Quote:This post has my Dark/Fire build, which I managed to get the S/L/E/N softcap on defense. Dark melee doesn't have as many places for AoEs, so you might be hard pressed to softcap E/N, but at least this is a good start.Having spent a lot of time lately getting my Shield tank up to the low 40s, I decided to revisit my Dark Dark tank. He was my first 50, and the most fun I had. Now that I know the joy of IOs though, I thought I would take another look at him, and rebuild him from the ground up to see what I can do.
Seems that Resistance based bonuses are damned hard to find in IOs, and Defense is much easier to obtain. But my planning skills, even with the assistance of Mids, are woefully inadequate to the task of trying to hit the soft cap for defence.
Can anyone offer any tips on this? I don't have unlimited money for the project, maybe 500 Million right now, though I am willing to work toward a target, so long as its not a multi-billion influence build.

Quote:I beg your pardon. They don't really need a 5th power pool. Heck, you could argue they don't need any power pools (aside from a PB which spends most of its time in human form).
My warshade NEEDS hasten, stealth, grant invisibility, invisibility, and combat jumping. -
Quote:Debuff resist scales with level.Hey, i have a ElM/ElA scrapper at lvl 36ish atm. i have all the armours, and according to mids i should have well over 100% end drain resistance, but instead it says i only have about 67.5% end drain res.
Also on the forums i was eading a post about SR which said you can easily reach 95% Defense De-Buff res.
now either each of the different De-Buff types has a different res cap or there's something im missing.
finally i would like to add that 67.5% end redux res is practically useless. i get totally immobilised by end draining mobs, and have no problem with end on other mobs. -
Ah-HA! I've done it. This... is complete. Notice that all the enhancements are a maximum level of 40. I re-arranged the powers so that I keep all the important ones for softcapping as low level as I can.
Hell, I could probably change some of the sets to a level of 38 so I can go all the way to 35 with the softcap on defense. What I'd need it for, I have no idea.

I lost my Granpa to cancer, and my Grandma to Alzheimers. I've lost friends to accidents that they neither deserved nor expected.
Death is still a damn funny subject. Might as well come to grips with it, we're all only here for a short time.
Watch the movie Burn After Reading. Death. Funny.
Listen to Dennis Leary. Death. Funny.
Yes, it can be tragic. But you can chose to dwell on it and be sorry for those who are gone, think fondly of the times you had while they were alive, or laugh at the ironic circumstances that resulted in a hilarious death. -
Quote:Seeing as you did, I would be forced to assume: yes. But don't you dare assume the imitation is only one direction here.P.S. Do I even have to mention the CO Acrobatics/CoX Ninja Run "coincidence"?
Regardless, competition is good for both games. CoX now has to keep up with CO's innovations, and the reverse is true. Competition is the basis for capitalism, and it is the foundation for success. -
Quote:I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but in my experience, I've had bids sit for a month without ever filling. People weren't outbidding me either, the last sale on the item was over two months ago. Then it comes down to a time vs cost comparison. I will happily wait a week (I dont think anything i've bid on has taken longer than that to buy as long as I've bid at a reasonable price) and have an extra 190mil, than have what I want now and have zero money to buy what else I need. I bought a full set of lvl 30 Obliteration recipes for maybe 50 mil total in maybe 3 days. I don't even Have PSW to slot them in yet (blaster is only lvl 30) and I already have the sets for it, but this is how typically bid/buy, I have what I need WAY before I can even slot it, so It's ready for me when I do get the power.
I'll spend my merits, thank you very much. -

Quote:Point taken. The analogy is most true of early level content. That analogy would be more compelling if I considered all existing CoX content to be the equivalent of a turd.
Fortunately I do not.
How about these for analogies:
Viewing the game on an HDTV doesn't change what happens in the game.
You can look at a pretty painting through 3D glasses, but it's still the same pretty painting.
Cleaning the windows at your office doesn't change the view of the street. -
Quote:I only spend merits like this when I want a recipe at a specific level. A lot of times, the recipe isn't available for the level I want it, so no matter how much inf I have, I can't buy what doesn't exist. The biggest thing I see that kills me is seeing people spend 200 merits on a recipe they need (say Perf Shift +end) and slotting it when they coulda bought a LoTG +rech the salvage and sold it for 200mil. They then could have bought the perf shifter for a 10th of what they made, and had another 190mil to spend on the build... I shake my head everytime. I just did this and it will pretty much finance the rest of my Ice/MM's S/L soft capped build.
Why would I want recipes at specific levels? Exemplaring purposes. The difference between enhancement value of a level 38 IO and a level 50 IO is often not even numerically noticeable thanks to ED. The difference in terms of of set bonuses means I can keep my Dark Armor tank softcapped to S/L/E/N all the way down to level 35. -
Is not but lies! Do not be fooled by the virtual reality designed to lure you in to a trap!
Television is providing stories and real content. Aeon only promises pretty pictures with which to view old content.
As my father used to say: You can polish a turd, even spray it with perfume, but in the end, it's still just a turd. -
I must admit, I am disappointed that no one recognized the John Fogerty lyrics in my OP.

Quote:Hey, that's all I was asking for. Before IOs, I leveled my character and bought SOs. I sometimes went and raided Hami and/or the LRSF for HOs.
After IOs, I leveled my character and bought SOs until level 32. Then I started investing in IOs by placing bids on the market and using planner's to propose a build. I then would farm certain TFs for merits to obtain the higher cost recipes and turn around and sell them on the market to buy the Sets I required for my proposed build. After I had obtain some recipes that could be slotted, I would find the salvage and then craft my recipes. At a sufficient level, between 42-47, I would respec one final time and place all available IOs into my build.
I'm not sure what you call IOs or how you obtain them, but they definitely require a time investment. Stating otherwise is ridiculous.
Without IOs, I would have left this game a long time ago because there wasn't anything to do ingame that was a good investment of my time.
EDIT: removed unneeded snarky snarkness.
Thanks. -

Don't fall for his tricks! Dr. Aeon can do not but lie.
Look at his "greatest" creation. What is it you see? A pleasant training experience. A means to create without bound. A virtual reality.
A LIE.
Support the Television in its crusade of truth. He promises content, not glittery lies.
I know it's true.
Oh so true.
'Cause I saw it on TV. -
Quote:Sorry Doc, I'm with the TV.What I do know is that every time you post about your friendship with the Television you affirm the importance of stories and meaning. You remind the devs that pretty pictures require stories to live. You ask for content and you tell them you don't want to wait for Going Rogue. And believe me: the devs are listening.
