WillT here. Nice reviews, thanks! And I suppose the dwarves DO have kinda tiny feet. Hrm. (Sort of stuck between tiny feet or big honking flappers).
Minor note:
I've changed the Choppers to be /willpower. While I really enjoyed their minor hold ability, it has the potential to stack in a very nasty manner, particularly against players lacking mez protection. Come I15, I'll probably give them back their original secondary, assuming I can avoid picking mez.
Oh, and if it wasn't clear... part 3 is up \/

Apparently pets no longer give XP when used in custom groups.
Did I miss this in notes somewhere?

Two scoops... of DOOOM!
(BAB, we need ice cream scoop weapons for Dual Swords...) -
I actually use that map and work in an explanation for why the front is empty. But... probably more useful to put spawns in.
-
What's funny is that they made some NICE changes to limit defenses.
For example, for a long time I was avoiding giving any minions (and most lt.s) Willpower or Super Reflexes, because both got a +per power even at standard. Which sucks for stealthers -- if I want an anti-stealth character, I want the freedom to design them that way.
Well, now, standard version of WP, at least, doesn't have the +per power. Yay! -
Dev's Choice don't earn tickets, they are treated like normal missions.

That's why you send a private message to the moderator asking for clarification.

Trick:
When trying to do placement of an object, create an object named Front, change the number of them to however many Front spots there are. Do the same for Middle and Back.
If need be, create some dummy groups: Front/middle/back, do the same.
Can help you map out where stuff is. -
I've been around (off and on) since the beginning, and I hadn't realized Issue 1 came after the start. Der.
Ok, amend what I said, please! -
Here's a quick tip on forums:
Don't argue about the decisions of moderators on the forum. If you have an issue, send them a message.
Saying their decisions is stupid is a sure way to have a short forum career. -
It takes a special kind of brilliant to hurl invectives at moderators.
Kudos! -
I think custom critters are higher risk, so should be higher reward, generally.
And then, the ease of use of AE should be reflected in lower reward.
Ideally, the set-up of maps should affect rewards. While I'm not sure the current system does so right, I'm also not sure it's possible to do much better without human oversight (IE: an implausibly large staff of arc readers) -
There's a difference between stating you think something is a flaw and ranting about how lying jerk-wad devs have killed the game.
-
You know, the constant acerbic, insulting spew about the developers is really tiring and dull.
-
Everquest has a faction switching system that essentially is like a 'reputation grind.' You take a particular series of missions from a particular person. You slowly become the enemy of your faction.
Then you take a long trip to a particular other person from the other side, who then has missions to earn you minimal respect with that side... at which point you are 'converted.'
Which is a lengthy way of saying that I suspect there will be specific missions to 'increment' heroism/villainhood. -
It's funny. The only change so far that's cheesed me off is the removal of chicken tug.
Why? WHYYYYY?? -
Yeah, go figure. Content they are going to sell us, as the second expansion the game has ever had, may eclipse the 13th free content improvement they've released.
Gasp! -
I'm surprised they don't lazy out and do something like 'dual mace.'
Just lethal > smashing, use same animation but with batons, and there you go!
(Actually, come to think of it... that WOULD be kinda neat...) -
Uh. How did he deal with ranged characters before?
-
You can keep repeating it, but it doesn't make it true.
MA has been a fantastic success, and one that's provided a shot in the arm to a game that's going to face some stiff competition. -
I was not addressing that because it's clearly unrelated to the core idea.
'We'll solve X farming by renaming it Y' doesn't actually solve anything. -
People play MMOs to get a mix of things, with people varying in what they like (and often varying over time with what each person wants).
Yes, people want to experience stories. They also want to get XP to boost stuff. This may be the exact same goal people play outside AE.
Saying 'if you're interested in story, then who needs XP' is a bit silly; if ALL I wanted was a story? I'd be off reading, not peeking at highly limited microprose.
