Totally agree here. I just do not see the point in going with sonic when thermals helps the pets alot more. Mez protection does not matter much since only the minion pets get mezzed, the melee pets are way too squishie even with shields to survive in melee to use the debuff aura.

Quote:Will do. Ninja/Poison was my very first lvl 50 villain so I will definately be checking out any changes to this to see if its viable for teaming which is where this set falls apart on the huge spawns. I was hoping though for some changes to ninja survivability.I was silly and didn't check the thread until now - just a minute ago I addressed this thread with Synapse, stating I've PMed Black Scorpion a couple of times with no response.
This is great news and I hope... HOPE that they address the issues at least in part. Guess we just need to wait until beta invites hit.
IF YOU GET INTO THE BETA please, please take some time to review what they have done and make it a point to address issues within the official thread they usually make. Now is the time to get this garbage set taken care of once and for all!!! -
Still wont play it due to it being typed defense which is alot harder to build for the soft cap than positional. Besides its not like they are going to re-order the powerset to make the heal come sooner in the set.
-
Quote:You can do this now with any set with kinetic melee. I double stack build up for with AS all the time. Just build up concentrated strike from hide, placate build up AS. Its a bit harder to do when everything has its attention on you but it works. That's not terribly balanced, now is it? One Stalker Secondary is allowed to massively boost Assasination damage without any outside buffs? And what about the damage from Burn and Rise of the Phoenix? No Stalker Secondary with a Damage component has anything beyond Trivial Damage.

Quote:Does not matter when you look at the other sets that have plenty of powers that do not work with domination. To be honest though I think the lack of dark powers is some what disturbing to me. Its like they do not think we are evil enough to get or recieve the dark power.Think you mean Domination here, but wrong word aside you're right.
Illusion wouldn't work so good for Dominators because only 3 powers in the set would even be affected by the ATs inherent (and one of those powers is quite frequently skipped).
When 2/3rds of a set is completely unaffected by an ATs inherent ability, it probably isn't a good idea to give them that set. That would be like a scrapper getting a set in which only 3 powers can crit, or tanks getting a set in which only 3 powers get Gauntlet. Or brutes only building fury with 3 powers. -
Quote:But they do hate villains. It should not take them giving a set to heroes for them to finally fix and address huge gaping issues. The only time its been done for villains was with SR when they moved evasion to lvl 20 for brutes to keep them from getting eaten alive by aoes. That is the only instance in game where devs did not screw villains. What ticks me off is when they redid electric they did not re-order the powers for brutes and stalkers making them suffer all those extra levels without a heal. As if power reordering is going to be the same is nuking the cottage rule.I don't understand how two separate people managed to derive "devs hate villains" from my post.
I do actually remember the months after CoV came out when the playerbase was all "devs hate heroes/blueside is dead", which lasted until Issue 8 when heroes got Radio Missions and Safeguards. I'm sure EA's buff had something to do with it being proliferated, but that would have happened regardless of which way it had proliferated (villains->heroes or heroes->villains). -
Quote:And you probably didnt have the whole spawn shooting at you like you would on a brute. Its very different for a stalker. You will not have all that aggro coming your way on a stalker.I played a /regen Stalker for some time before they were buffed, and even then the only time I was ever short of a 'way out' power was in the midst of a colossal EB/AV brawl that just kept going. If I could brawl with that sort of enemy with the old Stalker health, I daresay a Brute can do so damned well, because the only thing that reliably killed me was taking huge instant damage before I could click things.
/Regen is a very active powerset, so you have to be really on the ball. You have, sans Katana primary, maybe 40% the rolling standard survivability of a modest Brute. But, this is because you have traded in your panic button for a whole damned panic keyboard. You can literally mash the numpad if things go wrong and have a good chance of living. -
You guys keep thinking that all you want, scrapper playstyle and brute playstyle are entirely different because your team will be looking at you to take the lead as a brute and due to the way fury mechanics are. So your saying you can readily before fully IOed out take on 8 man spawns and not break a sweat for an entire mission? I do not believe this for one minute on this powerset. For those who are only looking at the IOed out regen, think about this you have to crawl before you can run. The ride to 50 is not going to be as smooth as you make it out to be. I can easily see where you can die within the first 30 seconds after using all said cool downs. Hell I see this all the time on the ITF where regens get squished all the time and this isnt even during the AV fight. You can have all the reflexes and perfect timing in the world but if too many things hit you at the same time your squished end of story. All I am saying is this DO NOT base regens performance on tricked out IO builds and think its going to be fine when you know 1-49 or up until you IO it out is not going to be fine. Otherwise we end up with powersets that we beg to get fixed for the next 5 to 6 years, like energy aura, trick arrow, and gravity control.
-
Everything else is you mentioned will easily be more survivable because they will either get missed or take damage against those in smaller chunks especially if they are have gawd mode powers that last more than 10 seconds instead of just flatout being squished like regen would. Maybe they are not releasing all the details on this set if they did changes but regen in its current form with brute hp is not going to be so spectacular as everyone thinks. I will personally be testing this in beta if they have one for this issue and I already expect this set to need some kind of buff to compensate for all the attention brutes get while in combat. I shudder when I think about how bad it would be if it went to tanks as well.

Quote:Its worth a sub. As for as the server being dead issue that varies by server. The best way to avoid this is to pick the more populated ones from the start, just not the highest populated ones as those tend to have the more crazy players. The servers are sorted by population for least to greatest upon log in at that point in time after the top server the in the listing. In other words pick servers near the bottom that arent freedom or virtue and you will be fine.My friends and I were thinking about starting into this game because of the deal on steam, but everyone keeps telling us that no one plays anymore and that the servers are all but dead. Now I don't just believe what 'everyone says' so I thought I'd come here to ask about the general level of activity. Is it still hopping? Is getting the game now a good investment or will we be looking at a waste of money in a few months? What are the best servers to play on? and basically anything that you guys think could help us out.
Thanks in advance,
Dantia -
Ok then tell me how you gonna survive an av if everything is on cool down? For the record we are talking about SO builds not some crazy over the top gimmick with IOs or incarnate powers. I am just thinking of how bad something like the LRSF is going to be tanking on a regen. People need to wake up, this set is a shadow of a shadow of shadow of a shadow of its former self. I remember the glory days when a single regen could tank hami but those days are gone. This set will be very poor for tanking capped hp or not.
-
So no hope for the end of "lol stalkers" with this patch either?
-
Illusion is long over due. Its been wanted since issue 6 and doms still dont have it. So I think its owed to doms at this point before anything else for doms.
-
-
I guess my next question is how are they going to make regen playable on brutes in terms of tanking? Given how are hard avs hit there isnt much all those clicks are going to do. Mog just means you delayed becoming a greasy stain on the pavement for 10 seconds or so. Your still going to die.
-
All I can say is we better not hear **** else about the cottage rule after this issue goes live. You have literally nuked the cottage with this round of changes. Still mad about no illusion though. For the post i21 changes my guess is someone finally had the balls to get rid of dimension shift and they are fixing gravity control.
-
So mad rite noa, I cant see how else can doms be made better since they are very good to play now. Its the stalkers who need help. I am very upset that doms did not get illusion though. Its the one thing that we are missing since cov launch. I got the feeling when it does finally happen its going to be so butchered that it will not be worth playing.

Quote:I disagree here. At this point in time there is no reason why a stalker can not stay and scrap during the fight. The whole hit and run play style is what got stalkers a bad rep in the first place. So aside from AVs 1 shotting we really have no survivability issues because we have a lower threat than scrappers/brutes. They could have just as easily removed the taunt aspect of those powers and said in the description how you must be near the mobs to get the benefit of it. CoF is crap due to the insane end costs for what it does and the lower accuracy, OG is ok but to really leverage it you need a set that stuns too otherwise its just minion protection.I personally like sets that don't require you to have foes around to function. When foes move/run, when you must move/run, when foes get knocked back or if the enemy is simply out of range, these are situations where requiring foes around you is a detriment. I suppose if all you do is farm, yeah, Stalker WP is crap...
But it's got more survival than Ninjutsu. So I guess Ninjutsu is garbage too.
And even with suppressing toggles, I wouldn't want Invincibility, RttC or AAO on a Stalker but a situationally independent equivalent. CoF and OG are completely different as they are control effects, not self buffs. Those buff auras *are* opposed to Stalker playstyle...because Stalkers must keep mobile, work with as little aggro as possible and most importantly, not need to worry about toggles removing their ability to use Placate effectively. -
Quote:What you quoted is not what the actual issue is. It just shows how out of touch the developers are with stalker issues. No stalker I know or ever played has ever had aggro issues on a team. Stalkers do not have aggro problems. We suffer from suck *** damage syndrome when you compare it to brutes and scrappers.Bull Manure.

Your post indicates that the Stalkers themselves are the problem, and that the developers don't care about stalkers, or don't want to focus attention on Stalkers.
You. Are. WRONG.
The fact is this: The developers have done significant amount of work on Stalkers, giving them buff after buff after buff.
The problems with Stalkers are in how the game itself is played, and how the players treat each character. Those SYSTEMS issues are the issues that have to be addressed.
So you can drop your little F.U.D. propaganda tactic. It isn't going to fly around here.
Quote:Because variable attack speed isn't a damnable mechanic that is deemed unplayable for stalkers. I should know, I have a lvl 50 Spines stalker and a lvl 40 EM stalker. They are slow and they don't speed up.
The reason shields was pulled is because of the multiple PBAoE effects (enemy aura for +dmg, ally +def and ally self +def). For an AT not meant to sit around next to allies, it's understandable but I think it can be made to work or changed so it doesn't so heavily rely on being planted next to stuff.
So explain to me exactly why you think momentum is anti-stalker. I'm not the only poster not understanding your rationale.
Quote:I have to figure out where you got your reading comprehension skills so I can sue the place for a disservice to mankind.
First, I don't claim that stalkers themselves are the problem. My post only says that Stalkers are not useful in most CoH/V content. The simple fact is that in nearly every scenario, a Scrapper will be more beneficial to the team than a Stalker of comparable powersets.
Next, I don't claim that the developers don't care about Stalkers. I say that they will not get the attention they need to become useful. In the very Castle post you quoted, he says the problems inherent in the systems are not being looked at because of how resource intensive a solution would be.
So again, je saist, you prove that your incorrect spelling of "I know" in French is symbolic of your knowledge and attitude. Thank you for playing. Try again next year.
Quote:Hear hear! I hope with the new team (the one that chose to make Fitness inherent), they'll come up with something. Stalkers are decent, but yeah, the fact that other ATs can do nearly everything they can do and better doesn't really bode well for them.
I am all about AT parity and think it's silly to reject a player because they chose a specific AT. That part is dumb. But the fact that they slightly underperfom compared to other ATs (also hotly debated), I would love to see them be given that definitive/desired niche in a team enviroment. -
Quote:To be fair doms where in way worse shape then stalkers. Things changed drastically for them once they got a useful buff. What needs to happen is all this end/recharge/damage formula needs to go out the window for stalkers or they need to make the damage mods so high that it does not break the formula some how. Either way something has got to give cuz stalkers are hurting bad. Right now the only ways I can think of fixing them is to either return the scaling AS we had on test server a few years back and/or make the single target damage so high that it mimics aoe damage, meaning every hit with build up will always 1 shot bosses. Its either do this or go back and put back all the aoes that were gutted from the sets.It should be:
Stalker ----Scrapper----Brute----- Tanker
Damage---------------------------Durability
In fact it is:
StlkrScrapperBruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuteTank
Damage---------------------------Durability
The Devs need to fix this like so:
Stalker------------------Scrapper----------Brute-----------------Tank
Damage--------------------------------------------------------Durability
Give stalkers a base melee dam mod of 1.25. (!)
See:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Damage_Scalars
WTF? Why do DOMS have a higher melee damage scalar than STALKERS?
At the same time, raise Stalkers and Scrappers damage cap by 100 percent, and raise tanks resistance caps by three percent.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Damage_Cap#Damage
Scraps and Stalkers now cap at +600 percent melee, Brutes at +775, tanks at +400. Assuming I'm reading this right.
If an attack does a base 100, then:
Tanks start at 80x1.2=96 and cap at 320 x1.2 = 384 (w/bruising, unchanged)
Brutes start at 75 and can cap at 581(unchanged)
Scrappers start at 112.5x1.06 =119 and can cap at 675x1.06=715.5 (raised from 596)
Stalkers start at 125 and can cap at 750+(raised from 500+) Yes, I completely ignore the complicated kabuki-dance extras that stalkers get because it's stupid and they should do STOOPID DAMAGE for having to put up with that crap. So whatever they peak at, buffed and dancing all purty, should be enough to make your eyes pop out. Crit that boss to death in one shot? They sure as hell deserve it for having to wear the pretty little ballerina dress ALL THE TIME.
Voila, now each melee archetype is distinctly unique. Stalkers can handily out-damage everybody in melee, scrappers out-damage brutes when buffed enough, and tanks out-survive brutes by enough to make a difference.
Ehn, but what do I know. -
-
To be honest you simply dont need it. This is the only true sapping set in the game. It drains them dry fast and keeps them drain unlike everything else. Personally I say pair it with earth to make up for the suck *** damage the gremlins have and get the damage aura so you can melt the mobs too.
-
Quote:So sad but so true at the same time.Who's to say they should get anything in "exchange"? If they don't get it, they simply don't. Why would you care anyway? It's not like stalkers are useful or will ever get the attentionthey need to become so. Just like peacebringers. Or pvp. Some things just don't warrant dev attention.
-
Quote:Personally I would settle on them actually fixing the stalker teaming issues once and for all. They can keep the super big weapons, I just want to put an end finally to "lol stalkers".So I have been reading up on this new set, and how it will use a new "momentum" mechanic that speeds up its attack animations as time goes on.
How would this work on a stalker? I mean stalkers are supposed to have a more staggered attack style (Cough USELESS ASSASSIN STRIKE Cough) and that is one of the main reasons they get the cool utility powers replaced with build up.
So Is it pretty safe to assume that Stalkers will not get Titan Weapons?
If that assumption is correct, are they getting something else in exchange? -
Finally saw it. Much better than the last movie. So glad they did not have the racists bots in this one. My only complaint is the new girl needs more meat on her bones. She looks like she starved herself to play this role or something. Her acting was ok its just the not having meat on her bones kind of made it hard for me to like her. Plot wise I was a little upset with the whole betrayal thing but I just do not know why they chose that angle. One thing they need to do though is get rid of so much human involvement, for the most part they just get in the way and end up needing to be saved. On a side note, after seeing this my wife is having a hard time watching Grey's Anatomy now after seeing Mc Dreamy as a villian.
