Hmm, I'm posting this not to be argumentative, but just to voice my opinion...
It'd actually make me quite happy to still have missions that direct the player to old Dark Astoria.
And, since these would come at lower levels, it would make sense via the timeline by levels scenario the game roughly (occasionally) attempts to follow.
I'm not sure that this is a horrendous blow to immersion.
However, it could indeed be a mistake.
Certainly the Rogues being blocked from getting there is a mistake/bad-issue. -
Yeah, as much as I frequent here and keep myself informed of things about the game, I messed up on this one as well.
I remember thinking it might have been limited... and, while it was still up for sale, I checked at the in-game store to see if it mentioned this... and I didn't see anything about it (So, I thought I was remembering incorrectly and that it wasn't limited). I don't know if there was text stating it was a limited offer and I missed it or what.
Regardless... I didn't get it. And then, more recently, I had an idea I was thinking about trying and... the pack was gone.
I suppose it is possible that they will make the roman pieces available again without the cupid's bow (which is really the only "seasonal" aspect of the pack they were selling). -
Quote:Ah. See, now that makes sense. The 'Moon' is in fact a large paper disc with the moon-like image painted on, in low earth orbit. It has been there since the real thing was destroyed in an alien invasion in 1973. Its purpose is to allow all the heroes who have moon-related powers to keep fighting crime.
It is not really a secret and the transparency is fairly obvious, but no one mentions it out of consideration for the previously mentioned supers.
My sentiments, exactly! -
Very cool!
I like... everything about it! I was going to point out the poses... and then the setup... and then the water... But yeah... everything.
And...
Quote:That is the only way to create!!...Something about this mental image had me painting nonstop like a woman possessed and it may be the best thing I've ever made.
Very nice! Tap into that demon more often...
EDIT:
Oh, wow, looks even better on DA. The one in the post is a bit blurred/compressed. Very very nice, Flashpoint. -
Awww
And, specifically...
Quote:Absolutely!...
Sometimes I think the time it took us to get to know each other in the first place created a powerful understanding and bond.
...
While love can definitely hit us hard very quickly, building and building upon an existing friendship is simply amazing. My wife and I were friends for a while before things opened up into our deeper feelings (even though we both noticed the feelings). It's certainly a good thing to start that way.
And... getting to know each other online can be great. Through honest and deep conversations, you end up getting to know (and love) someone from the inside out. That can happen every which way, of course, but it's almost mandatory through long distance.
Anyway, congratulations from me again! -
Huh, I half assumed that you could make a new choice after doing a full respec... That's not the case?
I really don't use those pets (actually, haven't even chosen one on any characters, hah...), so I had no idea they wouldn't respec through a respec. -
Very nice post.
I only just discovered, myself, that the Arachnos symbol cannot be removed (or recolored to, at least, lessen its appearance) from the Crab backpack.
I was rather surprised since we can change alignments with them and all.
I'm all for these adjustments/options. -
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
I keed, I keed!!
Congratulations! My wife and I play CoH together as well. We were together beforehand, but I've met most of my mistresses through CoH!!
I'm keeding again!!!
Haha, enjoy!! -

She wasn't a SHE... she's a Statesman!!
Shadowmoka, you've said it twice now, I don't understand how/why you feel like pop culture killed the scene and twist in Star Wars.
I suppose only if you let pop culture ruin things for you? I'm not sure I understand! -
Quote:Hahaha. That's okay. When you are dead, the moon ceases to move.oh, it's always see through! I just happened to get a nice big screenshot in DA instead of another zone.
I have to confess I have no idea what direction the moon moves in, which is probably sign 1 I'm going to die in the wilderness.
Also, I like your opening words in the OP.
Hmm... you may be on to something here.
It is possible it has just had an intangibility effect placed on it... But why??

Quote:With a bit of seriousness...Because NCsoft totally didn't do everything short of plasting it on our bedroom walls for about 3 months. Let's not forget countless upon countless of threads that still pop up about this with no spoiler tags. This is the CoH equivalent of Darth Vader being Luke's father.
While you may be correct with that comparison, right now it'd still be as though it is 1980 and a lot of people still haven't gone to see Empire Strikes Back yet.
Also, there's always going to be someone who doesn't know yet. -
Dude, you don't remember much about last night, do you.
Hahahaha... "That sounds like bum!".
Humor aside (for a brief moment), I don't have any problems with the picture (Although, if I was Statesman's girlfriend, it'd be a completely different story - b'dum pshhh).
Also, Has anyone theorized that there is a knock against Emmert involved here?
*runs away* -
I'd say he'll only spoil if you don't refrigerate him quickly.
-
I wholeheartedly agree that this would be the key to making the queue used much more widely, thus, making the queue more successful and the LFG system greater.

Quote:I think those are very good suggestions!I bought the Gunslinger set this morning because of the female jackets that were added. Thanks Dink!
I am posting this here because I couldn't find the thread where she announced her additions, and I also had two suggestions related to the pack, the first of which is probably best suited to this thread so Ghost Falcon sees it:
1) I'd like to suggest making the Gunslinger pack a featured item next week, with an updated description to mention the jackets (maybe with a "UPDATED!" in red text). I know several people that skipped the pack because it didn't have a gunslinger outfit for women, and now that it does, hopefully you'll get more sales if you notify people outside of the forums.
2) I'd like to also suggest adding a second Gunslinger option to the Costume Set dropdown in the Character Creator for the ported female parts, for new players to easily find them.
Thanks again to Dink for porting those parts, and thanks GF and others for listening! -
Quote:Sam, you nailed it with this statement right here....
I think the broader issue is that we really do have a game where teaming is so gosh-dang convenient and inexpensive that even a solitary git like me occasionally does it.
...
And another aside...
As much as some of us love playing solo... that does not mean that a lot of us don't like teaming as well! I team sometimes because... (wait for it)... I want to. It's fun to see other characters, it is fun to interact with other people. Forcing soloing, forcing teaming, forcing anything... is not something I'm for.
TonyV, this very game seems to defy your opinions. Without forcing teaming, it has a very strong teaming community.
The Incarnate content didn't change that. It didn't improve it. The only thing it did, along those lines, is make a bunch of people complain about the lack of being able to make incarnate progress with small teams and/or solo.
The teaming and soloing will go on... and on. -
Quote:No reason for you does not mean no reason for anyone. The fact that it takes a long time from the character's perspective in no way means the player should experience that long time. "We travel back to town" has been an adequate method of traveling large distances for the entire history of RPGs, and there is no reason to change that just because we can now look at pixilated cartoons while we say it.

Quote:Indeed! Don't anyone mistake my lack of enjoyment of those games to mean that I think they were not good games.True, it wasn't as massive as some. But the series was a great experience in many respects. Mechanics were far less important to me than the marvelous NPCs (Go for the eyes, Boo!) who had their own lives, and would leave your party if you ticked them off. There was also the fact that actions actually had consequences, unlike a lot of games at that time. I always thought it was hilarious how many posts there used to be on the old Interplay board that ran, "I walked around the town killing people at random and now the stores won't sell to me and guardsmen keep appearing and attacking me! Is this a bug?" Not to mention it has, in my never to be humble opinion, one of the best fanfic communities on the internet.
In a lot of ways, those games probably came close to what I would like.
Possibly so close, but not quite close enough, that they ended up being worse (for me) than if they weren't close at all... if you know what I mean. -
Hrm, I get the feeling that this thread may not exist when I check back, but...
Side-stepping specific games (I've not even tried the one mentioned in the OP), this concept of requiring teams is absolutely the product of over-thinking (into the unthinking territory) and an example of people often don't know what they are talking about, even in fields that they enjoy (and, yes, even writers within such fields).
It's a crazy thing when you see fans/customers asking for things that they don't realize are not what they want. Just because you like music doesn't mean that you can correct Paul McCartney's idea for the bass line of a particular song.
And I think one of the best bits of truth in here is Arcanaville mentioning that we're not all going to agree on what makes a good MMORPG.
For me... While I agree that CoH is the best out there right now, I do miss some elements that were pointed out as failures in other games.
Namely, the original laser-sword mmorpg and its vast exploration, in-depth non-combat pursuits and activities and just overall extreme (insane) level of depths, layers and more depth that has been dubbed too much for 'what these games are supposed to be about'.
I liked it better when these games weren't mega-blockbuster, hit-it-big or panic, keep-it-simple, standardized, theme-parked, static adventures of what you're supposed to do... as opposed to, 'This is the world, son... it's big... it's vast... it's dangerous... it's tough... it's complicated... take your time... enjoy the world... there's more and more for you to learn... over time'.
Or, simply put... the difference between a game and a virtual world.
CoH has a nice amount of both. And I like that fine. I'm very happy it has the right elements, for me, to make it feel like a bit of a world with a really fun game.
I do miss my big damn virtual world that also had several in-depth games within it... although, I should visit the emu...
Hehe, anyway...
I may have failed to side-step specifics...
Hopefully that all made some bit of sense... it's been a long day! -
