  1. Cool beans! I will contact you in game when i can
  2. We have a website now! It isn't much, but I'm working on it!

    http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.asp...&TabID=3123533

Gonna try and get us a Virtueverse page one of these days as well.

The SG has exploded with growth, which really surprised me. I think we've got at least 12 unique members, and a couple alts, and I've gotten messages from 3 or 4 people who want membership as soon as they leave Praetoria. Woo-hoo!
  3. I've got a 50 SoA crab that would love to join because he thinks Cole's invasion would be an excellent destabilizing/chaotic element. He may not be loyal to Cole per se, but he's all about backing his plans. I'd love to join up.

Also, we should set up an SG throw down fight between our two groups in a PvP zone or arena sometime!
  4. What kind of roleplaying are you interested in? What kind of characters do you have? Do you have a particular theme you're looking for, or would like to see?
  5. I made my own costume ideas, just for fun:

    War Mage:

    Marine:

    Covert Ops:

    Engineer:

I'll roll a character once some of the uniforms get solidified and some kind of close-to-final idea for the ship's division gets up.
  6. Novus Legatio would be quite happy to form a coalition with you, sir! Lemme know @Emperor Justin whenever you wanna get things rolling.
  7. Except in the dimension this group comes from, they're part of Vanguard, and Vanguard does have its own mages to counter the Rikti that study magic.
  8. Suggestions for Potential shipboard divisions:

Medic Corps: A group dedicated to the defense and healing of their fellow crewmates, specializing in field triage and other defensive combat measures.

Research Division: While the Engineering branch is the rough and dirty backbone of the ship that keeps the existing technology working like a charm, those in Research Division are the neater, more clinical thinkers who study, research, and develop new tech (or new spells/wards for the Mage's branch) for the ship's crew.

Aerial Corps: those soldiers who, either through their own means or some form of technology (rocket boots, wings, small fighter ships) take to the sky rather than the land. They defend the Liberty Ascendant from the air while the Marines take the ground. (This could also mean a cool hangar type area in the ship/base filled with those Longbow flier vehicles, as well as innate rivalry among them and the Marines, which is fairly traditional in real and fictional militaries)

Communications Division: skilled linguists and communicators as well as able diplomats, they are the first to make contact with a new force or organization (and where the ones to initially make contact with Primal Earth under the Captain's orders and help negotiate a solution).
  9. Cross posting this from your forums so the information can all be in one thread here. The ship's organizations:

    Ship Security Division:

Black Armored, heavy hitting, these are the men and women who patrol the ship and keep it safe from within.

    United Earth Marine Corps. (UEMC):

Essentially the ground troopers, first in, last out of any hostile situation. Can participate in ground action and boarding action.

    Technicians:

Sometimes hairy, sometimes smelly, these are the men and women who maintain the ship and equipment for the military. Need a weapon repaired? Need some fancy new tech? These are the people to speak to.

    Artificial Intelligence Legion:

A horde of combat droids, sometimes operating individually, sometimes with support from a more intelligent and aggressive droid, sometimes with help from a technician, these brave groups deploy where the fighting is hottest and ruthlessly mow down all opposition.

    Covert Operations:

A shadowy branch within the military, there are a few operatives on board who specialize in espionage and military intelligence.

    War Mage Division:

Realizing that some foes fear fireballs more than bullets, the UEDC started enlisting magic users into their ranks. Sometimes a little eccentric, but they get the job done.

    Section 7:

Section 7 houses the results of military experiments, cyborg hybrids and various other super soldiers. May or may not be given limited access to the ship depending on stability.

I had a couple of questions about these. They mostly seem to be combat-centric, but there's a lot more stuff on a ship than just fighting. Will there/can there be a medical corps type branch? A science division (though this might fit under engineering, I'm thinking more like how Spock was some kind of Science officer, and Scotty was engineering)? Can mages specialize in something besides war? Is the robot division capable of anything besides fighting? Could a robot be a part of the Marines?

I know that's a lot of questions, but I'm interested and don't want to make a toon under a false assumption or mess with the lore or anything. Fun stuff so far!

Also, for anybody designing a toon, the uniform colors are apparently dark green, dark gray, dark blue, and black. Sorry if this info was posted already and I missed it.
  10. I'd be fine with that. Just roll some toons, get the initial sign-up bonuses, etc.
  11. Also, it would be neat if you could post ideas for the various uniforms. And I have another question! Is the lore for this SG idea you've got set in stone, or are there some gaps that other members may eventually contribute to?
  12. I'm at @Emperor Justin if you decide to get this off the ground.
  13. Pictures you lazy bums! >:I
    Also lol at Yakety Sax
  14. I love City of Heroes. I love music. So let's combine the two. I'm posting this thread here in Virtue because as the de facto RP server, there's likely to be more interesting song choices for characters, as opposed to everybody saying that "Hero" by Nickleback is their toon's theme (HURRRR).

So post a picture (preferably an actual picture and not a link to a picture) and your toon's song (preferably something we can actually listen to instead of just a name).

    So here we go:

    Name: Monju Bosatsu-7
    Theme: Flying Home

    Name: Kahoku Sagara
    Theme: Dragon Reika
  15. What would the ship's uniform look like? Would characters who are entirely robotic need to wear one?
  16. Um, well, I just started a Praetorian Embassy SG that's looking for Primals to join to increase the relations between worlds.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=235198

That's the link to the thread if you want more info. We're pretty small still (5-6 people with a couple more incoming once they hit 20 and leave Praetoria, and some alts from existing members), but we'd love to have you!
  17. A question:

When you call it the United Earth Defense Core, do you mean "Core" like the middle of something, or "Corps" like Marine Corps? I know Corps has a P and an S but it's pronounced the same as Core. just wanted to check.

I'm glad you joined up and are enjoying the group! Welcome to the forums.

As for the rest, we've got a great handful of people now, but we still need somebody to head up the intelligence division. So if somebody has a character that would make a good spymaster slash scientist slash brainy research guy or something like that, it would be awesome.

    Cheers.
  19. I was actually thinking about rolling a ninja toon. Either an MM or a stalker. If you wanna get one going (a ninja SG that is) I'd be happy to sign up.
  20. I still found the content in Praetoria to have that comic-booky feel to it. Unless you're just saying ONLY heroic/Good content, which is pretty limiting. However, I really don't think you need to worry. It'd be pretty silly of the Devs to just stop making hero content. I think as long as the game is running, heroes will get stuff.

    Random idea: new enemy group.

Praetoria is a country, yes? Or at least, something like a country? If I'm wrong, please correct me. But if it IS a country, it should have a military. No the PPD do NOT count. Police do not equal soldiers. Powers Division is NOT the military either because it isn't structured like one, and it doesn't serve the purpose of one.

Cole's aiming to invade Primal Earth, and (SPOILERS AHEAD) from the end of the Responsibility arc, he's looking to do it with a bunch of those mega Clockwork titan thingies (BTW, do you ever face one of those in-game? i've only seen them in the cut scene). While no doubt powerful, an army comprised solely of those things would be very limited in strategic terms, and no doubt monstrously expensive. The Rikti don't JUST invade with their heavy units. they got foot soldiers and lieutenants and so on.

So Praetoria needs an army. Now, they wouldn't be posted in the city itself. That's what the PPD is for. But they would be posted at places like the aforementioned Fort Gladius, and other places of strategic military importance.

    So, rough ideas:

    Enemy Group Name: <Praetorian Legion>

    UNDERLING:
Lookout-A small, hovering object resembling an upsidedown silver bowl, equipped with a a weak pulse weapon, and a speaker. Through some unknwon means, it can detect the presence of hostile forces and alert nearby legionnaires. (This was just a brainfart I had. A potential psychic, taken by Tilman, doesn't quite make it through the Seer-making process. They die, or almost do. The military takes the brain, and places it in a stasis unit (the bowl thingy) and equips it so that it can detect hostile thoughts and relay danger to the troops, acting as an early warning system. They wouldn't be capable of much else, just sort of like having a canary in a mineshaft. Brains in floating jars, basically)

    MINIONS:
Legionnaire-the basic footsoldier of Praetoria's military. Equipped with a basic pulse rifle (a sleeker version perhaps of what the Resistance has, perhaps implying that the Resistance is using outdated, and stolen, military tech to arm themselves, since they likely do not have any factories of their own).

Field Medic-A skilled soldier proficient in the use of battle triage. While only armed with a simple handgun, his ability to keep his more heavily-armed allies active in a fight makes him more dangerous than most.

L.I.U. Clockwork- More heavily armed than the basic Praetorian Clockwork, the Light Infantry Unit is capable of having many loadouts, making it versatile in the field. Submachine guns and pulse rifles can be mounted to its forearms, as well as flamethrowers, or non-lethal weapons such as net grenade launchers, and electrical long-range taze guns.

    LIEUTENANTS:
Tribune-Often seen leading smal lsquads of legionnaires, the Tribune is equipped with both a powerful pulse rifle, and a close quarters energy weapon (usually a sword of some kind). He is clad in heavier armor than the typical Legionnaire, and is capable of rallying the troops around him to improve their damage output and accuracy.

Heavy Weapons Tribune-A veteran soldier that wields powerful weaponry with the assistance of light power armor, making them tougher, and able to wield their destructive wepons longer, and with greater accuracy.

    BOSSES:
Centurion-a hardened wartime soldier who has seen multiple campaigns against the Empire's enemies. They possess a durable force shield and a large energy melee weapon. Their advanced armor allows them to withstand incredible amounts of pain, and in emergencies, inject the wearer with powerful stimulants.

H.A.S. Clockwork- While not quite as impressive as their bigger cousins (the ones seen in the cutscene mentioned earlier) the Heavy assault and Siege clockwork are cheaper to produce and almost as destructive. Made for attacking either enemy heavy units, or entrenched positions, the HAS Unit has shoulder-mounted missile launchers, forearm pulse gatling guns, and a chest mounted energy cannon.

Just ideas I had when i couldn't sleep.
  21. Care to share what, if any, the response was?
  22. What is up fellow Phoenix dweller! I agree that Praetoria was a mixed blessing for the Devs, because while almost everybody can agree that it's gorgeous and they all did excellent jobs, now we all want the rest of Paragon and the Isles to have that level of quality in it, which means more work for them.

Noble Savage has stated at least once or twice that he'd like to rework some of the zones or buildings. Not that it'll definitely happen, just that he'd like it to.
