Quote:I was sorry to hear that characters getting xp in the MA system was keeping you up at night. Maybe you could think of some more ways that something that isn't effecting you but is maybe enjoyed by other people could be nerfed too. Ofcourse you could always try counting sheep instead.I'm actually serious. After the Ally Nerf, why not do this? If the devs are concerned about exploits for PLing, why not just cut out all the time and effort they are doing in order to plug holes in the system?
Kill XP in the Mission Architect.
It was a nice try, we appreciated the idea of being able to go from 1 to 50 in AE - but maybe it is more trouble than it is worth.
I'm not saying that we necessarily have to kill rewards in the AE system. Tickets have become a very important part of the marketplace and economy, and inf/prestiege rewards still make the system somewhat attractive for those who want rewards for their efforts.
But fixing the XP exploits is pulling manpower away from other features and patches which could sorely use some love. Exploiters love to talk about how the devs will "never stop us!!!1!!11", maybe it's time for the devs to put that boast to the test.
Just a thought.
NB: I am not complaining about "farmers", folks who feel like they want to repetitively experience content in order to force rewards. I recognize that farming, for good or ill, is something that the in-game economy and marketplace is essentially reliant upon. I am talking about exploits, which goes beyond farming, IMO.
In short... don't let it bother you, and stfu. -

I said... "if you have the attitude that a defender should be blasting more than defending..."
..which does infact coincide with your statement "People contribute to teams by doing damage", and "If you don't do damage, you don't contribute"
Where as I have plenty of toons that don't do damage as they are designed for teams, they contribute alot to many TF's.
So don't say "Highlighted portion is demonstrably untrue" because that is simply your opinion and that's where it stops.
My experience might differ to yours however I am able to aknowledge that... instead of saying that my "opinion, is the truth", like yourself. -
Hi, thank you for all your replies... would like to reply to a few comments

Damage is part of the Threat formula. Doing more damage will help you to keep aggro.I was thinking that you hit taunt and that was it.

People contribute to teams by doing damage.
The way I look at this attitude is a wasted slot on the team.
But anyway not all heroes should be"contributors"
This is what you're saying and I vehemently disagree
regular team player on Union. Let me fill in your gaps....
Teams win by.... Doing Damage, Surviving attacks(tank), Stopping incoming attacks(Controller), Healing and buffing to increase team strength(Defender)
It's not all "SMASH SMASH!"... why do I get the feeling that your the token blaster/scrapper that runs off on their own during Master Of attempts that causes people to slap their foreheads. -
Quote:Just to answer some points.. and to see if you still feel the same...A few things:
1) If you're going to be perma-Granite, then you won't need Tough. You'll be at the Res cap anyways with just Stone Skin and Granite Armor on. Weave might help, but you can get the Defense from other places cheaper.
2) Slot your attacks as attacks. I know what you're trying to do, but it's just overkill on the ToHit Debuffs. Killing an enemy means that it can't hit back at all.
3) Take Rooted much, much earlier than level 30. It's your status protection power, and you'll want it earlier than that.
4) Think about swapping Recall Friend with Teleport Foe. Much easier to snag the running enemy than having to run after them in Granite form.
As a generality, I think that you've gone way past the point in survivability that you'll actually need in order to tank anything in this game (minus Psi enemies), and you'd probably be a better team tank if you could put out some damage, too.
1) Tough was never going to be toggled, it's a route to Weave and holds the Steadfast proc without using a slot up....
2) As i said at the start, "Build is for Tanking not dmg output"
3) As i said at the start, "Build is for playing at lvl 50"
4) This choice was so that I was team friendly basically -
Quote:It wasn't a problem with farming but with exploiting, so calling this a nerf (in the pejorative sense of the term) isn't accurate, now that I think about it. A fix sounds about right.
A Fix you say...
same way as to stop your dog having puppies it goes to get "fixed". -
I designed this to pretty much tank anything in game.... It will be perm in Granite form.
I looked to plug the psi hole with ranged def, -tohit and heal wih a small amount of Res.
Any thoughts on this please?
Build is for playing at lvl 50
Build is for Tanking not dmg output
Build is mainly to survive everything

Make them non combatant? or Bosses as Custom mobs named and dresses the same.

Ok I have rolled a Traps Defender... and i'm speccing it for massive defense.
Basically I want the ability to leap into the middle of the chaos and plant traps at the heart of the battle with no fear of being slaughtered. So pretty much 45% to all positions is a must have and tbh fairly easy to get.
My 1st Question is.........
What Defense do I need to be able to Toe Bomb and Trap up an AV?
My build at the moment is looking amazing and currently I have (without gimping any powers)
* 59.1% Melee
* 57.3% Ranged
* 58.2% AoE
Is this enough to safely dodge AV attacks?
My 2ndary is Dark Melee so this is not counting any -acc yet.
p.s - incase I do get hit I also have 64.7 % Res to S/L.
My 2nd Question is.........
Stealth or Hasten ??
I already have stealth IO specc'd in... so Invisibility can of course be very useful, or do I go with Hasten as that much def means it probably won't matter if mobs can see me or not. -
Quote:I have to say that I totally agree with QJ.Im sorrry but your being dumb. Yes when the AE hit the streets it was totally abused. But then they nerfed XP in it and it calmed down. THen they further introduced the SSK system which calmed it down again. Since those two changes the old days of begging in PI were comparably way worse then what has gone on in the AE. In fact the AE is mostly a ghost town now..
Dev's this is a stupid move... stop looking at this game like it's a case of you versus us.
Farming is a big part of every mmorpg, some can do it... some can't. Some put alot of effort into being the best at it as they can because it's what they like. Same for PvP'ers and Rp's .... My point is this.
If farming is what makes farmers happy.... then bloody well let them farm! -
Don't ever remember it being good for pvp.... Whenever I see a stormie in zone i just think, oh look easy kill.
-
ok cool thanks again....
Now im looking all over mids for the part that tells you what your perception is... i can only find a wee bit in the resitance list to say you have x% perception res.
Where does it tell you the ft of perception you have?? -
Ah super thanks... oh and what figure is perception cap btw ?
-
Could someone please explain simply, how you work out the ft etc, that perception and stealth work??
For example, a blaster with Cloaking device and Stealth IO can be seen by a stalker with tactics and perception IO at what distance in pvp etc etc....
How do i know when i am visible? -
Quote:I take phase from concealment pool on most of my toons, for both offensive and defensive uses... Also stealth and Invis are handy if only for a Lotg+rech and a Karma KB IO in each is a cheap(slots) way to get recharge and KB prot.Yeah, and I'm guessing your opponent will simply drop out of phase to avoid letting you kill them. Do most PvP'ers use the temp power version, or are there a lot of them who actually take the whole concealment set?
And another question: will phase shift allow you to kill an ice tank who's recharging in their block of ice?
The temp phase only allows you to phase for a fixed amout of time, so an opponent who has the concealment power could phase and drop out after you use the temp one which would still render them in a different dimention to you.
And no, Hibernation is not a phase... the target is incased in Ice and no matter what dimention you are in you cannot penetrate it. -
-
1st of all the Ench that work when you are exemped lower than their level are the purple ones... anything else you will have to have lower IO's to get the bonus...
Lotg +recharges in Sirens Call have to be lvl 33 or less. because of the (+ / -) level thing.... like slotting 50's at lvl 47 etc.
And secondly.....
To import a mids build. go to Export at the top of mids and choose data chunk.
This copies the text to your computers memory and then you can paste it in the forum as text.
Hope this helps. -
i understand that you are saying about SuperStrength but its a no brainer, it's not what this toon is going to be about, the one decided factor already is that it's going to be DarkMelee.
Pretty sure i'll go with Elec, no need for KB resistant to loadsa dmg most of all Nrg which features alot recently.
So, What pools do i need, was thinking about
Fitness
Speed
Medicine
Concealment
Or do I need Tough ? -
Quote:Few relating questions. The most durable would have to be inv tanks with wp in a close 2nd. The overall best tank would be fire/ss.
Is electric armour a consideration due to the new heal and res to sapping
Am I wrong to take Dark Melee for the self heal and self +end
Is there any point to slotting for defense for Zonal pvp? (prob on an invul)
How do I combat, Heat Exhaustion, Lingering Radiation, Inervating Field, Radiation Infection, Benumb, Assassin strikes :S
I liked the fact that an Invul easliy hits the Hp Cap, I suppose if i slotted up Numina's
I can increase the heal power of Siphon Life...
I am worried about debuffs tho, what res to debuffing does an invul have? -
Looking for a Tauntbot build and advice please.
Something for team PvP (Zonal) what tanker build is going to be the most survivable and be able to hold off a gank? well.. for the longest time anyway.
Not bothered about killing stuff, it's all about the taunt and the survive.
thanks -
Ok so I popped in the DEF procs for my pets and it seems to be having a noticable effect wich is exactly what I was after, unfortunatley the same cannot be said for the soulbound one....
Not a sausage so far, or at least i haven't noticed any difference. -
Quote:If you want recharge on your build, and if you can live with none of the defense uniques on the fire imps, you could go for 4 Expedient Reinforcements, 1 Blood Mandate, and the Soulbound Chance for buildup. You'd get 6.25 global recharge from this, as well as the build up.
Of course, if you are satisfied with your recharge from other sets (maybe you've already got 5 instances of 6.25% recharge), you could put in both defense uniques (from Call to Arms and Edict of the Master) while still getting the soulbound build up proc and 3 acc/dam Hamis.
Lewis
hehe you have just quoted what I have slotted(Expidents) + what I am changing to (Def procs + HO's)
I have 97.75% Recharge at the moment without Hasten, 167.75% with it, so to proc my imps would drop that to 91.5% + 161.5% which I think is a pretty good compromise.
