  1. When I21 launched, I started off with 1600.
My monthly billing date is the 21st.
I received an additional Reward Token and badges and such, but I did not get any additional points.

I'm not entirely sure if that was working as intended or not.
I was surprised that I started with 1,600 (I thought it would only be 1,200, so I thought that maybe I already received my September allotment, even though the billing date hadn't arrived until a bit later).
Just looking for any clarification/info that I may have missed/forgotten!

    Thanks!

Just for the sake of discussion...
I think I only mentioned my general dislike of exemp'ing in here once, in my positive review of the arc. So, I don't think I've "complained" and I have zero interest in arguing over the validity of such opinions...
However, I thought I may as well explain my reasons for not enjoying exemp'ing so much.

It has zero to do with difficulty (especially not in this arc. I had no problem whatsoever, so far).

It's somewhat a matter of comfort/familiarity with a general strategy with a given character and their powerset and their advanced stage.
e.g. Electric-Knight, at 50, locks Bosses down with Static Bolt and Tesla Cage (and Shocking Grasp too). He saps all enemies' endurance with Short Circuit AND Power Sink.
When he's level 20... I can't do that fun stuff. I really have no options, but to blast and brawl! Not that that isn't fun, but I like my options!

    It's also a matter of role-play/iconic familiarity.
Electric-Knight has such and such powers. When he doesn't... he doesn't feel quite right.

Hehe, it is not a big deal, but it is just a matter of preference for myself.
I know my wife is very much the same way.
We like having our characters as they are, not as they are exemp'd and/or as they were, hehe.
Anyway... None of this is meant as a complaint. I just thought you (and/or others) may find it interesting.

I can adapt. I can live. I can even have fun doing it sometimes! However, I generally prefer not to!

Difficulty has nothing to do with it.
Hehe, this is also true for me!

They were very clear about that as one can tell by Incarnates never being mentioned on the box.

They have changed the unlock feature for Incarnates from purchasing Going Rogue (and being a subscriber) to just being a subscriber.

Yep, yep! I was only just realizing that aspect of it when I was thinking out-loud (so to speak) in another thread.

The whole GR unlocks the Incarnate Content thing always seemed slightly odd to me. I was fine with it, but something seemed a little off about it. Now I can see why.

Again, I have zero problem with any of it and I don't think they did anything wrong (other than, as you mentioned, slightly poorly worded mentioning to the masses, some of whom have completely flubbed in their interpretation).

I do, however, believe that "unlock" and "part of" really make zero difference, as far as I am concerned. I don't see expansions as one-time box purchases. Instead, it is simply ongoing access to anything under that new umbrella.
That, too, makes zero difference on how things should be handled regarding the Incarnate system and "Freedom".
I honestly don't get how anyone can think that all of this should be available to Premiums... Frankly, I am unconvinced that they haven't already offered too much (not sure... not calling doom... I just have to wonder if more people will go premium than expected... I am not planning to, for whatever that is worth).
Okay, I believe I have rambled on...

Anyway, at least we all seem to agree on the main issue here (shhh, don't tell anyone else!).
  4. From what I understand, they were planning the new business model before Going Rogue was released.
Therefore, they knew full well not to include the Incarnate System on the box and such.
There's nothing wrong with that at all. It's just somewhat funny to me (given people pointing to the retail box as evidence that the system you had to buy that box for wasn't part of that expansion).

If you choose to move to the alternative model you do so knowing it operates under different terms and conditions - and nobody forces you to make that switch (and you can switch right back if you dislike the new option).
    ...
I find this extremely well said.

    Just for the record...
I don't believe there is a single thing wrong with keeping the Incarnate System to VIP only.
And I firmly believe that the Incarnate System was part of Going Rogue.
Both of those opinions coexist very peacefully.

I am also well aware of the history and dates (that sounds snarky/feisty, but it is not meant that way in the slightest! Read it again with an agreeing, friendly voice!), but yeah... it is a matter of semantics.

Accessing any of the Incarnate content required Going Rogue. Going Rogue was not a momentary experience. It is a continuing, ongoing expansion and the incarnate system fell under its umbrella.

Again, under the new hybrid business model... there is zero wrong with dividing things up however they wish, but the incarnate system was indeed a part of Going Rogue. Just as the First Ward zone would likely be, if Going Rogue hadn't been added freely to any subscription (which is a nice thing).

EDIT: Just wanted to finish that off a bit better and a bit friendlier...
It's all good, as far as I am concerned and I certainly don't want to have any argument about it in this thread (I see now that it is a highly contested debate elsewhere, hehe).
  7. Ah, right... not the two slots.

Anyway, I don't want to cause confusion in this thread, as the answers have been given and all is good there...

    About this:

I have zero problem with the Incarnate System being VIP only. It is a non issue.
However, the system was absolutely tied to Going Rogue and no retcon and revisionist history is going to change that. Not sure why you worded it that way, but you had to have Going Rogue for that system and that was always the case.
I know you know this, so I don't understand why you'd word it like that.
  8. EDIT: beaten by better answers!

I'm pretty sure that it would all apply. I can't see how it wouldn't (but since I'm not 100% positive, I don't want to mislead anyone).
Plus, that version includes the costume pieces, auras and emotes (which are nice, in my opinion).

But yeah... if you buy the box and apply it... it's yours. I don't think they would/are going to pull anything against all of the retail boxes still out there.

Whether he does it now or later, that should give him the month of play and all the goodies.

Hope I'm not wrong about that!

  14. Oh, and thanks again to the team over there for running the ustream.

I hope Posi and Zwill make it out to NY for the con!
  15. How could anyone who's watched Zwill for as long as he's been here - find it hard to believe that he'd miss such a thing as VEAT genders?

And I say that lovingly, Zwill!

Sheesh... never admit to not knowing something!! It will prove your complete unworth!!

Thanks again, again, again, again, again, again, Von Krieger!

And shame on you, Zwill, for NOT mentioning VK's transcription during the ustream!!!

Exactly! That and/or it is the actual interpretation of what your character said (either or).
I view the dialog like that a lot, myself. All of those "whatever, let's kill this punk" lines are vastly re-worded for my different villains, hehe (Although, it seems that most of the villain dialog options match Super-Jerk pretty well...).

    Also, great movie reference!
  17. I've mostly skimmed through the replies, but...
I didn't see any jokes about SAM being MUTE!?!?!
    Too obvious?

    Hats off to you, Sam...

In all seriousness (well, as serious as one can be about such a subject), since you're asking more about contacts and their content, I see this two ways...

    1) I would most likely just ignore the game writing/speaking for my character... click the options without thinking (for a second) that my character said a word. I basically do that already. I generally rewrite everything in my own head as I go through it in these games. Sometimes things work well, sometimes they don't... often times I tweak them, regardless, to work much better.
So, just lock your mind around that concept. And don't let any of those little lines of dialog register. Silently click accept and imagine that your character just learned the info or didn't respond or whatever you think works best (I think that, most of the time, my characters learn things through their own senses, detective work or happenstance, as opposed to learning it from this contact mission giver person NPC thing).

    2) Go for this really hardcore video game approach where you scout out the interaction options (maybe pour through paragonwiki), walk away from any mission that involves dialog options that go beyond your preference... and really stick to this approach as some sort of challenge.

1 may allow you to relax, enjoy, have fun and explore that side of role-playing and using your mind to reshape what exists and craft it into what you like more.

2 is more of an out-of-character challenge upon the player. It could prove to be nearly impossible (short of street sweeping) and/or unfun, as you might get upset when you're enjoying an arc, when it suddenly writes your character as saying something.

My choice would be number 1 (with some attempts to try and see if method 2 could work at all), but I am a role-player, so that is more akin to how I play (solo and/or with other people... although, obviously, I don't rewrite my interactions with other role-players, haha).

Also... as a bit of practice Sam...
I'd suggest trying out the mute thing on the forums...

    Just kidding, sir!!

Oh, and that is the only path I've done, so far, in the villain arc, hehe.
I didn't get around to running it a second time redside yet, like I had planned to.

The character I was playing will often make use of others and leave it to the last moment to figure out if he's really going to double-cross or triple-cross or whatever. Seemed like the right choice!
  20. I'd enjoy the arc a bit more with a few panels during the load-in and I definitely think it'd make it a better sell.

I agree with and share the opinions expressed by my Electric kin above.
  21. Electric-Knight

    Remember when...

    I still like the idea.
Just for the fun of discussion... I'd say it'd be cool if you could select an archenemy for your character.
You could leave it blank/default... and get the Rogue Gallery/Or-Whatever-The-Devs-Determine enemy instead.
Or, you enter your own archenemy character's name and costume and powers, just like a custom AE enemy (hopefully with power customization).

Whether it is pie in the sky stuff or not... I think it is a good idea. You never know what may happen eventually.

Indeed, the AE is a great way to create these sorts of possibilities.
I think, maybe, the answer is in improving and expanding the AE (in fact... overcoming the "AE" aspect of it and focusing more on the Mission Architect outside of the AE building. I think that is a big aspect of that system's failure. It feels far too cut off from the rest of the game...).

    I remember!
  22. As per this announcement:
Where they state that tomorrow's downtime will begin at 3:30 AM PST (5:30AM at the location of the servers, I think)...
And some of the previous planned maintenance downtimes had been shifted earlier than usual as well...

I thought that the team over there deserved some credit and kudos for adjusting the hours so much - obviously to do their best to avoid negatively impacting certain time-zones' prime time hours as much as possible, as they continue to upgrade the new hardware.

No one likes the down time (except for those lazy hamsters) - Not the players and not the developers, staff, nor the company as a whole.

Hopefully, the new hardware is going to make all of our game experiences better, in the long run.

Regardless, I think it is great that they've been moving the schedule around to make things better than otherwise.

So, hats, helmets, scalps, skulls (and whatever equivalent attributed to your species' culture) off to the team for adjusting their schedules as they work to make the magic happen that allows us to play this game.

    P.S.
I accept monetary donations for my politeness.

  23. First, I didn't know we could go to the echo that way, neat...

Secondly... good grief... While I'm pretty sure it is the beacon that is the problem...
    It could be either or...

Light bulbs and sockets are nothing like the coding that makes these virtual objects.

Silly nitpick and continued insistence is silly plus something else.

I suppose I should possibly explain...
It is just as possible that the arcane teleporter has a missing/messed-up bit of coding that would normally enable it to read that specific beacon correctly. See? It is possible.
