i dunno, the first few we'll hit the cap pretty fast as you can already go from 10-15 on positron so i'd think you'd hit the cap halfway thru... maybe if the caps reached for those getting xp then we ghost?
