Anyone wish to update the Corrupter's Guides?

[ QUOTE ]
My hope is that it displays IO information such as set bonuses.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would more or less have to, otherwise its value as a tool would be pretty lowThe only question is how they categorize the various bonuses (i.e. tack damage set bonuses on top of the damage enhancement bonus of individual powers, list them as a global damage bonus, etc). I think the way its done in Mid's right now would be a pretty good model to start with.

Yeah...I think I skipped the last two DXP weekends, myself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Come to think, I may partake of this one if only to help my Dom get up into the 30s -
Never really cared one way or the other about double XP weekends. However, smoothing the xp curve will be nice to help out that late 30s stretch. Also, numbers!
I guess City of Data will finally be able to update

Blaster Guides needs a shepherd. Anyone interested in updating the guides this year?

As it should have. Giving Blasters Unstoppable is unforgivable.
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet some folks want to compound one error by duplicating it villanside ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. It's called a level playing-field.
Make PPP's available to Heroes through some series of quests.
Make EPP's available to Villains.
Call it a day.
[/ QUOTE ]
I love Force of Nature as much as the next guy, but seriously...it's NOT Unstoppable. That's like confusing Michael and Tito. 50% effectiveness, 2/3 Duration, and NO mez protection. I'm sure someone's going to say "well, that doesn't matter, it's still unstoppable-ish", but to me giving a blaster 35% resist for 120 seconds is one thing, but 70% resist for 180 is simply unforgivable. Maybe I'm just anal, but I don't like FoN being used interchangably with Unstoppable.
[/ QUOTE ]
In that case, what is the difference (if any) between Blaster EPP Hibernate and Ice Tank Hibernate? Honest question, I actually don't know the answer to that one. -

CoV needs about 8 new zones covering all levels from probably 10 onwards. The new zones should have no links to the Destined One storyline and be more focussed on some of the other mysteries around the Rogue Isles or some alternate storylines.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can get behind this. Not that many Zones, but the get away from the Destined One, and more to the point, an Arachnos mindset. I like Arachnos, but it would be refreshing to work for other organizations, or day I say it, be villainous in your own right.
[/ QUOTE ]
While its a good idea and I'd enjoy playing that way, I honestly think its too late in the development cycle of the current game to diverge that completely from the existing story. I would very much like to see this direction be pursued in CoX 2, however.
You never know though, maybe the devs will prove me wrong and the i11.5 QoL improvement will be a non-Arachnos story progression for redside -
Anything on the official site will be content protected.

I hope you have the time to proofread the HTML code you'll be receiving, Ex, or I predict a Rickroll epidemic.
"Click here to show chart? OK >click< Hey that's a nice chart..."
"Ain't never gonna give you up."
"DAMNIT!"

*shrug*
It'll just get treated like any other Rick Roll, I'd suspect... good bye guide!
There are probably worse things to be on the look out for in html guides.

I suppose we will take action on any offenders. This ultimately is part of a larger picture, one that involves the official web site.

Question:
Ex I know some of us have used links to externally hosted graphs etc for illustration purposes. Could a revamped html guide include inline images ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Within reason, one thing about the board is keeping the load down so image size needs to be considered. -
So it is no secret that those of us here behind the curtain have access to a few tools that our general player base does not.
One of them being the use of HTML as a format for the forums.
If any of you would like your guide posted in HTML format please forward me the tag information and link to your OP of your guide and I would be happy to post up the HTML version.
You can do this via PM or through my email at exlibris@ncsoft.com
Our guide section is one of the most popular areas of our official forums so anything we can do to keep them up and running smoothly we are glad to help.
Any questions just let me know.

Again just because you don't like the content doesn't invalidate it as new content. The Rikti and the Vanguard fit into the metastory of City of Villains. That your character is resisting that metastory and trying to play counter to it doesn't invalidate it as valid new content. You can scream that you hate and loath the new content all you want but it is still new content.
[/ QUOTE ]
In fairness, i10 actually introduced a conflicting metastory to the existing metastory:
i7: Arachnos is conducting negotiations with the Rikti Restructurist faction (Ambassador Kuhr'Rekt), as neither wish to see the Traditionalists come to peace with the rest of humanity.
i10: Restructurist Rikti are attacking Grandville! But Kuhr'Rekt is still there handing out missions to up-and-coming villains even as the bombs are falling.
So, meh.I haven't had the chance to read through all of the related text for the i11 Ouroborous TFs, so I can't really speak to how well they mesh with existing story.
That said, I as a primary villain player do not share Death_mage's level of angst to any significant degree (I admit to the occasional annoyance at perceived slights), but it seems you are also getting perhaps a bit too emotionally invested in this argument. You're right: like any CRPG, City of Heroes / Villains has a backstory that is more or less etched in stone, and players who refuse to conform to that backstory are going to get agitated at times if they care at all about storylines. If people are utterly refusing to accept that fact, it is best to shake your head and move on rather than inflate your blood pressure by trying to convince them of what you feel to be the error of their ways.

I'm not sure you read those two posts.

I read one that extolled the virtues of non-instanced content and a reply that complained about waiting in line for l337 gear drops, and then noted that isn't how this game works.
Is that what happened, or did I miss something.
[/ QUOTE ]
He was complaining about waiting in line for l337 gear drops *in games whose no-instanced-missions content was being extolled*. In other words, the "complaint" was just a jab at the competition -
Sounds like a fun idea, but we've been around the legal court before and don't wish to return the EULA is in place to protect us and you as users.
Sorry but no likeness or homage characters are allowed that are the intellectual property of someone else by name or physical likeness.
Our character creator tool is amazing, so there should be no shortage of heroic or villainous concepts that we can create without copying someone else's protected content.
If you have any questions let me know.

My Fire/Ice Blaster and Blaster Epic Powers guide is in my sig. It was on the old thread, but I figured I should repost it on the new one since it never got added to the Blaster Guides list yet. I think that's someone else's job, but I don't know how this works =P

AT guides need to get posted at the end of the guides section for that AT, that way they have less chance of being missed.
If you have a question regarding how to get there let me know.

Reminder: With those of you updating old guides etc. please make sure you link here with guides that need to be removed. This section does not purge with our maintenance so keeping it clean is important and needs to be done by the community.
Ex -
This thread should be locked soon. Please post any new guides to the new Guide to Guides found by clicking here.

I'm working on going through the holiday party photos, I will see what I can drum up from our go at Rock Band.

It's that time of year again!
Our player guide section is one of the most helpful tools for both Heroes and Villains alike, but it takes a lot of collective effort to keep them maintained.
By the end of this month we would like to have all of our guide sections updated to include all the great guides from 2007 [I9] [I10] & [I11].
If you have written a guide please check the Guide to Guides to see if there is a current and working link to your guide, if not then please add your guide with link to the end of that thread.
If your guide is about a specific Archetype please click on thespecific AT and post your guide to the end of the AT your guide is written about so it can be included in the update.
If you have any questions regarding the Guide to Guide please PM Zombie_Man
We would like to thank: Milk_weasel, Hakker, Ice_Knight, Maud_Dib, Poison_Pill, Sir_Quioxic, Zombie_Man, and all of you that have taken the time to create a guide.
The guide section of our boards does not purge old data so if there is a guide in that section that needs to be removed please let Ex Libris know by PM and link to the thread.

Barring two minor annoyances (having to set up your chat windows again with every new character, and Rikti Invasion notices being sent to the System channel where they are extremely easy to miss) I think the chat system in this game is nearly flawless. Once they finally get rid of intermittent bugs that cause the loss of channels or reset the default channel on zoning, it will truly be peerless.

Yep, good post. And, as somebody who has in fact played a few of the more mainstream MMOs (EQ1 and 2, DAoC), you're absolutely right: the basic formula for MMOs is to create as much tedium as possible to keep people playing, while making sure that carrot is always in plain view to convince them to stay despite the tedium. This is why I came back to CoX after heading to EQ2 for a while. I rarely if ever feel like I'm being forced to do unfun things in order to pursue that darn carrot
