  1. Yeah, I am inclined to believe there's something about the Praetorean content from 1-20 and, quite likely, the Going Rogue Side-Switching that could be a large factor in this change.
I can't say I see any reason why that would have to lead to this change, but I also don't see it as a bad change.
It is a bit extreme (From 50 to 20), but I have zero problems with it and unless it proves to cause some sort of problems in action, I couldn't care less about it being rewarded earlier for other people.

Hehe, I liked the comment in this thread about each time someone unlocks an EAT at level 20, a level 50 loses their EAT. Haha!

I'd say this is all either due to some game-mechanics involving Praetorea and/or Side-Switching or just maybe an attempt to streamline things along side those upcoming features.

Or... It is still possible that they just wanted to make the change!
Either way... I trust this team.

And... PahLEASE... This is nothing like SWG Jedi... and not even anything remotely like the NGE, so just stop that now please.
    *takes anti SOE anxiety pills*

(I don't really take pills... I do take large mallets to SOE employee skulls, but... but that's a different story)
  2. I'd imagine the name change would be the same... but I do not know! (Easy to find out right now with the free server transfers, if you wanted to)

You can leave out the space after "The"...
Instead of The Electric-Knight, the game will accept TheElectric-Knight.

However, that's not necessarily desirable nor great looking.
Just figured I'd throw it out there as it may work for some people in some cases.

It is kind of a shame that the "The" is basically never seen by anyone (The title just doesn't really scream to anyone to notice it as much as if it were actually in the name itself... mainly, because, as you said, it is not in the chat).
  3. "I knew I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque..." *grumble grumble mutter* "Now, if I can just break the sound barrier, maybe no one will be able to hear me SCREAM!!"

  4. I have the ATI Radeon 3850HD AGP card on Win XP

So, I grab the 9_12 CCC download (Although, I have the 9_11 download, [which I never upgraded to] as well, in case 9_12 is no good for me right now)...
I remove/uninstall and delete all the existing legacy ATI files...
    I install the 9_12 package...
    And it just doesn't stick.
Windows tells me it found new hardware (My video card)... and wants me to run the software install that came with it (Which loads up the 8_4 drivers).

    Comedy ensues...
My life flashes before my eyes...
I spend hours dancing around in this circle of madness.

I do searching... find mentions of needed hotfixes... links don't work... Not sure what I need to do...
    Sanity: gone
    Headaches: full on
    ATI: killer of sweet kittens

I'm running on lack of sleep...
    Lack of sustenance...
And I am holding very heavy hammers above my pc, ready to fix it how master fixes everything...

    Help?

  5. If end game is somehow tied to crazy weirdos (like me) having fun in ways that really doesn't include significant in-game rewards...
Would that be a great thing? Bad thing? Same as we have it now?

Just a quick thought that passed through my head after reading the last couple of responses about possible bad/good of end-game content.

Does content mean something to shoot for... or just something more to do while logged in?
Obviously the idea is to provide fun (And we know this Team has been focused on that core aspect firstly).
Is it still fun enough if the rewards are not things people feel they need to go out and get because they don't make their character better/richer?

Me... I'd like to see more content for 50s simply by allowing radioscanner and newspaper missions in any zone. Not a huge thing, nor huge amount of interesting content, I know.
I'd like to see endless missions available from Portal Corps for 50s.

I mean... the AE really does answer a lot of this type of content, so maybe it isn't necessary to shoot for.

Maybe the content is more about those expanded enhancements we've heard mention of in the past.

As for myself... I am one of those players that would love content like the save the kitten from the tree and rescue people from fires events, or conversely, tie the damsel to the railroad track and set buildings on fire...

    Just simply added content.

Now... a Mooon Base and space areas and more Monster Isle type good stuff and... and... I don't know. That would all be terrific and I imagine I'd enjoy that too!

I just like Hey, that's fun! Stuff more than the Hey, I want to level my character and start farming so I can take part in this new content that will make my character 3.7% better than it was!

    That is just me though.

And I didn't have a lot of sleep last night, so I may be posting this ramble somewhat oddly (even for me).

    Haha... Because he's a hoser?

    In all seriousness...
Is this a possible hint towards what will be in the Mutant Super Booster Pack??
Can we be Fleshy-Headed Mutants whom radiation has made an enemy to civilization??

Also... Dear, Lead Designer Miss WW,

I found a dead mouse in my CoH.
That means you owe me a free subscription, eh?

I think adding in one or both of those changes would probably solve most of the problems mentioned here, with the second change being the best one. Decoupling the group level completely from the group leader would allow someone who was running a lower level character but felt comfortable managing to group continue to do so without borking up the level for the rest of the group. Obviously the default would be to assign both stars to the same person, leaving things working the way they are now unless you want to change it.
    I absolutely agree.
When they first announced the SSK, I thought they might do something like your 2nd suggestion.
I really think that would be great.
Leading a team and being the highest level are definitely not synonymous.
Don't get me wrong... I love the SSK and am so very happy that they put it in (I really thought they would/should after the way AE teams worked).
I think those two suggestions would pretty much complete SSK.

I've wondered about allowing the leader to simply assign the level number for the team (limited to the level ranges of the team)... However, that could cause more headaches for the Devs if they don't want to hand over such Power-Leveling capabilities.

So, yeah... Leader Star and Level Star, please!
  8. Good grief... The negativity...

I'm excited to take on some different twists to the Rikti invasions!

I only hope there will be many more chances for me to catch these!

    Public Apology

    Ah well...
What started with an apology over (apparently) stupid behavior in an attempt to explain that the OP is not a jerk... turned into an example of the OP displaying jerky tendencies.

When Adeon Hawkwood offered help... The OP replies back as a jerk.
Don't claim Adeon, or any number of the people who have a greater grasp of grammar than you, must have some pathetic issue in their lives because they notice poor grammar/punctuation (and actually offer helpful corrections to you). Your reply to having your own grammatical errors pointed out shows some more of your own issues.
Now... you can take this post from a stranger however you want to.

I suppose I could have just asked if you were drinking again.

  10. Too true, Silver Gale!

    Blueside is dead

Can blueside be dead if it was never truly alive?

    ...
  12. Haha...

I just fired out that comment about "being like Sorah" as a random joke/jest. Not knowing a thing about you nor any history of anything with the game or forums.
So, there was zero reputation, opinion nor seriousness behind it (Not that you were assuming that there was. I just wanted to make that clear to anyone and everyone, just in case!). Heehee

    Anyways... Hi!

So, yeah... Just a random shot of humor from me, that was all!

It's funny how often my tendency to do such things with strangers has funny results... Like when I was helping an old friend move out of a place and a few other guys were there helping roommates move out... And when I was introduced to one of them, I said, "Ohhhh... You're that ***hole I've heard all about" while shaking his hand.
I had no idea until afterward... Turns out that there was a slew of problems between my friend and this guy, haha...

So, that provided for some fun tension as the guy thought I was there to knock him out... and it provided a lot of laughs as well.

    Anyways, you sound awesome enough.

Love all, trust a few, do no wrong to others...

Back on topic... I find a lot of people's RP offensive regardless if it is ERP, MRP, WKRP or whatever... bad is bad! I don't mean "Oooh, you're offending my sensitive beliefs or performing criminal activities"... I mean, "That sucks so bad, I'm offended!"
    <.<
    >.>
But hey, we all have our tastes and enjoyment levels. Just like movies and shows and music and whatever... We're not all going to enjoy the same thing.

    *stops typing*
  13. My biggest problem with the D is the music.

I really need to set up Splasher and put something else in there.
  14. Heehee...
    1st, right on Shecky!

2nd Am I a "tard" for not getting into the "morale" debate and suggesting we should have a diner to RP in?

    5th... (3, sir, 3!)

3rd Protect your children, but run the risk of them turning out like Sorah!

*hugs* (Completely innocent platonic hugs, that is)

    Hahaha... So many earth-shattering possibilities!
  16. Just chiming in on one of the side topics here...

Maybe Praetoria will provide a new (Or more than one) spot that only the D really provides right now.

Of course... The RWZ could be used as such a place as well.

I would love to have a diner (Probably better than a little coffee shop).

More to the stuff about the D itself...

All the stuff some people mock ab out the D would (And does, I'm sure) happen elsewhere.
Add in that, yeah, Pocket D is a nightclub... and you have actual immersive reasons for why that spot would be more of a center for it.
From drinking, dancing, seeking romance, seeking sex to whatever else lies beyond (No, not kids and debt)... it matches the real life mindset that one could find these things THERE better than elsewhere (Not saying that real life mindset is right either, haha... but virtual reality follows reality... No matter how poorly perceived that reality may be).

I don't care for the D, because none of my characters (Nor my personal interests in role-playing) have any interest in nightclubs and the things one can do there.

Very rarely... it can be fun to bring a character who is not a social butterfly (And is uncomfortable in such a setting as a nightclub), but (unless it is with friends) that is generally a bit of immersive (fun?) all by yourself as you watch your character behave shyly and eventually leave early.

Also, as usual, everything I've seen ChaosRed say matches my thoughts and feelings... I may not like it, but I'll defend people's right to do it.

That being said... I have more of an issue with society's standards at large about certain things that seem to lead others to be more offended.
Just along the lines of what people deem appropriate regarding the opposite sex, lack of respect, questionable age... The open enjoyment of a very youthful look...
Anyways, I only specified a bit there because I didn't want people to mistake my cryptic comment for some other idea/beliefs they might imagine.

I wish we had more library characters to maintain a hot spot.
No, it wouldn't be, "Hey, Professor Silverback! Wanna dance while we read through these old newspapers to try and figure out a link in these old crimes?"
But there would be a lot of potential for spontaneous role-play between Heroes and/or Villains to do with... ya know... hero and villain stuff.

And, not just at a library...
That's why I think a diner would be great.

A mall could be the best idea.

    Have a diner/restaurant, a bookstore/library, a toy store...

    I'd settle for a diner.
  17. Hahaha!

    Dark... You're turning dark, Dark!

Excellent rhymes and rhythms on those lyric replacements!!
Many great parts, but your fitting in of ragequit may be my favorite!

Okay... so.. Where's the video to this song now?
First we need to record the song...
    Who wants to sing it?
  18. I've never been one to use voice chat in games.
It is a shame when the text dries up and the majority are using voice chat.
It's not a matter of saying anything is wrong with that.
It just doesn't ever seem to match my situation well.
    • I generally don't like hearing people making a ruckus (Based on a lot of the conversations I experience, listening to it while I am playing is possibly even worse than "ruckus"... no offense!)
    • I play late at night and sometimes, even though I have the game sounds on at a good enough level to hear it and all, me speaking could be a bit too loud (Actually, I have a rather loud booming voice, I guess that is the main culprit)
    • The majority of the time, I do play for the immersion aspect above most everything else. While some may think reading and typing can take away from that (And maybe for them this is true), for myself, typing and reading is quick and easy and doesn't deter any immersion, but more importantly the player voices and characters not matching up and such is a funny thing (Not always in a good way)... even more so... I really dislike communicating through a medium that others present in the game cannot hear/see/interact with. I often like to talk in local (Yes, even when on a team!) in public. No... not soap opera Role-Playing that no one else wants to hear about... heehee, I just like to keep open and available for anyone else around. Spontaneity for the win!
All that said... I just felt like typing some here now, apparently... as all of that amounted to less than a hill of beans!

(Well, other than... I am someone who may be around, who doesn't use voice chat [although, I might enjoy talking to some of you some time, just for a bit of fun socialization] and would be slightly disappointed if voice chat was prominent and people left because of that)

Alas, things shall be as they shall be!
  19. I play on Virtue (And sometimes have been somewhat of a regular poster here... but I constantly lurk this forum... does that count?) and I'd love to hook up with you all and have some fun.

I do role-play and love to all the time, but I have my OOC binds and use them when I am not In-Character and all that jazz. (In case any of that means anything to anyone)

    About uniforms:
First off, no harm in raising the idea!
And similar thoughts crossed my mind. However, it seems like the nature of these forums and the group we might have here sort of calls for not having a uniform and instead being completely free with all of our own individual styles of expression.

That being said... Perhaps a themed sub-group of new characters (Plus any pre-existing ones that a player might want to include within it) within the SG...
Like... a group of people that were visiting an art museum and got struck by cosmic beams that granted them new powers (Super simple silly premise there, just as a quick example).
We give them all a uniforms, albeit more like guidelines, colors, things that still can be accessorized and match, but allow for individualization.
Or maybe characters that are art collectors.
Or heroes that all got their powers from some magical pieces of art.
Or characters who are actually creations of some super-powered artist! (And maybe that super-powered artist is actually a super-villain who is now our nemesis)

    *shrugs*

I shall stop thinking aloud now and go back to lurking for a bit ;o)

    Oh... Welcome to Virtue!!!!
  20. Right, Short Circuit has a great benefit without damage coming into play.
Short Circuit plus Power Sink is one of the great choices for an Elec/Elec.

That's the thing... or, at least, my thing about E^3:
You are very versatile. And, to me, to ignore that is sort of losing sight of what makes E^3 so very awesome (Personal opinion, of course).

You Blast from range (Of course)
You Blap up close (The melee attacks of the secondary are truly terrific. You don't have to be a Blapper enthusiast to find Havoc Punch and the like a useful part of your repertoire)
And you Control (In multiple ways! You have your immob [electric fence], which is very helpful in keeping guys off of you in the early levels, Tesla Cage and Shocking Grasp as solid holds [can never say enough about how friggin fantastic Tesla Cage is... Then use it on a boss, run in and tag that boss with Shocking Grasp and whammo, that boss is held!]... then Shocking Bolt is absolutely terrific! You have three powerful holds [Shocking Grasp's damage over time is nothing to sneeze at either], two holds from long range! PLUS you have your area of effect Endurance Drains! Not to mention your nuke. Use your nuke, pop a blue and power sink for a full End bar and finish them all off!]

The E^3 is about options at your disposal... a variety of methods to take out your enemies.

You can shoot blast from range, run in and knock them around, drain them completely or lock them all down to keep them off of you and/or your teammates as you then pick them apart.

Plus... holds and drain make using your melee attacks and your area attacks much more safe.

And I have to repeat this: holds are a greater defense than a small percentage of defense/resistance.

    Anyways... I love, love , love E^3!

I find myself changing up which method I'll use, sometimes on a whim, sometimes based on the enemy, sometimes based on the situation, the team make-up, etc.

I love the hard control of the three holds (If one of them misses on a boss, I still have a third to lock him down with... and the recharge for Tesla and Shocking Bolt are pretty quick).
And, really... the Endurance Drain can easily start off every single encounter. If any pesky enemies are still attacking you or your friends, lock them down with holds.

On a team with a tank not holding aggro to some of the other team members' likings? throw your holds on the enemies breaking rank and attacking you or your fellow squishies.

Did I say I love the versatility?
    Well, I do I do I do!!!
Haha... I hope you enjoy your E^3!!
  21. Glad you're okay!
And glad that the game is helping too!

Also, the keys between the fingers is not a bad idea, I learned that one a while ago.
However, the spray is an excellent idea, Leo.
It's a good thing to have, even if you never use it (Or, especially so, hehe).
Everyone (Who has no intentions of using it for bad purposes) should carry a spray like that.

Not bad if you ever find yourself in the wilderness and caught too close to an angry bear!
  22. And here I thought this was going to be about wishing we were able to change the effects on characters (the spiraling blue for endurance buffs and the like)... Something I could get behind!
Honestly, talk about distracting, costume blocking powers... Empathy has too many that can't be changed: Clear Mind, Fortitude and Adrenaline Boost

I wish we could change those and hope, one day, our dev team will figure out a way to make it possible for customization and the UI to handle more options for those.

Anyways... Yeah, nothing wrong with sharing an opinion, mine just differs from it. I don't mind it. And I love it. I just want more and more and more, hehe.
  23. It's just not appreciated enough while it's there!
I miss my Virtueverse and recent edits searching and random page hitting...

And I have some updates to make, myself!

I just want to throw out another HUGE THANK YOU to the people in charge of and responsible for supplying us with the wonder that is VV!!
  24. I just wanted to say that I had a great time there on Saturday! And thank you to Pum and all the people helping out to run things.
Everything ran really smoothly and excellently!
Everyone in the final seven were really terrific!

I just thought I'd come by for some fun and decided to enter with a costume I recently made and am pretty happy with.
Hehe, I really didn't consider winning anything...
I do know that I plan to run some events and stuff myself on Justice to pass some of the winnings around and promote some more fun.

Anyways, I'm eager to see pics of all the other contestants and the winners of the other categories.
That's the only bummer of entering the contest... I didn't get to run around and look at everyone else being judged... nor did I see the winners of the other categories.

    - Zox'Oculox

    Thanks again!

    *waits patiently for pictures*

    Are they up yet??

  25. *runs in throwing fish around*

I throw the fish away... and it comes back to me!!

Oh... and here's a youtube of a tiger muppet!
