I swear, the next time I fly through Steel Canyon, I'm gonna smack Positron in the face. He won't fight stuff coz we all con grey to him...
... but he's too much of a wuss to admit he's in love until AFTER the object of his affection says something?
/facepalm
Sometimes I wonder what exactly Sorina sees in him.

I mentioned that on beta... but hey, unrequited love is a well-known theme in this game.

Quote:Oh. Is that why I never got an answer about my question to you via PM re: the Pummit?Hey guys,
Just checking in to let everyone know I'm still alive and breathing, albeit pretty slammed this week. Right now I'm working on planning for the upcoming Player Summit, getting things ready for the new Assistant Community Manager joining us (more news on that in the coming weeks), and other stuff I'm not at liberty to talk about yet.
Yes, it's secret, and yes I'm an evil man for saying that.
I'm checking in on things and reading the forums on a daily basis, but just in case you don't see prolific amounts of posting from me over the next few weeks, now you know why.
I'll see you all on Ustream tomorrow morning!
*shrugs*
I'll forgive you this time.

** "Profiteer" on my mercs/TA MM who is actually NAMED Profiteer
** ""Chaotician" on my walking Pauli effect Mind/FF controller, Cluster Flux
** "Positron's Ally" on Sorina Tavarisch, who according to my novel THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE is dating none other than Positron

Quote:You never realize just how easy it is to get away with lacking documentation, up until you actually start dealing with developers who have no clue how to document. I can sympathize.Quote:Speaking from an outside (non designer) looking in, I often times hear designers bemoaning the lack of documentation when working on older content, and this is not isolated to CoH/Paragon.
My impression is that in the early days of MMO development, it was fairly Wild West. Designers were producing content and systems, and throwing things against the "wall" to see what stuck. They were creative and innovative, but because they didn't have an extreme amount of software development background, they didn't understand the value of documentation.
In more recent years, this philosophy and practice has certainly changed and most studios have a very rigorous documentation policy and process, but that doesn't change the fact that often times we're working with systems that require significant amounts of time to reverse engineer.
THIS is why I've been trying to get into the industry! Tech writer/editor! TWENTY YEARS' EXPERIENCE!
Paragon Studios NEEDS me!

Quote:Was thinking of doing something similar myself as an exercise for something to put in my professional writing portfolio - I'll probably pick a higher level arc so I don't conflict with yours.Well I've buckled down and started my AE project, and am re-writing and updating all the old, ignored, poorly written story arcs that stand alone (Starting with Bonefire, Clockwork Captive, etc.) and, without changing the story itself, incorporating more lore and the opportunity to work with Paragon's Heroes. It'll take me a bit due to limited time, but I've already started on it and I think they'll be a lot of fun. I'll probably start a seperate thread when I start publishing for feedback and ideas.

Quote:The Countess of Canon and the Doyenne of Digits at the same workplace would be too much for me to bear, I think... I'd be constantly running over to her asking her "hey, would THIS work?"Quote:He really isn't. Recent writing is full of blatant inconsistencies that could have been avoided with five minutes spent on ParagonWiki, and I don't think he's run a Malta mission ever.
Talking is a Free Action.
(I'm sorry)
Heh, I remember talking as a free action, I used to play Champions (oh, the irony) back in the day. Still doesn't make any sense.

Quote:A yard - those things that go in front and in back of houses, which we do not have in-game. Unless you're in Neutropolis.does the game provide a definition for a yard?
you cannot assume the real world definition applies in game

So if all goes well, me, Bloodspeaker, and Jade Crush will be arriving in SJ at around 2:30pm or so on Friday. We should have room for one more person in our rental car if you're arriving at about the same time (MAYBE 2 if you're both skinny), and we'll be staying at Dinah's.
We'll be flying out of SJ on Sun late afternoon/early evening.
For those Justicites attending - I take it we're doing bacon waffles on Sunday morning, as per usual?

Who else has had instances like this...?
WARNING: Arc spoilers may be found here!
While running WWD5 on my merc/TA MM, Profiteer: "Hey, Wade? Remember this?" (holds up a playing card) "Good thing I held onto it, huh?"
While running the Mender Ramiel arc with my grav/kin controller, the former Vanguard Colonel, and encountering the rogue Vanguard Captain Holtz: "Vanguard should deal with its own. Allow me to remind you just how much firepower an HVAS has."

Quote:However, like I said in that thread, when I called about reservations, they already had info in their system for the event, and that the discount rate was available. If they and PS change their minds, that's beyond my control.I did a search of the hotel from another post D_R made in another thread. And this is what I found.
dinahshotel
NOW just because they had it there one time does not mean that they will have it there again.
The first 2 Hero Cons were held in two different locations. There does seem to be a pattern of us not getting invited back to previous event locations.
So it's kind of hard to say if this will be the same hotel facility used again.
But hey, it's a nice hotel, regardless!

For what it's worth... when I called Dinah's Garden Hotel (where it was held back in November), apparently it's listed there again this April. Mention Paragon Studios for the discounted rate.
Whether they're going to change it, I don't know. But when I called the day the Pummit was announced, that's where it was.

Quote:Oh.LOL! Yeah, I see how that could be misinterpreted. Let me restate: The writing was succinct, moving, insightful, and artistic. It conjured up images and personality clearly and in the appropriate tone of both honoring and mourning the person who passed. If someone was trying to put together a resume of their creative writing accomplishments, that eulogy would deserve inclusion for the quality of writing.
I have seen real-world eulogies that deserve to be heralded as proof of someone's creative writing prowess before (not many, but some).
I was NOT trying to say that it was a dull recitation of facts like someone would put on the resume, because it was far from that.
I knew that.
Thank you.

I think heroines dress like this because we never have to deal with rain, snow, sleet, etc. If we actually had WEATHER in this game? Forget spandex, baby. The newest costume set on demand from ICON would be parkas, umbrellas, etc...

For me, what makes this game so good... oh, Gods, where do I start?
The world and its lore. Since I started playing in 2007, I have created so many memorable (for me) characters that I love exploring in terms of personality and style and background. I mean, honestly, what other game would let me create a Russian scientist-turned-soldier/superheroine, a fun-loving and boy-crazy immortal avatar of the netherworld, a gambling cancan dancer turned pistoleer and crime fighter, and a time-travelling time-controlling nun? And they all fit wonderfully into the world of Paragon City...
The /demorecord feature. OMG. To be able to make machinima. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS FEATURE PLEASE NEVER GET RID OF IT EVEN IF STUPID PEOPLE INSIST ON USING IT TO BREAK THE EULA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
The community. For the most part, some of the most awesome damn people are here.
COH has been the greatest source of creativity for me in the last five years of my life. I'm forever grateful.

When you hit 20 and get Keith Nance, do his arc. His isn't all that great... but Special Agent Jenni Adair (who he unlocks) is SOOOOO worth it.

Quote:I've had people ask me to revisit this arc, which I may do. And if I do, I shall see about adding bees.MAIN EVENT
#378944 - "Too Clever By Half" by @Samuraiko
Villain levels 5-10, Moderate
Description: "Vernon von Grun, in his latest and greatest attempt at mad science, encounters a.... SLIGHT problem. Panic with him! NYA-HA-HA-HA-HA...HELP!"
Summary: It's entirely possible that there is no amount of Von Grun which I would consider too much Von Grun. It does have the standard complaints (it still references the Zig origin, and he does kind of disrespect you sometimes - but you're level 10, what do you expect) but it also answer burning questions about SCIENCE, and nobody can take that away from us. It does unfortunately not feature any bees.
This arc was pure pleasure to write. All I had to do was trancechannel Eddie Izzard as Vernon von Grun and it practically wrote itself. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
