BRUTE=Overpowered Scrapper
TANK=TANK lol
Brutes do more damage but can't take nearly as much as a tank can. So it's all your opinion.
EDIT: also ignore this crap about it being the worst build for brutes or whatever, unless your doing pvp you really don't need to worry about it. If you know how to play with your toon and your team, you can take on the world with any build. -
I never said that you were dumb, I said that QUOTE: "Now the reason I use the term freeDUMB is because the majority of people over there that I have personally ran into think there is only one way to do everything." by Desitre.

ROFL @OP. To answer your question, no it was not wrong that is how people learn. This thread is pretty awesome to read. It brings up the problem a lot of people who are experienced have when they are finding a PuG.
It's not your elec/elec, you are completely correct about people having their crutch. AE has become the biggest cause of all this. We have people who are farmed to 50 on one toon on their first day. Those people ask questions to these farmers who are all USING THE SAME FRAKING BUILD. So we have newer players who think they know how to play this game and go and make a new toon to actually play the game when in fact they have no skills in:
1. Teaming and(this is the best part, you brought it up when u were examining the teammates to see who would be the weakest and draw the most aggro) knowing how their toon plays and how their teammates play.
2. Finding Steel Canyon
3. Since they have already been told how to play the game by one person they shut themselves in and become cocky a-holes.
Back when I learned how to play mmos and this game(this was my first I just quit a lot to try new games but I always seem to come back) We learned by READING our powers, and working together. If anyone got out of hand we would show them first hand what they are doing wrong like you did when you ditched the team to die.
I recently made a toon on freeDUMB to see what things were like, meet new people, and all that good stuff cause pinnacle has been slow lately. Now the reason I use the term freeDUMB is because the majority of people over there that I have personally ran into think there is only one way to do everything. I was told that fire fire tanks are useless unless they get IOs. I called BS. I explained that I can use a tank with just SOs and run any TF in the game. The reason I can do that is because I know how teams work in this game and it's not just a tank taking "alpha" and everyone following. There is a huge process that goes into it(thinking about making a general guide about tanking but don't know if i have time about this lol)
Anyways blah blah blah right? lol back to a point I was trying to get across but totally blanked out on. There really is nothing we can do to elp these people who are to blind to see the whole picture. The only way they will learn is by u stepping back and letting them die.
EDIT: lol Before I started this game my uncle showed me his ICE tanker and like it was said above, they were one of the worst, least liked tankers out there. Thought I would post this because I thought the few posts above were pretty dang funny too.
Second EDIT: lol I also tried confronting this dude and helping him with how to use his kb correctly, to try and use it to keep things off of him and into the main group or in the ice patch or tar patch or whatever. ect. He told me to F***-off pretty much and so I let him play like he wanted, it ended up taking twice as long to do the mission because every patch layed down wasn't able to work since we were running around for the enemies. So the ignorance is not just for us tanks, its for every class in this game. -
Quote:Ahh that's too bad, oh well never have been the biggest into villains, good luck though with it all.Actually, no, that won't work. The Abyss is one of the few zones that still has a level restriction, and you have to be at least 45 to get in. Still, you've got the rest of January to get those levels, so it doesn't rule you out.
Kane, sorry your work schedule won't allow you to participate. That domi would be a welcome addition, and really shouldn't die repeatedly with our strat as long as everyone is doing his or her job. If things go as I expect and we have a reasonable spawn time, we should be finishing around 11 or shortly thereafter. Still, if you get off earlier that night, or get home sooner, it won't hurt to check. -
I prefer shield, if I'm going to play a resistance based hero that isn't themed, i wouldn't make it elec, i would go with either fire or invul.
-
To everyone arguing about sgs and player base in them, from my experience there are two ways to go about them. (primary ways, not saying the only ways.)
1. If a sg is spamming in Atlas/Pi/ any other main city, they will need lots of tending because you then have a sg with a bunch of members yes, but if those members don't get along well or never meet eachother through events, the sg dies and requires a lot of work.
2. If a sg starts out with 3+ friends, good friends, and they invite their own friends to the sg plus people they meet in missions, they are more likely to survive because the sg knows eachother. If a sg knows eachother it means less work on the leaders because they are more likely to get things started on their own and stay in the sg.
Other things that may cause work in a sg is base, and maintaining lvl50s attention to the game, which isn't that hard. -
(lol yeah was kinda a big blame)
I blame you for not naming horses "the cow with a mohawk" -
yeah ill bring my wp/ss brute. unfortunately he's not 50 but hes like 34ish??? been awhile since ive played red side, but if im on a team it will auto to 50 and i should be fine.

well pretty good run fire kin, you should try the rikti stress test, see how well you do, its a pretty hard test, just wanted to see how well it goes on a fire/kin. The biggest threat will bee the mez.

Quote:This right HERE!!!! everything posted in here, is the reason why my server I have been a part of since 05, and many other servers have died for a lot of people. People on pinnacle, mainly vets have all done this exact thing and now that people have left for other games or other servers, these communities have died off, there are a few specific ones that are still alive but that is really it.It's my contention that the game is vastly different for people who belong to strong social networks and those who don't. This is probably obvious to a lot of long-term players. If you have membership in some of the key global chat channels, all of a sudden teaming opportunities, the opportunities to take part in task forces and raids (at almost all hours) or even to PL your alts to 22 (so you can slot SOs) become things you take for granted.
The game is vastly different for those who aren't socially active. If they are on a team oriented character, their sole source of fast xp could be pick up groups which vary in quality from good to very poor. Supergroups can help, but I find that many SGs (not all of them, but many of them) are former shells of what they once were. Long time players have many characters, and many SGs are often just warehouses for alts.
As the game has matured, I've noticed that many veterans have carved away a social niche for themselves, surrounding themselves with people with similar experience and in-game motivations. This isn't a bad thing, but these niches are often hard to crack. Public chat channels still exist and some do thrive, but I've seen more than a fair share of them become inactive or, worse yet, degrade to a level that they are only slightly better than broadcast and completely worthless as a teaming mechanism.
I have no real agenda in bringing up this topic, but I can't help but feel that this phenomenon is somewhat related to the declaration by many players that some servers are virtually empty. Certainly player populations on the smaller servers can shrink down to a handful of players in off peak hours, but I wonder if it's because those players are teaming with friends on other servers, finding teaming opportunities through their social network.
Also, I think CoH/V could be a somewhat unwelcoming game for a new player. The player base is mature and somewhat insular (which is somewhat expected for a mature game). I think it's somewhat difficult for a new player who might only have a handful of characters in their teens to match up with a group that have multiple 50s. I know there are players who go out of their way to help a new player, but eventually, even they want to play the characters they enjoy and not get stuck "baby-sitting" all the time.
Is this a problem? Probably not. It's anyone's guess on how widespread this is. And this post is based on only one player's observation, so it just comes down to my opinion. I have absolutely zero scientific fact or data that can back up my observations. However, I am a little concerned about how truly welcoming this game is for new players. Admission into one of these "gated communities" can often open up a world of opportunity for a new player, while a player without membership could see a mostly empty landscape.
Now since people have done this, they aren't really open to finding new friends, new sgs, and new channels. Because of this a server may seem dead, when it is not dead, but people just aren't playing with other people anymore.
Really unfortunate thing, and anyone who does want to look for a new sg/channel/friends just transfers to a more popular server like freedom or infinity and the other server is still pretty lame lol.
I am going no where with this, I think my brain farted rofl, I just wanted to mention this. -
Awesome, count a fire fire tank in for that hami! Wish pinnacle had the same amount of people it had back in the day.
-
Unstoppable is an OH ?!?BLEEP!?! button, if you feel comfortable with how you game now, go with hasten, but the nice thing about unstoppable lasts quite a bit for an OH !?!BLEEP?!? button. I can't really tell you which one is better because it depends on how well you play your toon, think of hasten as giving you that upperhand in trying to kill the enemies before they can even touch you.
Also if you have dull pain nicely specc'd out you can cancel out the crash of unstoppable. -
lol I teamed with u, hows the build coming along? i didnt really wanna read this huge thread so i figured i would just ask
-
I blame you for the creation of star wars phantom menace.

Happy new year pinnacle!!! hopefully this will be a good year to us all.

Quote:Well Since your a team tank I noticed that you took taunt at lvl 50 which is fine I guess for fire fire because we put out soo much AoE and DoTs to keep the aggro, but I think some perfect zingers would help.Hello everyone,
Thanks for reading. I've been playing my fire/fire tank forever and have always used him on teams. Been playing with friends for over 3 years but the SG has split up and I'm the last one to stick with the game. My current build is based off of the Scrapulous with some minor tweaks here and there. I'm able to solo fairly well but I'm sure there are changes that could be made for a better second build that would make soloing more enjoyable and thus I turn to all of you for insight! Here is my current build:
Sorry if it looks a little confusing might not have used the best export option in Mid's. Looking forward to hearing back, and I'm curious if anyone has figured out a good way to counter the +fear in burn?
Thanks,
Spadra
Mastery powers can help too, if you can fit it, Energy is nice for the physical perfection but Earth is nice also for the quicksand.
Here is a build that I had a lot of help from on the forums a while back that I'm still trying to buy. I have flight instead of sj so your combat jumping will make my build even better, but I'm just posting this so you can experiment with your slotting.

Pfft...don't worry about the rage crash, it's like what? 1second? lol I never noticed or knew there was a rage crash until I actually read a thread on the forums. If you're worried about not being able to survive because of a rage crash, go invulnerability or WP. Wp has regen that will keep u up and invul is just uber strong. I would suggest stone but then, I think to myself, yeah he'll be a god, but a god that just stares at the enemy and attacks once every 10 seconds lol.
-
Okay well I can say that for regular beta invites, if you have had your account active for like 3 months or so i cant remember exactly, that you get into the open beta. So if we already know bout those, the closed beta has already happened, or is happening....probably.
-
Awesome base! you should be proud, seems like it took more work than you said lol, love the greenery.

I have been playing on pinnacle since 05 and all my good friends have left the game, but I still have good friends on Pinnacle. I also think it is respectable for anyone who wants to leave. I created 1 toon on freedom and honestly, only for PvP. My SG C.O.R.E is DEAD!!! but I will never leave that sg. I may sound foolish to many but I have too many good memories on this server, and even when today, I get on a team, I have 10x more fun on that team than I would on any other server. Pinnacle just has that "feeling" of casualness.
If I'm transferring any toons it would be transferring a toon to pinnacle, not the other way around. Pinnacle may be very in active, but there are still people online every day, and my friends list still has 5 people online everyday on pinnacle. Yeah that may look bad since my list is full, but that's still 5 people. If any of you guys are looking for a good time on pinnacle and need a team im always in need of a team. Reach me @desitre. That's no joke I'm being completely honest, I'll even remove some of my inactive friends(inactive as have not played the game since ED)
There is some hope though, I mean once Rogue comes out we will have an increase, may be small, or it could be big. The world may never know lol -
so when will the OP be hosting it?
EDIT: cause I have a really really sexy bad *** stalker that I want to enter in the competition. -
Alright so how's this power wise, also any advice on slotting.
