Hey All,
I'm trying to buy a new gaming rig, as my current one is having trouble keeping up with some of the more recent MMO's I've been trying out. Here's the nuts and bolts of what I'm looking for and a rig I put together. I just need another pair of eyes to take a look, as I've never bought a computer purely for gaming before.
1) What will you primarily be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming rig. CoH and Rift
2) What's your budget? (Real Dollars) Are tax and shipping included? This is important as it allows people trying to help you to suggest things appropriate to your budget.
$2000-$2500
3) Where do you live? This is important as it affects what vendors you may buy from and how much shipping costs might be.
Central Illinois
4) Are you planning to buy or build?
Buy
5) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need. If you're unsure what exactly you need, say so.
Motherboard, Graphics Card, Hard Drive, Ram, Monitor, Power Supply, OS
6) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Not reusing any parts
7) Will you be overclocking?
No
8) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
At least 24"
9) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
August/September (Try to take advantage of "Back-To-School" deals)
10) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Not sure......
11) Any specific must-have features? Must be able to max out Ultra-Mode? Must have 6+GB of RAM? Must have an SSD? etc.
Prefer to be able to run Ultra-Mode
Easily handle raids on MMO's
12) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to use?
Intel Processors
NVidea Graphics Cards
13) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to avoid?
Nope
14) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? (Note: If your current OS came with your computer, odds are that it is NOT transferable.)
Nope
Here is what I was looking at:

Any thoughts / ideas / opinions?
Thanks for any responses,

Hey All,
Time to upgrade the gaming rig, as my current system is starting to have trouble handling some of the graphic heavy MMO's I'm trying out. I'm not quite ready to try my hand at building my own rig (Read: Don't have the time/smarts/patience). I've started shopping around and think I found some pretty good deals, but I'm not good at comparing these things.
Here is the list of computers I was looking at:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...73_24023_24023
The one I was most interested in was this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...747&CatId=1886
Can anyone give me any ideas or recommendations from this list (or from any other site for that matter). I think the one I was looking at was a good price point where its just increasing RAM and/or video cards which I can upgrade overtime. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hey All,
I'm thinking of getting a new rig to play on as my current computer is starting to show its age (Almost 8 years old). I don't really have the time or experience to build my own computer, so I'm really looking for a pre-built package. I go with Dell because I've had good luck with them in the past, but I'm open to other suggestions. Here is what I've put together and I just wanted someone's opinion with more experience than me (read: Pretty much everyone). Any thoughts, ideas, or recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Right now I'm running CoH and a few other MMO's on my Dell Desktop that I got back in 2004. I've made a few upgrades to the ram and video card over the years, but its finally starting to show its age. I'm looking to buy a new gaming computer, but I need some suggestions on what to be looking for in order to get the best performance. I would prefer to buy a whole piece, instead of trying to build one on my own. Any suggestions on where to start looking or your own experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Planned OS: Windows 7

On this, the first day of Issue 20.5, a group on Incarnates that had never met before, ventured out against the infamous Keyes Trial. On a first try, the devious Anti-Matter cowered in fear by getting stuck in the floor during the 2nd reactor. A subsequent bashing lead to a league wipe and a failed trial. But, the valiant heroes (and some villains) tried again. And again Anti-Matter got stuck, this time by flying into a pipe. Luckily, a GM managed to unstick him, and with only 7mins remaining, they still managed to disable the 3rd reactor. A thoroughly enjoyable beat-down later, the Keyes trial was a SUCCESS, and the men cheered, and the women fainted, and the children waved multi-colored flags!
Thanks to everyone who came out, a really, really great job by all!

There is one redeeming quality to this article. It has one of the coolest photos I've ever seen

Besides that, I think its pretty obvious human behavior. Doing something that the community as a whole believes to be "bad" results in negative emotions. I might only be an engineer, but even I can do this kind of psycology. -
I'm trying to build my NRG/Elect Blaster for PvP. I've got most of the main and secondary powers picked out. I'm going mostly for damage, range, and knockback. I'm not sure what I what route I want to take with the ancillary pool. Here is what I'm choosing between:
Cold - Hibernate and Hoarfrost could be good in a pinch if I get in trouble.
Force - Personal Force Field, Temp Invul, and Force of Nature could really help make up for my lack of defense and resistance.
Munitions - Mostly for Survellance would be a great debuffer. Plus who wouldn't want to shoot the LRM missile?
What do you think? -
In my quest to get the Task Force Commander Accolade, I will be running the Positron Taskforce this Saturday at 10amCST. Its level 10-15 for experience. Leave your name, lvl, and AT if your interested. Also, let me know if you are down for a Synapse run afterwards.

I'm trying to build my newest blaster for PvP. What I wanted to know was which I should start saving up for Purple IO's or PvP IO's? Purples give sweet bonuses, but how do they stack up against those from the PvP sets in PvP zones? Thanks
-
So yesterday I kind of got ripped on a separate post for my newest build a AR/ElecM Blaster when I mentioned I wanted to build it for PvP. My original thought was that AR would be useful for knockback (always helpful in PvP). ElecM I thought would be good for general End Sapping to shut down toggles/shields. Is this not going to work out like I planned? If not, is there another build you can recommend for a PvP blaster? I was also looking at Fire/Ice for damage+slows but any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks -
Hey All,
I'm trying to make my latest toon, an assault rifle / electricity blaster for PvP. I need help deciding on what travel power to take: Flying or Leaping. I have not had much experience for PvP, but want to get into it more. I've used leaping before, and I know how much faster it is than the other travel powers (without the end drain of teleport). I haven't used flight much before, but I have heard it can be slower than the others. What are your opinions? -
Hey all,
I did a MA arc on Friday and I got about 4mil inf and 5000 tickets in 2 runs. The trouble is, I didn't have the star, so I don't know what the title of the arc was to do it again.
Here is what I remember:
It was an the outdoor map where the mobs were in between the skyscrapper buildings.
I believe the enemy group was called the "Warwolves". All of the mobs were lvl 53 bosses.
The compass text just said 'rawr'
The mission goal was to clear all enemies
There was only 1 mission
That is all I can remember now. I've tried searching for WarWolves, but that gave me a completely different arc. Searching for "rawr" returns about 30 different arcs. Has anyone else done this arc and can help me find it?
Thanks -
