Quote:you can chalk that up to people getting 3 more free power slots and 2 free respecs. Thats why it sold for so muchMy Decimation acc/end/rech finally sold.
It's been listed for 16.1 million for at least 3 weeks... nearly a month... and then it finally sells for 32 million. Go figure. -
Quote:From what I recall the duration got severely curtailed too, on top of added recharge to keep them from being perma cast, which I can understand but I feel the developers went way overboard. A 4 min recharge with a duration of 15 seconds is horrific. They could have left the duration at 30 seconds and just upped the recharge to 4 min like they did but they always overnerf and then years later go...OOPS and un-nerf stuff....way after people stopped playing the AT and said AT then has gotten a bad rap as it were (see electric armor, trick arrow, etc...I hear you. It actually is possible to hit soft cap with a build for Grav/Rad, but the problem I fear you're going to run into is keeping up your endurance. You could consider the Mu PPP for Power Sink or one of the other +Endurance powers.
The Controller AoE holds are not as bad as they may seem. The nerf was to Recharge and Accuracy. Massive recharge and +accuracy powers or IOs make them very accurate and give them good uptime. The build I posted has the Recharge at about 61 seconds; with the highest level Spiritual alpha boost, that becomes about 46 seconds if I'm doing my math right. With Power Boost in play that actually makes your AoE hold figuratively perma (duration 44 seconds) although you would still only use it probably only one per group.).
As you mentioned you can work around it as you did in your build with insane costs in sets, which the game isn't supposed to be balanced around. I DO like how you worked this out and it has given me some ideas for sure!
I just remember some time ago in the controller & corruptor forums people were talking about getting 30%ish defense to specific types for survivability and was wondering if that's still viable, though maybe your idea of mega-massive recharge is the way to go to just perma aoe holds and stuff. I'm thinking more task force oriented then solo here... -
Thanks for the ideas behind that build. I was considering stuff like ranged defense or some melee defense for when you don't have time to get off the long cast of RI and are on a faster moving team but you have an interesting strategy here. I just couldn't find any decent sets for melee defense in the ranged damage sets etc..
I do have hasten on Djeannie to go with AM and was looking at some of the recharges you have listed. Purple sets are beyond me currently as they are still too expensive and I'm not filthy rich...yet
I've read by a few people that they say choking cloud isn't good for grav/rad but no reason as to why. I have used that on my test native to decent effect but of course having to get into melee range as a squishy can be fatal even with aoe holds.
Ever since the Devs gutted the aoe holds I find them less then stellar and I hate "oh crap" button powers. EMPulse is like the best aoe hold there is and it's not even in a primary -
Quote:Why didn't we get a cool power for that, something like "Gravity Well" that would suck all mobs into a pile against a stationary sphere of gravity that you created somewhere.... that'd be cool.Yeah, this. The other problem with Gravity besides the animations is that it has to wait so long for the "soft" control that every other set relies on so heavily. Illusion waits until level 18 to get Phantom Army, but everyone else has Ice Slick, or Stalagmites, or Seeds of Confusion. Gravity doesn't even get an AoE sleep.
EDIT: seeing as statesman weakened the singularity a great deal, almost 50% some years ago, can we please get 2 singularities as pets? You still can't heal them last time I checked, unlike other controller pets. 2 Pets would go a long way in helping underpowered gravity compared to the other controller sets.
I see alot of people saying "grav is great when paired with...." well so is every other set when paired with whatever. Gravity Control needs to stand on its own as strong as the other sets and currently it fails in that regard spectacularly. -
This is correct. The villain epic pools are only unlocked once you earn the badge associated with one of the 4 patrons. You only need 1 badge to unlock all 4 pools and you get a free respec out of it but you will have to go villain to do so.
-
After doing a forum search I've not found any up to date Grav/Rad builds. I've not touched my grav/rad in like over a year and want to respec her to be more survivable using sets etc..
What suggestions do you all have for what to slot and how to add some +def or other things to boost survivability?
Thanks -
Quote:Any controller could do multiple pets until the Devs created masterminds, then controllers were nerfed to 1 pet only ever, except for fire which gets 3 of the little hypermonkies out.Used to be that certain /kin controllers could get multiple instances of a pet out: 3 singularities, 6-9 imps, etc. Is this sort of stuff still possible given enough recharge?
Thanks.
I used to run around with 3 sings out on my grav/rad all the time and rarely I could get a 4th out for a very very short time.
Really miss the days of 3 singularities. Was a blast. -
Quote:Fixes to gravity? when did someone say they were going to fix gravity. Are these the same kind of "Fixes" that statesman did years ago, where he gutted the crap out of the Singuarity's resists and yet didn't add anything back like the ability for the singualarity to get healed? If those are the kind of "Fixes" then they can keep them.I would pick whatever fits your concept. Both combinations are capable of soloing.
However, if we were to look at the "numbers" with the minimal investment, Ill/Rad comes up on top. The combination of indestructible pets (Phantom Army) and Rad's heavy debuffs and -regen makes Ill/Rad a great combination at taking down hardened targets.
If this is your first controller, Grav/Rad will take more effort and investment to set up. I personally wouldn't roll a Gravity controller until its revealed what "fixes" it will get in the future. -
Heh yeah they remind me of kicking an electronic puppy noise. <BAP> <broo?!><squee!><breep!>

ah didn't realize they got a pass over with i19....I do agree both would be nice to see used.

that the hallways leading into Pocket D have had a makeover. Brick textures and large brown tile floors instead of the old greyish tiles and corrugated warehouse walls

Just redid this with my same MA/Regen scrapper but this time IO'ed out quite alot. Full sets everywhere though no purples. melee def at around 37%+recharge of +55 and a winters res vs slow. With this setup I was able to take her down solo without dying. I did have to use every power I had and one of my heals 2x.
The range was nice in that she did miss almost all of her sword attacks. The aoe slow still hit when she did the rain thing but the +55 helped mitigate that to only -80% or so on the second application of it.
Very tough fight for melees without a fair bit of defense. -
Quote:Hahaha...I read that and laughed so hard at the truth of it that I cried....then I remembered how my regen was back in the good old days and just cried.Well, not exactly poor, but not nearly what it was in the old days, when it was Willpower.
That said, regen gains a lot from the Alpha slot Spiritual Radial Paragon enhancer. Indeed, most of the resist/heal based powersets will see somewhat better results from the Alpha slot compared to more traditional power-houses.
Anything that boosts recharge AND heals at the same time? That reeeeaallly helps regen. Since it's not regen anymore, it's 'Self-Heal with Clickies'. -
Quote:Christ did the devs gut the hell out of Regen! IH when it was a toggle was glorious!!! /SIGH. Wish we had gotten some compensation instead of nerf after nerf after nerf to the set. Far too binary for my tastes these days with IH only lasting a pissant 90 seconds and MoG lasting 15 seconds.Change for the sake of change would piss me off, plain and simple. Regeneration as a set is fine. Yes, it's not the Regeneration some of us old timers remember, but I've long since made my peace with that. It now is what it is and what it is is fine. Yeah, I'd cope if Instant Healing was a toggle, but why? Nostalgia? As for random changes in some completely different direction, no. Seriously, no. Plus disallowed by the cottage rule.
With that out of the way, I agree that change just for the sake of change would irk the hell out of me too. -
Quote:Agree.This brings up another issue for me related to melee. For a lot of people, since IOs entered the scene, defensive T9s have been excised from their build, depending on the power set of course. We used to debate weather to have Unstoppable in builds because it was highly situational, the crash was harsh and people didn't like risk. Those debates stopped almost altogether since IO's and softcapping Def "solved" the issue and Unstoppable became even more situational and a lot stopped using /taking it.
As I said in another thread about the Apex TF, the situation is changing again. Gameplay is changing. The Apex TF finale can be really unfun for a Stoner. It's not easy to casually 'dodge' fire from the sky in Granite. It's downright cruel to ask someone to mange tanking, constantly teleporting, watching their teammates and attacking at the same time (because no one wants to spend the fight being on Taunt-bot).
IMO, the defensive T9s as a whole need to be re-examined if we're expected to depend on them again. The devs have been changing the way the game is to be played, and a lot of the T9s weren't even that optimized for the the way players were/are really playing the game.
The devs want us to start using these T9's again, I get that. But I maintain that a number of the T9s really need to be updated for today's and tomorrow's game; Granite and Unstoppable being two examples.
.
<unzips pants...pees on MoG> Like MoG will do anyone any good at 15 seconds uptime ROFL. ^_^ -
Quote:Captain, I'm forced to agree with the Dr....I think my concern in completely justified. Just like the i19 TFs they've added another bit of content that's hard just for the sake of being hard. She drops freakin' CANDY CANES, not PvP IOs. It's supposed to be a fun part of the Winter Event. We have difficulty settings for people who want a harder fight, it shouldn't be forced on everybody, and having a disclaimer in the flavor text doesn't excuse it.
I don't like the trend I'm seeing here: missions that dump all over melee ATs, are hard for the sake of being hard (while we have difficulty settings for that) and that don't have rewards proportionate to the increased effort.
.
I think Johnny has a valid point here. She's only dropping 5 candy canes not some leet skeet oober IO. She'd wipe the floor with snaptooth without breaking a sweat and he's not a pushover.
While I understand that some AVs should be easier for ranged people then melee she goes beyond that in a "fun" event. I'd suggest toning her down a bit in the melee department. Her ranged will do enough damage to any squishy it hits to keep her challenging and most squishies don't benefit from max defenseI'm positive my electric tank would just get stomped on without any trouble by her as I'd always get hit by her attacks and slowed incredibly.
Her LEWT should be upped too, 25 candy canes or so if she stays in her current iteration.
Quote:I just ran it on my level 25 copy of my Claws/WP Scrapper and managed to take her down without dying. I used some insps and hit and ran. Staying in melee with her is a bad idea. I can't muster up a lot of outrage over this since AT neutering effects like purple triangles have been in this game since Issue 1.
I wanted to try it out on an even lower level character, but it wasn't available to my level 14, much to my surprise. If the copy tool is working, I'll try on something between 15 and 20, and maybe something between 20 and 24. My initial assumption is that it's a level 20+ option only.
Edit: I tried it on a level 17, and it wasn't available, then on a 22 it was. That pretty much confirms level 20+ for the new mission. Looks like my lowbies can sit this event out, since I had all of the old stuff, save for Lord Winter's realm, on them all.
EDIT: I'd love to see a L20 go against her....she'll **** them to death. Poorly slotted defense or poorly slotted attacks or meh slotting to both = very dead.
I always thought the slotting in this game was backwards. You should be getting 3/level in the earlier levels then slow down to 2 per after that, basically swapping the way it's done now. or perhaps a merge so that some levels it's 2 slots and others it's 3.
Example:
L03 = 2 slots
L05 = 2 slots
L07 = 2 slots to 3 slots
L09 = 2 slots
L11 = 2 slots
L13 = 2 slots to 3 slots
L15 = 2 slots
L17 = 2 slots
L19 = 2 slots to 3 slots
L21 = 2 slots
L23 = 2 slots
L25 = 2 slots to 3 slots
L27 = 2 slots
L29 = 2 slots
L31 = 3 slots
L33 = 3 slots to 2 slots
L34 = 3 slots
L36 = 3 slots to 2 slots
L37 = 3 slots
L39 = 3 slots to 2 slots
L40 = 3 slots
L42 = 3 slots to 2 slots
L43 = 3 slots
L45 = 3 slots
L46 = 3 slots
L48 = 3 slots
L50 = 3 slots
that would give you a few more slots earlier on to help make you more solid in att/def/utility before L30. -
Ok just ran it on my mostly soft capped IOed out bs/sd and I had to use one small green due to a string of lucky hits from ice blast and she only hit me once with ice sword for...
Lady Winter slashes you with their Ice Sword for 314.32 points of lethal damage!
Lady Winter freezes you with their Ice Sword for 551.79 points of cold damage and slows you!
so 866.11 total damage as the worst hit. My bs/sd scrapper only has about 1670 hp or so as I don't have the +hp accolades yet and my bonuses are mainly aimed at +def/+rech -
Quote:What's her Greater Ice sword hitting you for? It was doing 940+ Lethal/Cold to an Invul Tanker. I can only imagine it to a Regen. Again, another run and she smokes me at melee range, but can only do piddly little 100 damage ranged attacks.
That's fail. And I'm not implying her ranged damage should be increased if a dev is reading this.
As an aside, I don't like how her "hidden level" bodes: IMO, the only reason for her using the GM code is to make sure Incarnate Level Shifts don't work against her. This means the devs are already starting an arms race against Incarnates that's splitting over into normal content. You know, you're not really "making players moar powerful" if you also make all the enemies "moar powerful" too and cancel out/nullify progress players make.
This is a holiday event mission for crying out loud.
.
Ok these were her hits on my next run. I'm sure she's debuffing cold resistance of which i have none....I do have tough vs the lethal portion with like 2 resistances slotted in it or so.
ice blast = 96.6+241.71
ice sword 1 = 201.27+434.66
brawl? = 27.03
greater ice sword = 234.49+626.46
ice blast 2 = 131.3+307.63
blizzard 2 ticks of 0.01 damage+4 tickes of 0 damage
ice blast 3 = 154.43+351.58
brawl2? = 41.49 smash dmg
ice blast 4 = 166+373.56
greater ice sword 2 = 325.09+819.22
ice sword 2 = 345.84+671.76
ice blast 5 = 177.56+395.53
brawl3? = 44.38
ice sword 3 = 369.93+711.27
greater ice sword 3 = 325.09+819.22
and then i died....
I used dull pain, reconstruction & instant healing. they were not refreshed by the time she killed me. no insp at all this time. got her down to about 50% health. I don't have hasten which would have helped but hate relying on that power to play.
her biggest hit it seems was for a total of 1144.31 damage...I have 1537.7 hp at L50 with an accolade or two, 3 sloted fast healing & health etc...
Bug? You knocked Lady Winter from their feet with your Air Superiority attack! yet she did not fall down same with stunning her. I take it she has some sort of status protection running. Squishies are going to hate her unless they can just snipe her from range and not close at all. -
Quote:It's her, not you. I think it's a combination of her melee attacks doing heavy damage and her debuffs exacerbating them.
She'll quickly kill even Tankers if you fight her toe-to-toe, but at range, she's got nothing. Hovering I took her out with Blackwand and EMP Glove and she did negligible damage to me. I'll type that again: Blackwand and EMP Glove!
FFS, that's extremely stupid.
Either she's broken and doing way too much melee damage or this is just further evidence of the devs giving the shaft to melee classes, just like in the Apex TF in i19 and just like the Protean fights.
.
just fought her on my non io'ed out MA/Regen scrapper and got the crap kicked out of me. ended up having to use some insp and temp powers to kill her...set as an eb. Hits far too hard for my regen to take care of even with IH+DP+recon as she slows the recharge down to nil. An IOed out toon won't have much problem with her I think but she's going to kick the **** out of normal folks.
EDIT 1: Fought snaptooth and he was far easier. I feel that it's the fact that I can KD snaptooth to help mitigate incoming damage and didn't knock down the Lady of Winter at all. Going to try in a bit on my bs/sd io'ed out scrapper and see how it is. -
has this been disabled? who gives the mission? I don't see father time anywhere at all :/ on test or beta servers
EDIT Ok i just logged in again and father time is now showing on my map. Does he have the same issue that the costume turn in npc (halloween salvage) for praetorians has with not showing up at times due to the way he's flagged?

Here is a nice little "Fluff" popmenu. It changes the interface colors for you
The red, blue & grey are converted from the default colors in-game.
Code:access this with /macro CLRS "popmenu IntColors"//Interface color chooser by Djeannie Menu "IntColors" { Title "Default Interface Colors" Divider Option "Red Windows (Villain)" "window_color 166 050 050 135" Option "Blue Windows (Heroes)" "window_color 050 153 255 135" Option "Grey Windows (Praetorian)" "window_color 113 113 113 135" Divider Title "Pretty Interface Colors" Option "Brown Windows" "window_color 111 073 000 135" Option "Green Windows" "window_color 000 170 000 135" Option "Orange Windows" "window_color 200 090 000 135" Option "Purple Windows" "window_color 153 051 204 135" Option "Pink Windows" "window_color 210 117 210 135" Option "Rich Blue Windows" "window_color 000 050 190 135" Option "Teal Windows" "window_color 000 155 155 135" Option "Yellow Windows" "window_color 255 220 000 135" Divider Title "Stark Interface Colors" Option "Black Windows" "window_color 000 000 000 135" Option "White Windows" "window_color 255 255 255 135" Divider }

Enjoy! -
odd it was being recursive for me, i'd hit ok and it would pop up again, then the next day it just didn't show up. So odd.

Quote:This kind of thing runs rampant throughout city of x games. Here is what should have been done to give us more options yet rarely is.Yeah... sometimes I can be an idiot. ^^;;
Still, a point remains. Why can't we use more than one color for these? Is there really an issue making the luminescent stripes a different color than the skin highlights?
Bioluminescence set in tops/bottoms -with skin as it is now (eg alpha parts so skin shows through), then another copy in tops/bottoms with the alpha part of the skin made into another color for the 2 toned look.
The Organic armor should get the same treatment.
Now if that's not quite what you mean and you want 2 colors on skin then the current tech doesn't support that as the skin is part of the colored layer and thats why we get things like the Cimmeroran boots and gloves that are either 2 colored and cover the hands/arms/feet/calves totally or show skin for the hands/arms/feet/calves and yet are only allowed 1 color.
Costume creator is getting long in the tooth, needs an overhaul badly.
- 2 colored overlays on skin layers.
- thigh category, like shoulder category. (for upper legs)
- overlay items for gloves/boots (like chest details)
- neck category, like shoulder category but neck items only
- non cape/wing back details. (backpacks/jetpacks that turn on/off as you fly/jump, weird tech backpacks, spines & other things down back)
- Proliferate stuff to the skin selection tabs so the "I need to make a rainbow skinned hero to make costume parts look like skin is showing through" can be ignored for normal skintone people or return the skin colors to the normal color selection.
- cut out the "this part isn't available in that section/tab" crap that is all over the place where applicable.
-
Just tried to log into the normal training room and got this error, using both patchers...
Error writing -1 bytes to file <path to coh>\CohTest/tempfile
You may be out of disk space or you may be trying to install to a location where you have insufficient permissions."
Now, a few things about this. CoX is installed on a partition and not in the x86 directory (windows 7). I have over 250 gigs free on that drive. CoX update files are in xp compatibility mode and have admin perms so that's not the problem either AND I was able to update for the CohBeta server just fine and can log into that and Live just fine also.
Anyone else getting this problem today? -
Quote:Ah I see, so it's required that I shell out 40 bucks or so to keep doing task forces with my friends. Gotcha! /rolleyesWell aint they going to fix that situation in GR , your friends can go over or you can go over .
But the last line is the thing its the rewards and ITF had been nerfed cause of that reason .
So if playing with your friends isn“t good enough other then the reward merits .
Then you have to think are they your friends or should they even consider you as friend.
Who cares if the rewards are reduced when you are playing the same missions over and over its called farming .
Nothing against farming , but then you all move over to next farm when that rewards is beter . we seen it happen all over again and again .
It's so funny that you immediately jump that playing with my friends without merit rewards is not worthwhile. Guess what? they don't play vside and I do, so that leaves co op stuff for us to do and we all want to advance our characters and the only way to do that on the red market (if you don't want l50 recipes, which i don't) is to "Farm" up merits and then buy the recipes that are not for sale or when they are, are stupidly expensive (kin combat anyone?) so I'll need just around 2400 merits to do that.
