Quote:Smallville is not in the same universe as Lois & Clark.Oh, I didn't realize Smallville was based in the same universe as Lois & Clark. Or the first Superman television series. But that's ok, the SG-1 series was 10 seasons. And sucessful enough to make spin-offs. At best, Smallville will get a Green Arrow series for lolz.
I'm glad ratings equals quality for you. I guess it has to for someone.
To some it is considered that Birds of Prey is a Smallville spin-off (which if true would interestingly enough put them in an amalgam Bronze/Modern age universe) and there are 2, Supergirl and/or Blue Beetle, propositioned for spinoffs...oh and there was a Aquaman spin-off that fell through, but has or had some record on itunes for like most downloaded single episode.
It's popular. while it's true it might not be of the highest quality possible, it's still good enough to be considered worth while by a nice chunk of people and so there must be some quality within it past what you are seeing.
And besides if you are going to say, it's not quality so it's not good I think you are going to have argue with Star Trek and Star Wars fans as we all know how poor those products actually are in terms of some non-specific "quality." -
Quote:Characters evolving is a bad thing! BAD SHOW! BAD! Go be one dimensional like all those other crappy shows! Is the show a success? Yes. Not that it means much on the station it airs on. Being the best that the WB/CW has to offer is like being the most polished turd. It's still a turd.
But your defense lacks a lot of merit when it disregards the quality of show we had in the first 4 seasons, and the subject material from whence it draws its characters from. Then the fact that it ignores the characterisitics these people SHOULD have. Clark, acts like a buffoon and creep sometimes. Then sometimes, the characters can't act the same from episode to episode.
That's what most people are upset about when they complain. The fact that the show completely disregards the things that made it great from the beginning. Now, the writing is just a joke. The only real reason it stays on, is because the CW needs something to carry it along.
Oh, and when you say there's been no other prevelant shows in recent decades to be as successful as Smallville, you missed at least one very obvious success. And it's spawned spin-offs and (straight to DVD) movies. And has probably made a lot mroe money. -
I think this episode should have been 2 hours for the amount of content... it suffered from skip stuff syndrome.

Quote:The chemicals in your brain can be controlled by your mental processes as well. Sure you have a small amount of chemicals for anger, but you can instantly reverse it in a number of different ways. You are trying to separate brain from mind and that is just a wrong way to look at biology. You're not controlling the biology of it, just your mind, you're not succumbing to all the adrenalin and mental urges, you're keeping them down. And it's a fine thing to do, one of the hardest indeed... but that doesn't change the fact that your body is still telling you to do things, you're just using your mind to overcome it.
However, Banner's transformation is spurred on by the body. He can control being angry mentally but his body still activates the transformation. Additionally, the starts of the transformation also make harder for him to mentally control it. -
If you think you can't control anger it tends to mean that you haven't ever had a temper to have to control. Trust me, anger can be controled
Also Superman is not about "truth, justice, and the american dream." He's about "I'd like someone like this to protect me." I've never heard the reasoning behind Batman, but given it's inspiration it was likely dark justice.
Most of Marvel's line up is meh to me. Most of their characters are ego centric to such a degree it's uninteresting. -
most movies have "alternate" beginnings. You just don't see them much because they are usually just differently cut or longer versions of the used one and add nothing dif to the movie overall... just like this one.

I vote for Durakken... >.> and Durakken votes for Durakken... so Durakken wins...
What?
Having several personas is not always a bad thing ^.^ -
Quote:I don't find Hulk really all that sympathetic at all and that is as someone that has come closer to that type of situation than most. Getting that angry and turning into someone else, doing things you normally wouldn't, and not really having any control. Yeah, been there. The fact that as far as I have seen he hasn't really learned to control his anger is disgusting to me. This is why to me, Batman and Superman and many other DC chars are so much more sympathetic to me. Having the power to decimate someone, and even having a huge amount of fury, but still keeping it in check and trying to do whats right without hurting people. There's also the other thing, it appeals to power fantasies. Who, really hasn't as some pointed wanted to go "Forget this!" Hulk out and beat the tar out of someone that really deserves it?
Banner doesn't do this. He's a emo twit that in the end doesn't care about anyone but himself and while he may do some good, it's not cause he's a good person, but rather it just happens that it works out better for himself. He can't even be trusted to do what's good for himself, because he has no self control either...so for me he's one of the worst "entities" in all of fiction and I'd much rather read about anyone else and probably team with just about anyone else. I mean Darkseid is evil, but at least he's an evil that's consistent. -
>.> Lex Luthor sounds like crap in this movie!

I love a Beautiful Mind. There is so much one can learn from it and it really useful in a philosophy class.

A movie I just watched...
"The Battle for Terra"
available on Netflix
Humans detroyed Earth and need to colonize a new planet. The planet they have chosen has life on it already. So now what should they do? -
If you want comics with an end in sight...
Graphic Novels for western comics are where you're gonna look, not Comics
For comics, you want to look at TPB. This keeps you from worrying about the drama of on-going stories while still allowing you to read them.... all saves the trees and your time by putting several issues all in one neat package.
Other than that you can only look for limited series and not much else in the western market...
And also if you just like that a story is wrapped up, most modern comics from what I can see have 5-6 issue arcs which is something that is borrowed from manga ^.^
in Manga though... Almost every story has an end in site... They are always working towards an end goal, even Naruto, Bleach, Gantz, and other long running series that are something like 10 years on. -
>.>
<insert JFK speech>
Yeah... he's an awesome SuperCriminal -
I only watch...
WWE RAW
TNA Impact
Smallville
Stargate Universe
Attack of the Show
and Doctor Who
...on TV
So it's hard to say I care. -
ummm Batman... Cmon...he created the Bat-vuvuzela... or prolly will >.>
-
so read up to may 06 in the bat books, stop and read CoIE, Zero Hour, IC, and 52, then read may 06 and on... maybe OMAC (as it has to do with the bat family) the other books I don't care too much about as they deal with other characters I don't plan on following, but if I did follow those chars I'd probably read them...

another thing you could do with it, depending on how sticky it is and such is you could give a quick extra layer to say a dress or something so that if it's a cold night and you want to wear said dress you still could, without ruining the dress itself to add that extra insulation, because you could apply to the dress's inside and not have any extra thread marks or anything like that
It would also help provide coverage for for ladies that are afraid of a wardrobe malfunction with outfits that they can't wear a bra with.
So there are plenty of potential uses for this... just not as advertised as full clothing. For that, they'd need a wide spray and a machine that can hit both sides. They'd also make it less see through before it catches on en-masse for anything other than people that like the look and don't mind wearing mesh and such -
On the one hand...totally impractical and somewhat stupid...
On the other hand. This would make for a great survival kit addition. Cold night, ripped your clothes, need extra layers, someone stole your clothes... seems like it would be pretty useful when you need an immediate solution to clothes problem. -
So I should read IC and 52 then...ok...
Now the next part can anyone tell me the issues that I should stop reading the regular titles at and switch to the Crisis before continuing on? i know for 52 is may 06, but for IC, is it right before then? or a little further back or what? -
I would pay if they did it right for some games... like Halo. I love what I know about Halo's universe, but I'm not a big FPS fan so I'm likely to never see the story.
The problem here is not the concept... it's the price and the brands they have to work with. -
Quote:The thing is I know what generally happens in each story because I like reading about the cosmologies of marvel and DC and any other cosmology and the Crisis are all cosmological changers.I really liked Infinite Crisis a lot, despite not having read Crisis on Infinite Earths or being terribly familiar with DC's stuff in general at the time. Crisis on Infinite Earths is good, but the dialogue hasn't aged well IMO. Reading it wouldn't be a bad idea, but if you don't want to do that you could just hit wikipedia and get all the information you need to understand Infinite Crisis. No comment on 52, as I haven't read enough of it to really form an opinion.
So I know what they are doing... i just don't know whether they are worth the read since I already know what happens in them in general (Linkara spoils stuff!) -
question...how old are these students? I ask because a 10 yr old might not have seen Matrix but an 18 yr old likely has.
-
I'm coming up on these two books fairly quickly in my Bat-family read everything thing...so my question is... are these two books worth the read and should I read the earlier crises before I read it if I do?
-
So NML, Knightsaga (as whole), 52, and world war hulk is out... >.> that kind sucks.
