Yeah that's what I've heard a few people say, it's the musical equivilent of being on the Simpsons, you know you're big if Weird Al has parodied one of your songs. From what I've heard Weird Al is one of the nicest people in the business.
Yeah the song does sound like something Lady Gaga would actually say, "it's an act, a performance and it gets me money, so why should I care what you thinK?" -

Skycracker landed on the wharf, she was out of missiles, so fortunately for the meatbags infront of her, she couldn't just blast them to smithereens.
"Well this is more like it, you know that's the problem with you organics, you squish so easily and I'm going to enjoy crushing you under foot..."
She also suffered from a classic case of villainous gloating but then that was something of a defining trait of her 'side'. Raising her foot up to stomp downwards on the creatures infront of her... -
Quote:Hmm in that case Random with a streak breaker would probably be the best way.I have been thinking on this, and I can not come up with a system that will not cause more problems than a random or near-random system.
Therefore, I say random, but look at the upgrade/downgrade costs on the rewards, so that a string of bad luck on the rewards does not become an overly unfair situation.
It'd have to be pretty high, say 10 trials and if you haven't received a Rare or Very Rare within those 10 trials, then it becomes a dice off between those two tables weighted 75% Rare, 25% Very Rare.
That's just something throwing out there, not sure if it's a good idea but just something. -
That's the thing though, most of the madder science tends to be done via first world countries Military contracts and the like, so we have no idea what's going on with regards this.
Your Portal/Half-life style Apeture Science/Black Mesa facilities really aren't likely, I'm not going to say they couldn't though.
Now you're William Gibson style cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, that stuff is probably a lot closer than we'd like to think but not for the public, the prediction is 2020 for computers being able to provide enough processing power to match the human brain but I would bet that would be military use and probably another 10 years before we see it in the public domain.
That's just what I think though. -
That is SOOO much better than ye olde Tyrant look.
It looks sleek, imposing and has the faceless goon quality every dictator wants of super soldiers cloned from himself.
After all, if they all have your face it'd be rather creepy talking to them. -
and Invulnerability also does not have a damage aura.
So that's Invulnerability, Shield and Willpower tankers can unite! -
I think the problem mainly stems to the format.
Taskforces, in my opinion, aren't great places for writing the likes which featured in the arcs we seem to enjoy. For a story to really go well, I think it needs to be a lot more personal and you just don't get that in a Taskforce, especially if you're not the leader.
The very fact nobody but the leader can get the full story really doesn't work in their favour, to make up for it they need to have things that are snippets in themselves.
That isn't to say all new arcs have been good, a Heroes' Epic, while better than a Heroes' Hero, just made me feel unimportant, why the hell am I there if the Freedom Phalanx are there, I already know those pets can pretty much mush any resistance I'm going to face.
Roy Cooling's arc, I felt had some real potential but just didn't quite live up to it because it had to shoehorn in the new 'latest thing'. Once the Praetorian war is over (as in we get to beat Tyrant), it won't stand on it's own as well as the self contained stories of Vernon Von Grunn or Oh Wretched Man.
I know Venture and Eva HATE the new clone arcs but they atleast make my character feel important, especially the ending to the 2nd part of the villainside one. Where I can be as evil or as noble as I see fit, often times taking the noble option because sometimes even the most evil villains need a moment where they let their humanity shine, even if it's quickly forgotten the moment another opportunity arises. -
There are times when the plot matter to me but they're rarely on Taskforces, I have the mentality of 'get this done' when it comes to taskforces.
Now this is actually a byproduct of the attrocious storytelling the original six heroside taskforces have, they're bland, boring and nothing but a series of missions which are barely connected. I'm there to tank and hit stuff.
When I'm solo, completely different story, there I want to pause, take a breath, read the story and I'm altogether an easier man to please than yourself.
While I had little vested interest in Roy Coolings arc (ech the Praetorian invasion thing seems shoehorned in, why couldn't it just be about people wanting the medical care that heroes recieve without the whole 'the Praetorian invasion hangs over us' that looms over the arc), I like the Clone arcs in Talos. They made my character feel important, I like Dean McArthur's arc because, damnit, I liked Dean.
I found him one of the few likeable characters villainside who I can picture most of my villains ending the arc going "you know what Dean, you're alright..." amd giving Dean a little fistbump, or atleast a wry smile, which puts him up there with Vernon Von Grunn, an arc that I hold dear to my heart.
Almost every arc (O'Wretched Man is a stand out exception, along with a few others) made me not give a toss about the contact, most of my villains would much rather gut them than play lackey, especially Hardcase or Westin Phipps. -
Second this.
Seriously Sam, even though you've mentioned you do enjoy the game when I bought this up you've kind of done nothing but gripe about everything and anything recently.
Ok lets compare.
You saw these deep characters and so on.
Me, you know what I saw.
An obstacle, my response was.
"heh they're gender swapped, interesting".
Footstomp, KO blow.
Literally that was it for me, I smiled a little and then went straight into the act of punching the crap out of whoever was closer.
The dropped so fast that I literally had no time to even see the witty banter going on between them as I'm concentrating on being alive while tanking 2 AVs. -
Now I personally don't mind holding off for a week but it's upto the other people involved, if I get outvoted, so be it, we'll move time forward.
So the count now stands at 1 for and 1 against. -
Skycracker's missiles detonated in the water like depth charges, sending concussive blasts through the water but thanks to both Quicksilver diving AND the fact they weren't heat seeking failed to do any damage.
The warning coming up on her HUD that there were multiple missiles incoming from all different angles, firing off Chaff to distract the missiles and the rail cannon just missing...just.
"Oh Frak this noise..."
She cut her engines and begun to drop out of the sky, transforming midfall, the two large jet engines turning into a jetpack, arms and legs folding out of the side of the Blackbird and her head flipping up from within the back area of the aircraft, the curves of the Blackbird allowed her a more femine form.
She waited for just the right moment and refired the engines, catching herself from hitting the water, she may not be as aerodynamic in this form but she was still fast, skimming across the water and now aiming towards the small creatures that had tried to bombard her with mini-missiles.
"Command, I request backup, I have multiple hostiles, the Autobot has a lot of help!" -
Yup Night (on Union RPers) had his character Night Wacher in the all very rare territory about 4-5 days ago.
My Tanker just need Barrier at Very Rare, already have the rest at Very rare status. -
It feels like Tankers are kind of getting screwed by this, we have no buffs/debuffs and we have crappy single target damage.
Please, for the love of all that's holy Paragon Studios, remove the participation element and just make it fully random. Atleast keep a minimum level of partcipation like suggested to weed out leechers but lordy don't make the end table result based on it. -
Skycracker picked up the signal.
"All hail Megatron, this is Skycracker, recon division, I've got Autobot sighted and will be engaging."
The roar of the jet engines grew louder as she closed in on the Autobot she had picked up earlier who was now...driving on water?!
"Oh what the...now that's a new trick, shame it won't save you.."
The bleep of a target lock and she unleashed her full barrage of missiles, being recon she was lightly equipped, not designed for prolonged combat but fast strikes, still if the missiles failed she could always use her speed advantage in hand to hand combat. -
My Tanker, thanks to the Very Rare Warwork ACU + Vicky pet can now solo AVs and almost solo Giant Monsters with Shivans (got them down to 1/3rd of their life bar before the pets run out).
Also Pylon soloing time was 2 minutes.
Mind you that was with me standing away from the Pylon and taunting while the pets did all the hard work. -
Can safely say it doesn't apply to ALL pets, I've seen my Warwork pets apply the debuff themselves.
-
In the sky of Independence Port was another shimmer, nowhere near as big as the last one but the sound of a jet could be heard screeching overhead.
"Oh frak...where in all of Megatron's wrath am I now?"
The voice a female one, decidely less perky than that of Elise, more mature and with a hint of malice. The owner of said voice was currently in her vehicle mode of a Lockheed SR-17 Blackbird.
"This is Skycracker to Decepticon command, anyone reading me...anyone?"
The static of silence greeted her.
"grrrr alright there I am, flying along and some swirly thing opens up before I can get out the way now I'm stuck in some weird city with no backup...not my idea of fun."
Doing where her vehicle mode was best at, recon, she made a swoop over the area in quick time, flying low to get her bearings and narrowly missing a giant Octopus.
"Ok now THAT is not normal...seriously when did Earth get cephalopods that frakking huge?!"
She screamed past a car with..someone riding the roof, now humans were stupid so such things were to be expected but one thing caught the scanners.
The Autobot symbol.
If Quicksilver had been quick enough, he probably would have noticed the Decepticon logo on hers as she flew past.
"Well, looks like this place isn't a total loss after all, got me some ground hogging Autobot to reduce into slag..."
Wheeling round at the other side of Independence Port, giving Quicksilver about 20 seconds to realise what was about to occur.. -
Quote:I'm just saying that the crafting system that CoH uses isn't really that complicated, it's a case of opening a window, clicking on a tab, looking at the salvage you need and then picking that from the menu.Oh yeah, well one time I played this other game, and its interface was really bad. You should be glad you never played it. I like to bring it up every time someone talks about a bad interface so I can, you know, put them in their place.
It's not that hard!
Compared to say most Fantasy based MMOs where you both have to know what to mine and smelt and then you usually have to forge about 3 different objects, all with their own individual pieces to make the one piece you want.
Also was that bad interface game Hellgate London?
Now THAT was a terrible interface. -
-
Shows how long it's been since I bothered levelling Engineering or played WoW.
Alright I played the latest expansion 1-76 and then gave up but never again would I both levelling engineering. -
Quote:Hush you I'm making a point!Hang on, if you're making bombs you're an Engineer and Engineers did get a Northrend AH
.
Besides ONLY engineers could use that AH if I remember correctly and nobody else, it was great for engineering parts and bugger all else IIRC so I would still have to use a major city for the Arctic Leather, which was Leatherworkers only. -
I am English and I AM drinking Tea at this moment.
So somewhat of self perpetuating stereotype. -
Eh it's no more complicated than the WoW crafting system, sheesh you people think THIS is complicated...
"Alright so I need 3 adamanite bolts, 4 Saronite Bombs, Arctic Leather and a Saronite frame...
...Right 3 Adamantite bolts, right I'll just forge these here, 4 saronite bombs, right that require 3 saronite per bomb, 4 refined gunpowder per bomb and an additional saronite casing...thankfully I've got the materials but I'll have to smelt and forge everything seperately..."
5 minutes later!
"Right Arctic Leather...oh crap now I need to go buy that from a leatherworker, ech now I've got to go to a major city to use their auction house and I'm in Northrend which doesn't have any!"
20 minutes of travel time later!
"Right, HOW MUCH! Fine jesus I'll pay your 200 gold pieces for one piece of arctic leather...damn that's a lot...ok what's last on the list," scrolls down through the engineering menu again, "Saronite frame...ah that's easy, that's just 4 Saronite bars, already mined and smelted all the Saronite I need for this, just got forge this.."
"Ah-ha it's finally done...my hyper-explosive robo Sheep is finally done...and that earned me 1 skillpoint level up."
I get some people may not have played the competition but Jaysus you people are spoiled. -
Grumpy moody Sam is grumpy and moody.
Lighten up schmoo!
You're turning into a slightly more fun version of Venture.
And nobody likes being Venture, not even Venture likes being Venture, because that's just terrible.
