I'll second this suggestion. You already have the chain motif established in the chest decoration, so chain-wrap gloves would not be out of place and you have a sort of "tribal" feel.

I'll also state that the "Dog Girl" look doesn't look horrible, but I wouldn't go with it unless you're willing to depict her a little feral.

    Thanks for the explanation.
  4. Knowing nothing of the old CoP - what did it used to be like? Aside from the Items of Power and their connection to Base Raids (the only part I do know something about), how was the old Trial linked to PvP?

That's a legal fallacy, actually. While shareholders can insist on certain actions by virtue of being shareholders, the executives of the company are not required to maximise profit to the detriment of all else. Very few shareholders would be in favour of a pure-profit company; it's just that so few shareholders hold enough value or have enough time to be aware of everything the companies they own do and the steps they can take to make them do otherwise.

Dodge v. Ford, the case generally stated as proof that companies must maximise profit, is rarely, if ever, cited as legal precedent in course hearings, and wasn't even made in the district court most involved in corporate law (Dodge v. Ford was decided in Michigan; most corporate law is litigated in Delaware.)

While it's true that a distressing number of companies do maximise profit as if they were legally obligated to do so, the law does not, in fact, obligate them so.

I would lay a lot of money on there not being a single woman involved in the decision-making process on this at Activision/Blizzard.

    How do I...

A woman who is your master is generally referred to as "Mistress".

That word has other meanings, of course, but it would be more proper. However, to make it work, I suspect the devs would have to add a new master/mistress variable along the lines of the him/her ones.

I play villain side 95% of the time and I'll back up Leo's experience; "need healer" is something I don't see redside. Nor is "need tank".

Redside ATs are far more self-sufficient than blueside ATs, and after a few levels of play, the player-base seems to get this pretty well figured out.

Playing the game solo, with missions set for 8-person teams, is not farming. It's playing the game with masses of enemies attacking me. If I can take that, why shouldn't I play it (and get the rewards for it?)

    Playing the game isn't farming.
  11. If someone came from WoW and wanted to play a "healer" on CoX, I'd suggest Empathy. The powerset plays almost exactly in game as Priests do in WoW.

I can handle playing my Emp Defender sometimes, but not with strangers.

That's a lot of -KB to go with that tasty +recharge. That actually probably makes you feel pretty tough.

I could draw up a price list and send it to you? I often have my crafter characters put up Common IOs for fixed prices.
  14. I'll jump through hoops to play the game the way I want if I have to, but I'd much prefer there not being any hoops in the way.

That's what Scirocco believes. It doesn't have to be true, though. Maybe it just gives a power boost - lets you tap the power of the Mu (or the Leviathan, or the souls of the dead, or the technology of Arachnos) without needing a Patron's say-so.

We don't know that it can rewrite the world, because Scirocco never finishes his ritual. Maybe his research was just wrong.

I have a Magician character that is currently carrying around the Malleus Mundi because she'd far rather use its power for herself, rather than turn it over to Scirocco to do whatever stupid plot he has.

I'd really like for the game to have that as a choice I can make in the game mechanics, instead of having to go around them to do it (I'm still sitting on the "Return to Contact" portion of that mission).

Johnny Butane wants Tankers to do more damage. He's infamous for it.

For the record, I have two confirmed AV soloers, one that I've never bothered testing, and one that doesn't beat the AV, but doesn't get beat either.

My Fire/Dark Corruptor and Thugs/Dark MM both are confirmed to be AV killers, largely because /Dark is good at shutting down the mechanic wherein AVs cheat the most, regen.

I haven't tested my Bots/Traps MM against an AV since I finished her build, but soft-capped defences for her and her pets plus Traps debuffs should, in theory, make her capable of it.

My Will/SS Tanker can't take down an AV due to not doing enough damage to overcome their cheating regen, but neither can most AVs take her down through her cheating regen, so at least it's an even fight. Heck, she holds aggro on most GMs without support no problem, for that matter. I can understand why she doesn't have the earth-shattering strength of Superman with that balance in mind.

The Fire/Dark isn't even 50. Otherwise, all my 50s can at least hold their own against AVs, if not take them down.

And, for the record, AVs are not really the "real power" of these characters, in my book. The only two that might actually be naturally AVs are Statesman and Recluse; all the rest are EBs at best, and only cheat up to AV because of game mechanics, not story. It's just one of those things you have to accept - the game cheats. Games always cheat. It's the only way the stupid machines can keep up with us.

Sounds like perfect Jackian thinking. Which means it's a very plausible explanation.

I'm not sure if you're generalising and simplifying for rhetorical sake, or whether you're actually under the mistaken impression that there is code in the game that says "primary = better numbers".

Because that's not how it works.

Tankers don't get better defence numbers "because it's their primary"; they get better defence numbers because their AT modifiers are higher. That's why they get better numbers out of non-Primary defence powers as well, like Tough, Weave, and Combat Jumping (and they don't get better numbers from Manoeuvres because it uses a different AT mod value than other defence sets.)

Underneath the panel, all these sets have the same numbers in them. It's the ATs that multiply them. And if the devs determined that 80% (hypothetical number) of melee defence was the balanced value for a primarily ranged character, a simple tweak to AT mods would create that effect.

That's why Masterminds have much worse numbers for their buffs than Defenders or even Corruptors - but Masterminds don't spend their time whining about how their Darkest Night is only -22.5% to hit, while Defenders get -37.5% (they do sometimes whine that their Twilight Grasp only has a 10ft radius, but that was a specific programmed nerf, not a factor of AT mods).

Zombie or not, it's a good idea. It would make it easier to poke around AE and see what's up.

I don't feel bad. Your criticism doesn't really hurt me.

You're welcome to want, use, and have SB. I respect that. The issue here is that the pro-SB lobby does not respect those that would prefer to be, do, and have without SB.

Fight in melee? Well, there's no penalty for using ranged attacks in melee, so yes to that as well. Definite yes if Assault sets are used.
Debuff enemies? Depending on the blast set, yes.
Tank in a pinch? Yes, Willpower and Invuln would probably be pretty good at it.
Control? Dark Blast/Dark Armor would have a crap ton of control, and other sets have some as well. I'd imagine they'd probably give some in Epic pools too.
Immunity to most mez, including knockback? Yep.
You just described my Bots/Traps MM.
