Perhaps it is just your current mood swing, mon capitan?

I either get them before running (Not really that hard to do, if you switch your target), wait for them to come back (As GG mentions) or just find them later on (In a mission).

Hehe, not saying you're wrong to hate it though. I could stand to see it a little less, sure. It still doesn't bother me though.
Not sure why... *chugs some more Enriche*
  3. As to the review itself... Well, nothing this person might think about just about anything would matter to me. Seemed more like whatever this guy thinks, the counter might very well be more likely to be true (Or, at least, my tastes might be the opposite).

The changing settings before entering the game is a HUGE issue though. I hadn't really thought about it for new players. That's really a bad impression to begin with.

Other than that... this guy was a complete git and didn't have a clue... Then again, that is probably true for the majority of potential customers so... I suppose it holds some interest in his accounts (minus the fact that he's some git that has this job... for some reason... who knows how/why).

Still... I thought his comments (Which, should have held a lot more weight in his overall review of them game) about how many moves and powers and how much action you get from this game at just level 10 were spot on and one of the greatest elements of this game.
How he just passes that off... you'll have to ask a moron for that answer, I suppose.

Yeah... seemed like a fool trying to look cool by being a jerk about some "game or whatever, meh". That sort of attitude seems to pass for cool in some circles.
Any time you try and make such a critical ascertainment based entirely on just a tiny bit of playing as a newcomer... you're proving yourself rather foolish. Sure, you can see if you enjoy it or not... But trying to poke fun or criticize it based on a few immediate things without learning more (The mission teleporter, saying there's nothing to do in the zones without visiting over 75% of the game's zones, downplaying the vast amounts of customization by hitting random a few times) just prove that you're not being realistic in giving the game a chance.
He was clearly just looking for an angle to sell and to promote his own gimmick.

So, yeah... I would imagine some people might see this rather poor review (If anyone actually watches it) and think differently than the reviewer, and actually find it interesting enough to try out... despite his overall impression.

Seriously, that's some lowbrow review right there.

Well, you tell them that they get no cookies until they do!!

    (That ought to fix them!!)
  5. Just a really quick thing...

Am I really the only player that doesn't mind mobs running away (And no, not just on my zappy zappy blaster)?

Seriously... One of my favorite early/low-level newbie moments was on my scrapper in Atlas Park chasing down that Hellion that tried to run away... Chasing him up the fire escape, onto a roof... onto another roof... until finally slamming him hard to the ground.

Me... I love some of the fresh new adventures that spawn from things like the Physics stuff and them running away.
I'm just surprised to see nearly everyone say how it is a major flaw within the game.
If I was about to get my butt whooped by some Super... I might try and run too... And it can lead to some fun now and then.
(Also, I like watching some foolish players chase them right into several other mobs, haha)
Maybe we can all play the Ducks In A Barrel MMO coming out (Can I mention that on these forums? *smiles sweetly*)!!

  6. That's wild. If it wasn't getting in the way of things you wanted to do, I'd say it was kind of cool, hehe...

Anyway, do not wait. Contact Support through the NCSoft website. File a report.
The few times I've had any issues, they've resolved them in rather short order (They may be particularly busy right now, but I'd bet it still gets handled pretty quickly).

Don't just post here and/or bug it and wait... File a report.

    Best of luck!
  7. Oh!!
PureAmerican, I am only speaking for myself... I appreciate the offer/suggestions, but I am really in this for the role-playing, period.
I really enjoy hopping on and working, fighting, teaming, talking, being-fully-immersed with other players that are all in-character and role-playing.

It's not that I really look for great in-depth plots, stories and that sort of stuff from my play sessions (I like them, but I prefer just simple we're all looking through the eyes of our characters and just going through whatever comes our way and such)... So, all I am saying is that I'm not looking to merge up with people that tolerate role-play, but don't themselves.

However, make no mistake... If you don't interfere in any of that, I'd love to team up some time and have some fun!

I just enjoy being a fully in-character team at the core and as its focus... as opposed to it being secondary or agreeable.

The "RP" part of the thread title and this idea is really paramount... for me.

Like I said though, any night that is agreeable with you and we've got some stuff to fight together, I am certainly not opposed.
Also, I totally understand you wanting to contribute and have an ongoing community within Praetorea for your brand of enjoyment... and I'm sure there's some overlap.

    Hope that made sense.
And again... that's just my angle and thoughts on things.

    Thanks again, everyone!
  8. I meant to come back earlier and post some thoughts to move us ahead... things have been a bit hectic! No worries though!
I'm quite tired at the moment and am going to be short and quick in this post (short and quick compared to how I usually am, at least).

I'm thinking that what we need to do is gather ourselves together as a large (Or however large/small it may be) community of characters that we intend to base within Praetorea for role-playing purposes.
Let's not worry about SGs or anything else (Since we both have to deal with the current limitations and we have to see who shows up, who's into what and how it all shapes up).
I figure that some of us will click better with others and who knows how it'll work out. The biggest thing about hooking up with other players is always whether or not their playtimes, playstyles, likes and dislikes sync up. So, let's not try and force anything more than... We're all going to be Praetoreans and in this gloabal channel and we'll all try and interact... and we'll see from there! (And really... what else do we need? It should be great!)
These are just the thoughts I've come to about it. I'm just another player trying to do this though, so feel free to disagree with me.
I'm really psyched about this. I got to roam around in Praetorea a bit more than I had beforehand and it's beautifully done.
I'm pretty sure I have my Loyalist worked out (Still a few tweaks... trying to decide on my secondary... not positive about Will Power... Considering switching from Scrapper to Brute and taking Energy Aura... Not positive. And I might change his last name... But his looks and personality are figured out).

So, I am not in a rush about this, but I figure that some people may not be as willing to wait it out, so I didn't want to give the impression that this isn't happening or anything (I'm just still trying to get my bearings in Praetorea before I am fully ready).

So... And thanks to Silver Tooth for contacting me, my head was elsewhere, looking at all the shiny stuff ...We should make a global channel and use it to get ourselves together.
I was tossing names around some names for the channel...

    Praetorean Universe
    Praetorean Virtue
    Praetorean RP United
    Praetorean RP
    Praetorean United
    Praetorean Pride

    <.<

And then the question is... Should we make it private and require an invite? (Might be counter productive for getting people started and involved)

Should it be a purely OOC channel for hooking up and working things out?

Should it be an IC channel, somewhat like a SG channel (But then we might need two different ones for Loyalty and Resistance).

And that's the other thing... I think we should be all inclusive as we form, both sides, and then let those in each side gravitate towards each other.

One last thing... I'd like to stay public and use local and global channels for lots of role-playing to encourage more role-play and to be a greater part of the Praetorean zones.
As great as the zones are, seeing characters acting out and speaking in-character makes things even greater (Not just for us, but for others too) and inspires others to do the same.
I know it's a zoo right now (And I'm not foolish enough to think that all the non-role-players are going to go along with us)... But I'd love to see Virtue's Praetorea have some solid IC player characters representing!

I made Praetorea United, but I made it private just in case. I figure we can decide on the name and then I'll open it up and we'll see the fun begin to happen eventually.

We'll collect all the names here and talk more about everything... But for now... I say we just start showing up and we'll get things cooking over time.
I'm a rather patient individual, so, less patient people shouldn't see it as lack of caring or interest!

    Blah blah blah... need sleep!!

    What a project, eh?!?!
It's a thrilling thing to unveil the product of all that hard work and I'm glad it's being received so well... And I'm glad it is so awesome!!
I'm enjoying the heck out of Tip Missions alone, hehe!

Paragon Studios is definitely the leader, in my eyes, in designing original ideas and giving their game and player base a unique brand to truly enjoy.

Several OTHER things - Not released yet, that were promised, or were in the beta. Why are these things not in the game now?
I don't know about the other things (Although, I believe there was one dance that was removed from beta), but the Combat Auras are indeed live (And were yesterday).
A new character does not start out with them, you have to have unlocked auras (Level 30+) and they are all listed under the original aura options. So, the Combat Auras for Fire (As an example) are all under the Fire Aura options.

  13. Thanks for this!
    About Power Pool Customization:
Okay the actual things said are not quite as bad the OP synopsis (Still a bit deflating, but not as bad as it first sounded to me):
    Quote:
Is power customization coming to pool powers?

Positron: We'd like to do it, just looking for the time

    Ghost Falcon: underscore "schedule permitting"....

Castle: We talk about it frequently. It's a lot of work, so...some day.
    Monday August 16, 2010 4:47
    That's not a "no".
And I hope that we can convince them to make that a high enough priority to make the time.

Endgame System/Content and Power Pool Customization would probably be what I'd peg as two top contenders for development time (If I had magic control over WW... which I might... If I can remember the last few lines of that spell... hmmm...)

I know I'm not the only one who's wanted different ways of getting missions/arcs and finding clues and whatnot. I don't see the Tips missions purely as a system for other ends. I see it as a new way of obtaining mission arcs... and that me likes very much!

  15. I hesitated to write/post this, because, ya know... being nice, kind, considerate and thinking of companies that supply us with video games as humans and artists and workers trying their best to pull something special together... Is all really uncool and all...
    But that never stops me.

The team at Paragon Studios has been working on this expansion for some time now and it's got to be exciting and possibly a bit nerve wracking to have it going live now. And I just wanted to wish you all as smooth a launch as possible and I hope for great reactions and much fun for everyone to have and experience (Including yourselves... I hope you can hop on and enjoy your work a little tonight).

I know what it is like to have that big night of unveiling your work for the public and it is a great thrill. And I've just been thinking about that aspect for you all over at Paragon Studio and what a thrill it must be to work on this game and on this particular artistic medium.

I'm sure all your work will bring a ton more of enjoyment to your fans and customers.
So, sincerely, thank you! And best of luck!

Oh... and yeah... I hope I enjoy it too!!

That looks great, Dec. That's the same one EK uses!

    Stances Coming?

Well... A while back BABs did say that these were not stances like some were hoping for and were just emote poses (Like idle1, idel2, crossarms, etc.).

This was in reply to questions when the Devs were hopping online and talking with everyone in Pocket D... I can't even remember when that was or what it was called or anything...
I remember TonyV transcripting the whole event and posting it for all of us.

Of course... Not to raise expectations back up, but... Jay did tell us all that the Resistance Costumes we were shown a glimpse of (With glowing bits) were not for players...

Still, I choose to believe BABs in this case and only expect some emote stances as we've already seen in the game.

I do hope to see idle/toggled stances in this game eventually though.

    We shall see, eh?

So how do you get it to download?
I don't really want to get too derailed talking about this stuff, but there is some content for higher ups in Tip Missions, which lead to Morality Arcs which can lead to rewards for staying true or can move you towards switching sides and exploring the opposite faction's home and eventually all of its content, should you go all the way. Plus there is a high level raid called the Cathedral Of Pain. (Although the CoP is with the free publish and not limited to the expansion)
And I think they are likely going to add more Praetorean stuff for higher levels in the future (No official declaration of that though).

About the download... I think you might need to exit by logging out the long way and then exiting from the sign-in screen... but I am not sure about that.

    Also, there's a place called Studio 55.
Oh, right, I forgot about Studio 55.
I've been so busy, I actually didn't get a chance to log into beta until just recently.
So, I need to do some catching up and exploring before I am fully aware of many of the locations and possibilities.

So, I am thinking I should create a global channel for this. I know some of us are dreadfully close to the limit of global channels if not already at the limit.
We'll figure it out, but I may as well get it up.
I was considering making it invite only, so as to use it like an SG chat... But... having an open OOC global channel for Loyalists and Resistance members alike... Players for playing in Praetorea... might be a good idea.

Like I said... I'm still percolating all of these things and collaborating with anyone and everyone interested.
I'm glad I changed my routine and opened up about it, as it's nice to talk about it with others.

Also, I don't think anything I've suggested is really any grand or original idea. It's really just about forming a tie between us who would enjoy playing out characters persisting in Praetorea... and the only way to do that is to get it started.

We'll start getting to brass tacks and all that in a bit!

Yeah, I'd like to just absorb ourselves in the world of Praetorea and play around in it. develop our characters and interact like it is a stand alone game itself. It's such a rich world, really. I'm thinking 1984, A Brave New World... stuff that Equilibrium was certainly based off of. It's a rather fun concept for Super powers and such.
It's got a bit of a Star Wars sort of Empire and Rebellion as well.

Right, except (And as others mentioned, yay) that we don't really need anything that an SG would bring us.
Not any worries for traveling to many zones. We'll have crafting tables and anything we'll really need (And yes, global emails).
Plus... The way the city is set up, I think there should be several great locations for any type of RP we want. Hopefully, I'm right about that.

No, Praetoria has no AE, but Praetorians do have access to Pocket D so the Winter/Valentines Events would be a good way to level and not have to leave Praetoria. (Might be a little farfetched, but it's the only alternative that I can think of at the moment.)

Well, honestly, I think beyond us just forming an SG of Loyalists... We all, as a community, can work on a great RP base of characters based within Praetorea.
Our interactions may be extremely limited (Depending on degrees of involvement, attitudes and character progression), but we should definitely keep connected OOCly. Even if our interactions only reach third parties in our mutual campaigns. Loyalists may capture a resistance member (NPC, or if someone were willing, a PC [That type of stuff, I am in favor of working things out between the respective players extensively... whether they want to leave it open ended or not is up to those involved, but agreement should be reached either way, well before going ahead)... Things one side does may affect the other side and we could have some great developments from all of that. And we may have some members on both sides who might interact peacefully, for whatever particular reasons may be involved.

So, I say resistance members are more than welcome to chime in here and contribute!

Exactly! If we wanted to, we could join teams of lower characters to do their missions and/or street sweep. I have no problem with that. So long as when we get together and interact with others, we role-play and be those characters doing their jobs and living their lives in Praetorea! Makes sense all around!

    Precisely
Glad to see people interested in this and wanting to make it work.
I'd rather stay in public, do a lot of cleaning up the streets and/or underground and whatnot. We want to show the people of Praetorea that we are maintaining peace and safety for the good of all.
And we want to provide a solid RP presence within Praetorea. Let new characters come and go if they like... but this is our home.

It really is a shame... the more I think of it. Let's hope there becomes a way...

Yeah, as everyone has surely noticed, there aren't very solid rules or anything about any of this (Other than staying in Praetorea).
So, anyone just interested in that aspect, of rooting your character in this cool world that they're giving us to play in, chime in and stay connected and come and play whenever you can.

I just want some quality, immersion and role-play with other people with similar interests and in this new setting.

Whether or not we form an SG or whatever... I do want to focus on the wider element of a deep and role-played community of Praetoreans.

Anyways, I just wanted to reply while I could just now.
I'm very glad to see the interest and I look forward to having the big time fun.

    Keep it coming!
