Someone should figure out how much money CoH has earned NCSoft in total. If it was $2.6 million per quarter for 6 years it would be $62.4 million! Wow!
-
Any chance of a slight VEAT costume revamp? (i.e. making the real Blood Widow, Fortunata, Crab Spider etc. colours default so they're easier to make, allowing the special VEAT costume pieces to be used in costume slots other than the first, etc.)
-
This sounds hilarious, I want this. This set needs tin foil parts too, so I can emulate my favourite super villain: Professor Chaos, bringer of destruction and doom!
-
Actually, I bet HE gave NCSoft a bit of money. Anything to prevent NCSoft from squishing him like a bug, and they probably settled on an amount far cheaper than court expenses.

The number one thing that should be in City of Heroes 2: Evilanna named Queen of Paragon City with Tyrant as her consort.

When you meet that dedicated role-player with a funny and unique character concept.
Finally getting that hard to earn badge.
Looking at my character info sheet and seeing lots and lots of beautiful, shiny badges.
When someone makes a comment on your character bio.
One shotting an enemy.
Building a costume that is super cool/a super neat concept and having it come out so perfect that you never ever alter your first costume slot again.
Edit: I forgot one: City of Heroes 2. -
The game enters a quantum state of being "doomed" to fail every time the devs release a new update!
Just read the forums for 5 minutes, it's true! -
Quote:I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying that making new loading screens is a waste of time? Because if so the devs obviously disagree with you since they are indeed making new loading screens.Again, you're engaging in a debate/arguement/exchange of opinions etc with respect to an issue which should be an absolutely non-issue.
Some of you keep trying to keep an meaningful exchange goin where none exists. Seems to me some are just in it for the aggravation, not for the health of the game.
Do some in the customer base think the devs should look into pvp some more? No, we need new loading screens!
How about some cool new power sets? Ahem, no where are my new loading screens?
& you managed to miss my point when you put yourself in the middle of my scrap with technogeek. If loading screens take the absolute minimum effort to create and introduce then I would think they would have made new screenies for every issue released to date.
And yet the arguement will commence.
I still don't get how some still fail to grasp my point. If a monkey can make new loading screens, then why hasn't it happened more often in the past 5+ years?
Again, the devs don't care about 'em or they in fact do require the kind of resources that would otherwise go to the development of new arcs, power sets, game mechanics.
Anyway, this argueing for arguement's sake is getting old pretty fast.
So I'll end it.
I'm wrong.
You're right.
I lose.
You win.
Moving on.
Also, wouldn't the art department be working on loading screens? Why would they have anything to do with PvP or power sets? I think the Paragon art team is great, but I wouldn't let them anywhere near that stuff. In the same vein I wouldn't allow the powers guys or those working on PvP to touch the loading screens.
So, if the art lead thinks his department can swing making a few loading screens, then who's to say differently (unless War Witch has something urgent for them to do. And that most certainly wouldn't have anything to do with PvP or powers, it would probably have something to do with, you know, the art assets of the game.) -
Quote:David Nakayama said in that same thread that they were going to update loading screens... So that question was already answered.Search the forum a bit. You'll find a *player* did new loading screens in not all that long. Ever think it's potentially "too simple to have noticed" until people brought it up? It improves the overall image of the game to not have loading screens stretched and showing "on release" graphics, especially with Ultra Mode coming up. (Note, on "being stretched," they've changed the ENHANCEMENT screen so it isn't stretched in the I17 beta now.)

*sigh* Reading the forums causes horrible flare-ups in my altitis... -
Quote:I think I've found your problem! You need to play on a server other than virtue.Me too! If I could pay a one-time fee of, say, $10-$15 to expand the maximum to 72 slots on a server of my choice (*cough*Virtue*cough*), I'd be happy. Heck, I might even be willing to pay an extra monthly fee (a couple of bucks) for the privilege. This, on top of the existing cost to buy extra slots!
I've still got a couple of unused slots I paid for but can't really use 'cause I already have 36 allocated on Virtue.
Seriously, a "character slot" is really just a bunch of numbers in a database. It couldn't take more than a few kilobytes at most to represent a character's appearance, powersets, bio, contacts, badges, etc. And storage is dirt-cheap nowadays. There's no compelling reason why they HAVE to limit the maximum to 36, especially if players are willing to pay for more.
Why even allow us to buy extra slots, or grant them as rewards, if you're going to put an arbitrary, artificial limit on the whole thing? -
Quote:Most people tend to spread their characters over more than one server, and that being the case don't even need more than 36 character slots. My guess would be:
"hmm... do we need to look at allowing more than 36 slots per server?"
"I dunno. Datamine it and see how many people are full or almost full."
"Oh, hardly any. Never mind."
I think the vast majority of players have not even bought a single additional slot, let alone 2 dozen.
Also, I think a lot of people like myself hurt that metric. I have two accounts because there was no way to add slots (beyond 12) and I ran out a long time ago. Offhand, I think I have 33 characters on my home server.
And then there are those few people who insist on playing on one server and that is it, and they have used up 36 slots on said server. They'll complain the loudest, but I think the real solution is for them to try a new server where they'd have 24 new slots right off the bat. -
Quote:I liked the new hospital concept art Mr. Nakayama (do you live in the mountains by the way?) The Praetoria concept art is really slick and nice, and judging by the (few) screenshots I've seen Praetoria is just as slick as its concept art.Cool, man. Tried to drop some confirmation for you guys, and I hope you enjoyed seeing the new hospital design as well.
One question: Are all the hospitals in Praetorai named "Cole Memorial" like how all the Rogue Isles hospitals are named "Black Heart Memorial," or does each hospital have a unique name like the Paragon City hospitals?
I really, really hope it's the latter because all the RI hospitals having the same name is my number one pet peeve for CoV. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! -
Quote:I've bought every booster pack and every in-game item pack and I have to admit that this "translation" feels too close to the truth for comfort for me.What is the next booster pack and when is it going to be released?
War Witch: The next booster pack, as you have already asked about, is the Mutant Pack! We're working to get it to you before we release the Expansion. I can't give specifics, but you'll dig it!
Translation: I have money in my pocket that's burning a hole. When will you be able to help me spend it?
Battle Bee-Otch: We couldn't possibly wait until the Going Rogue Expansion was out to get into your wallet! Not enough of you stingy little... er... our loyal customers are pre-ordering... So we will be getting out another Booster Pack before then.
Why do we need lots and lots of booster packs? Why can't they be a once in a blue moon twice a year type thing?
I hate being nickel and dimed. -
Quote:That only works in the United States.Think of the sliding!
Did you check Big Lots first? Last year they had the CEs for $20. Might have to search a few stores. -
Quote:If I'm not mistaken, NCSoft holds all rights and privileges with anything written on this forum. In other words, part of the user agreement you agree to when you sign up for the forum is that NCSoft owns all content of your posts.David Gerrold gives an example why.
That way they could easily prevent the type of legal trouble Gerrold talks about in that article with unsolicited ideas and outlines. -

Quote:Thing is, 36 slots is A LOT of character slots for an MMORPG. In fact, I'd venture to guess that CoH has, hands down, more character slots than any video game on the market. Is there a technical reason why we can't have more than 36 slots?
I have 24 full slots at the moment. It's not exactly a pressing issue in my case, but I hope that it will be an option to go beyond 36 eventually!
(36 slots per server puts those two other MMOs made by that competitor company to shame, what with them only allowing 3 slots IN TOTAL.) -
By the way, here is the hospital concept art! http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...e_hospital.jpg
