Well my WP tank has tough and weave, and I tend to run CJ too for that extra bit of defence. When the bubbler forgot to bubble me up and the empath was sorting out another team member, I could easily survive once the red tower was down. Before that tower went down, I was very very glad to have the empath around. Otherwise I think I'de have needed debuffs on LR to cope.
I'le be interested to see how I do on it again with that toon, on a different team. -
Well yesterday I did the STF as the sole tank and he did brilliantly. With a bubble fender on the team I felt largely untouchable and the emp picked up the slack when it was needed which wasnt much. Recluse hit me hard before his red tower went down, after this, in general my regen could cope with his damage when the bubbler was busy. Only time I got scared was when GW finally managed to hit me and got me in soul storm, was wierd seeing him float about like that. After that the emp did a great job of keeping CM on me, but still, that was the most damage I took for the whole thing. Gotta love a bubbler on the team, though the emp got pretty bored

I personally love the Perfect Zinger Proc in my taunt. I use the 6th slot for a recharge IO. The amount of times I've managed to kill stuff on the last sliver of health, using taunt is great, and its just a no end, rather in accurate cone attack that does psi damage. A great proc to have!

Wonderfully well written!! I too have a love of good names and what makes them good.
A few of my toons names:
Mime Artiste - He's a mime, says it all.
Chilling Thought - Ice/psi domi (though I still get asked if im a fire/psi sometimes...go figure)
Bubba Bash - nice bit of alliteration for you.
Kentucky Fried Mime - a bit of a pun.
Static Mime - descriptive of powers and look, while also being a form of mime.
Ive seen some fantastic puns in this game, some brilliant player names, and well, some ones where I actually dont bother to invite them to the team becuase they have a stupid name. Names in full capitals, or xXB0bXx type names will also usually be passed up on an invite.
Thank NCSoft that people are allowed to buy name changes. -
Wouldn't it be cool if we could get the praetorians as patrons? Malaise for a patron mmmm ;D
-
I pretty much put it in there as I had a spare slot and that was about the only place I wanted to put it. The one in Subdue is my spammable power, when I can fire it off every 2-3 seconds
-
Gaussians in tactics and Decimation in subdue (which doesnt seem to fire very often).
-
Hehe, I remember making a /regen scrapper nearly cry cos of the sick amount of -rch and slow i could stack on him on my ice/psi domi. After one full attack chain, he had nothing left, including all of his heals, Hasten ect. Brutes are even funnier
And yeh, Perma-dom is well worth it! With stacked domination, and 2 chance for build up procs, I can put myself near the damage cap everyso often. But its the constant mezz protection that makes him a real rikti bashing machine. Standing up to Famine longer than the Brute (till my end went and I had no attacks left, and I legged it), will always be one of my fave achievements. Shame you dont get a badge for it. -

To make it easier I generally bind NUMPAD0 to Domination so as soon as I want it I click with my right-pinkie and get to work.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that does this!!! Nothing quite like using your lil finger to activate your Happy Button! -
It seems like Doms are the ones people make for the high end stuff. Like Trollers, below 32 they pretty much suck, then when they hit the higher lvls, they start to overshadow many other ATs. Both the strongest and the weakest of the ATs, a pain to lvl, but once you get high up, oh boy!!!
Here mr Brute, wanna go SMASH!!! Want the fury? Oh I'm sorry, but I wanna DOMINATE!!!! RAWR!!! -
True Shannon, but when it comes to things like STF and LRSF, its pretty frustrating when you get all that way and cant finish it.
I tanked most of the praetorians pretty successfully, and when LK space fell short one time, I was tanking +4/+5s with buffs, and even took on Malaise and Mother Mayhem as +4 to me.
I'm looking forward to doing STF with my tank though! -
Isn't Ghost Widow the highest ranking of the Widows?
-
My WP tank is now very nearly 50, and I thought that the STF would be a nice way for him to ding. I've seen him stand up to many an AV with little or no support, and with support stand up to just about anything, but the thought of +4 AVs and the big bad himself has me wondering if a WP tank can take it. With a pet emp and enough rad debuffs (most likely at least 2) would he survive ok? He has tough and weave, as well as health, and with AB on him and other buffs, his regen rate is impressive, but spike damage is never his friend.
So, do any other WP tanks have experience of being the tank on STF, or would it be best to bring another tank along to be the primary? -
Oooo, just occured to me, if an all VEAT team does the LRSF, that would just be Arachnos truely dominating the world!
-
Perhaps we will get to fight Arachnos too? It is survival of the fittest afterall...
-
Drakmarth, I think /psi is def one of those sets that can be considered a 'late bloomer' aka, doesnt get good till 38. I had much the same experience as you, 1-31, I mostly attacked from range running in on mezzed mobs to use Mind Probe. 32-37 I just let Jack be my pet tank. 38-44 Was when I started to go melee mad. 47-50 was when I started to leave the brutes behind saying "It's ok, go onto the next mob
"
Am tempted by a mind/elec or ice domi still, but may just hold out to see if domies will ever get illusions. Illusion/nrg domi would be such fun! -
From paragonwiki, Crab Spiders are supposed to be like SWAT. They roll in with the specialist stuff to take out big threats, the better armour and the bigger guns. But they also provide the support (Supression power) to others. So probs more of a mix between Brutes and Corruptors it would seem.

I agree with whats been said above. I love my domi, and after spending the stupidly large amount it took to make him a perma-dom, he definately is one of my fave toons, but I will agree, he is the toughest toon I have to play well. Being so squishy, and attracting that much aggro gets painful real quick. They take a lot of concentration to play, at least for me. My Ice/psi domi is a melee fighting/brute annoying/aggro getting/PSW spamming midget with a kamikaze complex.
I always have fun playing him...unless im tired and cant concentrate. Then I go on my illu/rad -
Mind/Elec could be quite fun as the melee attacks have chance to sleep your oponents. Would be nice and cheap too!
Star Dreamer perhaps? -
Yay 2nd thread!
On a more serious note, what names are ppl thinking of/reserved for their new Arachnos Soldiers?
Personally I have gone for 'The Silent Operative' to go along with my Mime themed toons.
What else have ppl come up with? -

Longbow soilders who fall under the control of a Fortuna's domination will still have to answer for any actions they make while being mind controled. We trained you better than to use excuses like 'I didn't have control over what I was doing.'
[/ QUOTE ]
Remind me, was there a reason why heroes work for Hero Corps rather than Longbow apart from the bad attitude of the Longbow commanders.

'cos Longbow look stupid in there silly red and white spandex? -
Praf, do you have a /psi domi? While /psi may have the longest ranged attacks (100ft compared to the usual 80, its ranged damage is pitiful, unless you count the 25ft of PSW as ranged damage. Subdue aint bad, but mental blast is poor, and psi dart is well, pathetic, and yes the snipe is high damage, but in the time it takes to fire off one snipe, i could have hit 2 PSW (with my current build). /psi domies belong in melee range, to not use the melee powers would make you, well pathetic in comparison.
For staying at range, ive seen both Fire and Ice domies do very well, and could imagine that nrg could do well too. It also depends on your primary. Ice aint good for staying at range, cos of its pbaoe nature. Mind/ice or mind/fire would work nicely for ranged imo, as for the rest, have a look and see.
But really, a domi is much like a blapptroller in playstyle, if its gonna hurt you, mezz it and blast it from range, if its mezzed, go womp on it by smashing it in the face with something cos it cant fight back. But its up to you how you play. -
Ahh yet another thread like this, not having browsed this section for a while, ive not missed them.
I rarely play my stalker any more, he mostly gets used for 3rd respec speed runs, but then, when you have a lvl 50 perma-dom, why play something else?
As for teaming. In large teams, I tend to feel useless, especially on the steamroller type teams you usually get. On teams that struggle a bit, or are facing white/yellow stuff, I can pretty much solo a small team spawn without much effort, and sometimes for bigger teams depending on enemy type. Well played PvE stalkers are few and far between, and many stalkers suffer from the vicious cycle mentioned above. Personally, as a stalker, I favour small teams, 4 or 5, sometimes 6. with 8 you get lost in the carnage and then feel inadequate.
Its been a while since ive plugged my own guide, but will do so again here, check out the Tao in my sig.
To me a see stalkers as I see scrappers. There are things that do more damage and survive longer in teams than them, but if the person playing it knows what they are doing, and you know and like them, they are worth far more than a fully purple'd out blaster you dont like, and quite often, that stalker/scrapper will give you a nice suprise with something like after a near team wipe, clearing up the mob and passing the wakie to the rezzer (which ive done several times).
So yeh, stalkers, far from the first choice on a team, and quite often the last, but find a good one, and you know you have met a good player.
