I wonder though if someone buys items from one of these merchants do they get banned also?

There was probably a thread on this I missed because of weak search-fu, but whatever happened to distributing the 'new powerset for every AT' that was once advertised for the since-cancelled new box edition, among Issues 9-12?
If I9 and I10 come out with no powersets, and the devs are only considering new sets for at most 4 ATs in I11 or I12, what happened to the rest?
Not to bash this efforts, scrappers and tankers need the love first, but is there a long term plan for the rest?
[/ QUOTE ]
We did plan out Power Sets for the retail box, but we've gone the route of free updates instead (woohoo!). Yep, we had some planned...and we thought about just putting those into updates as schedule permitted...
but then we thought it'd be cool if we polled the players what they wanted first. Not all of these power sets are of equal difficulty - some are tougher than others - but they are all possible. I can't promise exactly when it'll get in, but please know that we've heard loudly and clearly that players want new power sets.
BTW...Ball and Chain was my little addition last minute. It would be just be SO cool!

I really *think* the vast majority of us would rather pay extra and get more powersets sooner than later! Give us a box set, we will give you money! -

I don't understand why people think that max tohit vs. max defense should be 50% chance to hit. Max perception vs. max stealth is, what, 5ft at level 50?
[/ QUOTE ]
Couldn't agree more. A maxed-out tank has 90% damage resistance. Resistance debuffs can reduce this to perhaps 75% damage reduction (if you have a -150% resist debuff, which takes a whole team of debuffers in consort). Defense should be about as effective; a maxed out tanker attacked by a maxed-out attacker should be hit about 10% of the time, a scrapper about 25% of the time - which corresponds to 80% and 50% damage reduction, respectively.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. Defense sets should be just as good as resistance sets. With AIM, FA, and all the other powers that dramatically increase the ability to cut through defense, there needs to be something to make these sets worth having in pvp. -

The answer to this question is that I as the attacker expect under the current system to hit 95% of the time. As the defender I expect to be missed 5% of the time. The latter half being my experience in pvp zones playing as a /ninjitsu stalker.
[/ QUOTE ]
To clarify here: Does this mean, in a perfectly balanced system, you would expect Max To Hit to always completely negate Max Defense? That's how I read what you have written.
To everyone:
The availability of To Hit buffs is a seperate question. Assume for purposes of this exercise that you have access to buffs far beyond what you would need to reach a maximum value.
[/ QUOTE ]
Absolutely not. I do not think max To Hit should automatically trump max Defense. That's what yellows are for.
No one even uses yellows in PvP, lol...accept in zones to see stalkers. They aren't necessary, that should tell you something.
Players like bubblers and SR scrappers get TOASTED in anything larger than a pentad and other players aren't even using yellows.
If anything, defense heavy sets should have some form of unresistable defense per se maybe, to put them more evenly on par with the insane amount of To Hit buff capability...or just quite simply lower the cap of To Hit buffs...because with Tactics, Focused Accuracy (a BIG problem in and of itself, it should be a click not a toggle), Fortitude, Vengeance (when stacked forget about it), etc. I will chew through defense all night long.
Maybe have To Hit buffs reach a MUCH lower cap against certain powers or sets...I don't know, but it definitely is a big balance issue.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. -
Yes.
I doubt I would still be playing the game if it was no longer here... -
HAHA! Great job! Made my morning, make more!!!

Alright so, power customization is out've the picture. Green lightning, blue fire, etc (just too hard to do).
Where they stated previously that WEAPON customization (swords, katanas, spines, things that only attach to your body) would be much much easier to do.
I suppose I can live without the whole power coloring thing, but seeing everyone with the same swords, axes, and spines sticking out've their bodies is getting pretty stale.
And it's pretty appearent in this thread that it's something people really want.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think most if not all of us would be happy if there was only one more issue this year IF that issue included power custamisation. Well, I know I would be any way. But as they have said it is not comming any time soon we are all kicking a dead horse here.
Later,

Please do not start this argument again. Many of us would not be happy with only one issue for power customization, as was stated in that garguation thread about it. Many of you would, and a good many would not, I am not sure if it is even or not, but I know there are tons on each side. It's not going to happen anytime soon, so please let this horse stay dead. -

Hmmmmm. Bug in demo record not showing spines...
Wonder if that bug can be turned into a feature at some point.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I'd roll a spines scrapper if it was. looks so much cooler.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope they don't. I am so sick and tired of seeing spines scrappers everywhere, esp in pvp zones. -
LOL - I don't even know why they bother, by the time it is updated I9 will be released.

I can completely understand why a lot of people hate pvp and are afraid to go get badges in pvp zones, but this huge gank fest they fear is a figment of their imagination...
I play on Freedom, the busiest server, I love to pvp, but I have not seen this huge gank fest anti-pvpers are so terrified of. Heck, most of the time the pvp zones are empty...I pvp several times a week and quite often when I do a /whoall search, I only see maybe five to six people.
If you are searching during peak times, you might have been unlucky enough to run into a group looking to ruin someone's day, but let me tell you, that is not usually the case. I actively look for people to pvp with and quite often it actually takes me a while of searching to even find someone to fight, and that is in Siren's which has the most people.
Bloody Bay is generally even more unpopulated! You should EASILY be able to get Shivans without dying all the time, sure some stalker or blaster is going to get you here and there, but the gank fest should and is very limited.
If you are still having problems and really need a badge or whatever, get on right before or after the servers go down, the zones are completely empty a lot of the time then.
There really is no reason at all to be upset these things are in pvp zones. They put them there so they would be more challenging to get. Unless you are turning off sprint and walking to each mission, etc. There is no reason you can't get there easily wihtout even being seen, much less attacked.
In fact I went to Bloody Bay to get my toy collector badge so that I could fight some to dull the boredum of present hunting. I found that since so few peope actually go to these zones getting all the presents was fast and easy. During the hours and hours I hunted I maybe fought ten different people... -

When is anyone going to answer on WarCry? It has been a while and Positron hasn't answered anything...
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron has put together his answers internally and we are working on getting Statesman's bio and intro stuff together. Depending on how all that goes, the next installment with that information will likely make it up to Warcry next week.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the fast response! The way the forum read it sounded like we would ask questions and the different DeVs would respond, thought it was going to be a daily thing for a short while. So we are going to get to ask Statesment questions? I really want to ask him a few things that he would be the best person to answer. -

Castle, can you get us more of an explanation on why this change (attack while held) was considered necessary? It's not going to make the raid any more challenging; the aggro tanker team is already able to stand up to the damage Hami's blasts dish out, or they wouldn't be able to survive long enough for Hamidon to be held; Hamidon continuing to blast even while held is not going to change the fundamental raid strategy one iota--especially on servers that use attackless holds where there aren't any major tanker attacks to lure the aggro away from the taunter.
All it is going to do is make raids more frustrating as our primary barometer on how to tell whether or not Hamidon is held--and is remaining held--has been rendered ineffectual.
If you don't want us to be able to get Hamidon Enhancements, why don't you just remove Hamidon altogether?
Better yet, why don't you create an anti-archvillain Task Force for us the way you made an anti-hero Strike Force for the villains, so we can give up this whole silly Hamidon Raiding thing. Hamidon Raids stopped being fun shortly after everyone figured out how to beat him. Now they're just work, which you keep making less and less fun in the hope of making it less and less easy.
There is nothing fun about Hamidon Raiding. Nothing. Making Hamidon attack while he's held is only going to make it even more irritating. Rather than continue to make it even more tedious, please replace it with something that could remotely be considered fun. Retire the jello blob and bring in the AVs.

I couldn't agree more. I keep wanting to play COH, but the missions and danger zones are just not fun. I hate the fact that sking really doesn't make much of a difference because everyone wants to play in danger zones like this one. SOOooo unless I am the same level as everyone else, I usually have to play solo.
Hamidon is just plain BORING! It also gives Heroes just a HUGE advantage over villains in the fact that they can have gargantuan grous fight hamy and get hamios, when villains can only have 8 people do a SF that is 10x's harder in hopes to get the villain equivalent. I much prefer the idea of having to do the SF, but Hammy is so easy for someone to run in, attack once, then sit there and collect his/her Hammy. It's pointless and dumb... -

I guess it depends on what you're playing. I got to 40th with my stalker, solo'ing missions against Longbow in Warburg. I thought they were pretty damn easy even on the 4th diff setting. Longbow is easy because...
- No caltrops
- No debuffing powers
- No pet summoning
- No particular resistances to anything
- No healing other than some bosses
- No holds, imob, or sleep other than the rare stun or web gernade
- No phase shifting or teleporting
- No self rez'ing
Hmm, maybe I'm missing something, but I think they're the easiest fraction in the game at all levels. Arachnos are way more dangerous, especially the Crab Tankers that have Lethal Resistance. You can AS them with your claws, but that just seems to make them mad.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is my experience as well. I had no idea that Longbow were "overpowered". I've taken them out, solo and in groups, with my Corruptor and MM.
Actually, I always considered them the easy group, like the Council over in CoH. Whenever I'm not in the mood for a big challenge like, say, CoT, I pick a mission that should go smoothly, like Longbow.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've always thought the same thing... I always thought they were the easiest group of them all... -
I think this is a good idea.
I do not think Enhancement Diversification is a good idea. In fact I think it is a horrible idea. I already posted why on it's own thread. -
I just watned to chime in here and say you all did a FANTASTIC job with this event. My Super Group and I had a blast doing this! (Fighting the giant lvl 50 pumpkins was really fun too)
