I have two things. I would put the icicles at different heights because they look like they are all on the same plane. It would look more explosive. Her forward foot might look better if it were pointed down a lttle more for a classic flying pose.

I like everything else. Great job!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I see what your talking about and I'll be setting the foot back the way it was when I started that part. Chalk that up to over tweaking. The Ice seems to give people problems atm. I'm going to add a swoosh effect behind them and maybe that'll show the true angles of the icicles because they really are set at different heights. The middle icicle is set at .350 and the next two on either side are set at .375 and .025 more for the next set. I may have to do some work on camera angles, not sure, but I'll keep after it. Thanks for the perspective.

Great action piece. My only critique (if you want to call it that) is the hair color. Any way to make it white to stay true to the characters ingame colors?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks, and yes, the hair color is going to be white. It was acting up on me lastnight by trying to apply the original texture maps. It was getting late and I wanted to get the WIP out there for Larissa so she could see the progress. I consider this as the foundation work with lots more work ahead.

It may be my mind set, but for some reason I have those feelings that I just really want to do a good job. Funny, because I wasn't giving myself this much pressure when I did Gamma's pics. I guess the difference is I was toying around when I did Gammas and with this one I want it to be more professional looking.

Anyhow, I'm just going with the feelings, and I'm going to make this piece. I think Larissa will be happy with the finished product if current reactions are of any indication.

    Larissa WIP

Hi all, I'm posting this WIP to see what Larissa and everyone thinks about it. I've got a few tweaks that I'll be doing before finishing and I know this version is low-res, but if any other eyes notice anything that my eyes are missing, let me know.

I now present the WIP, Larissa
  5. Very much in tune with the theme. The cartoon feel goes perfectly with the concept. Good job.

So long as you don't stick me in a witch outfit, go for it.

What? Seriously, how do those wenches freakin' breathe?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Magic, Devious. Magic. They are witches after all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ha-Ha.

which now brings to mind revelation #26

    26) You start frisking all the witches to find out how they fit into their outfits.
    27) You wash all the redcaps headgear with bleach.
    28) You go into Croatoa singing either 'American Woman' or 'Ride, Sally, Ride'.
    29) You use your stealth powers to go around the sleeping pumkinheads and carve soul patch goatees under their mouths to make them look cool.
    30) You run into Croatoa like a red-neck yelling; "I'ma har fer some deermeat!"
  11. 1) As a fire blaster at lvl 45, you go to Perez and show off your hot foot to the local hellions
    2) As a mace tank, you yell out at Vahzloks "Cool! More meat to tenderize!"
    3) As an Axe wielding tank, you announce to your teammates that you are a weedwhacker and your going after the DE.
    4) As a Controller, you use your powers to make the banished hit themselves in the foreheads with discarded beercans.
    5) You use your illusion powers to make the CoT think they are bikini clad car washers.
    6) You keep pants'ing the Warriors because they are so pathetic.
    7) You make a banished mask part of your wardrobe.
    8) You treat a Zeus Mecha as your personal transport.
    9) You make every Villian you defeat wear a TuTu in humiliation.
    10) You tell every Fake Nemisis you meet that you are the real Nemisis and that your stick is bigger.
    11) You only use char on Malta Sappers to get even with them.
    12) You slot 6 range enhancements on your long range bolt power and you 1 shot kill things that don't even appear on the screen they're so far away.
    13) You put the word Cuisinart into your name because you have a katana.
    14) you keep asking for the power 'beat them until their eggwhites are stiff'
    15) you think a cook power set would be cool.
    16) As a healer, you let a tank barge in only to die 5 seconds in and you say, "oops! I forgot to set my autoheal..."
    17) You auto heal in an hami-raid LONG after everyone has told you not too.
    18) You only use Sands of Mu because it makes you look like Shiva.
    19) You ask every Council, "Who's yo mama now!"
    20) You depress the Outcasts by not attacking them and killing every troll in site.
21)You use Skydiving off the blimp as a power to defeat the Hellions under you in Atlas.
    22) You taunt the Cot because of their so called dresses.
    23) You spray paint a mustache on every portrait you see of Manticore.
    24) You refuse to be teleported in the Caves of Transendence because of displacement issues.
    25) you wear a necklace made of Supatroll teeth.

That's enough for now. if I get positive feedback, I might try for more.
  12. A Hero’s Tears

Her name is Flareback and this blue-skinned alien who has fought numerous battles against evil, is having one of those moments that leaves a being totally helpless. She is having trouble reconciling the fact that she’s had to endure the most horrific violation that a person can go through. Her nemesis had had a sample of her DNA made into a new being. This being happens to be her son Cosmic Firelight. Unfortunately, Cosmic Firelight or as Flareback likes to call him, Chris has a father who is Flare’s enemy, General Dursagon. Chris was created to fight against his mother but because of Dursagon’s DNA, Chris was ‘born’ with deformities. Worse, when Chris’ father found out about the deformities, Dursagon ordered his minions to dump the baby in the streets to die with a note. Chris was to set an example of what Dursagon thought about Flare and her family. The toxins in the air would have killed the baby, but fate saved him and a friend of the family was nearby and heard the choking cries of the baby. Quick reactions and help from another alien race saved Chris’ life.

Flare was not into the idea of having a son, but after the procedure to artificially age Chris so that he would be stabilized given the transfusion with a crystalline alien, the graphing of techno arms, and the fusing of bio-metallic legs, she can’t help but to love him now.

A tear runs down her face as she remembers the first time he spoke to her. Chris was trying to grasp the idea of who Flare and her sister Chillback were. Chill had spent several minutes trying to get Chris to say aunt. When Flare entered the room, Chill pointed and directed Chris to say mama. Flare was about argue that point loudly until Chris inquisitively said “Mama?” and then quickly repeated himself with a sigh of contentment in his voice. That one act melted Flare’s heart faster than any flame she could produce. Seeing that innocent face look up at her with nothing but love was enough to galvanize her motherly instincts.

But now she cries. She does so because she can’t or either doesn’t want to think how it’s possible that a being could so callously discard a life that was so young and innocent. To her, that vile act is so painful that it sometime hits her so hard that she doubles over from the emotional duress. It really hits hard when Chris has exceptionally good days learning or when he goes out of his way to show his love for his mother. What also hurts is the idea that one day she’ll have to tell Chris about his father but that is one pain that she’s not quite ready to deal with.

After awhile, Chris comes in and Flare sniffs back the tears as Chris asks her if she’s ok. She tells him that she’s had a bad day and that he has just made it better. They exchange a hug and she reminds herself that she needs to remember the hugs for they will always make things better. Flare asks him to go study with his cousin Ampervolt and for dinner, she’ll make flaming steaks. The sight of an 18 year old bounding away like a happy toddler brings a teary smile to Flare’s face.

Dursagon, I would absolutely love to see your family's works and get a clue on how the pricing works.

The snowboarding piece was done with lead H came, but I too prefer copper foil. I just wish I didn't have to sit and foil for hours.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know what you mean, but we use the tape copperfoil and dispenser which we find very helpful. I posted our glasswork on my DA site here. These were the only pic I could find tonight. I can snap more of the other stuff we have.
  14. I found the other book I was talking about.

Draw the Marvel Comics Super Heroes by John Romita

I like the book strictly because it is done by John Romita.
  15. I got that book sitting right here next to me.....

On page 42, it talks about making the character 8 and 3/4 heads tall. I found a newer book that was done by one of the other X-Men artists and they used 8 head tall figures. If you find 8 and 3/4 to odd to work with, shrink the dimensions down to 8 heads tall. if interested, you can e-mail me and I'll try finding the other book.
  16. I like the icey look to the first piece. The dimensions are very good. I like that you used Copperfoil and not H Caming. With a VERY steady hand, H Caming can look good in somethings, but I think Copperfoil is better and more artistic.

I found for pricing, it's best to go with the panes you used to create the piece and size. got to glass galleries and look what they charge. Never under-estimate yourself. It takes talent to take colored glass and make something out of it. If your interested, I can show you some of my family's works and give you an idea on pricing.

    Fallconess (WIP)

Eyes are hard. Sometimes they might look like they are looking at 2 different things. If you have trouble with eyes, try drawing nothing but eyes until you feel like they look good. The length of the body makes me feel like this is a picture of a elven character. if the ears are round though, I'd still say I'd like it because it may be a half-elf. I've always loved half-elves since back in my D&D days before PC games ever came out.

Ah, to actually act out your character with other people in the room and letting things flow. those were the days.
  18. Sorry Rowr. Having a faulty mind, I couldn't remember. I shall go to my dry erase board and write 100 times;

"Her name is Rowr, her name is Rowr."
  19. Dursagon

    Not to offend.

I could convey all sorts of emotions from this, but I think this needs to be looked at differently.

What if the intent was simply to get this act noticed because it happened. No emotion, no political motivation, just an act to get people to think about themselves and how they act in this life. We sometimes get so wrapped up in ourselves that we forget there is a world outside of our comprehension.

Also, there is a world within. Each being is more than their shell and it is very few who understand the full ramification of that.

The universe is not always pretty so we shouldtry to understand, learn, and strive to find what beauty we can.

Pity the blind man for what he can't see, but stand in awe of him for what he CAN see. Not all sight uses the eyes.
  20. Roxstar, I Like Gill's work. I like DaveN, Darkjedi, Alex, Rawr, Guildhelper Artists, and many more that are faved in my DA account.

With Gill the issue was something totally not based on his art. I love his art.

With CJ, it was the fact that I'm just going along and WHAM, Cj attacks without provocation. When I get attacked like that, I hold a grudge. I do not believe in sweeping something like that under the carpet. To me, it's like committing murder and asking a judge to dismiss it because other people like that person and the offender is really not that bad. True, I could have stated that the reason I don't like the work beyond a personal issue is the fact that to me it's a little scratchy and I tend to like works that are smoother and softer like those mentioned above but in the snippy state that I was in at the time, really only wanted to make the post short and simple. Now, Let's also put out there that CJ has also elected to eliminate all ability to have a dialog between us so we can air our differences privately. By doing that, then leaving posts like my first one in this thread is the only way to the message across. If Cj was to open the lines of communication and say sorry for the snappy actions, I would drop it in a heartbeat and move on.

As for Gill, I HAVE dropped that and moved on with that. there is no further issue there.

And with the free art comment, maybe 5 times at the most have I posted in others threads that offered free art. I still have fun looking at the pic of my villian deathchill playing poker. Of those, I had 1 misunderstanding, it was clarified, I said I was sorry for misunderstanding, and moved on.

I never actively sought HARD to get free art. What I HAVE done is tried real hard to get on other peoples Queues so I can PAY for some top quality art. That is the hard part because My schedule sometime conflicts with other artists schedule and when they post their open slots, I miss out. I chalk that up to fate and I go on. Maybe I'll get on someone's queue, maybe not. Time will tell.

In conclusion, Roxstar, I DO appreciate civil arguements like you have presented. I try to reply civilly as well. There's no beef because I fully understand coming to a friends side. We've stated our case and now we can move on.
  21. BM, You can defend him if you like, all I'm doing is telling the truth. From the first moment, DJ was hateful and it was he who first drew blood. You state, that you try and keep negative thoughts to yourself, but that's not what CJ did to me, so I'm only responding in kind.

I really do find it odd that for some, the only posts that are allowed are ones that are nothing outside of ego stroking for others.

In the real world, not everyone gets along and people have issues with one another. But everyone has the freedom to express themselves even if it is to state a different viewpoint.
  22. DJ can do so much more and better job than I with the postwork on his images. One of these decades I might get it down.
  23. Not the best art in the world, coming from someone who has shown me nothing but their ugly, hateful side.....

"I find it odd that for a bunch of free speechers, They jump at the chance to censor anyone who opposes them!" -Unknown source
  24. congrats on your first commish. I made payment on my first commish back in Oct and I have yet to get any art....
