  1. To the EU people dont be too upset. I know for alot of promotions they simply cant be done outside of the USA due to crazy laws and such in other countries. I am not saying this is one of them but if it was you really couldnt blame the devs on that. You still blame marketing for not thinking of something that could work for most if not all the countries.

  3. Do you all think they will use the Bind on Pickup or Bind on Equipe on alot more stuff in the future?

I agree that walmart was a horrible choice to do that promotion because their workers tend to be more incompetent than any other workers for this kind of thing. For the most part with any store I never ever trust the sales people because chances are they know absolutely nothing about a product. Those that do are told to lie to customers to get them to buy stuff they dont need. Its very rare you see an honest sales person these days.

Even if they did think of a way, they would have to be either completely stupid or graduates of the EvilRyu School of Loyalty to announce that fact before the promotion is actually over.
Oh really??? Huh, they have done this before with other stuff. Remember when they did the architech edition? mac edition? when they said before hand the goodies for those could be purchased digitally at a later time. Samething could apply here.

If the choice is between bind on equip and not bind on equip, the choice seems obvious. But if the choice is between bind on equip and all of these bind of equip goodies we can make, or we just don't ever get them at all, that choice is a different one, and one I come down on the side of diversity of power options.

Same with ED. ED or no ED seems obvious. But that's not the choice, the choice is ED with inventions, or no ED with no inventions. That's a different choice (some would still pick no ED with no inventions, but at least they are making an honest choice).

The one thing I will say is that I think if bind on equip is *only* used for the highest possible strength gear, then I think its a partially wasted effect. If it is also used to make low and intermediate stuff that players can work towards that don't involve the absolute highest levels of end game, then I think its an effect that can be well worth it for the entire playerbase and not just a small segment of it. For example, if Positron's task force(s) granted the player a significant powerful enhancement that you could only earn once per character, as a bind on equip it can be more powerful and interesting than if its can be farmed, traded, and gifted. It can be a reward balanced around the average effort of acquiring it, rather than balanced around the best case farming scenario.

The bind technology behind these perk enhancements can be used for good or evil: the technology is neutral itself. I hope they are mainly used for good.
Soul-bound items is how I wished HOs would have worked. I dont think it should be applied to inventions because they always go back and change stuff after the fact, remember the qqing on Zephers?

    ^^^This.

Its kind of like how DP was rushed just so they could have it for 2xp weekend so they would get more initial pre-orders. Its like they care more about money now than they ever did, but not as much about the customer.

In fact, right now NCSoft might be talking to Amazon. They may, or may not come to a deal which may or may not involve perks that are or are not the same as the Gamestop one. Deal.
Even if this deal happened after the fact, they still should have though "Gee, we dont want to make our loyal fan base upset, we need to think of a way that they can get these after the promotion is over."

Personally, I have no problem with the bonus enhancements. If it acts to attract new players to the game, and the net benefit is something that mainly assists them with the lower levels of the game when we most want to make a good impression, count me in. Not even a tiny little bit am I jealous. Heck, if it would attract a significant number of new long-term subscribers I would probably donate my inventions to give to them.

Us old timers have got to think in terms of helping NCSoft attract newer customers, not stomping on every attempt to do so as an affront to our "loyalty." Loyalty is faithfully supporting the game because you believe in it. Supporting the game because you believe you will get perks before anyone else and the game will always treat you better than anyone else is not loyalty, its bribery.
I disagree with you on this. It makes more sense to try to keep your players hooked on the game than it does to try to bring in new players who probably wont stick around past the free month anyways. I dont see it as bribery at all. I see it as rewarding our faithfulness for sticking with the game since day 1, as many of us have. What we have here is a slap in the face to us loyal players because they didnt give us all the information before hand or a way to get this after the fact. If they come out and say these will be available for purchase after the promotion is done then I can deal with that but chances are they wont do this. Its going to be like a 10 year vet reward or something provided this game makes it to year 10.

THat along with the fact i was majorly burne with STO's crap... If this happens with NCsoft I think a lot of people will lose faith in the CoH brand and make it all the more likely, no matter how much money has been dropped on the game, that they'll just move on when something new comes around. Why would anyone want to support a company that is just going to jerk them around?
I guess to me why it bothers me so much is because these do give a small advantage over those who dont have them for the early part of the game. Pre-order goodies seem to be one of those things everyone is doing now. I remember with aion you got beta access and a dye color depending on who your pre-ordered from. For the most part you got all the same items with no real advantage but this is clearly an advantage. I am gonna hold out before I put anymore cash into this game from now on, no matter how good they claim something is going to be.

Yeah but if we had known back then many of us would have waited, thats my point. We were deceived because they knew something better was coming.

Ok fine then marketing, but I still think the devs could have had a little say so. There have been tons of threads over the years about people hating gamestop. You would think one of them would have read them and made some objection about it.
  15. Good going as usual devs, way to screw over your loyal fan base who pre-ordered back when dual pistols first came out. Yeah this was really a smart thing to do. I am kind of upset that they didnt just make them temp powers instead of enchancements either way you guys royally screwed by doing this with gamestop. Many of us have an extreme hatred for that Corporation. Should have gone with either Amazon, or Bestbuy, but never Gamestop.
  16. My guess is they are hinting that there is going to be alot of psi damage going on in praetoria so its either have psi resists/defense or die.

  18. Seers remind me of a star trek voyager episode where folks werent allowed to have violent thoughts.
  19. The damage increase to me is slightly noticeable but not enough for me to make a defender over a corrupter. With a corrupter you can adjust your attack chain to really take advantage of scourge at times. I do think the changes are huge step in the right direction. Personally what I would like to see done is for them to get rid of the grand canyon size gap that exists on soloing speeds of various ATs and powersets. For the most part I have always felt we should play the powerset or AT for the concept not because something is easier to solo, level, or is FoTM. Until the solo speeds are brought closer together thing are still going to not be so great. The creation of the VEATs proved that you could make a support AT that does damage and supports well and not be overpowered. That paved the way for doms to finally get the help they deserved without having to be tied down to that cruch of an inherrent. Samething should have applied to defenders. Maybe in 5 years they will get another look and get the damage they should have had in the begining.

You get to hide behind the shield whats not stalkerish about that? Just think of it the same way Solid Snake sneaks around in a little card board box and never gets caught. Samething would work for shields. They just would have had to replace the damage boosting aura thingie with something else or just make it not cause aggro.
  21. Honestly it should have happend with CoV launch. I dont get the crap about how it wouldnt work with domination and such we already got sets that have location based control powers and they work out just fine. Either way I think its going to be the only way I could get my best friend to come back to CoX. So maybe issue 19?

Laziness, however, is a valid excuse for why you don't want to be leader.
Its got nothing to do with laziness as I said, its just a big headache. Some players wont play on a team unless it has this AT, some players wont join unless your doing AE missions, some players wont join unless your doing Radios, some players wont join unless your doing TF/SF, some players wont join unless you only do their missions. Not to mention all the people who want a tell sent first even though they are already actively looking for a group. Again I dont have time for all that *** kissing just so you can join a team that you are already looking for. For the record I dont just blindly invite people unless you are looking for a group and dont have please send tell in your search comment, those folks automatically get skipped over.

It's hard to compare RMT there with RMT here. We don't have anything close to the issue they had, even at our worst. And the methods - well, some got cracked down on here (email, reporting, and how fast the bans come in) and some just don't exist here (Player "stores" with RMT sites as their "sign" in the middle of busy hallways, for instance.) RMT was (IMHO, again having been through the worst of it *here*) move visible and harder to avoid there - but then again, that game, you *need* in-game money to advance. Sure, here you need enhancements, but they drop. You're not held up in getting new levels or powers or finishing missions because you don't have the gold. There, you are. Raise a skill? Pay money. Get a new ability? Pay. Pay for items to finish quests (or pay, after paying to raise, say, your Alchemy skill, to create whatever it is.) And of course, pay for gear, then pay more for new gear, etc, etc, etc.

My point in bringing them up, however, were that Aion's servers were *visibly* busy (as in, everyone running around, lag from people gathered around teleport sites and stores, having to wait for groups to finish boss spawns, active PVP, etc) and people were STILL calling for server merges there. (There's the side issue with merges, in that game, that you can only have one "side" of characters on your account. If you had Elyos on Lumiel, you could not make any Asmodeans there without deleting all your Elyos - well, barring buying another account. Which adds another wrinkle of problems to merges - one that we don't have to worry about adding to the list here.)

Think I touch on part of that with the "Signal that the game is dying." Last NC server merge I can think of, right offhand, was Auto Assault (IIRC.) If I'm thinking of trying out or coming back to an MMO, and I hear "well, they just shut down/merged 1/3 - half - X number of their servers," my reaction is "Oh, they're in the process of shutting down, then."

Also, here, people get very attached to their character names. We have very individual characters. (Most other MMOs I've run across, you end up looking like Fighter #98425, Soldier #0985, Orc#6981209, Mage #98609283 or some such.) Merging would play havoc with those characters and drive *current* players away. Which would also not help the people who insist they can't find a team.
To be fair overall Aion had alot of other issues aside from the bots that caused many to quit. The botting issue is pretty much resolved. I cant think of the last time I seen a bot on live servers, surprisingly they have moved to the Test server, the one place where its just not needed due to the increase kinah gain. CoX has its botting issues but its worse because you hardly see them now since we dont get spammed for filling a team anymore. Essentially our devs gave them a license to print all the inf they want.

Aion has open world pvp. That simply doesnt work good if you dont have controls in place to stop ganking that actual work. The pvp issues they have are with the level mods being added in addition to the higher player having more skills, mana/health, better gear, and enchantments. If they took away the level mods players would at least stand a chance to fight back. What they are doing in the 1.9 and 2.0 updates is addressing the ganking but I feel it wont be enough to get folks to come back because they still havent taken away the level mods.

I feel all the crying about server mergers is unjustified, I always see people leveling alts and doing content, where as in CoX many of the servers are dead. If there is a problem in Aion currently its because the way they do grouping. It has a huge xp penalty and there is a big shortage of clerics and templars. I think the shortage is due to everyone else wanting to play other classes. If clerics and/or templars were so required for most of the group stuff in that game people would be able to get quests and such knocked out easier.

While that's admirably fair-minded, it means you were standing in line to play your game. *Shudder*
To be fair, starting out they had no where near the server capcity they needed for Aion at launch. Maybe had they done that more people would not have ragequit from the retardedly long queues we had back then. As it is now there isnt a line to do anything in Aion.
