I thought this was City Of Trenchcoats?
And yeah... I wish I could get these new pieces and weapons when they come out.
I might be able to swing it, if I want to put down a year's sub when it goes live. Not positive that I want to, but that could be interesting, if the math works out.
Can you do a year, then another 6 months, at the same time? Hehe... -
Quote:The only quickchat file that I know of is the one that we make... Is there one we have to digg for in order to see the default info? The quickchat file stored client side has all the authbits for the stuff in that file.
EDIT: I guess this is really one of those asking the bleeding obvious type questions, hehe... (and likely covered somewhere I haven't read yet). My apologies!! -
Quote:Haha, nah... I appreciate the attempt, but I really do not believe they'd add a costume set (never mind three plus weapons plus new energy wings) in as a post 7 year vet reward. Here's a semi-attempt at giving you a silver-lining:
If the set was added to the current Vet Rewards programme - you'd be about 5 years away.
Takes some of the sting out... I hope!
It probably would have been a booster or something.
Blah blah blah, no more whinging from me about it, but I figured I'd at least respond!
Honestly, a little part of me wishes that they'd bump more vets into or close to the Tier 9 status with the conversion.
I just don't see them doing that, because then the longer vets would have less to show for their time.
Ah well.
Positive Disclaimer:
I do love how the vet rewards will reach a point (Tier 9, and I think that takes about three years under the new system) where any and every new reward can be chosen, so nothing will exactly be beyond reach from that point on.
(Also, sorry for the slight hijack! But bugger to you and your falsely claimed "widely available" costume pieces, I say!!) :P -
THANK YOU AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN Von Krieger!!!
Quote:Sir... You had me at "They Live"!!!Many of the moves were inspired from the fight scene from "They Live." -
Quote:Aha! I had a feeling you were using this, but I logged back in a few times thinking I was either missing it or it hadn't updated or some such trickery! They are in the file, however due to an error in the game files they are not actively shown.
(please don't ask how I know this)
I use a modified quickchat menu as discussed in this guide:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=127186
The command for the facepalm emote is "e facepalm". The command for the inactive doublefacepalm is "e doublefacepalm".
I think I might set that up as well.
Thanks!! -
If by "widely accessible" you mean that this 3 year subscriber won't have them for over another year... Okay.
Hehe, yeah, they look wonderful. Which is, indeed, why I am bummed about my conversion into the new Rewards program meaning I'll be a year away.
Blah blah blah... whinge... moan... grumble... It's okay, there are worse things for me to focus on!!
-
Hey, again, I logged in and didn't see the emotes in the quickchat emote list... It's been mentioned by others that they are there.
Color me confused...
If anyone can tell me where they are listed, I will gladly do a facepalm in response to my inability to have figured that out myself.
I really did look through the entire list and every submenu in my quickchat menu though, so I'm not sure what the deal is here.
Thanks for any help! -
Yes.
Quote:Waking in the middle of the night and spending a moment admiring how peaceful and beautiful your girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever looks asleep, smiling, and going back to sleep yourself can be a very heart warming thing.
Breaking in and standing there not so much. In fact the police here in Halifax are after a few guys who are doing just that. Somehow I doubt it would be ok even if they could sparkle in the sun.
It's somewhat of a classic fantasy trope. The protector watching over the young innocent.

Quote:Hmm, I've looked all throughout the quickchat menu and haven't seen them (I have gotten ;facepalm to work, but yeah, doublefacepalm doesn't, nor any variant I have tried thus far). They are in the emotes menu, but doublefacepalm doesn't work.
You say they're in the menu? Where?? Me no see!!
Thanks! -
Quote:HAHAHA...
It's also fun having a tray button setup for his Ion Judgement power for when the mobs get a bit too big......as he calls down the lightning he's saying "NOW WITNESS THE FIREPOWER OF A FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL ION CORE FINAL JUDGEMENT!"
I highly approve! -
Quote:Those are big gloves!!You know what they say about guys with big hands, right, Turg? :-P
Quote:Yeah, maybe I would have been able to apply this code in time...
... except when I tried to log into my NCSoft master account, I ran afoul of your authentication system and some incorrectly formated challenge questions from 7 years ago.
Guess I should have cleared that up with support back when you implemented this system and saw all the forum posts complaining about it.
Gratz to all those who were able to apply the code and got the emote.
So, hopefully, after you get your account log-in info worked out, the code will still work! -

Courtesy of Winterminal!!
Thank you, that did it!! (Don't forget to turn your secure browsing back on afterward!!) -
I've not had any luck at getting the damn promotions page to load...

Quote:Agreed. They have not. I would be inclined to assume and agree with you there, that it'll only be for consumables, and they'll just continue to add other new things to tier 9, but until they tell us, it's speculation.
Quote:Do we get to keep things like costume sets and such? Otherwise locking things like that behind this system then removing the option to get them is a terrible idea!
Hmmm... Yeah, that could actually mean that the costumes will become available sooner or some other way (although, I'm also not going to assume that!).
Regardless, I do not believe that they will vanish from acquirement!!
So, no worries... whatever they do, I'm sure we'll be able to get the goodies when we get there. -
Quote:I'd like to reply to this as well (since it really is a valid discussion point) and just say that I agree and feel the same way.Agreed. My final comment for this line of discussion:
Devs, please don't let this system create a divide between "haves" and "have nots." The old system did not have this problem because beyond a certain point, almost no one cares about it. I understand that you want the new system to be meaningful in terms of rewarding long-term veterans, however there are core features of the game that all VIP players are going to want access to, including costume sets, and gating them in this way is going to cause tension, as it already is with me.
Although, not even so much that "almost no one cares about" the later vet rewards... enough people care about those (some more than about any costumes, I'm sure) that I wouldn't want to belittle their opinions. They're just things of convenience. Special quality of life improvements for the longtime vets.
However, costumes and auras are character defining attributes.
These are things that get people excited and inspired to create characters and/or to modify their existing characters in amazing ways.
And, obviously, it's a completely visual thing... So, costume achievements can seemingly flaunt in the face of the have-nots.
These just seem like extreme rewards. Likely because you really wanted to put something special in there to launch things off.
That has a bit of a negative affect for some.
You probably know that and factored it into your decision making, but there it is. -

Quote:If it's any consolation, I'm near enough to be fully vested & I understand your disappointment. The pics posted of the new costume sets do make them look to be pretty spiffy & thus desirable.
What Snow Globe & PeerlessGirl may be forgetting is that the information available indicates these costume sets will be available for a limited amount of time & then get changed out. No mention so far of if they will ever return outside of that limited time-frame. Some people have stated "cycled" which suggests a return, but IIRC the slides (& thus the devs) actually say [placeholder while I look this up] which implies it could be gone forever outside the limited time-frame. So, those not able to get them immediately may not EVER be able to get them!
Given that, it's TOTALLY understandable that someone for whom costumes is a big part of their enjoyment would be disappointed that these costume sets are AFAWK only available as tier 9 VIP, given what tier 9 VIP means.
I think that the cycling is only for the consumables, but I'm not 100% sure if they explicitly stated that. -
Sorry for the tangent, Jayboh, but I just saw Hulk vs Thor recently...
And I enjoyed that a lot more than I expected.
Not only were the characters well performed, but the fight was something fun.
Somewhat Spoileristic!!!!
Continuously punching someone through a thick mountain is classic! -

Yeah, seriously, let's just keep it all respectful, shan't we?
Quote:And thanks. To be fair, I'd not say that they'd "never" do such a thing. I just don't think it is the type of reward we'd expect at that far down the line. He's stating that SG's belief and reality are not the same. The Devs would never add a full costume set as an 84 month vet reward.
EDIT: From what I've read, EK has even thanked SG for his work so far. It's you that seems to be bringing this thread down with unnecessary rebuttals. Hmmm, ironic...
On to another point... Yeah, that Remote Vault should be another nice bit of convenience! -
Well, "yes and yes" are odd answers compared to what's really happened with the vet system, but whatever, if that's what you believe, that's what you believe.
Anyway, no point in discussing this further.
It is what it is. -
Quote:Really? Do you want to go and throw around "wrongly placed entitlement" to reasonably expressed disappointment in vet rewards for a video game? And yet, if that same stuff was added as 87 and or 90 month vet rewards to the current system you'd be waiting 4-6 years, would have no option to spend money, and then you'd have something to complain about. Under the new system you'll wait a year or two, and/or spend some money (which i think is silly just to get some glowy costume bits, beyond 30 bucks or so). Ideally they won't make it into the market, as they're supposed to be restricted to VIPs (even then, perhaps only on the market FOR VIPs) otherwise they've devalued the tier 9 VIP vet reward. Basically you're just upset because there are new shiny costume bits, and you can't have them right nao.
That's all it boils down to, a sense of (wrongly placed) entitlement.
Come on.
Would you really expect them to put new costume sets into post 84 month vet rewards?
Would people even expect them in 4+ vet year rewards?
The later Vet Rewards have often been cited as having small rewards of convenience and not brand new costume tech (those wings!) and not even full costume sets.
Fine, you want to just say "get over it"... Yeah, there's no other option, but we're allowed to express our feedback about it and you should really think about respecting those who do so respectfully and not treat them like ranting ingrates worthy of being told they have a wrongly placed sense of entitlement.
It's not entitlement. It's a matter of desire. It's a very simple matter of learning about new very fancy stuff that will be available for some and not for others for quite a long stretch of time. End of story. They all lived ridiculously ever after -
It seems to me as though they put in this transfer rate so that we wouldn't have an abundance of tokens to spend on the Tier 9 stuff.
I wonder if some sort of sliding scale or whatever could have been used to get relatively long term vets into or nearer Tier 9 without giving a surplus of extra tokens to the top vets.
