...Basically, this is going to be a new issue where I have to spend more time in MIDS than in game. At least with inherent fitness I just had 3 extra power picks that I could choose blindly, since my builds were optimized without them.

  4. ...Did anyone ask if Kheldians and VEATs were getting customization?
  5. Still holding out hope for some new alphas - my Defense based characters are positively BLEEDING endurance as it stands.

I actually don't remember ever getting something in addition to the new SSA. Two months between installments doesn't make sense, since I thought the month off was to try to build up a buffer to allow monthly installments. ...Then again, I haven't played SSA 2.1 yet, so I guess it's all the same to me.

Same way players farmed PVPIO recipes - get a bunch of freebie accounts and get the characters (opposite morality to you ) to level 15 - then kill them for easy credit. Shouldn't take more than a few hours - though you'll probably have to bring them back from the hospital since self rezzes aren't till 26/35.
  8. I haven't gone through XKCD's archives for the same reason I haven't cracked 200 Misfiles yet - there's a LOT to work through. And I can barely keep up with the OTHER 300 comics I'm subscribed too (I'd link my Webcomic list, but there's some NSFW stuff there). I find XKCD amusing as long as I got enough sleep to follow the train of thought.

Do it. I have an Ill/Time and it is AWESOME. I also threw most other procs (Neuronic, Impeded Swiftness, Ghost Widow's Embrace, Unbreakable Constraint) to allow it to pump out damage as well.

I noticed that slotting the controller ATO proc worked out to about the same as the Neuronic Shutdown proc it replaced. Considering Synapse said that the AoE formula IS being changed for the better I'm going to wait until i24 hits the Beta Server before I decide what to do.

It's the same reason people try to solo GM's and AV's, even though with how long it takes you could have rounded up a few people, killed the monster, and done two more missions. Just bragging rights.
...Then why don't we have more insanity Apex/Tin Mages if their builds are so powerful? Surely their godhood wouldn't crumble to nothing by unslotting their alpha, right?

    ...Right?

Knockdown is weird. At least based on the visuals, there is a period after a knockdown where the enemy is immune to another knock. What this means for Ice Slick is that although it has a ~57% chance to knockdown a standing opponent, opponents who slip and fall have a lowered chance to fall again, because they are immune to some of the knock pulses while they are down.

If that period of immunity is one second (thats the value I've tended to assume in the past), then Ice Slick's actual knock rate over time is reduced by about 30% (I'm too lazy to compute it exactly), to right around 40% total.

Bonfire avoids this issue entirely. Because of the timing of the knockdown, the enemy is never immune to the next pulse. Its full rate of knockdown is always in effect, unlike any patch that ticks faster.

So, yeah, Fire Control really did just pick up Ice Slick with damage, better recharge, and longer duration, more or less.
It's a ''Does not stack from same caster'' deal - my Fire/Ice Tanker can and HAS double stacked Ice Patch and knocked enemies across the room.

Char is the fastest-activating stalker epic pool hold, at 1.07s, so you need its recharge to be no less than 20.53s (counting only slotted recharge). With a 32s base recharge, that means slotting no more than 56% recharge into the power. This is not an impossible constraint. The other epic holds have slightly longer activations, and could thus slot slightly more recharge while still having a 90% chance. Soul Storm, at 2.17s, is the slowest, and could slot up to 64.7% recharge while still having a 90% proc chance.

Now, granted, 90% is significantly less reliable than 100%, but it's still pretty reliable.
With Lockdown 6 slotted in Soul Storm (Fixed) that's 75.51% Recharge time (Level 30 enhancements), which works out to around an 85% Proc rate. This means that I have to stick with my Nerve Alpha Ability, since the only other +Defense option has recharge. Yet again, the ONLY reason I ever used this power was A) Green Phase on Hamidon Raids, and B) Shutting down a boss momentarily. Since the second one is no longer reliable, I'll simply move the power out of standard rotation. It still means I'm going to dissect the character for the THIRD time since Rolling him to try and make him work.

Or I could just cut my losses like I did with my CEBR (Transferred to another server, never to be used again) and my Beam Rifle toon (who is being prepped for PVP on Freedom). I just don't have FUN with him anymore, and since the stealth proc is worthless to me if I can't rely on it (Fun fact, if you have a Stealth Proc/Stealth effect OTHER than hide on, you can't actually SEE the proc go off so you have to scour the healing delivered channel - and by the time I see that I'm hidden I've already been hit about 75% of the time, Soft-capped or no).

And I'm saying it right now - the Recharge Build Up Proc is a slap in the face to me. Yes, I said it - it's completely, utterly worthless since my Build up is ALWAYS recharged.

Uh. I had a set of lockdown BEFORE the SBE became available. I was fine with a 15% proc rate but I was given the impression that Lockdown firing guaranteed in a patron hold was WAI so I bought an enhancement from the store (and this was the ONLY one I bought) so I could use it to lockdown a boss, which I only did if I was fighting two of them.

And the stalker ATO required a MASSIVE investment of resources to cycle Build Up every 10 seconds, a huge amount of endurance management and not particularly stellar ST Damage. It also required a COMPLETE reworking of my build/playstyle, and in the end I was only barely able to keep up with Brutes and Scrappers on incarnate Trials, while having less survivability than either.

In all honesty the change to Lockdown means that my Proc will drop to around 60% fire rate, at which point I have wasted 3 dollars on an enhancement that is actually worse than the enhancement I replaced it with (A Level 30 Lockdown Proc). And I can't even use the Devastation proc without needing to retool my ENTIRE build. Between this, the change to the Stalker Stealth Proc, and the new Proc being utterly worthless, I'm basically 50/50 on whether I'm going to keep my character or not.

...You guys DO realize that enemies with level shifts have the same rewards as those without shifts, right? Taking down Siege (54) and Shadowhunter (54+3) give the same rewards. So it's basically asking to fight for the sake of throwing yourself against a more dramatic purple-patch encounter. We'd get the same results with a reverse Ultimate that can be stacked at will.

You're not SUPPOSED to be able to, but that 12 days of Coralax event had one batch where the NC site crashed - I was in the habit of submitting two or three codes to hedge my bets (hadn't worked prior), and when I inputted them the server crashed from around 200 people trying to input at once - when it came back up I had 3 codes applied to my account. I only get one power though.
  19. What were the codes even for? I can't remember.

Personally, I hope they let us up the difficulty past +4 or something like that. With incarnate levels, we're already maxed out fighting mere +1s in Dark Astoria. I'm all for more difficult factions such as those in Night Ward, but implementing more difficult challenges in this way limits what enemy groups we can sink our teeth into, further relegating old enemy factions to "Council" status (i.e. good for farming, but not any challenge for most).
...You're saying you can/will be able to farm 54x8 Knives of Vengeance with the same level of mind-numbing boredom I get farming Council Empire at 50x8? (Trick Question - I turn it into a Time Attack so I'm not bored) What build are you using? ...You know, just curious.

Seriously. i24 is the LEAST of my anticipation right now. Also if we could get a hint as to the next T9 VIP set so I can AGONIZE over it not being released every 3 months.

At higher levels I find that the largest amount of steady income I get comes from vending all the basic IO recipes I get.

Generally speaking, this doesn't get me enough to fully slot out a character with IOs. When I'm really lucky I might get enough to slot one power - or just one slot depending on the IO. Of course, depending on the set I'm looking for, several pieces of it might be practically non-existent on the Market, which is yet another impediment to the process.

And at that point, there's still the part where I have to go about crafting the IOs in question, which is not "natural" gameplay for me any way I look at it. Unless I spend (what is usually, IME) a bit extra and buy already-crafted IOs.
I scrimped and saved for my first two 50s. Never. Again. *TwinkTwinkTwinkTwinkTwink* Heck, I've been farming like crazy to fill my upcoming Doctored Wounds needs! (Water/Cold Corr, Something/Bio Something, and Plant/Nature Controller... that's... 8 sets? Maybe 9?)
