Quote:yeah. At best, it would've made the most sense for both sites to announce it on the same day, or within a very short time of each other. It certainly shouldn't have taken as long as it did. I'm just going by what I've seen other companies have done under similar circumstances with joint-projects.
But unfortunately it did, but the main question should be is "now what?" No matter what they say now, or dont say, those the time between those messages took too long for many people. So what could they possibly say that, assuming people are ready to actually listen to them, could make things better about their decison?
You know, I read that Glitch posting about that shut down and how their official response over it was mostly applauded for the way they handled it and from the looks of it, they always been in touch and more intune with the customer base. I just wonder why is companies with good service and communication skills usually end up being the smallest ones, with a small customer base, although tight, yet the cold hearted corporations that have "robots" hired for PR seem to rake in millions and in some cases billions? Shouldnt people be flocking to those companies with good customer services? -
Quote:Yeah, there are so many spots per thing and some companies like Disney spend more on advertising in a month alone than what some companies make in ten years.I've... seen things like that happen before with advertising. At least with businesses big enough to afford "forced marketing."
Why do it cost millions for a commercial during super bowl while any other day on the same channel it may cost a thousands? Because major companies are willing to pay premium for it that smaller budgeted companies cant compete with. That is why usually a person can basically know or have an idea of what companies will have a new commercial during the super bowl. Forced marketing. And even advertising goes by the standby of supply and demand. -
Quote:Possible they might have made the message anyways but just as possible that they wouldnt have. At this point, who knows for sure? If they made more announcements, would it have been viewed as petty/insulting and then in hindsight better off remaining silent? If they delivered the shutdown message themselves would Paragon Studios take the flak anyways for not telling us first or would NCSoft be viewed as even more cold/petty/insulting for going around Paragon Studios and not letting Paragon studios make the announcement? Even if today or tommorrow if they made one final announcement about thier decision, would that make the situation better or worse? Who knows. Depending on the reason, it might be better to not elaborate on it and make it any worse. If anything is petty/insulting, it's not the messages for me (unless the "response to SaveCoH" is a lie. It's that NCsoft never officially announced the closure of CoH themselves. In fact, if you go to their website, the closest thing they have to one is their response to the rallies. While one can technically call that their announcement, the fact that it took a month of whining to even get that, is unsettling. Equally unsettling is, would they have ever announced it themselves had SaveCoH not intervened? Or were they just going to let Paragon Studios deliver the shutdown message and take all the flak, while NCsoft sat in the background hoping nobody would notice?
Like any road where a choice is made, there will always be what ifs, could have been should have beens would have been theories on if the other road was taken.
But so far what they have said seemed standard prcedure for major corporations. Most dont give a reason at all why they make a certain decision. Many seem to only address it because the media got ahold of the information. If the media never said anything about it, it is possible that they would have not said anything at all too, like the countless other products that are ended out the blue that sometimes not even realized is gone on a mass scale until years later when someone says "Say, whatever happened to that (insert product)." and someone replies "They stopped making those things years ago." -
well there goes another game down the tube. smh.

tell you the truth, only seen a couple of announcements from them that either told the reason or was vague depending on who is it is asked.
I personally did not feel there was anything in those messages from ncsoft that were spiful or the definition of spite: a malicious, usually petty, desire to harm, annoy, frustrate, or humiliate another person; bitter ill will ; malice. -

Indeed.

pvp- felt like like it was tacked on the a pve game. I dont think the i13 changes helped although seemed to be for good intentions just a bit on the heavy handed side.
AE-Very good idea very good concept on paer, but implemented, seemed unfinished and or lot of things that was not forseen cropped up. It eneded up exaberating the farming rate and problem. I do wish there wasa way to make it easier to find good written AE arcs out of the ones that were solely made for farming.
Exaulted- Another server that I do not think was needed at that point in time. Seems to just splinter the player base even more across the already numerous servers.
LFG- I think it should of stayed in the oven a bit longer. Another great idea on paper but not in practice.
Not enough solo based end of game content. The rate for earning Incarnate stuff solo compared to teaming was too wide.
Too much chance based things. Everything based on chance. Sometimes I couldnt tell if I was playing a hero game or gambling in a casino MMO. -
taste better too. In Europe they use real sugar there too. Sodas here in the US of corn syrup land taste like crap to me.
-
dang, WoW, the land of fantasy and majic and top notch gear being defeated by a creature that is summoned from a small red/white ball who's icon is a yellow electric rodent like thing.

No regrets here.
Been around since i6 all the way up to now. 15 month and more been well spent for the entertainment, no waste, as this chapter comes to a close, it was good to play and gave a good return on the time/money I spent there. -
Quote:More food for thought, for some people hellbent on blaming the little guy:
Hey it's not fair to the CEO and other executives if they reported that. How else were they suppose to pay for their island. I mean their next door neighbor has an island, and the guy across the street has two, why cant they have one? With inflation, maintaining a bunch of houses and cars and private school is expensive. I mean they cant be expected to pay for that stuff and not let people go. No one ever thinks about the CEO and the hard work they has to put in to earn the right to give himself 300% raise and cut other people's pay to cover the costs. The countless hours spent counting money, the hours deciding on which brand of personal jet to buy, the hard work whether to put a few million in this investment or that investment. It's hard work! No love for CEOs.

Quote:yeahI LOVED CoX's art style. Was it the highest quality of MMOs now? Nope. Would i consider it the best? Probably not. But did I love it? SURE DID!
My suggestion for what I would go with for a MMO wishlist is based on what I would like, and what I think would get mass appeal. -
Quote:yeah. I think it's about as dead of a horse as it can get. I think people are staying at their personal level of hope whether it's high in the sky like apple pie or in the abyss of some deep ocean trench level hope.Well, to be fair, hope is at least in the title of the thread. I don't see any point in bickering hope, religion, etc further. I think a lot of us have said everything we need/want to about it and are more than happy to move onto something else.
Such as the Alcubierre, which I just remembered I didn't follow-up on. This article is why I figured it was a NASA project. http://techland.time.com/2012/09/19/...ht-warp-drive/
Yep it's in the title so it was expected to come up. but then again it wasnt much about hope per se it was about whether or not people have given up or not and according to many replies it is not tied to hope automatically. Some still have hope but given up on certain things while some havent given up, some have completely but doesnt mean they given up hope or gained hope because they havent given up. Some just merely havent given up playign the game to the end but really have much "hope" for a revival. But hope was bound to come up and when one side come up, might as well expect the other side to follow. -
O.O
I dont think that is proper, but then again no one seemed to mind the Asian hate over there on Titan and brought over here, as they just dismissed it as only one person was offended, so I'm not sure what to think how this can be taken.
I guess this isnt anyworse than the stuff posted over there and discussed over here about Asians.
Now on to my personal view about the pic: Really? *smh*
And yea that Asian crap stuff posted by some SaveCOH and Titan people was wrong too.
But that just my view.
If that stuff was ok then might as well dismiss this one as nothing to worry about too. -
Quote:I wouldnt mind seeing this style in a superhero game myself. We have a american comic book style game (CO). An american styled game that tried to take it self too serious but still ended up fun when ya dont take it serious(COX), how about one that mixed both Asian style and western style? That would be cool. IMO of course. not trying to convince anyone else.Really, my idea of a mixing of western and asian styles was int he style of art itself. While no, not wanting it as cartoony as Teen Titans animated series, that would be an example of mixing asian and western styles.
But really, just need an artistic style that can appease both sides (and it can be done). For artwork for the game, Id stick with the same thing you see in superhero comics now. *shrug* The point is a superhero game.
Hell, there's superhero comics that go realistic looking. So it's not like that's not a possible style for a superhero mmo. I jsut wouldnt care for the art style (hated it when Gary Frank did that in Gen13...think that's the artist who did it). -
Quote:yeah. No matter what the subject it seems it still will come up in one way or another it seems, with religion and or politics.I wouldn't have mentioned it all if someone wasn't trying to (speaking of religious/political discussions...) rewrite history.
I could make a thread about my favorite way to enjoy ice cream and somehow the topic of hope and or lack of will follow.
I dont mind the pony pics. Takes a bit out of the monot. of the recent usual topics. -
Quote:I dont know. I've seen plenty of half dressed characters running around in COX, many with the usual cat ears and tails. This wasa rated teen game and seen many characters push that limit with some costumes where it seems some people's kids play. With all the big boobs here in this game and ERP and etc, B&S is no worse, nor better in that regards. I mean ever since Desdemona came out and been plastered over plenty if COX artwork with her buttcheeks hanging out. Not sure how that is family wholesome. Some of the combat looked interesting to me, too. I'd prefer a much more realistic martial arts game, but for something in the fantasy context, the over-the-top, arcade style stuff makes sense.
Seriously? That makes me wonder if we played the same game, frankly. Nothing in CoH even comes close to B&S's level of hypersexuality, as I see it. But this takes us back you your earlier comment about subjectivity. It's an "eye of the beholder" thing.
I should point out that I'm doing my best to assess Blade & Soul without letting my unhappiness with NCSoft color my perception. I'm probably failing in that to some degree. I think I'd still be somewhat aghast at how the female characters are in B&S if the whole CoH closure had never happened...but I'm fallible. -
this hope or lack of hope is becoming a topic that is more sticky than religion or politics.
go figure. -
