  1. For the semantic argument, I don't think you should say that the Stealth IO "replaces" Cloaking Device. However, it can replace the effect one may seek, depending on their overall build.
    There, is everybody happy?

EDIT: (oops) Do Cloaking Device AND the Stealth IO not add up together?

Also, I often see people talk about the setup times and such for laying mines.
On a team... absolutely, it is an issue.
However, I see people bring it up about solo play... and I have to wonder if the amount of time it takes a /dev to set up an array of trip mines and caltrops and such to take out an Elite Boss without much to do afterward really is any longer than it would be to stand and fight them.

The safety/survivability of using the /devs setup approach is obvious... but the amount of time it takes vs firing attacks long enough to defeat an Elite Boss does not seem entirely apparent to me.

I am not saying people have to love that approach over any other... but I am not convinced (Though I could be proven wrong) that it actually takes longer than a "normal" approach (For an Elite Boss spawn, at least).
EDIT: (Actually, this holds true for all spawns... as it takes far less for regular Bosses and lower to be defeated rather safely and swiftly).
  2. I support this wholeheartedly.

A while back, a discussion on the Virtue Forums lead to some of us explaining why we didn't play much (If ever) in Pocket D... and I suggested a mall area, with book shops, eateries, cafe and a restaurant/bar. Most (In fact, all, I think) of my characters are not the dance club/bar type people.
Some may be a small pub/tavern type.

    Anyways...

I also love the Hellion stick-up idea, haha. That would be fabulous! WarWitch!!! You must! You know you must!! Pretty pretty please!

While I love the small spot with nice window views of the exterior city... I thought I'd through out a possible sacrifice in order to save a bit of work (possibly) and add a bit of feasibility to the idea (possibly... this may actually make it more work, in which case, I'd prefer what the OP suggested), an interior instance shared by all the location/entrances placed throughout the different Paragon City Zones. Like Pocket D and somewhat similar to the Midnighters Club.
    I'd be happy either way!

    And nice mock ups

At least, that was not what I meant at all.

Case in point... If I had abstained from attempting to communicate to you about this... it would have avoided this bit of confusion.

  4. Amazingly, as it appears with an alacritous appraisal, your asinine attempt at addressing an alleged amiss is appallingly acrimonious and absolutely (amid such an abhorrent attack and attempt to acquire an array of allies and allegiances for your aberrant angle) asserts an anemic academic acquisition and an apparent, atypical appreciation for an addled aesthetic that admits an utter apathy towards astuteness... An absolute abomination.

As to your abundantly antagonistic allegations that the adored assembly of artists that were assigned to aesthetically appease our addled and arduous aliveness, alongside our angst-filled and altogether abysmal aspects of our antiquated lives... were somehow amateurish in their attempts... is astonishingly absurd!!

I, as a self-appointed abator, abidingly arbitrate your anecdotal allusions and your anemic appreciation of antiquated academia, and accordingly agree to do so without abridging nor abbreviating nor alluding, but, instead, I amorously admit I act as such adoringly... as to alleviate us all from another articulation of alliteration, I admit, unabashedly, unashamedly and alarmingly unapologetically that... you are an @$$.

Scheduling an outdoor wedding comes with risks of bad weather, but not irony.

Irony is if you had rain during a Clearskies Festival.

I agree. And the last sentence is a good/pithy example.

Although, I do understand your angle, Tony.
You could say that Mental Maiden's example is just simply obvious, while the examples you (the song) present are more subtle... but they're not really subtle in the slightest, are they?
I think most everyone might agree that it is just grades of irony... Not just in obviousness-subtlety... But, really, in quality.

Sure... a 3 dollar bottle of Andre Cold Duck champagne is champagne...
But try selling that to the connoisseur.

And... everyone who is alive is basically an expert in irony, hehe, whether they know it or not.

Really... Is it irony that... To be alive, is simply to die?
We're all at the butt of the joke and I think, most of the times, people like to see a bit more quality in the written/sung/quipped examples of irony for us to chew on.

Then again... that could just be me
(Just shooting out some thoughts... no big deal!)

Zero worries. And I'm not saying this as though you are too predictable, haha... I just fully expected you to be happier with what you already had. And I appreciate and enjoy the point by point explanations.

I truly just felt like messing with it and offering it up and don't mind at all. You never know if one tiny thing might inspire the other person, even if they take it down some other path that is far far from what was suggested.
Regardless, I didn't expect any changes to come from this, but you never know for sure.

So, it's always worth tossing things out there, when it is invited.

I'd respond more about a few of the things you asked about, but I'm pressed for time, so I thought I'd just chime in quickly.

Oh, and yeah, I understood the clothes were supposed to be that tawny animal hide/leather look. I think some deer, antelope type animals tend to turn out that way. And yeah, that's all I meant by the 'earth tones'. I should have just said animal hides, hehe. So, I think you did well on that... I got it, at least

And I hear you, about the chains and shoulder pads. I have actually done that a few times myself. I, too, like that aspect of realism in a lot of my costumes.

About the skirt for loin-cloth-like attire, I actually like to use the slit sided mini. It would be much better if the slits went higher, of course.
But, sometimes, it can work nicely.

    And one last response:

Hehe, I suppose I can understand your confusion on that one.
I offered that for two reasons.
    1) I had already thought of the idea before I read any of your opinions on the animated tail in action. So, the idea was there in my brain and I planned to tell you regardless, hehe. (And yes, I do laugh this often)

    2) It seemed that you were unsure that you really wanted to make your girl have a tail. So, I just thought it was worth a shot in allowing the option to have the tail as a hunter's decorative item/trophy (As opposed to making her have an animal tail sticking out of her).

Honestly, I really doubt that a motionless tail would sell well as that (Too rigid and not hanging, like such a thing would do), but I wouldn't be sure until I tried it.
So, that's why I suggested it, despite you liking the animations, hehe
  10. Alright, I didn't do most of what I sort of expected to do... I figured I would start with your design and see what little changes I might make (Then, I figured I would start from scratch, just for the fun of it... but I never got that far [And had to run out for a bit]).

I mostly just did some color variations... And, since I don't have the mutant pack, I ended up not going very far into the feral/animal realm.

Let me make it clear that I like your costume and am not suggesting you change anything
Make the suggestion for me to go into the costume creator and mess with something... and I'm usually there before you can say "boo".

Anyway, I'll just get to the pictures.

First, I tried to mostly match your costume... And I ended up using some different colors:
    Sample 1 Closeup

    Sample 1

The only real intentional differences were the shoulder armor and the tiara (Actually, I chose the wrong tiara and then, after looking back at yours, decided to leave it just in case)

Next, I wanted to go for two things...

First, I added a bit of a skirt (Think more along the lines of a loin cloth type thing) on top of the pants. I liked this, but I know it might obscure some of the view that you enjoy
Regardless, I figured I would try and combine options for you to see to cut down on how many different pictures I'd be posting

Also, I wanted to try and aim for more of the other world.
    I stayed somewhat subtle though:
    Sample 2 Closeup

    Sample 2

    Sample 2 Action Shot

While I like the earth-tone scheme you have for her, I figured we could try to use colors to make her more other worldly.
I ended up liking the skin tone you used and decided to use alternate colors elsewhere (Especially since the skin color palette is rather limited and your other big girl probably uses one of them).

The hair is an easy target and I thought these shades looked nice on her.
One of the only things I was unsure about on your design were the chains (Not sure if there is a conceptual reason for them... or if you were locked into them... but since I was supposed to throw some changes at you, this was one of them). -Oh, I also changed her top for this one... thought it worked for this approach-
I thought maybe some piece of her home world could go there... this being a piece of odd-colored vegetation.
Regardless of the color, it adds a bit more of the tribal element, which steel chains don't really... and possibly provides a touch of femininity without losing any strength or toughness (In my opinion, of course).

I changed the facial markings to bright blue-purple spots, going with that color theme to represent her home world.
The tiara's colors also were changed to match these...

And then the skirt has animal stripes in the similar shade.
The skirt could easily have the dark brown stripes instead (That's what I started with).

-Also... I had used the default mini skirt blend option with a very subtle darker shade and it looked nice... the stripes may not be best *shrugs* For some reason, I did not grab a pic of that-

The whole costume was darkened a bit, as I just thought the mixing of (the new) colors worked better this way.

When I see her, I think more of an other worldly amazon with those purples and such.

You could go further with it and ditch our normal earth tones all together... but, I sort of thought that base helped to relate her to the rough and tumble, tribal/barbarian sort more than if I went with all alien world colors.

The canine tail could be worked in with any of these... either as an animated one or a decorative piece hanging off the belt.

Regardless... I have no anticipation of you going with anything I offered up and am completely happy if you stick with exactly what you have.

    Whatever works for your fun
  11. Hehe, don't worry about bringing this stuff up, Sam
I understand and enjoy seeing (And sometimes possibly taking a part in) the process.

Hmm... It's funny, when she is just standing there, I don't care for the large gloves so much. However, when holding the axe it looks terrific. All things considered, I think you found your answer on that question. I just wish you could have large handed gloves without the bulky flare (If you could call it a flare).

As for the ears and tail...
    1) You seem to have worked for a while to have her look the way it is... and I mentioned this because...
    2) If I were to go with the ears and tail, I would work more on her entire look to better fit them. It may just be small tweaks, but, as is, they look more to be added on after the fact than incorporated into her look.

The one thing that may be good (Although, based on your problems with the tail that you've since mentioned... and the fact that the only pros you mentioned for having the tail were that you liked the animation) is to have that tail in its inanimate form (Is there one? I haven't gotten the Mutant Pack yet).
Attach a tail more as a decoration hanging from her costume.
The unfortunate thing is, I doubt that would work well enough to my (never mind your) liking.
The way it sticks out and such, I don't know that it would work as a hanging decoration.
    However, it might.

But yeah... If you were to go with a less-human looking character... I would suggest going a bit farther than what you've shown thus far.

I am likely about to go into the costume creator to mess around with this right now. I'm not sure though, that I'll have anything to offer you afterward.
Probably just a completely different interpretation of the idea, but nothing that you would want to use. Of course, you never know what may come of it.

    Noble Savage

First off, I think Noble Savage is a great looking character! Screams for more info though!!
I had asked in another thread...
I was curious if Noble Savage is one of the characters that was nearly cut from Going Rogue, until you all found a way to get him back in?

You said you really loved those particular characters and were excited to be able to fit them back in... If your new namesake is one of them... that's all sorts of cool

    Either way... *thumbs up*

And we're extremely jealous of all your asymmetrical parts... but it's okay... we understand (mostly)
  13. Yay! Congrats!
To be honest, that was my choice as well
  14. You missed it??
Noble Savage chose to go to Miami!

Hey David... Is Noble Savage one of the character that you fell in love with during the creation process and then managed to work him back into Going Rogue, after he'd been cut?
If so... that's a great character for you to have chosen!
Regardless, he looks pretty damn cool.

By the looks of him... some sort of possible mutant that was experimented on and freed.

I'm imagining his counterpart... Savage Noble
A very clean looking, well-to-do, charismatic, evil, pompous jerk.

Of course... I could be wrong on all these accounts...

Oh... And... again... isn't that one picture a possible reveal of a new (highly requested) emote??
    Hmmmm?? Hmmm???

C'mon peoples... get with the program!!

    What you missed:
    • Noble Savage looks awesome with tons of asymmetrical designs (How we envy you!)
    • Shortly after 9PM on Thursday, Noble Save opted to leave for Miami
    • Animated stance shows a possible facepalm emote
    • You can send as much money as you like to Electric-Knight's paypal account
    • And lastly, a spot right behind your left ear...

Now, my computer is all super nifty and all that, but I don't imagine I'm the only person who had problems with the market interface, and I doubt everyone who has those problems has had them upgrade so readily.
Oh, but that was the market interface.
My wife and I both absolutely suffered from that as well. In fact, heh, I stopped using the market altogether for a good while (Or bad while, so to speak) simply because I did not want to have to deal with the never loading, crashing, that was guaranteed to happen when opening the screen (And possibly each next attempt). It was a sure 15 minute investment of time just to possibly start using the market... no thanks!

But yeah... I can't say pets impacted that at all, for us.
Whether they count in that hopeful every little bit helps is possible though.

I think all we need is an exorcist for the annoying demons.
Maybe a temporary power you can get from a trial.

[EXORCISM] - You have the power to banish demons back to their own realm. This can only be used on other players' pets and will remove one recipe from your inventory for each pet you banish. Recipes will be removed in order of highest price.
  17. Honestly, I haven't seen anyone claim that it bogs down their computer. I've only seen it raised as a possibility for other hypothetical people.
No one in this thread, at least.

I do have an SG mate who would get too bogged down by full teams, never mind MMs (he has, since, upgraded though).

Again this isn't anything I actually have strong feelings about... And my post about "big boy/girl pants" was entirely in jest... Despite the negative rep it got, haha. Ooh, careful what you say... anonymous comments may come your way Good thing I am wearing my big boy pants, heehee

Anyways... Yeah, some people have really low end systems (And/Or crank their settings up too high for good performance)... But a few pets really don't add up to alot. Formerly being one of them, people with low end systems know they have to do what they can to get by and that burden is on them.
Sure... If I can help... I am happy to (So long as it doesn't drastically cut into my reasonable fun, of course). The requests do need to be somewhat reasonable though... and I am not convinced this is one of them (I'd be happy to admit otherwise though, if someone knows better).

EDIT: Still... My only issue with pets at the BM are simply being in the way. Which is why I always position them to either be far away or, at the very least, not near the NPCs we need to click.

It may very well not... but you could see how it could.
I think that would require the Shard to be a Co-Op zone though (To do it right) and... no announcement of that. I sure do hope that the Shard is opened to villains some day though.

  21. I love you guys!!
Always have a little (big) surprise for us... You cool bastages!

The new CoP could be really interesting.
I think it is great to have some different forms of fun to be had... and a potential (up to) 24 person team trial could be a lot of fun and a change of pace.
It could very well work out to be sort of like the Rikti Mother Ship Raids and the Hamidon Raid and such... and (While some may not like that) I think that is a cool thing.
Always add different options and outlets for differing brands of fun.

The Tip Missions sound like a nice addition. I don't even care that they can lead to morality missions (I mean, that is great too, but even without, it's nice to see). I also took the "perhaps... possibly" to mean exactly what it means, so no re-wording needed as far as I am concerned.

    Great job, Team!

  24. Re: Capes at 1st Level

Here are the two sides (As far as I can see them):

Reasons Against Giving Capes upon Creation
    • Possible Engine/Performance Factor - I am not sure if this holds true or not. If it does... this wins and is the end of the discussion (Until/unless it can be overcome). If not... I'm not sure (my own opinion) there is any good reason left to hold capes off until 20.
    • Honoring Hero1 - The game story was used to explain the delay of allowing new heroes their capes by saying it was something that needed to be earned, through honor and bravery, due to Hero1's sacrifice. (Whether or not this should be held to after the events that have taken place and/or with all of the rule's exceptions (See below)... I'm not sure)
    • Level 20 Carrot/Reward for the existing level 20 Mission
Reasons For Giving Capes Upon Creation
    • Exceptions Galore - There are plenty of alternate cape options that break the first two opposing bullet points. Valkyrie Cape, Shoulder Capes and High Collar Capes all are available at level 1 (If you have the packs and/or the veteran reward). Shoulder Capes are debatable, but Valkyrie and High Collared capes are... CAPES. So, if the technical problems exist, they must rely on a lower number of people using those options than if normal capes were allowed (Not sure that holds true). More so... If the idea was to honor Hero1, these capes (They are indeed capes) fly in the face of that and should be held off to level 20 as well. The Cape of the Four Winds is part of a purchased bonus, but it doesn't become available until level 20. No idea why Valkyrie and High Collared ones are. Consistency (Either way) should be brought to this, in my opinion.
    • Capes are both a staple and just a piece of clothing (And zero good reason for Villains to not use them any time they like) - If there's no technical issue (performance hit, game engine explodes), why not?
    • Level 20 Reward - Has been made unlocking EATs. Maybe this was done with some consideration to opening up capes at level 1. We used to try and think of replacement unlocks for level 20, but they went and gave level 20 EATs. Maybe that's all we need now. One idea was patriotic/flag capes for unlocking at level 20 (As that is the sort of cape that Hero1 wore).
    • Bad Introduction - New players coming in and seeing that there are no standard/normal capes for their character can be a negative start for them. Not only does it regularly inspire that age old video game reaction, "WHAT?? That's so stupid!!" it also (incorrectly) suggests that City Of Heroes is somewhat of a led-by-the-carrot style of game. Want a cape to finish off your character's look... earn it! For such a great, open, casual-friendly and unique game, I (personally) think this is a bad introduction.

I'd love to hear an official response on why capes should be left at unlocking at level 20.

For whatever it is worth... I don't have any plans for any new characters that use capes and all my cape users are well beyond 20... So, this isn't some personal issue. These are just my own observations.
I happen to think allowing capes at level one, across the board, would be good for new customers. I've not met many (If any) new players that think not being able to use a cape when creating their character was a good thing.
I've met many that thought it was a stupid thing.
I just hate seeing this game that I love have that first impression. It's not a grindfest. That introduction suggests it is, somewhat (To an, otherwise, clueless player).

And, for the record... I don't think this is some huge negative abomination that ruins this game and spells dooooom for us all.
I just thought I'd try and help the discussion along. (Probably should make this a separate thread...)
