Yes, the Winter event will probably be starting soon. Remember, however, that it is per CHARACTER, not per ACCOUNT. So any character you want the halo on, you'll need to earn it.

Quote:So, how about more Halloween or a Double XP weekend to keep us busy over Thanksgiving? Or better yet, a GM invasion of Bat'Zul demons...they kind of look like big roasted turkeys.Quote:And Hami looks like a giant jello mold! We could get both dinner and dessert!
Tankers/Brutes/Lobster form khelds = pass blocking
Scrappers/SoAs = receivers
Widows/Stalkers = blitzers
Dominators/Defenders = defense
Controllers = coaches
Blasters/Corruptors = QB/kickers/punters
Masterminds = special teams
And catgurls as cheerleaders.

Quote:It WAS a very cool shot, but I decided it was a bit spoilerish, so I decided against it.Yay! Saw my character twice! Although I was hoping for the one on one shot with my Alicia vs. the Goliath that you bragged about capturing.
Still, very nice and very professional. Thanks for the opportunity to tag along.

I'd love weather, just because of the filming possibilities. Even if we could just get varying skies (if not rain, sleet, snow, etc) for some variety, it'd be really nice. I don't know if, for example, there's a way to randomize the SKYFILE settings so you go from RANDOMDAY --> RANDOMNIGHT.
And weather the way it appears in AION would be neat... you're standing around, then boom, it's raining or snowing, your character briefly looks up and goes, "oh well" and keeps going. Doesn't affect gameplay at all, just looks nice.
EDIT: To clarify - this is hardly the most important thing I'd like to see in COH. I'm just saying that if it became available, I'd be happy.

Quote:Good God, really? Ugh... THAT just proclaims a**hatness of a staggering degree.Screw him; he seems to be the stem of several "I'm glad our armed forces individuals are dying" comments on youtube, therefore his words are equal to that of horse manure.
Still, glad to see others are enjoying it.
And Kheldarn, I shall stand firm against even the awesomeness that may very well be Issue 20.

I just find the notion amusing that they'll be working on Inherent Fitness while half the office is zonked out on trytophan from the turkey.

If we get speeding cars and all that, I want my hero to have the right to chase down speeders and serve them tickets.
"HEY YOU! YOU RAN THAT STOP SIGN!"
*hero plants herself in the middle of the street and nails the car with Power Thrust, sending the car skidding back about a hundred feet*
"YEAH, THAT ONE THAT'S RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR DENTED FENDER!"

Someone on the forums apparently dislikes me:
Quote:I wonder if that stems from someone who read this thread or the "What is Zombie Man?" thread (where someone states I should be one of the Seven Legendary Forumites, whatever the hell that implies)."Featuring stolen music, slow zooms and boring screenshots, here's the latest demorecord from a forums superstar whose ego has gotten the better of them."

Quote:That was fantastic. I loved the bit at the beginning with Stefan and Marcus.Quote:Goosebumps.
A fantastic trailer as always. I particularly liked the first clip with Apex and War Witch, but I've always been fond of their story, along with Horus. I wasn't actually that excited about the incarnate task forces, but you've gone and done it for me.
Nice work!Quote:Once again, Bravo to you, Michelle!
Exceptionally done; great pacing, choice music, magnificent imagery reveals, and exquisite segments especially the epic view looking up from the water at Cole and Richter (did I miss any adjectives?)!!
Take a bow, Michelle!
Quote:Absolutely amazing!
I'm actually glad you've decided to move away from the Trailers and into "purer" creations that are more completely your own. You have an amazing talent that I believe will be better showcased if not tied down to showcasing a list of issue features.
Once again, I bow in your August Presence.
Quote:Sure sure sure. I've heard that one before. You claim this is your last one. And then I20 is gonna knock your socks off so hard, you'll have to come back for one last epic video.
And then you can really retire for real.

Still, I'm glad everyone is enjoying this one, and I'm happy to know my trailers are going out on a high note.

Now if only you could have worked in a car chase...
Quote:Good gods, that sent shivers down my spine. Excellent work as always.
Can I ask what the piece of music was? Felt very epic indeed.
(BTW, no, I did not select two HP scores just coz of the film coming out this weekend - I have been a longstanding fan of these composers for over twenty years.)

I really thought they were going to get the issue live before I finished this thing, but I guess not, so to tide you over, here's the Ko's latest video effort! As per usual, it's on YouTube and my website.
NOTE: YT says the vid's in dispute coz of the music, so some of you might not be able to see it. If that's the case, hit my website and download it from there. But if you want to share, please share the link to the Videos page, NOT the hotlink to the file itself, please?)
BTW... this is the last promotional trailer I'm doing for COH. I know I've retired before, and I came back. And I'll still be making videos, but I want to diversify my production reel with other stuff, like music vids, commercials for other media, etc (these will include more COH vids, just not TRAILERS). So someone else is going to have to pick up the slack for fanmade trailers for the game.A lot of folks have been asking me about how to make videos for COH - start cranking stuff out.

Zombie Man is a very helpful and articulate fan of the game. If this were some sort of fantasy or anime universe he would be one of the Seven Legendary Forumites, or some such thing. Since it isn't he's just a guy who compiles and posts really useful info for everyone's benefit.Quote:Ooooh! Who are the Seven Legendary Forumites? I must know so that I may complete my battle pla... er, I'm very curious, nothing more!
I think that Zombie Man is the legendary master of guides... possibly Smurphy as legendary master of marketing... maybe nominate Steelclaw as legendary master of silliness... and I'm quite sure UniqueDragon was the legendary master of confused dire warnings.Quote:Dark Respite, Steel Claw, and Zombie Man are three I can think of right off the top of my head.
Dr. Aeon is the 8th of the 7 Legendary Forumites, as well (It's a honorary position).Quote:The Seven Legendary Forumites are
Dark Respite (for her Videos), Steel Claw (for the lists), Zombie Man(for the guides), Arcanaville (for the Math),Thor's Assassin(for the Arts), Golden_Ace (for the games), Beef_Cake ( for badge-hunter)
As for who Zombie Man is, he's the guy whose issue guides are my references for what needs to go in my vids.

Damn, I was sure I had the guaranteed method of making sure it came out today... my I-19 trailer isn't finished yet.
On the bright side, more time for me to finish filming... on the dark side, LOTS of players honked off coz the issue's not live yet.

I've met several - first at HeroCon 2008 and 2009, then again at the Arizona Meet & Greet, and several of us just hang out on occasion.
Since moving to Seattle, hoping to organize a Seattle M&G, and in a great "what a small world" example, one of the guys I'm friends with, turns out lives in my new apt complex.

Quote:The theory was debunked...Okay, but do you know WHY the Issues are named the way they are and from which literary/pop culture sources they spring?
Quote:"The names of Issues are NOT chapters of novels. Never have been, never will be. The fact that the users have found novel chapter titles that match, or are similar to, our Issue names is a testament to the tenacity of our users. I won't say we haven't been amused by this, because we have, but we don't go out of our way to find a chapter title that matches our issue in theme and content. We name the issue something cool, that's it." - Positron
Issue 1: Through The Looking Glass -- Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There
Issue 6: Along Came a Spider -- "Little Miss Muffett"
Issue 7: Destiny Manifest -- doctrine of imperialistic expansion
Issue 8: To Protect and Serve -- standard motto for law enforcement
Issue 11: A Stitch in Time -- "a stitch in times saves nine"
Issue 13: Power and Responsibility -- The Tao of Peter Parker (bonus points if you get that reference), "With great power comes great responsibility"
Issue 17: Dark Mirror -- 1st Corinthians "for now I see through a mirror darkly..."

I started because of my husband, who started because friends of his were playing. He said he wouldn't start til villains became available (and when he had a computer that could run it). So in Dec of 2006, IIRC, John got started... and he got other friends into it...
... and they wouldn't shut up about it.
So in July 2007, to learn what they were talking about, I gave it a go. Couldn't play more than 5 minutes at a time without becoming motionsick, but eventually got better at it. My first character was a COH recreation of my Trinity Blood alterego, the timetravelling troublemaking techie pagan nun, Sister Johanna Sinclair (en/en blaster). Loved her to pieces.
Next major character was Agent (Sorina) Tavarisch (grav/kin troller) who didn't quite gel for me as a character concept until I riffed an impromptu in-character cell phone call post-mission to Positron... the end result of that little joke became a full length City of Heroes novel, the first of a trilogy. Go ahead and laugh.
But as early as I-10, I thought, "you know, I've been making AMVs for ages... I wonder if I could do a video for this game."
That video led to another... and another... when I suddenly realized I spent more time filming than playing the damn game...

Oh, so there are four videos out there that just emphasize why I'm no longer needed. That's reassuring to know. I feel more comfortable now leaving y'all to take up the slack.
*looks at all of her filming scripts and shot footage, then shrugs*
And I'll have more hard drive space again.

Quote:Pity... I had a list of approximately forty videos for COH I wanted to make, but I guess now they will never exist beyond my own imagination, since I'm obviously neither wanted nor needed here. You no longer have a place here, 'Ko. Leave now while you still have your dignity. My directorial style is the Hatori Hanzo of movie making.
Just as The Jersey Shore has destroyed Firefly in followers, fans, and ratings, so shall I to you. I am The Situation of CoH's forums.

Hey, something that folks might want to try (since this seems to have worked for me):
I tried disabling the Geometry Buffers to see if that would resolve the issue for me (while leaving everything else maxed out in Ultra Mode), and voila, no more problems. Contact windows, dialogue boxes, tailor stuff, all of it now works. If you're running into the same problem, give it a go and see what happens.
