  1. The pop-up says you're testing the HALLOWEEN event.

    Might wanna fix that =p
  2. Okay, but you don't NEED 3 recharge in FS with my build. It's ALREADY double-stacked (and you're at the damage cap) 90% of the time. That's 2 or 3 slots that can be used to enhance other powers.

Also, there's this thing called ED that makes more and more recharge more and more useless. For example, after re-tweaking my build, I'm looking at 87.5% global recharge. Fulcrum Shift's BASE recharge, without ANY enhancements, is already 32 seconds.

Add ONE recharge redux, and it's down to 21.6. It's already perma-doubled. Turn on Hasten and one application of siphon speed and it's down to 18.8 seconds. Right now, i can ALREADY tripple-stack it. Adding another recharge redux enhancements only takes two seconds off the recharge time. The third one takes off LESS THAN ONE SECOND.

Reducing one power's effectiveness by 30% is NOT worth a half a second of recharge in a power when my damage is already capped!

See where I'm going with this? Sure, ONE more recharge redux might help a little, but the third is completely, 100% wasted.
  3. Actually, Fulcrum Shift is kinda over-slotted; My BASE accuracy is already +95% and base recharge is +77.5% (right now i'm in the process of evening out those bonuses so I have more recharge at the expense of some accuracy). Throw in Siphon Speedx2, Hasten, and the occasional recharge bonus from Levitate and Psinado (Force Feedback procs), AND the slots I already have, and it's up at least twice a fight as it is and never misses. Why would I need to slot it more?

Indom wil has the LotG set in it for the bonuses. Removing the end redux one would deprive me of my 9% acc bonus, so, NO.

Flight is slotted as is for the bonuses from the Zephyr set. And i hate flying slow, so those enhancements stay in there.

The extra end mod in speed boost actually helps a great deal. When I actually DO remember to SB my team, they never run out of end. Ever. It is one of the places I could fudge a slot from if I needed to, however.

Sorry Psiphon, but since this isn't a farming build, i don't need fulcrum shift to be up every 10 seconds. And since it lasts for 60 seconds, and only takes 2 applications (or sometimes just 1 in a good sized mob) to reach the damage cap... it's already over-kill. No need to gimp half my powers. =)

As for Local_Man's suggestion on the CP proc, I don't think it's worth pulling a slot from anywhere else, but it IS a valid tactic. I persoanaly wouldn't use it, because there'll be those 5% of times where i only want to confuse one foe (for purely fun or strategic reasons), but that's just me.
  4. Energy drain is a terrible control method unless it also floors a foe's recovery. Because any NPC enemy can use any attack as long as they have 1 point of endurance. And they'll get that point of endurance back in less than 2 seconds after you hit them.

So elec control will have your standard Immob (electric fence) sleep (like the clockwork use) hold (Tesla cage), an AoE of each (at the very least, an AoE immob and AoE hold) and 3 or 4 other utility powers. Thunder clap and an enhanced version of Voltaic Sentinel (for a pet) are almost a given.
  5. You could try (APP)Psi for concept. Psi-nado does almost as much damage as fireball (but it's all DoT). Also, you can get your psi protection that way instead of IOing out and focus on recharge bonuses instead.

Levitate is a good power to have: it gives you a second damage type besides psi (useful for enemies that have high psi resist) and having an extra 3-5 seconds of mitigation is pretty nice, too. If you want to nix it though, pick up an ST attack from your APP to fill out your attack chain.

Mind has weaknesses... Kin alleviates these somewhat. With IOs, the set plays the way it OUGHT to out of the box, which is probably why you're enjoying yourself more.

Anyway, here's one of my current builds... the one that gets me compliments from other players when they notice how much butt I'm kicking (sorry, had to brag ^_^):

I'll note out of fairness that my "butt kicking" is more of a function of playstyle than just getting high-end shinies. However, those shinies help expidite the playstyle; specifically, I don't play as a Controller, but as a blaster with controls. But anything that won't die in a few hits will most certainly be contained.
  6. I already HAVE an electric controller.

In all truthfullness, it's a defender loaded to the gills with hold and stun procs. Works out pretty well actually.
  7. WALKING BUG: If you switch builds, walk won't activate until your 15-minute "build switching" timer is up. Slightly annoying. Sent in a ticket.
  8. I took one look at the title of this thread and thought: "Bow chicka wow-wow!"

Upon reading the content of it i am hugely dissapointed.
  9. So basically you're taking all the supposed content in GR and squishing it down into 2 arcs?

    >_>

    <_<

    >_>

*shrugs* I actually like the concept, but i think you'd be better served making your own alternate world instead of trying to preemptively rip off an announced expansion.
  10. Hey, i think that soul has npples!

    *squints*

No, no, wait, that's just JPEG compression.

That's more than five words. Now bugger off! Anyway...

Look W_E, Venture attacked your arc, NOT you. If other people are harassing YOU in-game over this, write up a support ticket and let the GMs deal with it. Coming into Venture's thread to chew him out is not impressive to your detractors; in fact, it only serves to fuel their twisted desire to see how far they can push you.

Not that I condone the behavior. However, I think it was Lemur_Lad who said something like "If you hang your underwear out to dry, don't expect people not to laugh at your skidmarks". And that's EXACTLY what you're doing every time you post in this thread: showing off the undies. In that last case, you're showing weakness. And like most cowardly predators, those who attack you wouldn't strike unless they detect that you're already wounded. It's really a bit problematic: The more you defend yourself, the more likely people are to attack you. Kinda sucks, don't it? =/

See, I don't think you're "the bad guy". That's a persecution complex talking. No, I think you simply need to find a better copping mechanism for all of this. Developing a careless attitude over the fact that it's just a bunch of jerks on the flippin INTERNET might be a good start.

    Vu2010 open!

...Won't opening the channel early result in it getting FILLED early next year?

I mean, won't we end up having this problem in, oh... August or early September now? (assuming it takes only 10-11 months for the channel to fill)

By this rate we'll open VU2013 in March 2012 >_>

    ...Why are you here?

You've got a guy who absolutely despises your arc and uses it as a baseline example of the worst excesses of MA, and you're reading his thread and replying to his posts just like his fanboyish hangers-on.

He has a right to an opinion. You have a right to respond to it... but posting something every time he mentions it doesn't make you any more mature than he, and in fact it shows an alarming lack of emotional self-sufficiency on your part that ONE person thinking your arc is bad has gotten this much of your attention. I mean, your arc won a freakin award for heavens sake but you're STILL jeering at Venture? Really?

Ok, I got an idea. Hey Venture, remember how you hated my arc? Use THAT as a baseline for crap. I could use the publicity!
  14. The "one of each type" refers to the specific enhancement. Like you can only slot one Tunderstrike: Acc/Dam within a single power, BUT, you can slot Thunderstrike: Acc/Dam in as many powers as you'd like.

example, you cannot do this (Assume all are thudnerstrike):

    (Acc/Dam)(Acc/Dam)(Acc/Dam)

However, you CAN slot Acc/Dam from three DIFFERENT sets (this is refered to as Frankenslotting). The upside is higher enhanced numbers in fewer slots; the downside is no or few bonuses.

This is the rule, though there are exceptions, such as "Uniques", which can only be slotted once per build. Note that all purples are uniques!
  15. it's a misunderstanding; actually the size of everything we PUT into the MA is doubling, which means our save space is technically getting halved.

JK =P I hadn't heard about that, hope it's true!
  16. Also note that, if someone is solo (or maybe even duoing), an AV will spawn as an EB and be a total wimp, relatively speaking. The only difference betwen an AV and EB at that point is the AV gets the Purple Triangles of Doom (mez protection).

Allies are helpful, though support from NPC allies is iffy; they don't always buff when or how you'd like them to. And if the AV is downgraded, it'll make the fight too easy. If you do have allies, you may want to put a note in the briefing text (in another color) stating that there is an AV fight with allies and to adjust one's difficulty settings appropriately.

Best thing to do is have allies be optional (ie, not a required objective). If the story demands they be rescued or linked up with, see about making them boss-level helpers instead of EBs. Note that for some people, the "boss" allies will downgrade to LTs... who'll get squashed by a EB. You can ask people to keep "Bosses on", informing them that they'll have NPC help to rectify this.

  18. I have to second the "Tanks need brains" philosophy. It doesn't take brains to stand there and hit "taunt". But those tanks will often faceplant the second they bite off more than they can chew. And if someone's just gonna eat agro for 5 seconds before dying, you might as well have a Blaster take alpha. Inspiration use, maneuvering, situational and environmental awareness are the best tool at a Tank's disposal.

    End Boss Escape

    Just wondering:

Does the Villain reaching the door constitute a FAILED mission? Won't that cheese players off that they have to fail the mission to proceed the way they're supposed to?

Of course, this would be easier if the devs allowed us to let enemies TP out when they reach a certain % of health like a few AVs do.

OR, you could be a total jerk and have the villain be a HOSTAGE and make up some BS about him having an invincibility field (that he'll obviously forget to use in the final battle). So when you defeat his "minions" he runs off and the mission ends. Trying to hit him would result in "Invalid target"... and cheese off a lot of players. =P
  20. You can also Purple out your 50, and have an easeir time with raids, late-level TFs, and AE arcs. Go Badging. PvP is also an option.

There's no "Level 50's only" exclusive content that signals "Game over" or "End of story". It would be counter-intuitive with the Devs desire to let people play with friends of any level (except in the most extreme circumstances) and to allow your character to have an active part in the universe.

I mean, think of it this way: Lots of MMOs have an "end-game". You do it. Then what, cancel your subscription? No, you keep playing (in theory). That doesn't sound like an "end game" to me.

But, yes, altitis is key. Because playing an Empath defender is NOTHING like playing Forcefields which is NOTHING like Trick Arrow which is NOTHING like Dark Miasma which is NOTHING like Sonic which is NOTHING like Storm which is... well, you get the point. And that's only SOME of the Primary powersets within ONE AT out of 14 available! The possibilities are near endless!
  21. If it's not a Nemesis Plot, you can MAKE it one!!!!1

    *cough* sorry.

    He Returns

    =^o^=

    Diggin' this!
  23. Description: After a recon mission gone wrong, Indigo is missing and Crimson has been benched, so he must rely on you to find her. An operative with the Knives of Artemis shows up and claims that Indigo will be returned safe... IF you help her prevent the Knives from plunging into a civil war!

Details: 5 missions, short to medium length. Custom bosses, custom AVs.

Notes: No, it's not 5 missions full of KoA. That'd be awful. Not only is the "empty" option used in EVERY map (to help control spawn number and placement, as well as affect mood and atmosphere... however, due to this, most missions won't be very good for drops or XP), but you don't even fight any KoA in some of them (they are, after all, a very small group. Wouldn't make sense to have several missions full to the brim with them). There's lots of story to be had, so make sure you read NPC dialog, info windows and clues.

I wanted to make an arc that explores the KoA a bit more... all we see of them in canon (justifiably) is hanging around the Malta once in a while. We know almost nothing about them, which gave me plenty of room to play around with how they operate and how they perceive themselves and their place in the world. Also, chicks with swords are hot.

Status: Looking for feedback. Admittedly, I missed a great opportunity for interplay given Indigo's history with the KoA, but hopefully that's the only existing canon or logistic issue. I handwave this, as the Knives want YOU to do something for them, and that for the purpose of this story, Indigo is not important to their plans other than helping to ensure your cooperation. Though it might make more sense for me to have Crimson be captured and have Indigo be the contact... except she's supposedly psychic and that would bring up all new problems. There's also a part of the ending that I slapped on because the arc feels incomplete without it, though it may come off as contrived.

I am currently looking for constructive criticism regarding this arc. I'm amenable to changing just about anything, as long as it's for a good reason that doesn't completely contradict my design philosophy for this arc.
