Holtz and Honoree were fighting me for two to three minutes while the portals spawned rikti.
What I keep trying to say is: If you got to the point where the room was absolutely flooded, you should have just backed out, reset the mission and tried again. Don't throw your mouse against the wall then come here whining that it's impossible. -
Alright, Techbot Alpha, I don't want to hear your whining anymore. I just did the mission on my Bots/Traps with absolutely no problem at all.
I know what you're going to say. It wasn't my first time into the mission. Very true, but I thought ahead to counteract that.
I TRIED TO FAIL.
That's right, I jumped in head first, right on top of two portals. Not even targeting the portals, the two at my end died from AoE. I left the two in the back alive while my bots tore Honoree and Holtz to little bitty pieces. All I did was taunt and lay traps. No commands to my bots. No tactics. No inspirations. Bloody bumrush, and I came through without a hitch. -

The point is, in a pen and paper game, there are plenty of things a "brick," or as I would call him, a fighter, cannot do. This is the balance.
In an MMO, all there is to the game is damage. If you have an AT or a class that can deal enough damage to kill anything on its own and take enough damage to survive anything on its own, then it is out of balance.
I agree with you, Airhammer, that most people are expecting a Brick when they roll a tank. -

If I wanted to be an offensive character, I'd be a scrapper or a brute or a mastermind or anything else. I looked at the list of ATs and chose Tank because I wanted to survive anything the game had to throw at me. I want to off road in a combat zone, so I'm going to buy my Humvee, add armor plating and make sure the wheels get enough torque to carry it around.
Hey, never said I didn't have faith in you. Your comment just sounded like this:
"Ok, so you can walk a tightrope a thousand feet in the air, but I do it without a safety net."
Sure, you can both do the same thing and you're both probably just as good at walking tightropes, and you might even get across faster, but one of you is smart enough to have a safety net. Just in case. -
I was talking from the perspective of using more AoE than anything else, as tankers (my main melee AT) tend to be more AoE capable. Eventually you'd be left with nothing but bosses.
Not that it matters to my Dark Armor tank. Hell, I've jumped into the Rikti Mothership Bowl alone without trouble.

A little over the top here. One look into that room, even knowing NOTHING ELSE about the arc, and you should have thought "Hey, maybe I should prioritize on those portals."

Yeah, actually even for that character in there, Winter's True Spirit is an ice/kin/ice troller and has a LOT of hold power. Nowhere near enough to actually deal with THAT many enemies at once, but heheh.
With a melee type character with defense powers, all you have to be able to withstand is 17 enemies worth of damage. Hundreds or thousands in the room won't matter beyond 17 at a time. It gets ugly when you're down to 17 bosses, of course. -

RP isn't everpresent anymore. It's not hard to find if you know where to look, but it's certainly not the commonplace thing in the open world like it used to be.
