Gaming Computer Help
I'm in a similar situation as you are, though apparently with a slightly lower budget.
One of the things I was advised was to look at this thread and fill out the answers in your thread:

Many of them are specific to "building your own", but even those get to thinking what you need. Specifically, answering the questions of what you'll do with the PC, budget, your location, and monitor will help the experts in this area (of which I am not) give you a better answer.
Edit: Actually, though not an expert, a few comments.
In the past I've bought from TigerDirect and NewEgg, and the vast majority of the time, everything goes right. On those rare occassions when it hasn't gone right, NewEgg was very proactive at making it right. TigerDirect eventually made it right but it wasn't easy. That was over a year ago, so TigerDirect may have gotten their act together, but I've never heard anyone do anything but rave about NewEgg's service.
Also, do look at the CyberPowerPC site and see what happens if you order it from there in terms of price and delivery. You definitely will be able to customize it in a way you can't from a retailer.
My arcs are constantly shifting, just search for GadgetDon for the latest.

Hey All,
Time to upgrade the gaming rig, as my current system is starting to have trouble handling some of the graphic heavy MMO's I'm trying out. I'm not quite ready to try my hand at building my own rig (Read: Don't have the time/smarts/patience). I've started shopping around and think I found some pretty good deals, but I'm not good at comparing these things. Here is the list of computers I was looking at: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...73_24023_24023 The one I was most interested in was this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...747&CatId=1886 Can anyone give me any ideas or recommendations from this list (or from any other site for that matter). I think the one I was looking at was a good price point where its just increasing RAM and/or video cards which I can upgrade overtime. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Elementor |
The cyperpower PC at least uses a GTX 560 which is a reasonable mid-grade card. Like most pre-built systems it doesn't actually say who made the parts in it. So I can't comment on that.
I would suggest going with what gadgetdon suggested which is go to cyperpower PC directly. They are local for me like 5 miles away, out in Baldwin Park home of In N Out burgers.
I would make up a system on their site and give us a list to go over and double check it.
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

the second to last number - the higher the better. A 460 is better than a 520 even if the 520 is newer.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
My last two computers were courtesy of IBuyPower.com - you go through, customize your rig, and they build it for you. Their customer service is excellent, the computers are solid, and I've recommended dozens of people to them.
