EDIT: Managed to grab a crafted one at level 30.

After-action report for Thugs/Pain:
Ow.
But seriously. The good news? The clones don't use Gang War. *phew* So the first 3 clones went down...I don't want to say "easily enough" but they went down. Then I went down. As I said before, "ow". Okay, run back, pop insps, jump back into the fray. Managed to do some damage, but couldn't take clone #4 before dying. Hit up Ouro, grabbed 12 purple insps. Popped 4 on myself, 4 for Bruiser, and 4 for Arsonist. World of Pain. Hit Gang War, pwn nubs. Still quite a bit of healing going on (for both sides), but I managed to whittle down the remaining 5. This was on base difficulty, incidentally, so the clones weren't even bosses.
Future thought for this mission with a Mastermind: set up a targetcustomnext bind so I can just target the clones instead of their henchmen. I'm thinking my height slider-maxed Bots MM might be easier to pick out, but my Thugs MM blended right in.

Quote:You didn't say "DA, when paired with primaries that have stuns, has Fury problems", you said "OG and CoF are counterproductive for (implied ALL) /Dark Armor Brutes". (Concession: I don't have CoF yet and I'm not sure I'll take it. It's that or the rez, and while a rez is nice, CoF would be a set bonus mule.)Don't be so dense. I just said fury generation is a bit slower than other armors because fewer mobs (minions if you have OG which is the usual) are attacking you.
The complaints were from Stone Melee/DA and Mace/DA Brutes, because they have too much mitigation on their primaries too, stunning lts, bosses and etc.
Quote:DA isn't the only thing that is counterproductive to fury (if you still didn't understand, counterproductive does not mean you will have any serious fury issues).
Yes, you have a point, Dark Armor will have issues with Fury generation when paired with certain primaries. But that statement is far from the blanket statement that so many people make, that Dark Armor/Oppressive Gloom is bad for Brutes always because you can't build Fury. That's the false meme I want to kill.
Stalkers though? Hard to imagine what could possibly work more against Hide than these two powers. I don't play Stalkers much, but I do like the idea of making them into click powers. Wander up to a group, Assassin's Strike, then click OG and/or CoF to mitigate the aggro you've just generated. Of course, CoF would end up stacking with Demoralized sometimes -- too powerful, or did CoF suddenly become useful?
Pre-EDIT:
Quote:Whether you have "0 problems with Fury" (what does that mean exactly anyway ?) or not is irrelevant. OG/CoF makes enemies attack less. Enemies attacking less means either Fury generation is slower or the brute has to take suboptimal steps to raise Fury.
DM/DA is a tough combo to play, it doesn't work quite like other Brutes. I shelved mine at level 31-32 for quite some time because it became a struggle to play by that point. After reading up on the powers in the Player Guides section and learning how to actually (re)build him, he's become much more playable. If others report severe difficulties with Fury generation and blame only their secondary*, I can only assume they're not playing them right. Maybe you call that "suboptimal". I never see complaints about Stone/DA or EM/DA, just */DA, it's the blanket statement that I'm taking issue with, not your specific (and legitimate!) complaints with powerset anti-synergy.
Okay, I think I've derailed this thread enough. You're all talking about Stalkers, not Brutes. -

EDIT: Looking below, it turns out I was right for the wrong reason. Shows how much I use AE.

Quote:My advice -- ignore the babies on both sides of this pathetic PvP-waving contest and do what you want. There's literally no argument against running in SG mode pre-level 25, and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who won't do it for any reason other than spite. This was my initial thought in having a Prestige requirement. However, given the responses I have received on this thread and taking into account my overall goal (to form a cohesive group of players who enjoy playing together), it has forced me to reconsider that particular requirement.
-
That's nice. I think I'll go back to playing my level 39 DM/DA Brute who has zero problems with Fury, all while laughing at all the other /DA Brutes who apparently don't know how to play their characters.

Have you tried 10.4? FSAA + Depth of Field has issues with blockiness, but nothing like you describe.
-
Seemingly unrelated to this corrected issue.
Note that it's still set to 53% here, so perhaps this is unrelated . Changing this setting under these circumstances merely changes the opacity of those black squares you see at the corners of the windows.
The first time I experienced this was in I17 Closed Beta, although I also recall encountering it on Live pre-I17. It's definitely happening more often now. The only way to fix it is to restart the client. -
It's not a terrible idea to ask people to play in SG mode until you at least get base TPs up. Maybe base storage too. It's not like prestige all gets directly funneled to the SG leader and the members get no benefit from it.

Quote:Plenty of NPCs have costume parts we don't get. Ghost Widow has flowing hair, Black Scorpion has a tail, Imperious has his foldy cape...thing. And NPC Kheldians get sashes.Edit: To add to that, according to the wiki Mirror Spirit is "destined to one day become the most powerful mystical force ever known" and just take a look at the ammount of detail on Foreshadow's and particularly Rose Star's costume. Tights with a bare shoulder and a special rose tattoo? I'll only want to see her in the game when Jay gives us the same options for our characters.

No bosses on my WM/Shield, bosses for Dark/Dark Brute, +0 on both. Really don't want to try it on any difficulty above +0.

Quote:Just wanted to step in and say that this is an enormous misconception and I wish people would stop spreading it. Remember, you generate Fury not just by being attacked, but by attacking too. One application of Soul Drain with Death Shroud running gets your Fury up pretty quick. I have absolutely no Fury problems on my DM/DA when I run Oppressive Gloom.although I find /Dark counterproductive to fury if you keep oppressive gloom turned on
As far as SS/WP goes, I've gotta be honest, I'm still not impressed at level 41. Yeah, he's pretty good, but occasionally the regen isn't enough to save you (well, me) and you (me again) faceplant. People keep saying "it's awesome just on SOs" but I'm still desperate to get my sets in for bonuses so I can suck less. -
How about this, you're all ridiculous.

Quote:Are you sure it's not because those Mayhems don't actually exist?Actually, you do encounter Spark Blade and Rose Star in the Faultline Mayhem Missions as the protecting Heroes.
Just like you can fight Blue Steel in the Galaxy City Mayhem.
P.S. As you can imagine, these Mayhems are hardly ever done because they're so freaking tough that no one has beaten them. -
You can basically already do this with dual builds.

Quote:I was quite relieved to discover (thanks to a Power Analyzer I got on another toon; increased temp power drop rate ftw!) that 8x Shield Brute clones don't stack Phalanx Fighting or Grant Cover. But that still didn't stop my 8 War Mace/Shield clones from curb-stomping me through 4 purple insps and 2 orange insps. Think I ended up having to stack 6 purples in order to start taking them down.Hmm wonder how a dark/shield brute would fare with team buffs from Grant Cover.
Still dreading this on my Bots/Dark... -
I dunno, it looks like Player Questions to me.
-
I honestly don't understand why people say that he's difficult on melee toons, my Ins/SS Tank and Dark/Dark Brute both took him down pretty easily (yeah, they needed insps, especially after the drain, but he only got one shot with his drain, maybe two, before I crushed him).
-
Problem 3 is a known issue in I17 with all costume slots beyond slot 0.
-
Tough to describe, but every time I log into the game for the first time, I get this loud jackhammer-like sound just before the zone finishes loading. It only seems to happen on the first log-in after the client starts, not subsequent log-ins.
Relevant system info(?):
OS: Win XP SP3
GPU: Radeon HD5570
Sound: On-board Realtek ALC88x (can't find anything more specific than this, it's from the motherboard manual) -
Hooray, a happy ending!

I thought you couldn't delete an e-mail at all if it had an attachment, just return it. Yeah, I'm looking at my e-mail box right now and all the e-mails with attachments have a Return button instead of a Delete button.
