  1. Evil_Legacy, this has been an epic thread.

Many people have upset you whilst trying (in some cases quite hard) to help, but I want to make a brief comment.

    Rangle did not disrespect you.

    Hyperstrike did not disrespect you.

Neither Rylas nor Sailboat were disrespectful either.
I want to put it on record that I have no respect for your behaviour on this thread whatsoever.

(I know this isn't helpful, but this thread made me log on the the forums to post for the first time in ages.)
  2. On a totally unrelated note...

    GANGREL YOU DOG!

How come you have your title still? Mine went when we swapped over to a combined EU-US forum structure.
  3. There's a tier 1 or 2 TW attack that adds about 7% defence, and Invincibility needs bodies close to boost the defences. If it's clicked as active in Mids, it may explain the large difference.

Check the values from Combat Attributes while fighting 3, and then 6 enemies. Grey con will do, they count the same, and you can focus on stats. They are likely to be much closer to Mids forecast.
  4. I really enjoy just driving as well. I used to get bored when at University and drive to a random bit of seaside or a cathedral. Both are quiet and lovely at 4am, and then I could drive back home before dawn.
  5. Nihilii: thanks for the long post, it brought up a few that wouldn't have occurred to me.

Combat: Staff/Willpower is a great idea, I wouldn't have thought of that as it's so new.

As to why I wanted a list of ideas? Well, my kids now team with me on free accounts, so SO's only, and I just fancied the challenge of an SO build for an alt occasionally. The IO icons make all builds look a bit too homogenous. Plus it feels nostalgic.
  6. I recently found a very old alt, who hasn't seen the light of day since before IO's.

I liked the costume and the description, so I went straight onto Mids and put together a build using IO's for this Electric/Energy Blaster. I then clicked /respec and realised that he was instead an Energy/Electric Blaster. Ah well, time to replan.

The character has a full set of SO's and only about 300,000 inf so I started to wonder, what is the best combo for each AT using only SO's.

I looked through the forums, and it seems a topic little touched on, but it may be nice for our unsubbed brethren to have some pointers. So can I request each reply just list an AT, the 2 power sets and the reason why it doesn't really need anything more than that?

I think I bought the last existing CoV Collector's Edition at the auction at the UK player meet at Omega Sektor. I think it cost me £50 (all for charidy, mate) and I was delighted with it, it was worth every penny. Rockjaw said it had been found in a room at NCSoft Brighton, and was going to be thrown away until Aero explained to him how much it was wanted.

[Edit: I then got another as a gift for helping out at the event, and gave that one away.]
  8. Thanks for a great radio station folks. I had a splendid time listening until my bandwidth couldn't cope with the radio and CoH together (damn you Virgin_Broadband!).

Be well and don't hesitate to return to the airwaves when the mood takes you!
  9. When you click a glowie and it counts down, stealth supresses and moving disables the countdown.

But I often rotate in place as it counts down so I can see enemies that are almost in aggro range when I'm stealthing missions.
  10. Hi folks,

Like many others, I've been having a lot of fun with the new weapon power sets. I love the way they fit my character concepts.

I also have a nasty tendency to take the Fighting pool, as if you're aiming to boost defence/defense it lets you improve it by +3% (or +6% if rich) in Tough and +more in Weave.

But this leaves me with a power pick I NEVER use, in Boxing or Kick. I rarely use it on alts that don't have a weapon, but given the redraw, it never sees by bar on weapon users.

It then struck me, why not use the already coded Brawl animation for Boxing, and by extension Air Superiority? I'll grant you that Flurry, Kick and Jump Kick wouldn't translate so easily, but even just those 2 having their animations changed would mean I could get an attack chain without redraw a lot faster without as much animation work.

What do you all think, is it a reasonable idea?
  11. When I started in this game, my first 5 alts were based on me and my family. Each member of the family designed the alt and their costume and I played them all to 50.

I went to a PvP zone once during this time to help some sg mates get PvP kill badges. I stood there and let them kill my daughters, then logged in the next one and allowed them to kill her. I HATED every kill, gritted my teeth and helped them, and was emotionally torn up by seeing my daughters die again and again.

I never went into PvP zones again, and never will. That entirely personal experience scarred me.

No trash talking was involved, just my own silly investment in the characters.

I'm guessing this isn't terribly relevant to other people's reasons for avoiding PvP zones, but I know it had a huge effect on me. No change to PvP will bring me back, and PvPers are entirely innocent in this story.
  12. I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but playing around with Mid's a while ago when planning my Devices blaster, I came up with the idea of soft capping ranged defenses (as a blaster is happier at range).
You could survive and (probably fail to) TANK!!

  13. Firstly, congratulations to one and all for the changes, well deserved as they all are.

Melissa, did you ever believe that you'd end up in charge of the whole shebang when you started at Cryptic all those years ago as an Office Manager? What a ride!

But mostly, thank you Matt for a wonderful and triumphant tenure as our Comander in Chief! It scarcely seems like the same game as it was when you took over the reins, and personally, I have absolutely LOVED the direction we've been heading in .

Now it MIGHT be that I16 is power customzation, ergo another extremely thin expansion. While it's nice they revamp the game engine to "modern" standards (still no gfx update it seems though) and we're getting GR this - to me - is very troublesome. Seems like another pointless stab at the competition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How can you possibly assume all that from a two-screenshot teaser?

I'm not saying it'll be earth-shatteringly awesome, because we don't know much of anything yet, but really, I think it's a little bit early to start the whining on this one.

    Issue 16

I hope we can have a personal option to turn off the colourisation effects. I'm used to the colours as they are, and having seem a lot of REALLY VERY UGLY COSTUMES I'd rather like to avoid REALLY UGLY GARISH GLOWING EFFECTS EVERYWHERE. My eyes won't be able to take it.

Seriously, people can make the ugliest choices, and I really, really hate the idea of the game turning into a combination of Hello Kitty and dried blood.
