    just.. wow.

I completely agree. I know of some who are on now but felecia has all the money., which is why they probably arent running it.

I do. But that doesn't mean I'm like a puppet master that runs everything and tells em all what to do. It means that I give them advice, actively team with them, talk to, and have some influence over them. But it doesn't mean I always agree with them, or vice-versa.

Side note: I found out from somebody that Felecia's internet went out. Believe what you will, folks.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

WTF. Now this IS a problem. I completely agree with Budweiser here. I kind of planned my day around being there for the 8bil challenge and now you're telling me it's not going to happen?

There is you saying that you want to help the Champion server and get more events and if you could help rebuild the pvp population just let you know. Niether of which have any mention of any funds. Even if you thought you mentioned it I certainly didn't tell you no.

Anyways, like I said people donate all of the time. Silas donated 400mil just today to my Monster Mash event. If at any time you do want to donate to an event just let me know and I will be happy to take it, no doubt.
    Maybe she meant in-game tells?

    Fun with Freaks

I'm so tempted to make an MA/fire/dark. Actually no, the synergy of TT and burn might be too good.
  6. I enjoyed the gladiator match. Won a cool 20mil (And I stay undefeated!! muahahahaha!)
  7. Heh, I am not saying they won't have a big advantage, just not as big an advantage as usual.
  8. "I don't believe I have seen one person say AOW is a bad SG"
--I have seen it numerous times. Don't know what to say other than that.

"I am personally a bit curious Dave why you keep defending her?"
--I defend her because she is genuinely trying to help others. I like to see people do things like that. Sure, about 50% of her posts are not presented well, but she really does mean to do good. I don't like to see people attack her for not helping them in the way they want to be helped.

"Sadly for AOW, as long as they allow her to represent them in the way that they do then they get the reputation of being known as the SG that the psycho-whateverpeoplecallher chick is leader of. Just like I am sure my SG is known as the SG with thelongwindedwitchEventplannerchick runs. Pingus are known as the meanfuc-ktard runs them SG. EG is known as the "awesome hami guy" runs them SG. PON is known as the WhineyBeer guy SG. Intranet forums are not an exception to real life realities. People are judged by the company that they keep. Whether its fair or not, its a reality."
--That's true, but I don't think the company they keep is really that bad.

"This part makes me laugh only because if I remember correctly most of us have been deemed unworthy to even be on a team with her, more less join her SG."
--I cannot speak for Felecia, but I think she would allow you to join her SG and see what it's all about, if you are nice. Just send a tell like "Hey fel, I know we've had our differences in the past but lets just leave that behind, would you like to team for a bit?" If she wasn't busy, I am 99% sure she would accept you.

Well I think with SOs it would be much more balanced and the usual hardcore PvPers wouldn't have as much of an advantage. Which is why people like you are going to show up.....right?
  10. Great stuff Ashcraft, you always have the funniest vids/squirrel images out there.
  11. "If you're so sick o' comin' to these threads, stay out o'em. That's like gettin' pissed off at watchin' the news. You've got no one but yourself to blame for subjectin' yourself to it.

"As for the double-standard, I'm not entirely sure I see it"
--If you are unable to see the double standard, I'm not entirely sure you are qualified to post an opinion on the forums.
  12. You guys all talk about how Felecia is hurting the server. What exactly has she done to hurt it? Sure, she has caused some drama in the server, but you (and myself) are as much to blame as her for carrying it on.

All I know is that Felecia has plenty of drama-free CCs and competitions each month that you all conveniently forget. And I think quite a few people enjoy these events she runs. A very small percentage of people on champion have actually read this thread. And it seems that many of you guys just love this thread. I would be a rich man if I had a nickel for every time someone said "This. thread. is. full. of. win." So do these threads actually HURT the server? I find it extremely unlikely.

The only person I have seen post here that actually knows anything about AoW is cherry. And I think that cherry knows deep down that AoW is an excellent SG. To be honest, it is one of the most warm, welcoming groups of people I have seen in this game, and everyone is looking to help out. I know very few of you will take this seriously, but I encourage you to throw a toon in felecia's sg for just a week or so. Try it out and gain some knowledge about it before you denounce it as "a piece of ****". If you do that, and still find it repulsive, I am sure nobody will object to your opinion.

Also I'm curious, since you never actually stated it, but is this build for pvp or pve? I had assumed it was for pvp
Well, if you slot the Hecatomb in GC you can utilize the set twice every time you run through the GC-->SD-->GC-->GD chain. However, slotting it in SD will aallow you to use it only once per chain. In random running around a room, typical play you may benefit from the hecatomb set more but in a strict, prolonged fight in which top DPS is the goal, it's best to slot the Hecatomb set in GC. (Plus the proc is awesome so you want that up as much as possible)

Actually only a small part of IH's healing is enhanceable so it's not really worth the healing slots. I usually slot it with 3 striaght recharge IOs. Also, Hecatomb is better in GC since it is used twice as often as SD.
  15. Heh, I'd love to see a shield toon running around RV someday.

Okay, the key to any resist-based set, be it dark, fire, or elec, isn't defense. The reason being you have no resistance to defense debuff, and as a scrapper, tank, or brute, you are going to be in mob melee, not picking off your targets from a distance. Yes, you can soft cap your defense, but as I commented in an earlier thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=197779 :: when I did this on my own Fire Tank, the results were... horrible. In an average fight defense was often reduced to 0 and I was relying on my resists and recharge on healing flames... So get rid of maneuvers. It does you no good. Also, drop burn.

My own set here is actually due for a rework to account for the new Physical Perfection Power. I used a couple of Slow IO's in the spines set to gain a recovery boost, but I can drop them, put another slot into crushing impact, and gain more recharge. On paper, Physical Perfection should more than make up for the loss of the slow IO's in the Eden and Sewer Trials, and on Numina's task force, if I take it at 44.

I do, however, need to drop a power to free up room to take Physical Perfection. Which in my case is probably going to be Barb Swipe. I can put the Crushing Impact IO's on Brawl (or at least I think I can) so I'll still get the io buffs, and on paper, brawl should make the DPA of Barb Swipe... But there's a difference between working on paper, and working in the game.

Also, my build here has 4 kb IO's. This allows my scrapper to stand up against Mary in KTF and Loony the Mad in Faathim. You can really get away with less KB protection if you don't run any sort of task forces.

Plasma Shield: kb IO :: resist / endurance
Fire Shield: kb IO :: resist / endurance
Temperature Protection :: kb IO :: resist / defense
Tough :: kb IO :: resist / endurance

    ***
Okay, I'm going to disagree with most of this post. Resistance sets DO gain quite a bit of survivability from defense. Everything gains a lot of survivability from defense. Sure, you lack DDR but that's not to say the defense wont still help you while youre being debuffed

Lets say that you are fighting a spawn of even level CoT. Now, lets say you have softcapped melee defense (we won't worry about ranged and AoE for the time being), and a ruin mage hits you with a meaty 45% defense debuff. All of a sudden you went from taking 5% of incoming melee attack to being hit by 50% of melee attacks. That really sucks and decreases your survivability by a ton. However, if you did NOT have that 45% beginning defense, you would be getting hit by 95% of incoming attacks-- after the debuff that is. So, even if you are under a 45% defense debuff, you are still cutting the incoming damage in half.

And if there isn't a defense debuffer in the mob? Let's just say that your health bar will not be moving much.

    "Also, drop burn."

I am a big proponent of burn. I think most either love or hate it. I personally love it because it deals a buttload of damage if the bad guy is incapacitated and cannot move. If you are soloing a lot, probably not worth the power pick, but if you team a lot (specifically with controllers), it's a great power to have.

"Fire Armor is weak on taking damage. So, you need to pick up your self rez."

My fire tank hasn't died in quite some time and I generally run solo on +2x8. I realize tanks are a different story than scrappers, but I'm just pointing out that fire doesn't HAVE to be weak. Granted, the self rez is still a handy tool to have. Rise of the Phoenix, along with Burn, tend to be playstyle choices. Je_Saist, I simply have a problem with you taking your personal preferences and presenting them as fact, and not even acknowledging that others may feel different.

Just She. I'm not in AoW anymore but I assure you that none of the other members are to blame. Don't use one person's actions to justify hating an entire supergroup. I highly doubt any of you can name three members in AoW anyway (Aside from felecia). And if you don't even know who they are, don't go on rants about what a problem they are.

That's true. I suppose the event would need to be a no set bonus tourney.

Somehow when I wrote that I knew someone was going to dispute my comment that it was undisputably the best.
  20. If you plan to spend a great deal of influence, definitely go with fire/shield. It's a very common build so I'm sure that with the search function you can finda build that works for you.

If you do not have a ton of cash, and/or think you may have a tiny interest in PvP in the future, go with fire/regen. I know you said you don't PvP but it may interest you to know that fire/regen is the undisputed best scrapper for zonal PvP

Martial Arts is arguably the weakest primary, but if you pair it with Dark Armor, you get to stack stuns, which might be pretty useful. So that's out. So maybe Martial Arts/Fire Armor? Well, you have a moderate damage mostly single target set. It has some secondary effects, but with nothing to stack them on, they probably won't gel into anything very useful. Fire Armor would really benefit from some mitigation from the primary, and for the most part it isn't going to get it. Hmmmmmm, well, it IS sounding kind of low end to me.

But I don't think it would be BAD. Just less good than some of the alternatives.

Also, SOME combination has to be worst. I think what's important is that even if that is the worst combination (and I highly doubt you'd get any consensus on what the worst combination is), that it's still perfectly playable, and if built right, would even let you feel pretty strong. And I'm betting it meets those criteria. If I suddenly had a concept for flaming kicks of doom, I wouldn't hesitate to roll one.

As for WHY some combinations seem more doable, more powerful than others, I think it is mostly because balance is very very hard. Not only do you have to balance the primaries with each other, and the secondaries with each other, but also the combinations of both with each other, plus handle everything from lowbies on TOs to level 50s IO'd to the gills. Not easy. And given how difficult a task it seems, I think the sets and combinations have pretty amazing balance.

You could still make an argument that fire armor would give MA some much needed damage via Burn + whatever the second build up power is. (Fiery Embrace?)

My point being that I agree that there is no clear WORST power combo. Which means there must not be that much of a disparity.

    Powersets

Pretty much all of the sets are equal. I think it is actually very difficult to make any powerset more durable than another if they are both completely pimped. Granted, on small to medium budgets, the disparity can be quite large.
  23. Congrats Braije and DG. It's been a blast so far teaming with you guys.
