My feeling on why the overview there felt on the light side is because, well... we wern't supposed to see it yet. My guess is that it's an incomplete overview not ready for us to see yet. Didn't talk about new powers or proliferation, even for the market, any other changes or additions, etc.
It's short enough to make me think this isn't everything we'll see in i23. -
The 8 months part is probably realistic. The part about costing ten grand? Probably a lowball number, since you'd need to pay at least three or four developers to work on it at various points (Synapse, obviously, but also Tunnel Rat for animations and probably some others too). Start doing the math... and it's really not very much. Maybe two months salary assuming normal pay scales for one programmer in California (high cost of living there, remember). Stuff's expensive, yo.

Woo, Crow is drawn! Can't wait to see her!

Maybe use a lower watt bulb? What are you using, 100 watt?

Quote:At the same time, concern for humanity doesn't necessarily translate into concern for the individual. He is a Titan, and in Greek mythology Titans and Gods alike were capable of callousness on a staggering scale. He may see the sacrifice of a hundred or a thousand humans as perfectly acceptable if he learns something about the opposition. He lacks humanity. And remember that the mythological Prometheus did indeed seem to have at least some genuine concern for mankind (thus the whole stealing fire to give it to humanity bit), although centuries and millenia could certainly have twisted that significantly.
Do I believe the Prometheus that stands in Ouroborous? Mostly, but it's very obvious he withholds much more than he reveals. His association with Ouroborous itself is a bit suspicious, too. I tend to believe the Dream Doctor much more than I do Mender Silos, and that extends to Silos's associates, including Prometheus.
My other theory is that he used to be vying for the same status the Well of the Furies currently holds. He wanted to hold that status of being the mouthpiece and broker for the collective human potential and subconscious... and he lost. In the conflict with whatever entity the Well of the Furies once was (and I do believe the Well used to be someone. Maybe the first Incarnate, or Gilgamesh or the first hero or whatever), he ended up the loser and chained to a mountain for eons. -
A thing to remember with Prometheus from mythology: he's a trickster and a liar. He's fooled the gods before. The stealing fire from the gods to give to humanity was the final straw and Zeus (y'know, Stateman's former incarnation?) chained him to the mountain with the eagle for it. Don't trust him.
As for Arc 7... I had a lot of fun on it.The 3rd and 5th missions were really cool, and I liked the press conference bit at the end.

Really? Huh. Thought they were a weird version of Chest Details that included decorating the arms.

Another couple of pieces I'd love converted over to players I noticed today: the tattoos, skirt, and shoes on the Merit Vendor in Croatoa:
How is she even getting those on a Top with Skin, anyways? O.o -
Cool, thanks. I just hadn't heard about it in some time so wanted to check.

I've always wanted to be able to do a Macross Missile Massacre move on some of my characters, like how the Zeus Titans and the way the Praetorian Heavy Troopers used. I distinctly recall when i19 hit, back before the Heavy Troopers got the unfolding backpack and stuff, they would just cover the screen with missiles going everywhere to the point that some people had a hard time seeing with the dust and smoke and missiles in the air. They seem to have toned that down with the later versions. But it'd be awesome if players could do that, like a targeted AoE that fires off this barrage of missiles that hammer an area. Not sure what the point of animation would be on players. Shoulders? Forearms/hands?

I have a question about the Absolute Amazement chance for ToHit debuff proc IO. A while back I'd heard it was broken or bugged or something, and heard alternatively that it didn't work at all or applied its debuff to you instead of, y'know, the enemy. Is it still broken or bugged, or is it working now?
-
Yeah, I'd love a flat out Beam of Energy or something.

Quote:Like the guys who take all the Empathy powers AND the full Medicine pool?I have encountered people that actually do deliberately gimp their characters. When it happens it's nearly always been Emp characters where the player has specifically focused on the healing powers and made a point to take as few offensive powers as possible by taking as many non offensive power pool powers as possible. A good warning sign is someone who is rockin the aura for no reason outside of combat.

One thing I don't really do is make a thing out of the Incarnate stuff. I never refer to my characters as Incarnates in-character, nor do I claim they're becoming super-powerful because of it or say they're empowered by the Well or whatever. Like in Dark Astoria when I ran into another roleplayer and we just started chatting he mentioned the whole Incarnate thing, my character (who's rather cheeky and has an ego with it's own gravitational field) just grinned and said she's just that awesome as to be able to take on monsters the size of a bus.
This is entirely a stylistic choice of my own, since I've always preferred plucky, determined badasses over raw power. They're the ones who come out with blood on their faces and knuckles raw and a look in their eye that tells you they'll take on the world, and they're stubborn and determined and crazy enough they'll win. I prefer to be Odysseus and Theseus and Hercules and Spiderman and Captain America over Zeus and Superman. I find it a lot easier to roleplay and write, as I find too much power hems me in. I can't, say, send a bunch of ninjas or Fifth Column patchwork supersoldiers at a Superman and have it feel like a threat. But at a less powerful character, sure!
But this is entirely a choice of my own based on my own tastes and style. -
I wouldn't call it "purposeful gimping." Do I build to concept? You bet. I also rationalize a lot within that concept and try to build the best build I can that still fits my concept.
Does this sometimes mean some slight tweaks to my concept? Sure. But a big part of my concept working is if the character is fun to play. And I try to fit my concepts into what I've got available in terms of powers and resources available to me and the game world.
It's not something I've really run into much, like having to skip major powers or travel powers because they don't fit. Most of the incarnate stuff I can handwave, since I really don't play my incarnates as demigods or make much reference to that element. They're just that badass that they can go toe to toe with demons, monsters, and giant robots using the powers they got, guts, skill, and sheer grit. Easier to write for, and more fun for me. I like my characters to have to work for their victories, and do awesome stuff getting it.
Like Vorpal Judgement on my low powered scrapper? She's low powered, yes, but she's also dual blades and capable of blindingly fast bursts of movement. The Lore Warworks pets become her training program. On my Kheldian powered robot, the Clockwork pets become Kheldian energy constructs, created by him briefly shoving his fist into a Clockwork and briefly surging Kheldian energy through it to learn how to reconstruct it on the fly.
The only one that gives me trouble is Destiny on my scrapper, and that I just handwave as kind of her sheer superhuman toughness going into overdrive or an abstract "grit your teeth, dig in your heels and keep fighting."
Actually, the one time I've skipped a power was on my Titan/Electric Brute. I skipped the tier 9 Electric Armor power because turning into a gremlin really didn't fit my heroic automaton's concept. -
Since I like space battles and Task Forces...
I'm assuming this as either a three mission Task Force or a three stage, three map single team/small team Trial. The feel I'm going for is more like an elite, powerful strike team than a charging horde of superpowered redshirts. So possibly only one full team, if possible.
Task Force Dreadnaught
My general idea is to recreate the feeling of being in a battle much larger than ourselves, with heroes and villains battling across and into a massive alien battleship even as allied forces like Vanguard try to take it down. Possibly in space. I have this image of a Vanguard orbital platform and this huge alien ship exchanging fire.
The players drop onto the hull of the ship (the actual spawn point is about 30 or 50 feet in the air above the deck) with the battle already raging. One of the big dangers of this first stage is environmental: you've got Vanguard jets or orbital platforms or whatever performing runs on the ship. So if you don't pay attention, you could wander into their strafing runs or strikes from their guns.
In the first stage, the objective is to get inside, even as the deck guns turn on you. A bonus objective is to take out the bigger guns to help the Vanguard forces, and maybe knock out the shield generator.
Second stage is fighting your way through the ship, disabling systems as you go as the ship's internal security tries to contain and stop you.
The final stage is the free for all battle royal on the ship's bridge between your team and the ship's captain and officers, even as the ship begins to burn around you as the military and other heroes are able to take the upper hand thanks to all the damage you're doing.
EDIT: The general thing I'm going for is that you're not just taking on bigger foes, but doing stuff nobody else would be crazy enough to try because you're just that awesome now. You attack alien dreadnoughts by tearing out the big guns and storming the bridge in the middle of a raging battle. You take on epic monsters of colossal scale. You are willing to show the universe exactly who the hell you are. Being powerful isn't just about doing more damage or being able to flick your wrist and make stuff happen. It's about being a badass doing it. If we're going to be demi-gods, we might as well be doing the craziest, coolest stuff we can.
EDIT2: Also, I use the spaceship idea because, well... we can't fight across zeppelins. And people would poo poo that as "Oh, fighting across a giant war zeppelin is beneath us!" Fine. Your giant war zeppelin is now an alien dreadnought! -
See what Angelxman81 said above? That stuff. I've got a few things to add to the list:
Tsoo: The Naginata staff they carry. Second on the glowing tattooes and their female top. Both a tattoo'd version of the top female corset and a non-tattoo'd.
Knives of Vengeance: Their back capes. Not just the bigger loincloth like ones used by the bosses, but the short echelon pattern back only ones used by their lieutenants. And, y'know, their goggles, harnesses, belts, holsters, etc.
Talons of Vengeance: Seconding the request for their corset/cuirass tops. Also that long hair used by their snake women (like the Gorgon in First Ward).
Also, I want the [SPOILERS]'s lantern staff. -
If we get Banished Pantheon Lore pets, will they be a scaled down Ravager for the boss (like at most the size of an HVAS) and a Defiler (damage LT) or a (scaled down to man-sized) Totem or Mask (support LT)?
Not sure what'd work with Knives of Vengeance or Talons of Vengeance, though it'd be kinda cool to be able to call, say... the ghosts of the Knives of Artemis in as a Lore power.
Another idea for a Lore power:
Devouring Earth: A Devoured for the boss and either a Guardian (damage LT) or Fungoid (support LT) (both scaled down to more manageable sizes)
As for the topic of the enemies with ranged attacks we'd love on our melee sets, like the shockwaves from Knives of Vengeance/Syndicate Dual Blades and Titan Weapons enemies... I kind of have an idea, that might recycle those animations. Have an epic set for scrappers/brutes/tanks/stalkers with those attacks, where the animation that plays depends on your weapon set, with a generic animation for non-weapons users. It's just recycling the animations from the current powers, and the same stats, so nothing major needs to be changed. If you could get epics customizaiton working, that'd be awesome for this.
The best part about that idea is it'd help with the issue of redraw and epics. Like, if my dual blades scrapper uses Shurikens, she's gotta redraw her swords afterwards. But this? No redraw.
No idea if that's viable, but throwing it out there. I've always been a fan of variety in the tertiary/epic sets, because I feel they really help add flavor, versatility and a certain something to a character. -
Agreed, Ion. Some of the new enemies attacks are great, and I'd love if we ever got hold of them, either as alternate animations for existent powers or some other attack or special power.
Like I was fighting Talons of Vengeance, and a Sibyl dropped a meteor on me. It was like the War Walkers orbital beam charge up with the flashing red ground, and then suddenly a big boulder falls on me. I want that power. That weird lightning storm thing they've got too. Bunch of new stuff.
Heck, I want a lot of their powers. I want to have a Judgement attack that incorporates the Piranha Plant mass attack of Mot's in the Diabolique trial.
... of course, I also would love an Epic for Controllers that contained a few moves from Street Justice and/or Dual Pistols. -
Just you wait until we have to face the incarnate-level Turrets of Vengeance.

That's an interesting question. Another one is: when he's talking to you, those two angels flanking him start giving him unhappy looks, and Prometheus starts getting nervous and rather angry with you. This is not a line of questioning he likes you broaching with him... and neither do his friends.
Or are they his minders? -

Quote:You know, this explains a lot about your tank's general squishiness. For the record, though, my blaster has no enhancements in him at all, not even SOs. I never got into managing that side of character development in my two years of playing the game, and while I do eventually want to get him and the rest of my characters enhanced... eh.
