  1. ... I'm too lazy to read all this =(
  2. My mind/kin would go about business as normal, as she's simply convinced you that you've captured her without having actually done so.

Barring that abuse of godmoding, she'd make a small hole in the floor and mentally command the monster below and making it help her.

If that's not in the rules, i could cast Increase Density on the bars until they become too heavy to support their own weight and fall over. Though I guess ID doesn't work like that...?

I guess I could just use my telekinetic abilities to pick the lock or remove the door from its hinges.

Anyway, that's only the first part dealt with. Though even as a Mind Controller, i rarely have trouble using my powers on robots (in-game, anyway). Assuming that a mental assault or confusion wouldn't work, I'd make sure to siphon speed one, and weave through and between the robots and make them hit one another with their own attacks. Simple enough.

As for the tripwires? I'd just hover and avoid them. Assuming that the friggin lasers are invisible and I've no idea that they're there, i'd just get out of the main area ASAP once i see the gas coming.

As for YOU? Well, in-game, it'd be a simple matter of using Mass Confusion, or Mass Hypnosis and sneaking by in the chaos. But let's assume that robots are not susceptible to the weaknesses of an organic mind. Repel could still be used to knock your goons around while I take you mano-a-roboto. Though you might have repulsion feild, keeping me at bay and negating my ability to get into melee to knock your goons around with Repel.

Still, TK could keep your goons pinned. I'd just spam transfusion and transference to make you run out of endurance, making your toggle-shields drop. Easy pickings from there.

Snare? What's that? All I got are a Sleep, a Hold, Levitate, a cone fear and a confuse power. And they'd never hit or if they did hit they'd do pathetic damage and the opponent wouldn't get mezzed...

...then a stalker would kill me =(
  4. ... Do people seriously not know what the Apex TF is?

You fools need to get out of the D more often! We've got a world to save!
  5. I like the IDEA behind heal decay and travel suppression. As a once-in-a-great-while PvPer on a controller, it always REALLY cheesed me off when someone was zipping around faster than i could turn my camera to target them and try to get a single attack off, and they ran away. Like, what, really?

Old PvP favored someone having SS, SJ, Heal Self, and a small handfull of their normally available powers. it DIDN'T WORK for people with normal PvE builds, which is why I can appreciate the Devs efforts at curtailing some of these oddball power-choices.

However, as others have said, it went too far, so, yeah.

Anyway, I also like, in general, that it's THERE if I decide to give it another try. I like the visceral adrenaline rush I get when a match is close. There's a real sense of "oh crap I'm gonna lose!", which isn't present when i fight most NPCs. But then if I win, the relief and sense of victory is also much more rewarding than beating down an NPC. So there's that, too =)

  7. Since defeat badges don't tick when you defeat an enemy in AE, will you still get badge crafting credit for using the work-tables in MA?

    BTW, brilliant idea anyway!
  8. Don't use 'em, couldn't tell ya =/

Though it would be in the best interest of a "scientific" study of the situation if i tried to use 'em. *SIGH*
  9. Heh, funny how the BAF was made with the mindset that KB powers are king for keeping some of the escapes and the clockwork bosses down, and people are still saying how useless this power (and others like it) is =P

  11. Hey guys, need some brainpower to figure something out here.

My computer works fast and smooth most of the time. I don't have any issues with any programs or other websites. HOWEVER, on THESE forums, when i use my scroll-wheel to navigate, it's very choppy and laggy. My system manager reports that almost 25% of my system resources are going towards Firefox when I try to use the scroll wheel on the forums. Looking at the usage graph, three procs remain unused while the fourth one goes ballistic trying to crunch all the data apparently required to scroll down a page length >_>

I should also note that if i don't go to Facebook first, this issue doesn't arise as often. In fact, sometimes closing my browser, letting it sit for a minute then restarting alleviates most of the lag.

So it seems to me there's some kind of Facebook/Firefox/CoH Forum incompatibility. here are my readouts from CoHHelper and HiJackThis logs:

  12. Sorry you've not received help so far. However, the MA community is VERY anti-farming, due to the fact that there are thousands of possibly abandoned farm maps cluttering up the database, making it harder fro people to find their stories which they've spent time and care trying to craft.

However, If you intend on doing some more serious work later on, i see no reason not to help you get your jollies out of your system.

The "rectangular farming map" is under unique maps->outdoor->City 2 or 3 i think. It's been a while, but if you DO have to unlock it, it'll cost you tickets, which you get by running other MA missions.

You cannot control how tightly cluttered a mob will be. In fact, the game has a mechanic that tells groups of mobs to start slowly spreading out.

Also, there's no real "listing". Almost every faction in the game is in the editor, if that helps. When you go to make your map, it'll ask for a primary enemy type near the top of the mission editor screen. Everything from 5th column to Longbow to Werewolves.

Note that you can make your own groups from existing mobs, but that you'll suffer an XP loss from any group that doesn't have minions, lts, AND bosses. So if you make a group of only minions, that group will only give 33% XP.

As for rewards: You'll have to PUBLISH your arc for it to give rewards. Otherwise, just running in test mode will not result in any drops at all. In addition, only XP and inf will drop from MA enemies. They will not drop salvage, recipes, or enhancements. They WILL drop "Tickets", which can be redeemed inside the AE building for prizes (which include salvage and recipes and enhancements =) )

Finally, aside from the tickets thing, as long as any custom groups have minions, lts, and at least one boss, and as long as custom critters offer 100% XP (it will tell you while selecting that critter's powers how much XP they're worth), you won't receive an XP penalty playing MA missions. MA misisons won't use "Rested" XP though (the blue bar of 1.5x XP you get when you havn't played a character in over a day).
  13. Aside from the dissonance of seeing several different art styles all over, these are all great and I look forward to seeing them in-game! Congrats to the winners!
  14. I'd say my favorite PvP experience in CoH was when i was on my Mind/Kin controller, holding off 3 guys at once. I had one Tked into a corner, a stalker kept bouncing off my repel, and a third i was simply fighting essentially mano-a-mano. The stalker wised up and eventually shanked me from outside my repel range, but it was fun nonetheless.

Another time was i think after the "PvP revamp", the same mind/kin held off two */thermal cors who were literally melting everyone else in the zone. Even though i couldn't beat them both, they still congratulated me for lasting as long as i did and giving them a real fight. Then i went back for more, because it was fun =)

As for in other games... basically similar situations. I'm not that great a gamer, but any time the odds are against me and i still pull off a win or at least a respectable showing (Like once in Counter Strike where i managed to hold off a pair of T's AND defuse their bomb when I'm usually the first guy dead in a given round).

However, I'm not sure how any of this would help your design goals. You can't make everyone powerful enough to hold off 2 or 3 guys without those other 2 or 3 guys being just as powerful, which would beg the question as to why only one person can hold them off. We already have elusitivity (which doesn't seem to work), and short of giving everyone huge damage debuffs whenever someone is targeted by more than one person, trying to enforce this experience might be difficult.
  15. EmperorSteele

    Umad the troll.

    I saw a character in a suit and green mask named ANNONYMOUS. I forsee a team-up =P
  16. Also, if you're killing mobs faster, you can kill MORE mobs and regain any "lost" XP. Given that very few TFs involve "Defeat-All" missions, any mission you DON'T defeat all the critters in can ALSO be considered "lost XP" so you've no one to blame but yourself.

Also, enemies attacking each other = enemies not killing you. You not being dead = no XP Debt. And no XP Debt = more XP for you!
  17. Vernich: The purple font look AWFUL on the default forum hero colors! Aaaggh my eyes!

Good build from what i can tell, though!
  18. Game server peak times aren't "weird", they're when everyone is home from school and work =P

In regards to your request, just hang out in Grandville, people should be shouting in broadcast for a team, and someone should be setting up a master run.

Just quoting this to say, I PuG'd the STF tonight and it's about the best team i ever ran with!

    Mind/Kin troller (me)
    Thugs/TA MM
    Squiddy Warshade
    Dark/Dark Tank
Scrapper (didn't even look at his powers =/)
    Shield Tank
    FF Defender
    Emp defender

This team was put together when i noticed everyone LOOKING for a team and no one recruiting, so i grabbed the first seven people i saw shouting out. No stone/invuln tank, (heck, had 2 tanks, zomg!), no rads/thermals/colds, no dedicated ranged DPS, and we got through in about an hour and a half.

At best, this looks like a "Safe" group, with lots of defense and some control, but our offense was pretty good, too. Aeon went down in 2 minutes, we took all 4 patrons at once (granted we summoned Temp pets and used a Buff nuke), and Recluse went down with barely a hitch.

Moral of story? It's all about the players and how they build their characters, not specific powersets!

Well, the thing is, at least one poster came out and ADMITTED they wanted their wolf-head to be more "Attractive". So now whenever I see someone in-game with that wolf-head, I'm going to imagine them touching themselves because "zomg this wolf head is so pretty!". and I'm going to vomit in my mouth a little. And this is going to happen multiple times per play-session, I'm sure!

In other words, this is going to be just another way for people to put their fetishes on parade and ruin my fun!

In a completely unrelated note, when do we get a body type and animations for geriatrics with arthritis? I mean we have "old" faces, but they still have the bodies of 25 year olds that's about it. Talk about unfair!
  22. For those of you NOT watching the Facebook page, they have "Happy Friday" posts there, too, usually a picture of some staffers doing their thing or having fun... and the picture today reveals a NEW WOLF HEAD on one of the monitors!

That should shut the furries up, and for that, I'm happy!
